2 Mind-Blowing Facts About Your Subconscious Mind

Jim Katsoulis explains why your subconscious ignores "don't" commands and can't tell imagination from reality. Traditional diets fail because telling yourself not to eat something makes you crave it more. Instead, visualize what you want to achieve, and your subconscious will work toward that goal.

It. Working. Hey everyone. Welcome to today's program yourself Thin podcast. Today we're talking about two mind blowing facts about your subconscious mind. And once you understand these, I think it changes the way you approach weight loss because they've always been there and they're affecting you. And if you don't realize them, then it's very easy to your entire life do the wrong stuff to get the results you want. And so the first mind blowing fact is that your subconscious mind does not understand negatives. So to prove this to you, if I tell you, don't think about what I'm about to say. Get your willpower together. Don't think about the word I'm about to say. Don't think about a banana. Don't think about a banana. You're thinking about a banana, okay? And you need to do this. As soon as I say the word banana, your mind instantly, your visual cortex lights up and meaning instantly pops up into your mind and you instantly think about it. So that's the first thing, is that we can't think about negatives, okay? The second thing is that your subconscious mind can't tell the difference between vivid imagination and reality. And to drive this point home, you can play along here if you want to. If I have you close your eyes if you can, if you're driving, don't, don't do this. But I want you to imagine that before you, there is half a, a lemon. I've cut a lemon in half and I'm holding it right in front of you. And I want you to imagine looking at that lemon. I want you to imagine smelling the scent of that lemon. And then I want you to imagine taking a big bite out of that lemon. Imagine biting right into the middle of that lemon, dragging your teeth along the bottom and all that lemon juice going into your mouth. Now, there's a good chance that you're literally salivating right now. If you went along with that imagination, why, you know there's no lemon in front of you. You're just imagining it. But it creates an actual physiological response. So when we put these two facts together, it really means a lot when it comes to your weight. Because every diet you've ever tried to do is fixated and focused on what you don't want to eat, who you don't want to be. And so you're constantly thinking about losing weight, which is subconsciously means you're thinking about yourself, overweight and you're focusing on the problem foods. You're focusing on sugar and sweets and baked goods and Pizza and bread and on and on. And your diet becomes, okay, I have to stop eating that food. But as we just found out, when I tell you to stop thinking about a banana, what do you start thinking about? So the diet subconsciously have fixated you on the exact thing that you do not want. And so it subtly makes it much harder to get the results you want, because you're subconsciously fixated and focused on the exact things that you need to eat less of in order to create the weight changes you want. And of course, when you focus on a food that you want to kind of dial down, you're also subconsciously starting to crave it. You're starting to salivate for those foods. And this is why dieting is one of the core psychological reasons why dieting is so difficult and ultimately is a failing strategy, because it's all based on what you're not going to do. Every diet is virtually focused on not eating certain foods, not eating food, you know, and doing all. Not doing all the things that you typically do. And so it makes sense logically that, oh, I'm gonna stop eating ice cream. But subconsciously, when you start the diet, what's really happening is you are fixating on ice cream. And we take that part and combine it with the other part where your subconscious makes it real. It starts craving this ice cream on a very, very deep, biochemical, physical level. So how do you deal with this? Right, and so. So once you have this knowledge, how do you use it to actually get the weight that you want? Well, you start focusing on what you actually want. Instead of focusing on losing weight, you focus on being at your goal weight. Instead of focusing on the food you want to stop eating, start focusing on the foods you want to eat and the quantity in ways in which you want to eat them. And when you start focusing and fixating on what you want to do, how you want to behave, who you want to be, what happens is you send your subconscious mind a direct signal of what you want to do. And this is a much clearer way to communicate with your subconscious mind than giving it all these messages about what's not supposed to do. And this changes everything. So if you've never really approached your weight loss in this way and you want to go deeper into it, click the link in my bio or go to program yourself then and go get the free hypnosis session that I made for you. It's called the New Thin Me. And it's literally takes everything we just talked about here into account so that you get a Clear image of who you want to be, what weight you want to live at, and what it will feel like. And you internalize that. And you set yourself up to focus on the exact place you want to go and how you're going to get there. And you start sending your subconscious mind a clear signal. So go check that session out. It's completely free and I believe it'll help you. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask them again. I don't know what's going on with Instagram. I cannot, can't stream there. I don't know what's happening. Just not working. But you know what, it makes it easier for me. I mean, it doesn't now because I did everything anyways to set it up. It's just not working. But anyways, hope you're having a nice day again. If you have any weight loss questions, feel free to ask them. I am here every Monday through Friday to talk to you about your weight, hopefully give you some new insights or strategies to use in order to get the weight that you want to live at. Where a lot of people when it comes to their weight, get stuck, right? And one of the main reasons people get so stuck with their weight is because they've only had dieting in their lives. So when it comes to weight loss, the only strategy they've ever learned really is dieting. And so I like to get on here and bring a different approach. And I guess if I had to sum up my approach in one image, it would probably be this goal weight pyramid right there. So in essence, we, we go deeper than just an eating plan. And that is so you know what's happening. My camera. Fix my, my other camera for. See if that's better. Oh, that is definitely better. All right. Yeah, I was getting blown out. It's a lot lighter in here, and my camera is just blown it out. So, yeah, so in program yourself, then we go deeper than just what to eat. We go into mindset, lifestyle and eating and still kind of light, but we'll leave it for now. And so, yeah, so when you, when you bring more kind of conceptually into the process, I think it gives you a better understanding what's actually going on in terms of your weight. And I think it gives you more paths to follow to get there. You know, dieting at the end of the day is really. It's always one path and it really doesn't