How to Reactivate Inactive Patients for Your Chiropractic Practice: 5-Step Protocol

Jeff Langmaid (The Smart Chiropractor / The Evidence Based Chiropractor) explains a recommended quarterly patient reactivation protocol for chiropractic practices to reconnect with inactive or lapsed patients and increase visits. He outlines a five-step outbound sequence (email → phone call → email → phone call → text) that emphasizes positioning the patient as the hero and the doctor as their guide, including story-brand style first emails and direct links to online scheduling. Langmaid promotes ready-made email templates, phone scripts, and automation available through the Smart Chiropractor platform and positions reactivations as a high-ROI, patient-centric marketing tactic.

Hey docs, what's going on? It is Jeff Langman with the Smart Chiropractor and the evidence based chiropractor here. And I wanted to take a moment and break down a strategy that you can and should be utilizing in your practice to potentially even increase your visits this week. And that's ultimately having a patient reactivation protocol. You can see I put one up on the screen this way. I guess it is that we recently released within the Smart Chiropractor. So if you are a Smart Chiropractor member, please head over to the members area and in the vault you can pick up this specific five step reaction reactivation protocol. But I wanted to talk through why in my opinion having a reactivation protocol is really a patient centric way to go about your practice. That also can provide additional lift for your patient volume. Things happen over time. Patients come in and they might discontinue care early because of things that are just going on in their life. That happens all the time. The other end of the spectrum might be patients who go through, have an awesome experience with your practice, they get well, they're living life and you just haven't seen them in a while. All of the automated tools that we have within the Smart Chiropractor help solve that problem. Automated Facebook posts, automated email, etc. However, a foundational piece of your practice marketing should be quarterly reactivation protocols. This is those, these are those extra touch points that allow you to reach out to all of those individuals that are in your circle of trust. Right? These are people who have come in already, they've already chosen you for their care and you just haven't seen them in a while. Or reactivation protocols are something that we recommend all of our smart chiropractors implement quarterly in their practices. And we recommend five steps. We pair together an email, a phone call, an email, a phone call and then a text script to create those five steps specifically. Now email number one. We basically highlight it in a story brand type fashion, right? We want to position the patient as the hero and you as their guide. If they've already chosen you and you haven't seen them in a while, they this is a great opportunity with reactivations to stimulate that conversation and let them know I am still here for you, I am still your guide. And be sure in that email to have a direct clickable link to either your website or better yet, an online scheduling tool. That's what we do within chiro emails, within the Smart Chiropractor and automate all of that. But if you want to do this yourself, which I would encourage you to do something with reactivations because staying top of mind with your patients is critically important. People come to you for relationships, not just simply the transaction of the adjustment. And we as chiropractors, we know, regardless of your practice style, people get older, they don't get younger. They should continue with their movement, their exercise. And getting adjusted every once in a while is not a bad idea to say the least. So my question is, what are you doing? And to engage with your patients, you should be getting out there across all those social channels and email. But I'm going to encourage you have that extra layer, do what you need to do to provide the best patient care and the best patient experience. And in my mind, having a solid reactivation protocol is a necessary piece of that. If you don't know where to start whatsoever, then check out the smart chiropractor.com this is just one of our tools. We have dozens and dozens of tools. This can get you positive return on investment in the first few weeks. I can nearly guarantee you that. Because the bottom line is we've stress tested this against multiple practices, multiple different types of providers, and time and time again we see provider offices, chiropractors specifically reactivations fall down their totem pole. And you probably just haven't done this at all or in a while. So getting on this cadence quarterly with outbound phone calls paired with an email, successive sequence within 72 hours and then dropping a text on the back end, even if you don't have text, that's okay, get those emails in, those phone call out. We'll give you all the scripting in the reactivation protocol so you'll know exactly what to do as far as an email template's concerned. And we'll also give you the exact phone scripting. And the idea here is to reach out and connect. The idea is to let patients know that you are guiding them as their doctor, teacher, educator, on a journey towards better health. And ultimately that you are there for them when they are ready to raise their their hand. All those individuals who have already chosen you. If you're a doc who's been in practice a few years and you are still overly concerned about new patients coming in, chances are that you have not done a great job, as Jason would say, filling the holes in your bucket. And a reactivation protocol and strategy can help you do exactly that. So if you need help with this, if you feel like there can be improvement with your reactivations and, or you'd like to automate your marketing, then please come over and check out the smartchiropractor.com if you have any questions about reactivations, any of the scripting that we recommend or utilize, drop them down below. I'm happy to do my best to help make it a great day. Think about reactivations, provide the best patient experience, and get those schedules filled up with people that you can help in your community.
