Joe Rogan is leaving YouTube for Spotify in what is reported to be a $100 million deal. That's incredible. As somebody who's on YouTube and also has a podcast, those numbers are crazy. And congratulations to Joe and the entire team over there. I wanted to hop in and look at some of the analytics behind the scenes and see how exactly did Spotify come upon this deal? What data can we glean to showcase to us as podcasters, as YouTubers, how we can achieve at least some modicum of that level of success and basically dive in and say, big congratulations to everybody on Joe's team. So, first of all, he gets unbelievable guests, and he's over 1,000 episodes, so consistency rings true. He has built up an incredible fan base of talent, tens, if not hundreds of millions of people. He's done it through having consistent content. He's done it by having audio and video, which he's also bringing to Spotify. In addition to that, he has had access to some incredible guests. When you top that off with a great team, and he's just a really natural, awesome interviewer, it is a recipe for success. But let's hop over. I'm gonna share my screen with. Let's take a look at some of the data and see if we can better understand exactly how this deal came together. So I'm gonna share your screen here real quick. And while we do not have access specifically to all of Joe's podcasting numbers, what we can get a really good look at is in r his YouTube numbers. So how is he doing on YouTube? How does this impact what he was able to negotiate with Spotify? Let's take a peek at what Social Blade has to say. So a couple things that are super important and data points that stick out to me is you can look right in the middle right here, and we see that Joe currently is probably earning up to about $5 million per year just on ad revenue based upon his YouTube channel. So that's really, really important and impactful. Now, next to that show, just to the right of that, you'll see where it says total weekly video views. I'm kind of circling it with my mouse right here. You can see that over the last month, he has had some significant growth. Right. That graph is going up, which ultimately showcase more and more people are listening. So he is picking up momentum as time goes on, which is really incredible and really impactful. Also in the upper right hand corner of this chart, you can. You can see that in the last 30 days, he has added over a quarter million subscribers, 330,000 subscribers over the last 30 days, which is absolutely incredible. And as we all know, he is ranking high, right? So when you look at the country, ranked the United States 300th biggest channel, and this is the YouTube channel, right, which is indicative of what he's doing within the podcast. Now where things start to get really interesting is if we dive down into Joe's stats, what we see are some incredible numbers. We see that in the last 30 days again, he added over 300,000 people to his channel, which is incredible. He added over 100 million views over the last 30 days. And he is tracking right now where he is adding just about 10,000 subscribers per day and three and a half million views, three and a half million views each and every day on his channel. And that's how we see him gaining and stepping up to, let's say, $5 million per year in ad revenue. Now you might be saying the same as me, man. A reported 100 million dollar deal, $5 million in yearly income right now. It's going to take a long time to ultimately make that back and more. But what I want to show you is the projected future growth because this is where things get interesting. As we talked about at the beginning, we can see right here that he is growing, he's compounding his growth and he is growing very, very quick. So if we go into future projections, we'll give Social Blade a minute to catch up with us here. But in future projections, we're going to see a couple really, really interesting things. Number one is we're going to see that compounding and that expand exponential growth. So you're going to see in just a moment, as soon as this loads up, that Joe is growing at an accelerated pace, his channel is growing at an accelerated pace. And we're going to see that within the next couple years he's on pace to have over 50 million subscribers. He's about 8 million right now. 50 million subscribers in the next five years. If you take 8 to 50, we say 5x, that $5 million per year ad revenue might be going up to 5x to 25 million per year. @ which point Spotify is going to be a very, very happy company. So let's take a look at some of these subscription predictions and views predictions. Now with what Spotify does, they're of course they're looking to get people subscribing to their service, right? So they're not really ad supported in the traditional sense of YouTube, but what they are is they're trying to Sell subscriptions. And they know that Joe's audience, if it keeps growing the way it looks like it has, they're going to have a lot more paying subscribers and a lot more opportunities to sell advertising. So as you can see here, we go down subscription predictions in the middle, view predictions, let's go down a few years. And this data is based off of all of YouTube. So it's incredible data to mine and to say, gosh, like this is predictable, right? We know that there are millions of people that millions of YouTube channels, millions upon millions of hours of footage uploaded. So this is really solid data. If we go down, we can see in five years it's estimated that Joe will have over 65. If he stayed on YouTube, he'd have over 65 million subscribers. And I don't even know is it a 22 billion views or something like that. View count in the billions. But in five years they estimate him to have 6,65 million if he stayed here. So let's think about that growth for a minute. Right, right now Joe has about 8 million subscribers. Eight times eight is 65. That's about an eight times growth. So eight times growth they're predicting in five years. Now if all things stay equal, and he might beat that pace as a matter of fact. But if all things stay equal, that means his estimated $5 million in, you know, income, ad revenue, however you want to describe that would be eight times. That's eight times five is 40. That's $40 million. So all of this makes it looks like it makes a lot of sense for Spotify to come in and swoop up the content. There is a content bidding war going on right now and clearly Spotify is investing very heavily in audio content. They're an audio platform. But with Joe, they also have talked about keeping that video component. It'll be available for the free, free users of Spotify. But it'll also of course be available without ads for anybody that has Spotify Premium, Spotify family, whatever the case may be. So breaking down these Numbers, a reported $100 million deal that's based upon incentives, it's a multi year deal. That seems like a lot of money, especially when we look here at the data. But what you can see is based upon the future predictions might have been a smart bet for Spotify to get involved with the Joe Rogan podcast. Probably a really smart bet for Joe sp sort of lock up where he's going to be able to go, that he maintains creative control, keeps the same team, keeps being able to do what he loves to do, which is create ridiculously compelling interviews with really, really interesting people. So congratulations to Joe. I've been following the podcast for a while. My biggest video actually ties in with Joe Rogan, and it was a rebuttal to a chiropractic take that he had. Just by far my biggest video. And I know that his. His followers are passionate. Just look at my comments and you can see that. But hopefully this gives a little bit of insight and is indicative of where things are going in the future. Audio is going to continue to be a big player. And again, congratulations to everybody at Joe Rogan Experience. You guys have done a great job building a fantastic audience, and it looks as though Spotify is going to be able to take you to the next level and maybe even reap the rewards of the risk that they're taking.