matter. I mean, yes, the, the, the tactics and the philosophies. Change of dieting, right. So one diet may say, don't eat carbs. One diet may say don't eat fat. One don't eat for six, whatever. It doesn't really matter the specifics of it. What's always the same is the approach that you're going to be given this plan and you're going to jump into it 100% tomorrow with your willpower. You're going to force yourself to follow it with your willpower. And so dieting for most people is really exclusively about your willpower. How much can you get yourself to do what you want to do? And it really becomes kind of a battle. It's a fight. You know, how long can I force myself to behave this way? And for most people it ain't that long. And for virtually everyone it's not forever. And so most people that lose weight put it back on simply because they can't maintain that level of willpower, that level of controlling and micromanaging every little decision they make. So again, program yourself then we use that energy. Instead of trying to control your behavior in the moment, we use it to influence your behavior subconsciously so that you program yourself to naturally think, feel and behave in a way that brings you to your goal weight and allows you to stay there. So hopefully that makes sense. Sub Jane. Jane says please explain the best way to start the redo process. Well, Jane, you're in the program, so for you, the best way to start the redo process, I would say would go into the members area and watch the training under the PYT method. I would go watch that. I mean, that's the best way to start the redo process because it's a complete explanation of it. So I could sit here and talk about it, but I mean, I would talk about it in, in vague ways. I'm not going to talk about it for 40 minutes right now. Right. So it's like I would suggest go and watch that training and I will let you know I do have some coming down the pike for program yourself then. One of the things I'm working on right now, literally right before I get on here, is to. Is. Is using. Is actually like using different techniques to help explain the program more effectively. So that stuff will be coming. So. Jesus. I watched it, but I found it a bit confusing. Well, okay, the simplest way. Let me just do. The simplest way that I would suggest is there's a. There's an audio right underneath it that says PYT Redo rehearsal walkthrough. It's like five minutes. I would listen to that and go through it. So I literally Kind of walk you through the whole process. So. So that's probably the quickest way. And then when you try that, it'll work or it doesn't work. But then again, get on these calls and ask, start the redo process. Right. So, okay, we want the simplest way. What's the simplest way to start the redo process? You look over your day, you think about your day. You pick a moment that you're not happy with, and then you replay it in your mind the way you would like it to go. So that's as simple as I can give you. So don't worry about all the little details of it. You basically. Well, let me think about you for a second. So I don't know, eating ice cream, right? So you get a big carton of ice cream. And that night you're gonna do the reading technique. You look at the carton of ice cream and say, oh, I wish I didn't get a carton of ice cream. I wish I got a small carton of ice cream. Okay, so you go back in your mind, and you go back to the beginning. You, you play through one time, rewind it back to the beginning, and you redo it the way you wish you had done it, knowing what you know now, if you could have been calm, relaxed, grounded, the person you wanted to be in that moment. When it comes time to decide what you're going to do with the ice cream, what would you have done? If you were at your best, if you were most motivated, there was a million dollars on the line, what would you say in that situation? And you just imagine playing it through in that way. So go play around with that and then I will let you know. I mean, again, the redo rehearsal technique is more complex than it seems, you know, So I will fully admit that. However, I do believe that if you just play around with it, even if you feel like you're doing it wrong, that's fine. If you play around with it, you will have more specific questions about how to use it more effectively. Little Johnson says thoughts on 1.6 gram protein versus 2.2 grams per kilogram for muscle retention on a cut. I have no thoughts on that. I, I am not. I don't know if you could tell. I, I am not a muscle expert. I'm a goal weight expert. And so I don't know about grams of protein per what. I don't know any of that stuff. That is not my wheelhouse. So those are my thoughts on that. I am here to help people get their weight under Control by getting their mindset under control. I think that in a nutshell, that's the difference that I'm bringing to the table is that I think most dieters really think they just need, my God, my voice, excuse me, what's going on? Most dieters think they just need a plan to be given to them and then they will follow it. But the reality for most people is that the plan is not really the main issue. The main issue is that I can give you whatever plan and your issue is going to be that you can't follow it for very long because behavioral change is hard. You know, regardless, I could give you the perfect plan for you again in program Yourself then we have three kind of sections of it. One section is the goalway blueprint, right? So, so we have the goal weight blueprint. This is your roadmap, this is what to do. But then you need to know how to get yourself to do it. And that's the program yourself then technique. You use that to program your mind. And then there's the support piece and there's a lot of support. But one of the main pieces of support is the hypnosis system. You get a hypnosis five minute session every morning, ten minute one at night. You listen to. And that helps you transform from the inside out into the person you want to be. But it's a much more robust, comprehensive approach. It's not just. I don't think, I don't think anyone's going to be benefited by me saying, okay, here's your meal plan. I mean, even if I customize the meal plan to your exact specifications, you're still going to struggle changing your behaviors. And the reason why is because you can have all the logical reason in the world why this plan's better than what you're currently doing. But that doesn't make a shit of difference to your behavior because your behavior runs subconsciously on near autopilot. If you think about it, you know, it's estimated we make over 200 food decisions a day. And all those decisions are made on autopilot. You're not consciously making them, you're just making them in the background doing what you did. And that's how our brains work. Imagine like you wake up one day and you're going to pay attention to every little decision you make. You go insane. You don't have the conscious attention and focus to do that. It's unnatural. We're built to run on autopilot. We're built to kind of do what we did. And so to all of a sudden, the big issue with dieting is not, you know, it's not really the plan you have. It's the fact that changing your behavior is different than you thought, most likely because, again, dieting has trained you to think that. Well, just do it. Just make yourself do it. Here's your plan to follow it. Well, obviously there's more to it than