1-Minute Mindfulness — Stop Overthinking (Quiet the Overthinking: Day 5 — Leave It on Read)
9 Oct 2026 · 1 min
A one-minute guided practice for quieting overthinking. Treat intrusive thoughts like unread texts: notice them with a mental thumbs up, then let them go. Breathe in, acknowledge the thought, exhale without engaging.
There's a fire inside you you can't ignore. Stand still? Not a chance. You're a lifelong learner who's come this far. Now we're here to help you keep going further. Capella University. What can't you do? Visit capella.edu to learn more.
Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. Here's a little secret your phone already taught you: you don't have to answer every message, and you don't have to answer every thought either. A thought pops up. You should have said something different in that meeting. You see it. You can leave it on read. What if everyone secretly thinks you're too much? Seen. Not replying. Did you lock the door? Are you sure? Like, sure, sure? Okay, maybe go check that one. Then leave the next 40 on read. Thoughts are like texts from that one friend who sends 20 in a row. Most of them don't need a response. They just want attention. And the more you reply, the faster they text back. Please take a breath in and give yourself permission that today, when a thought knocks, you will notice it, give it a tiny mental thumbs up so it knows it was seen, and go back to what you're doing.
Hold.
And exhale with the relief that brings. No debate, no essay, no 3-paragraph defense. You're allowed to have a life that isn't spent answering your own brain. You're allowed to put it on do not disturb, seen, not replying. Beautiful. I'm sending you so much love. If there's someone that comes to mind that could use a little peace, please share this with them. And please subscribe to keep returning to peace in under 2 minutes a day. Thank you so much for being here with me today.
