I know many people out there. I think a strong percentage of individuals struggle getting a good restful night's sleep. Some people get sleep, but it's not restful. Others can't get to sleep at all. Others are light sleepers. Why is sleep such a foundational element of just being able to have a high quality life?
I would say it's even more important than just high quality life. But sleep basically reaches into every part of our life, including a lot of chronic disease, a lot of mental function, and even when we get older, memory loss. And so I believe addressing sleep and addressing sleep problems is one of the number one things we can do, even on top of nutrition and exercise, which I spent a lot of my post grad in nutritional pain management. And so it was really eye opening to see how much sleep actually affects every part of our lives.