that. If it was that easy, people wouldn't struggle so much with weight loss. We've never had more diets in the world. We've never had more information about what to eat. Again, that's not your issue. The main thing missing is that your mindset. You have the mindset of an overweight person. If you have the mindset of an overweight person, it's really difficult to live as a thin, healthy person. So again, I, I think most dieters just ignore. Don't know about the mindset piece of it. And I can't imagine any scenario where not influencing your mind and your mindset isn't a fundamental part of transformation and behavioral change. So. Well, Johnson says low key. Just need to track calories and not go over every day and you lose weight. Easy. Oh, isn't it? I get one of these every week. It, It's. I hate like that. I. I don't know. You know what I mean? I'm sure you're, you're Lil Johnson. I appreciate, you know, but. But it's not easy. You know what I mean? Like, this is, this is. I'm glad you said that because this is exactly what I mean. It's not easy. You know, I sit here, oh, just track your calories. Just eat a little less than you normally do. Just exercise and eat better. It's easy. Yeah, it's easy, conceptually. Yeah, it's. It rolls right off the tongue. But the reality of actually changing it is a whole nother story, you know? And I'm so tired of fucking goofballs that just. Oh, just. Well, then, in that case, everything's easy. Playing the piano is easy. Just hit the right notes at the right time in the right order, you get sweet music. What's the problem? Why are you struggling? Just play the piano. And it's like, clearly there's more to it than that, you know what I mean? And I say this because you dieters, in your own head, you're doing this little Johnson to yourself. That's easy. Come on, just do it. No, it's not easy. It's not easy. What do you want? It's easy. Every, Literally everything's Easy if you explain it that way. Literally everything. You want to play basketball? Really? Oh, just. Just shoot. Just practice. Just get the right. Use the right form and shoot it. Like, I can. L. I can do that with literally anything. There's clearly more to it than that. So I don't like what dum dums come in here and say it's easy because it's not. It's insulting and it's stupid to say that, you know, because if we're gonna be an Then everything in life's easy. So silly. Just need to do the work. Just follow the meal plan. Problem solved. This emoji. Just follow the meal plan. You know what I mean? I would Lil Johnson, I promise Little Johnson, maybe Lil Johnson loves working out and following meal plans. That. That's their thing, okay? But I can guarantee you that Lil Johnson's got an area of their life that they're not doing as good as they want to. Maybe they don't make the money they want to. Maybe they're not getting the grades they want to. Maybe have the relationships they want to. And so I say to you, in those areas of your life, what's the problem? Just work harder, Lowkey. Just be a better person and you'll have better relationships. This is easy, you know? And it's like, that's what I mean. Just saying things like that. It. It makes you feel bad about yourself. Not. Not Little John. Little Johnson's doing whatever they're doing. But for. For all of you listening to this, when you say, oh, it's easy. Just do the meal plan. Because instantly you go in your head, yeah, it is easy. What's wrong with me? What's wrong with me? Nothing's wrong with you. What's wrong with you? You never learned how to run your mind. You've never learned how to follow the meal plan in a way that works for you. And then you have people always telling you how easy it is and how, you know, it's your fault that you're not just doing this easy thing and it makes you feel like an. And you just want to not even think about any of it, you know? So it's not that easy. User 6 nights not that easy. Obviously it's not that easy. Little Johnson can't. Can't. Lil Johnson can't wrap their head around. It's just so simple. It's just. It's right there on the paper. Just follow it. But that's silly though, because I promise you, Lil Johnson's got areas of your life that you so Little Johnson is. Basketball takes skill, dieting, it's just choosing not to eat. Well, how do you develop skill in basketball, Lil Johnson? You got to practice a lot. So again, it's choosing. The choosing is always the issue, I guarantee. Lil Johnson, tell me about an area of your life you struggle with a little bit that you'd like to improve on. Good. Hit me with some area of your life that you'd like to improve. Money, grades, relationships, whatever. I'll do the same to you, see how you feel, you know, And I say this to you, I hope you all see this, because you gotta, this is what you have to do to protect yourself. Oh, Little Johnson just works on until it improves that. Then you got a great mindset, Lil Johnson, and you should, you should really appreciate that. You got such a wonderful mindset. I appreciate that. You know, but some people don't have that mindset and they need to learn it. If you don't know how to do something, you got to learn how to do it. And not everyone is the same with their ability to just take action. So what do you do? Because I work with people, it's cost $25,000 to work with me privately. So imagine the person that's able to pay me $25,000. They're clearly, they're very successful financially, and they're successful financially. They're very ambitious, they're very driven. They've got a lot of willpower and focus and ability to take action. So why are they not losing weight? Right. They're able to follow a plan and do whatever they're doing over here with work, but then when it comes to their personal eating and their weight, they're struggling. Well, I should send a Little Johnson's. Well, hey, just follow the plan. Just follow the plan. Oh, what do you mean? Just get the book and look at it. Yeah, I see people say, but I'm not lying to you as a coping. I agree with that. Yeah. I mean, people themselves, constantly, you know, I, I definitely agree with that. So I don't disagree with some of the things you're saying, Lil Johnson. I think that it's, it's insulting to assume that everyone has the same ability to take action in every area of their life. Because I promise you, Little John Jackson, Johnson, whatever. I promise you, there's areas of your life that you want to do better. You either want to do something or you want to stop doing something in your life that you just keep doing or you can't get yourself to start. I guarantee there's an area of your life that's like that. Guarantee it. And if I say to you, well, just do it or just stop doing it, what are you gonna say to me? Oh, just keep working on it. Okay, keep working on it. But why don't you just do it then? You know what I mean? Like, like we hit these walls. And when it comes to weight loss, the walls people hit is primarily a mindset. One Again, Lil Johnson, what kind of career you think you'll have helping people lose weight if you just go, hey, here's your meal plan. Who are you gonna help with that, that advice? That's what I'm trying to say. There's a deeper thing going on here. And I say this to all of you, because when you can see it, you can start fixing it and working on it. And until you do, you're just going to be beating yourself up that you're not doing the right thing, you know? So to me, it's like, we got to go, we got