You can't solve emotional problems with logic alone. A younger worker pitches a rational idea to a resistant colleague, but logic fails until you address what they're actually feeling underneath.
Chapters
I hate to say impossible, but we got to be close to solve an emotional problem with a rational solution. And I feel like that's where a lot of people struggle. And we'll get back to personal in just a second, especially professionally. You get somebody who's— and these are shoes that I've been in— a younger professional working for somebody who's been in the industry a long time, has their experience, has their perspective, and they're resisting something that is just an obvious idea to other people on the team for great reasons. And we keep presenting this emotional person with these rational arguments. And then we get mad when the rational arguments don't win. Well, until we solve the emotional issue, the rational alternative doesn't stand a chance.
