A short excerpt from a Jesse Ferrell motivational/business coaching talk about "power presence." The speaker leads a live, call-and-response workshop asking audience members to describe characteristics (influential, powerful, dynamic, charismatic, innovative, wealthy) and uses photos/attendees (including a Diplomatic Women’s Club table) to illustrate that presence is about how you show up, preparation, and the nonverbal signature you bring into a room.
If you think, you know, say it.
Influential.
Influential. Did I hear powerful and dynamic? Sharon says powerful and dynamic. Anybody else interested in serving others? Yeah, in a big way. What else? They're innovative. Yes. What else? Charismatic. You think it matters that you have some charisma?
I think they're all rich.
Mark's the money guy. He thinks they're all rich. Okay. With all those description of the power presence, do you think that these people in these photos are 10 times smarter than you? You think they're 10 times better than you? We know they're 100 million times richer than you. Look around you at your partners, and look to see if that person looks ten times smarter than you. Go and take a look. This table says we're smart. This is the Diplomatic Women's Club of America. Okay, what did you see when you looked around? Did you see anybody look 10 times smarter than you? Did he look 10 times dumber than you? The power of presence is about how you show up. The power of presence is about your preparation. The power of presence says, what is your signature when you walk into a room, can you change the dynamics of that room by the quality of your being without saying a word?