to dive into what's going on mindset. Why is this preventing you from doing the right thing or from continuing to do the wrong thing? Let's dive into what's going on there. Because the idea that, oh, just do it. Don't get me wrong. Just, just do. Works sometimes for a little while, but it rarely works long term because you're not going to fight against yourself. You know, Little Johnson says, I've never had it. Something I can't stop start doing. That's why I advocate just do it. Well, Lil Johnson, then you must be an absolute. I, I would love to interview you because you must just be successful in every area of your life. I've never had something I can't stop or start doing. So, I mean, you must be, you know, I, I must be just killing it, you know, every area of your life must just be off the charts. I, I can't relate. I, I absolutely cannot relate to that. I absolutely every day am dealing with things that I'm trying to stop doing and things I'm trying to get myself to start doing. Now I sit on top of a lot of things that I've figured out, right? But I cannot relate to that. I, I have spent my life trying to figure out how to get myself to take the action that works best for me, that I subconsciously resist for whatever reason, you know? But that's amazing. I'm happy for you, I'll tell you that. Little Johnson, you're. You're a lucky person, I'll give you that. Because I don't Think too many people can relate to that experience of just being able to have 100 control. You're like a robot, you know, it's like, oh, that's a good idea. I'm gonna do that. That's not good anymore. I'm gonna stop that instantly, you know, so it's hilarious. I don't believe it, but that's okay. But anyways, yeah. If anyone's got any other weight questions, feel free to ask them. I'm here to give you a different take on it. A different take than the just do it take. That basically, in a nutshell, that's kind of what I'm offering, I'd say. And I like, just do it again. I think there's a time and a place for just do it. I think for just do it for everything is impossible, though. You can't just do everything. You can't just do it forever. Not consciously. Not consciously. Me don't thinks. Yeah, look at that. There it is. Little Johnson's killing it. Yep, that's how I got my business. Amazing girlfriend, physic money, top grades, etc. It's not luck. Well, it is luck, Little Johnson. See, that, that, that's another thing that really I, I, I just find. Because you think you just worked for it, you know what I mean? I don't believe any of these things you're saying anyways, because I, I find the person who can't acknowledge any flaws, you know, is a person not to be believed. But even if that was true, I would hope you would feel extremely lucky, you know, that you had the genetics, the environment, the, the, you know, situation you grew up in to provide you with such a fantastic mindset. I can't imagine you wouldn't associate any of that to luck. I mean, did you choose your parents? Did you choose your environment? Did you choose how you raised your, did you choose those things? You know, so there's somewhere along the way there's a little bit of luck. Spam likely says how to go for 174 to 124. You know how you go from 174 to 124. The way I break it down is I think you got to kind of, you got to think like a 124 person. You got to live like a 124 person, and you got to eat like a 124 person, right? And so it's a layered process. And so obviously you got to change how you're eating. You know what I mean? Like, like that's, that's the obvious. Level. Right. Well, we'll talk on a little Johnson level here. Obviously, you got to reduce your calories, okay. You got to live at a lower average calorie consumption that you're currently living at. But, but how do you make that happen? And so again, program yourself, then it's an inside out approach to changing your weight. And so there really is more focus on what you're thinking than what you're eating at first. So we don't just start and program yourself then by counting calories and tracking everything. I mean, if you want to do that, that you're welcome to do that, but sometimes jumping in that way is kind of overwhelming. So, you know, in this program here, it's more about kind of identifying who are you at your best, what are your strengths? Let's build around those. Start to think of yourself through your strengths. Most people think of themselves through their weaknesses, especially if you struggle with your weight. And so we start thinking about you through your strengths. What are your strengths? How can we use those strengths to begin to change your behaviors so that you naturally are able to get to 124 and live your life there? You know, so it's a different approach. But the other thing I'd say, I guess go get my hypnosis session I give you for free. You can click the little picture of me up at the top left there, and you'll see the link, and I give you that. But I would say that's another way to kind of start because what that session will do is helps clarify in your mind what your goal is. You know, who, who do you want to be? Not just what you want to look like. Okay, that's part of it too. What you want to look like, how you want to feel, how you want to eat, how you want to behave, who you want to be in your life. You know, you at your best. That's, that's, that's what we're talking about. And as you start to clarify what that is, you start to clearly get a sense of who you are at your best. That's the beginning, in my opinion, because I think what happens is you start to feel pulled. You start to magnetize the goal and you start to feel pulled towards it, as opposed to most dieters feel like they got to kind of push themselves, you know what I mean? To, to go in that direction. So that would be some of the things I would mention. I suggest, well, Johnson says, I only feel lucky that I was born in Australia to a great family, but I didn't academic accidentally get all I have. No, I, I, of course you didn't. You know, I'm sure you worked for a lot of it. I don't doubt that. But again, the genetics, the experiences you had, you know, you should feel very lucky because you are lucky. You didn't, again, you didn't pick any of those things. I appreciate that you took advantage of your benefits and built on them. I think, great job, hats off to you. But I think, you know, appreciating and feeling lucky sometimes I think makes you a better person. Because as amazing as you are and as successful as you are in all areas of your life, this attitude, I would think would turn a lot of people off, you know, because again, you just, you hit the lottery. You hit the lottery in life and I know you worked hard for it, but lots of people work hard, you know, let me, let me give you different parents in a different area of the world and let's see, let's see what happens. You know what I mean? I just find it, I don't know. I, Obviously if you're going to be successful in life, you got to work hard. I get that. But, but, and I'm not saying there's not people that aren't obviously born in horrible situations and all the rest of it and work their way out of it, but even those people, I think, are born with something within themselves, you know, And I don't know, I look at things with definitely I feel very lucky for myself. I work hard too, you know what I mean? But I think working hard and being lucky, they're not mutually exclusive. And I think appreciating your luck