Hey, Doc, how's it going? Today we are going to talk about blogging and why it is so important for you and your practice to have a blog that you actually update. It is going to get more people onto your website, it's going to get more people into your practice, and it is going to help spread your message, your unique healthcare message in a way that gets maximum impact. So when I say blog, you might be thinking, if you are a younger Doc man, those things have been around forever. I don't know if that's right for me. Seems kind of passe. I want you to get that out of your mind. Blogging gives Google gives all the search engines an opportunity to find your practice. If you have a website and it's just a single page, nothing else on your website, a single page, but it's loaded with keywords, it's awesome. It still is only a single opportunity to showcase to the search engines what you and your practice are about. So I want you to think of a blog like multiple opportunities to show different facets of you and your practice to the public, to the community, to your audience, because that's really what it is. When you have a blog, number one, it gives you the ability to have your own territory. You're not necessarily having to be on Facebook or Instagram or all these other channels and platforms that can change their tune any day of the week. So controllable assets are a great thing to have in business and in marketing. And your blog is one of those. When you publish content, when you publish pieces to your blog, it gives you the opportunity to control that message and have it build and grow throughout time. Now, as I said at the top, it's also important to keep in mind that every chiropractic blog that you produce gives Google gives the search engines an opportunity to grab keywords. So if you had 10 blog posts, 50 blog posts, 150 blog posts, you can see that exponentially increases the amount of keywords that you're hitting relative to your practice. And it also gives all of the search engines a great deal of context for what you're about. Natural healthcare, alternative healthcare, chiropractic fitness, it's going to give more information in. The more data that you provide to Google, the more information that you put out there, the better job it can do to find the right people to get to your website. That's what they're in the business of doing. So a blog is by far and away the best way to do that. The other thing that is fantastic about a blog is that over time, it also doesn't need to be your grandfather's blog, where it's just text on a page. You can add in pictures, you can add in video content. And as the search engines have increased their abilities throughout the last five and 10 years, their ability to understand what's going on on your page has dramatically increased. So what do I mean by that? Previously, 10 plus years ago, it was all about the keywords, it was all about the words on the page. That is still super, super important. But now the pictures themselves give context clues to the search engines as to the topic of that page. So that is very, very important because number one, it provides more information, it provides more data. That's what we want, right? When you give Google more data, it will find highly relevant people that it exposes your page to. They'll come in, they'll be patients, they'll be happily ever after. But what it also does is, is it gives you the opportunity to have that page become more dynamic, right? So if a patient or person goes to your blog and it's just a million words on a page and it looks like the next great American novel, that's difficult for somebody to get through, but it makes your content more dynamic. If you see a paragraph and then there's a nice picture, another paragraph, perhaps a little video, now your blog starts to become a really dynamic piece of your website that can engage people for a long time. And guess what happens? The longer people stay on your page, the higher that page will rank. In Google, they love people hanging out on the page because in Google's mind, that means they delivered the goods, that they delivered the exact page, the exact information that the individual person was looking for. And when somebody hangs out on your page for they click and then they hang out on your page a long time. That is a great thing in Google's mind that tells them they did a good job matching you up. Guess what happens as that starts to happen across multiple pages? Your overall ranking will go up in all of those territories and more. So you can almost think of it like lottery tickets in a good way. Whereas if you have just a homepage or just one blog, you have one ticket to win. You don't have a lot of chances, but if you create high quality, I'm not talking about spammy junk or blogs that are replicated a gazillion times over, but when you have high quality content that's focused and specific and you have it in dozens, if not hundreds of blogs spread out across your page, you're giving A massive amount of data, a massive amount of information for Google to help match people to their search query, which helps people get to your website. Very, very important. And on the topic of kind of spammy stuff and how not to do it, one key tactical tip when you put out a blog is really try to stay above 350 or 400 words. Now you don't need to go up to 8000 or 10,000 words necessarily, but if you can get between 3 to 400 words in a blog and 1200 words, you're in a great spot. Because if you only have 50 words on that page and maybe one image that looks like a landing page, and Google is trying to steer traffic away from those type of sites, that means you're going to hold somebody hostage for something. But if you have great content, if you have three to 400 words, 500 words, 600 words, that tells Google that you have done your homework, that you have put some time in. It also is more likely to keep people on your page longer. And also you're of course having more literal words on the page that could hit keywords. So all of these things work together. And when you build out a blog you have to keep that in mind. You want all of this to work harmoniously. So if you have a video relevant to that topic of the blog post, put it in the middle of it. It's a great way to get engagement to grab additional keywords to keep people excited with your content. If you have a nice picture, throw that on there. Share it from Instagram. You can do this in a variety of ways, but it helps to build the dynamic aspects of your blog which help get more people to it. And that is what it is all about. If you put out high quality content consistently over a long period of time, then you will be rewarded with natural traffic coming in. People will be excited and ready to learn from you. And as you can imagine, that is going to equal people coming into your practice. So if you've been on the fence about starting a blog you can clearly see I would encourage you to do so.
