A short YouTube monologue by Jim Katsoulis identifying the top weight-loss mindset error: approaching weight loss with an all-or-nothing attitude. He explains how extreme, short-lived plans lead to cycles of effort and relapse, and recommends adopting a realistic, 'always be doing something' mindset—preparing lower-effort options for low-motivation moments to sustain long-term change.

The number one weight loss mindset mistake that I see is people approaching weight loss with an all or nothing attitude. And this happens because they get super fired up and they say, I want to lose weight quickly. And they choose the most extreme workouts, the most extreme diets needing plans, and they follow them for a little while until they don't. And then they go right back to doing nothing. And they kind of flip flop between these two states sometimes their whole lives. The solution to this is to become all or something. Listen, there's always gonna be times in your life when you're super motivated. Great, be all, do everything perfect. But the real secret to changing your weight long term is to be nothing ever. Always be doing something that's helping you manage your weight. And that mindset is way more realistic because we can't just always be going 100 miles an hour in the right direction. It's just unrealistic. We're human, so we need to prepare right from the beginning. What am I going to do when I'm tired? What am I going to do when I don't feel much motivation? And you're not going to be able to do the all, but you can still do a lot of the somethings.