is, I don't know, makes you a better person. Little Johnson says, I decided I wanted it and did the things I needed to do it to get it. That's actually how goals get met. All right, there we go. It's that simple, you know? Yeah. I don't know, it's just there's a way certain people talk, you know, that I just find limiting. Kimberly, Kimberly says I've been loving Jim AI. He talked me down from a chocolate binge. I know it won't be free forever. Will you ever offer Jim AI by subscription or anything for those of us who can't afford the program? Yeah, I may do that. Actually. I, I actually there's a little, little breaking news. I am working on a low cost program, so. And Jim AI will be part of that. Again. Jim AI is not going to be free for too much longer just simply because there's just, it costs me money you know what I mean? And it's not sustainable for. For that. But use it for now. Use it. Use it while you can. And yes, it will be part of it. And Jim AI is getting a major upgrade in the two here, so I'm super excited to roll that out all to you. Really cool stuff going on behind the scenes. A lot of, like, learning, science stuff being integrated into the program that's going to be showing up over the next month, I'd say. So if you're in the program right now, a lot of learning upgrades are going to be happening and you'll see them. And if you're in the program, you'll see it already with the, the live Q and as we do, you'll see the notes underneath them, I think are a huge upgrade over what it was. And I think even just looking through the notes, it's going to help reinforce a lot of the program and what you're working on. So that's just the tip of the iceberg. Jimmy I is getting upgraded and a bunch of other things too. So, yeah, keep an eye on that and I will keep you all up to date with it. Spam likely says, do I have to work out? No, you do not need to work out to lose weight. Okay. And I find for a lot of people not working out, for most of my clients, I do not suggest working out to start off with. Whoops. So, again, working out is great too, by the way. Please understand, working out is wonderful. But for most people, if you haven't been working out a lot and then you take on, okay, I need to work out to lose weight because that's what most people do, right? Most people are going to approach their weight loss and try and change everything because everyone's in a rush. But thing with working out is that, you know, there's good and bads to everything and starting to work out, there's good and bad to it, okay? And the bad side that a lot of people overlook is if you start working out, and especially the people that listen to me are always overthinkers, so they go all in on it, you're going to be more tired, you're going to be sore, you're going to be hungrier, your body's going to look to replenish those calories, and you're going to have to deal with the licensing effect. And so for most people, I find starting with exercising for weight loss is not a good idea. I think the better thing is to focus on your eating. And again, working out is great. I Think it's wonderful. But when it comes to weight loss, we only have so much energy. And I have found that most people are better off putting that energy into changing their eating than getting themselves to exercise a lot. So no, you do not need to work out. He says, well, sounds like the one size fits all mentality, the antithesis of reality for most people. Yeah, of course, of course. Well, John says, I'm not saying lucky because luck isn't a large part. I'm saying that excuses and mindset get one nowhere. Well, you know, but that, you know, to that point, I, I'll push back on that because I, I do think the excuses thing, I can't stand that, you know, I, I really can't. Now, now, Lil Johnson lives a charmed life. Lil Johnson has lived a life where when they decide to do something, they take action, focus on it and do it, and they succeed and they keep going until they succeed. So I applaud that mindset. I think it's a wonderful mindset. Okay, But I don't. Lil Johnson, I'm gonna guess here is probably a youngin. I'm gonna guess when I say young and probably under 25, if I had to guess, I'm just ballparking it. And so I get the feeling Lil Johnson has not been met with, visited by adversity in life too much. Right. Because little Johnson is just killing it. Set your mind to it, you do it. But I think what happens for, for most of us practical in a real life for an average person, again, you can be successful in lots areas of your life. At some point in life, you're going to struggle with something. You're going to have some area of your life that you're, you're struggling with. Again, as I said, you're going to want to stop doing some bad habit or bad thing that you kind of started doing and you're struggling to stop it or you want to get yourself to take some more positive action, you're struggling to get yourself to do that. I've never met a person who hasn't had to deal with that. Okay, so that's what I'm talking about. So again, Lil Johnson and this, this suggestion that you just get the plan, you just follow it, you do it. I, I, I agree a thousand percent. My question is, what do you do when you feel like, what's the point? Even if I follow the plan, I'm not going to lose any weights, my metabolism is broken and it's not going to work now. Well, John's gonna say that's just an excuse. You can call it an excuse, you can say, it's just an excuse. Is that going to help the person move forward? When someone's stuck with something, if you go up and say, ah, that's just an excuse. That's not even real. And is that actually going to help them move forward? Well, I've been doing this professionally for over 20 years and I can promise you that that doesn't help for shit when someone's genuinely stuck. Right. And again, I work with very smart, successful people. So when someone comes to me and they're like, I'm 50 pounds overweight and I've been struggling with this my whole life and I really just. I've tried this, I've tried this, I've done this, I've done this, I've done. They've taken lots of action. I can't stick with it. I keep screwing up. Now that's just an excuse. You're just making excuses. Just go do it. Just do it. This is so tone deaf. And what happens is, if you, if I kept saying that to the person, what they're going to do is, I will never see them again. That's what's going to happen. And in your life in a personal capacity, if you have a friend or a family member who's struggling, yeah, it's just an excuse. Just do it. They are not going to like you for very long because it's not helpful. It's not helpful. When we get stuck, we need to have something more than just do it. I would suggest, and Will Johnson again lives a charm life where they never, never had to deal with that. They just put their mind and they just do, they do what's right. But me, I don't. I struggle with things and I've struggled for my whole life. And over the last 30 years, I've had a new way to kind of approach it. And it's the opposite of that. I would say, instead of just saying, oh, it's just an excuse, I say their reasons a lot of times. Now, listen, there's certainly excuses too, granted. But I find my clientele, my overthinking, perfectionist clientele is well served by taking everything out of the excuse category and putting some of those things into legitimate reason category. And I will give you a recent one that I see all