Podcast episode (Evidence Based Chiropractor, Ep. 464) in which Dr. Jeff Langmaid reviews a recent comprehensive review of chiropractic research (1972–2024). The reviewed paper identified 6,286 chiropractic-related articles and 33 clinical practice guidelines, showing growth in research rigor and increased guideline recommendations for spinal manipulation (SMT) for conditions such as low back pain, neck pain, radiculopathy, tension-type and cervicogenic headaches, fibromyalgia, and shoulder pain. Prevalence of chiropractic use in the U.S. rose from ~4% (1980) to ~11% (2022). Safety signals (e.g., stroke association) have diminished; adverse events are rare (estimated ~1–2 per million adjustments for some events). The paper concludes SMT has reinforced clinical utility for spine-related disorders.
