Jeff Langmaid (Evidence Based Chiropractor) reviews Rock Blades by Rock Tape in a hands-on YouTube demo. He highlights premium packaging, two core stainless-steel tools (the heavier “mallet” and a lighter “mullet”), included accessories (Rock Rub gel, wipes, stickers), and the design focus on neurology-based soft-tissue approaches versus an adhesion-focused model. Langmaid praises build quality and multiple grip/edge options, notes the mallet weighs about one pound while the mullet is roughly half that weight, and points viewers to Rock Tape’s regular weekend trainings and a podcast with Rock Tape medical director Steve Capo Bianco for deeper background.

Chapters
Hey, everyone. Jeff Langmaid with the Evidence Based Chiropractor. And today I wanted to talk about Rock blades from Rock Tape. These are some ridiculously awesome soft tissue tools. And if you haven't had the chance to check them out, then I thought I could take a few moments and kind of give you the opportunity to kind of get behind the scenes, see exactly what their tools are all about and see if there are would be a great fit for your practice. So these are unbelievably popular in the CrossFit world, really in the chiropractic world as a whole. And it's all about soft tissue. So Rock Tape and Rock Blades have a little bit of a different take on that, meaning they look really at the neurological concepts and the neurology behind soft tissue more than adhesions. And if you want to do a deep dive on that, check out the podcast episode that I did with their medical director Steve Capo Bianco earlier this year where we dive into the research behind rockblaze. But the packaging is so awesome and the tools look so great that I wanted to get on video and show you exactly what that looks like. So you'll have a great idea as you move forward with Rock Blade. So as you can see, the packaging is really, really unmatched. I've never seen anything like it. And it's for good reason, because the tools are that valuable. So when you open things up, you have awesome sheet that showcases a whole bunch of great ways to utilize the tools ultimately. So it's got pictures, it gives you a good basic structure. Now with that, one thing that I will say is that Rock Tape is teaching how to use these tools all over the country every single weekend. So you don't want to just rely on this simple graphic, but it at least gives you a starting point when you get them in the mail in really, they have two core tools in here. So this is called the mallet and this is surgical steel. It's heavy. I mean, this weighs about a pound total, but it's just an unbelievable tool. So if you've used soft tissue tools in the past, I've seen some. They're small, they're kind of hard to hold. It's difficult to get leverage if you're trying to get in. Not the case with these. So this is again the tool that they call the mallet surgical steel. It's hand polished edges and you can grab this and utilize this in a variety of different ways. And as you can see, there's multiple different edges and kind of Concavities and convexities where you can use this across really the whole body. And it's an unbelievably fantastic tool. It's got kind of some of their mission statement etched in there. It's just unbelievable. But it is a little bit heavy. So you probably don't want to use this eight hours a day, let's say, in your clinic or somebody doing soft tissue work. So there's also a secondary tool. This is about half the weight. So this is lovingly called the mullet by them. You can see it's got a nice little bottle opener in there as well. So you can take it with you and have fun. But it's the same concept. It's a great tool because there's multiple different ways that you can use it and multiple different grip points in order to get the best soft tissue work with the least amount of restriction in the least amount of challenge on your body. Doing any sort of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization can be difficult, and it's a lot hard work. But having tools that make that work easier just goes so so far. The other thing that they give you in this package is some rock rub. So this is obviously, as you can imagine, it's some nice kind of gel or ointment, so to speak, in order to use things, and then a nice bit of wipe. So as I kind of open this up here. So basically there's some wipes here as well, some stickers to kind of wrap things up. But these tools are just, they're really unbelievable. And I know Rock Tape took the tape world by storm a few years back. And it's difficult to go to a single conference where they don't have their educators out there really talking about how to utilize their tools in chiropractic. But with so much attention lately on pro sports, on chiropractic within pro sports, within CrossFit community, I just hear soft tissue, soft tissue, soft tissue time and time again. And if you're using, if you're doing and utilizing soft tissue work in your practice, you need to have the best tools available, not only for your patients, which is job one patient centric care, but secondarily for your body. And there is just no better tools, in my opinion, than rock blades by Rock Tape in order to get that work done. I give them a massive amount of credit because the packaging is ridiculously awesome across the board. But I also know, and we talk about it in that podcast that I talked about earlier with Dr. Steve, but the design on this took multiple years to come. To fruition. They went through multiple design elements, and it's really a tool that gives you massive ability to utilize in a variety of settings. So you can throw this in your bag in your pocket if that's a little bit heavy for you, which I think it's weighted, it feels great. But if you're kind of just doing a clinic on the beach or you're really mobile, in that case, the mullet can fit anywhere you need it to and you can still get the job done. So check out Rock Blades by Rock Tape. If you own a set already, I'd love to know about your experience with it. Comment below, Let other people know about your experience with their instrument assisted soft tissue tools, and I hope you have a great week in practice.