the time that I'm experiencing myself right now is the seasons. So I'm at the tail end of winter here in New England and I'm on the tail end of three straight months of darkness. And coldness and snowness. And I'm feeling that a little bit. I, I haven't been as active. I know I should have gone to the gym, Lil Johnson. I know, I know I should have been. I should have, I should have, I should have. I know I should have done all those things. Okay, but I didn't. And should I beat myself up for being a stupid asshole and just do the right thing, or can I seek to understand a little bit? And I have found that seeking to understand it for me is the path I choose. Because understanding myself and why I'm not doing the obvious things, I have found a lot more benefit in that overall than just beating myself and trying to whip myself to do the right thing. Because I found when I do that to myself and just keep whipping myself, I just dig in more, I resist it more and nothing changes. Things just get worse for me. So I much more would rather not. Just everything's an excuse and that's all. Let's look at what's going on here. And sometimes things are real reasons why we're struggling or why we're not doing the things we want to or not doing the things we don't want to do. There's real reasons there, and I find recognizing those reasons and resolving them is very helpful, you know, but again, you know, I think every, all of you have tried to just do it route, and I think most of you are, are running up against that wall now where you're trying to force yourself to do it and you can't, you can't get yourself to do it long term. And we don't all have the ability that Lil Johnson does. And if you don't have that ability, you're going to struggle with that kind of approach and suggestion. Spam likely says, what about fasting? Yeah, I mean, fasting. I use a version of intermittent fasting as a tactic, as part of a multitude of tactics. Right. So program yourself then is really about having a comprehensive holistic system to manage your weight. And so I use fasting. But I think the issue with fasting in the diet culture is that just fasting is going to fix everything. And I don't believe it's going to. If you've been struggling with your weight for 30 years, I don't think just not eating for 16 hours is going to magically fix your weight issue. You may lose some weight with it for a little while, but I think you're going to struggle to keep it up. Intermittent fasting is not some magic bullet. It's. I Think it's a great idea. I. I think again now, I don't intermittent fast 16 hours. I do 12, 13 hours. So I know sometimes that's not Herman fasting. Well, whatever I call it what I want, I come up with this 30 years ago. So I'll call whatever I want. But I know people bust my chops about that, you know what I mean? And so I don't give a. Because I am going to do the things that work for me. And I think that I. I don't think there's any example of one thing just working. So I don't think just working out, just intermittent fasting, just not eating carbs, just tracking calories. I don't think any of these things by themselves have a very high likelihood of success because I think that there's a lot more going on under the surface. You know, I think you got your mindset going on. I think the lifestyle's under there supporting it. And then the way you approach your reading and then how you run your mind, you know, and I think most people don't have that information. And so, you know, you're given 2% of the process, you know. So again, you know, just, for example, I always use it this way that the way I kind of imagine in my mind is that the dieting is basically this part of the pyramid. You know, what to eat, and so you're given a meal plan, and that's about that much. But then you never really focus on these, these things under here, you know, and so like someone like Will Johnson probably, you know, was raised with a good mindset, you know, probably had solid role models and good parents, good genetics, right? Probably they probably a healthier lifestyle, right? So you probably had good lifestyle habits and patterns reinforced from an early age, you know, that that's kind of how you think and that's how you live, and that's normal and natural for you. Now you've developed these habits. You probably were surrounded by people that good eating habits, you know, taught you good eating habits, nutrition, all this different stuff. And so now Lil Johnson's got subconscious programming that a lot of people don't have, right? If you're raised with, with Lil Johnson's, you know, experience in life, you've got a wonderful mindset, lifestyle and eating programming from, from an early age, and great role models, right? Great, great information coming in. But if you were raised, you know, with, with, I don't know, a totally different situation where you grew up on, you know, processed food, people around you, you know, have really bad Mindsets, really bad, you know, lifestyle habits, really horrible eating habits. Well, you've got a different set of programming. And so what's easy for little Johnson with that programming is going to be harder for someone with the other programming. I hope that makes sense. You can change it. I'm not saying you're doomed. I'm not saying this is your destiny now necessarily. But it's a factor. It's a huge fucking factor. Are we going to act like everyone's the same? I don't understand that way of thinking. And so, again, I'm not sitting here making excuses for everyone, but I'd like to look at this whole process with a wider lens than just zooming into what to do. There's clearly more to it then. I mean, if you're listening to this right now, I know you're a smart, intelligent person. The only people that listen to me are overthinkers that I consider to be pretty smart and intelligent. So I know you're smart, intelligent, and I know you succeed in a lot of areas of your life, but you struggle with the weight and the food. And, you know, just because you have these abilities over here with school and work and relationships doesn't mean you have them over here with your eating and your health and your weight just doesn't mean that. And I think recognizing that's the first step to being able to fix it and make it better. Danielle says how to deal with the mental insecurity when, you know you were leaner before and you're just hungrier now. The mental insecurity when you know you were leaner before, so you mean like you put weight on and now you feel insecure? I'm a little confused by that question because it's mixing a couple things up, you know, and now you're just hungrier. So maybe you're saying, I'm just hungrier now, and so my weight's higher and I'm not as lean as I was. All right, to that point I say, you know, and that. That's, in my opinion, program yourself then starts by choosing the right goal weight. And I think most people do not really have the right goal weight because you all have never learned how to choose the right goal weight. You've been given a goal weight. You've been given a goal weight by the magazines, by the BMI chart, by your doctor, you know, by someone you grew up with, your mom, your parents, you know, something like that. I think most people have no clue how to choose the right goal weight, you know, because what Is the right goal weight? First of all, what's the right goal weight? I think that's a funny question to ask because for most people, there's no there, there. What is the right goal weight? What the BMI chart says. Well, Lil Johnson says, who's to decide? Well, my definition of the right goal weight is the weight that gives you the best quality of life. I think that's a good way to go about it because these charts and things are kind of arbitrary. And so I think you look at what's the best quality of life for two reasons. One is what weight, what body will give you the best quality of life? But the other side is that in order to have that body, you've got to live a certain way to maintain that body. And this is why I think people, they ignore this part and they go into the diet and say, I don't give a what I got to do, I just want to lose weight. And they do something they hate. They're tracking every calorie and they hate doing it. Right. So if you hate what you're doing, is your quality of life better? Right. If you're miserable about how you're eating and you hate tracking every calorie but you're losing weight, is your quality of life actually going up or not? I think this is an important thing to focus on because why do most dieters, it's estimated 85 to 95% of dieters that successfully lose weight put it back on? Okay, so, so how's that possible? How are people putting the weight back on if their quality of life's gone up? And I think for most dieters, their quality of life has not gone up. What happens is the weight loss blinds them to how miserable this way of living makes them. That's why I always say the last person in the world to listen to about weight loss is someone who's actively losing weight because they don't give a what they're doing, they're just happy they're losing weight. It's really not until someone has been at their weight for a while that you should listen to them, in my opinion. Because then the excitement, because what most people, most dieters trade the excitement of the excitement and pleasure of the food for the excitement and pleasure of the scale going down is a one to one swap. And so it's not until the weight loss stops and that pleasure and excitement of the scale going down goes down. Now we see how you really feel about how you're eating and living. And the vast majority of dieters they don't like it and they start eating more. So again, I think we got to start this whole process by choosing the right goal weight and looking at our goal weight as the weight that gives us the best quality of life and recognizing that the number on the scale is not the only thing that determines your quality of life. It's how you're living and eating as well. And you need to find that sweet spot. So I think that probably the first step to kind of deal with the mental insecurity. Lil Johnson says that's what I don't understand. If I have a bad habit, I just stop it. It's not a skill, it's a choice. I mean, now I, I, Lil Johnson just trolling, but that's okay. I, I, I don't mind the trolls, but Lil Johnson again, is, you know, the most miraculous human I've ever met. Have you anyone here? Is anyone else here, have no bad habits ever? No one's ever stuck with them. All right? So again, Lil Johnson's the most like, you know, enlightened, evolved being we've ever, you know, gotten the, the pleasure of having on, on the live here. So, yeah, you would have no idea what we're talking about. Lil Johnson. You're like a creature from another planet. You've never had a bad habit. You just do what you're supposed to do. I, I, I'm in awe. I, I, I appreciate that. You should write a book about it. I would love to read. Sounds amazing. It sounds amazing. So funny. Well, John says metabolism is an excuse. I had to learn to not throw up to put on weight. I had to learn to not throw up to put on weight. Oh, because you had a slow. See that? You know what? Lil Johnson's one of these. Yeah. This is why I stay out of that world. Lil Johnson's wants to put muscle on, you know, and so they got a different mindset. Anyways, I ain't knocking it, you know, but this is why I say don't learn about weight loss from, from fitness trainers, okay, folks? Do not. If you're, if you're like a normal, I'm not saying you're, the fitness trainers aren't normal people. They're not in a way, though, okay? If you're, if you're a normal person who doesn't really like working out. I don't like working out a lot. Okay. I don't really like tracking every calorie. I don't, I don't like being that way. Okay? And so the last person in the world I would listen to about how to lose weight is a person that just lives for fitness. You know, maybe at some point I'll change my mind. I'll become that person, but I'm not that person. So I'm not going to listen to people like that. We're different. So this is another important lesson to learn how to manage your weight from people that are like you, that are getting the results you want. Don't listen to people that are, you know, like a little Johnson. I mean, a person who's just, you know, on a whole nother level than all of us, you know, Little Johnson just sets their mind and said, they just do it. You know, they've never. They've never had a bad habit in their lives. So if you. If you're talking Will Johnson and you start to realize, oh, this is a person that's never had a. They've never struggled with a habit. They never had a bad habit in their life. When they want to do something, they just absolutely boop. They do it right away. As soon as they. You realize that, you say, oh, okay. Wow. Amazing. Nice to meet you. Holy. You're. You're incredible. But I'm not going to learn anything from you because we're totally different. It's totally different. And it's the same thing with a fitness trainer. If you. You meet a fitness trainer, they just love working out and they love tracking calories and they love doing all this stuff. If you love doing those things, then follow them. But if you don't love doing those things, do not follow them because it's the wrong path. You're not like that. Most likely, I'm not like that. And I think a big part of really mastering your weight is figuring out what way is right for you. And I think that, to be honest, this little Johnson approach is the main weight loss approach. You've been surrounded by your whole life, where you have people just telling you what to do, and there's no sense of understanding you. There's no sense of understanding yourself. On a deeper level, try to understand what's going on, move forward in other ways, because for most of you, you're all over 40, and you've all tried to just do it way, and it hasn't worked for 20, 30, 40 years. I would suggest that the better thing to do now, instead of trying it again, is to try something different, because there are other ways. All right. Yeah. Jason would be so perfect. Why is it on here? He probably just let us know what. What perfection looks like. And I do Appreciate that. I appreciate little Johnson being on here and kind of talking. I genuinely mean that because I think it's good for people to see what a perfect person is. Like, who wouldn't want to see that? I think it's good. 1am says isn't interesting how dreams are formed from what sways within the subconscious. Yeah, it is interesting. I, I think dreams are fascinating. I think the subconscious mind's fascinating. And the cool thing about it is it's not like a direct linear relationship a lot of times. Very kind of surreal and, and all the rest of it. So I, I agree. Tree says. That's why I like the Facebook lady who says this is your reminder to do your stupid daily walk. She's realistic. Yeah. Again, I, I think realistic is the key word. You know, I think if I had to guess, Lil Johnson's probably a younger person who has a lot of time energy available to work out a lot. And I think there's a big mistake a lot of people make because a lot of people were really, really in it in there. Let's just say twenties, we'll keep it vague. But you were in your twenties and like everything was about, you're working out and you're, you're losing weight and looking good and flirting and all this stuff, right? Your whole life is kind of that. And then you start to live. You get to be 30, 40, 50, and life changes, motivations change, responsibilities change. And the thing that worked when you were 20 doesn't work now when you're 45 and hasn't worked for 20, 30 years. And I think again, what most people need is to vary up, become more flexible and how they're approaching this, start to look at with a wider lens. Because I, I, most people here even listening to this right now, are trying to do what Lil Johnson's telling them to do. You're trying to just. Here comes Monday and next Monday is the perfect time. Are you going to jump into the plan perfectly on Monday? You know, doing it perfectly, but you will do it perfect for a little while and then you will stop doing it perfect, most likely. And so if that perfect plan doesn't work, what are you going to do? And what most people are going to do again, that's what leads to the all or nothing mindset. Ella Johnson's got all or nothing mindset. It's all, it's all perfect, you know, so, so you don't want to focus on them because I can't be all. So I don't live in an all or nothing Mindset, because I know I can't be all, all the time. So I live in an all or something mindset. When I want to be all. When I'm all focused, I have moments of that for sure, and I go all in and I do it all the rest of it, cool. But I know most of the time I can't live at that level. Can't, don't want to, whatever. And so I have a something level. And that's been the big difference in my life, is that I replace the nothing level with a something level. And that I think is more responsible for the changes I've experienced and created my body than anything else. But that, that approach completely lives in a different paradigm than what Little Johnson's talking about of just black and white. Just do it, everything, just do the right thing. I, I live in the gray area. And I think most people, as you get older, move into the gray area because life is a gray area thing for most people, I would say, but we're not taught gray area strategies. Little John. Little John's out of. Just some comment that's on here, but I do appreciate it. Makes it interesting to me. Well, Johnson says, I'm not trolling. I'm just interested in your mindset because it genuinely makes no sense to me. Also, we do not enjoy working out or tracking calories. We hate it, just like you. Yeah, but Lil Johnson, I mean, you're completely just skimming by the part that you know what you've got. You've got godlike willpower. You've, you've got like godlike ability to take action. And so you assume everyone has that ability. And I don't believe that. And I, it's not true. Anyways, I, I could, I could break you down a little, Johnson. Explain why you're able to do what you're doing. If I understood a lot more context to your life and I'd be able to explain a lot more of it. But at the end of the day, you're a different person than me, for example. And so the strategies you use of working out constantly and tracking calories and hating it and getting yourself to do it. I couldn't get myself to do it. I would sabotage myself. I would not do it. I've tried it and I keep. No, you just make an excuse. Well, the excuse is that deep down, I don't give a fuck about working out hard. I don't want to track calories. It makes my life miserable, so I avoid it. Ultimately. No, you just got to do it. Did you not hear me? I don't want to do it. I don't want to work out hard. So that's why you're. That's why you're skinny fat. That's why you're skinny fat. See, that's why you get what you get. Well, great. But I am what I am, too. And I. I promise, again, well, well, Johnson, again, is a godlike creature. And again, I appreciate him stopping by the thing because they've never struggled with anything, you know, so this idea that we would be talking about in this live, about how people struggle to change up their behaviors is so foreign to them. Can't even. Can't relate to that. They've never. They've never struggled to get themselves. Yeah, there's hard things to do they hate doing, but they just get themselves to do it. And it's all. I. I wouldn't believe Lil Johnson at all. And, and I promise you that there's something that Will Johnson's struggling with. But again, I say this, and I have this conversation going because I want you all to hear this, because you're all internalizing this voice. You're all intern. You've all internalized. You talk to yourself the way little Johnson's talking, as if you should just. Just do it. And you simplify to make it seem so easy. And I don't believe it. Is that easy. Is that. Am I making excuses? Am I just placating people? I don't believe so. I don't believe so. I think that there are real, genuine reasons why people do what they do. And I think it's understanding those and moving at them strategically is the better strategy. And I think it's vastly superior to just do it. If just do it worked, all of you wouldn't have any weight issues. You've all tried just do it for years and decades. You don't have to just do it. Muscles that Lil Johnson has. Lil Johnson can just do anything. You can't. Most likely I can't. And I acknowledge that and accept that, and I choose a different path. I'm not trying to take Lil Johnson's path. I'm not Lil Johnson. I don't have these godlike qualities that, that. That they do. Karen says, I put all. I put my all into my children, and they are very successful. I'm just a proud mom now. Finally, I'm taking care of me. I'm learning to go to events, have the cake, and start over from there. I did give bad eating habits to them. And as adults, they are working on that one son is a professor at John Jay, one is an emergency room nurse. I'm grateful I found you and shared your podcast book with them. Oh, thank you, Karen. I appreciate you saying that. Yeah. And that's, again, it's a common pattern. And one thing I want to say to that specifically, because I know a lot of parents, you know, that that becomes a thing. You know, you just. Again, you're just in the thick of life. You know, you've got the thoughts about food and the history you've got about food, you bring into being a parent, and you pass it down to some degree. And then halfway through raising them, you realize, oh, shit, that's not good. That's not good. That's good. He's. Oh, God. I gave that to them. And so it can feel. You can feel guilty about it, you know, but what I want you to remember is that you always did your best. You always loved them more than anything in the world. And we make mistakes. You know, I think as parents you're signing up for guaranteed you're going to make some mistakes, you know, along the way. So I think the best we can do is acknowledge that and then correct them when we recognize them and understand that we're not perfect people and that we're doing the best we can. And so I love that. I thank you for sharing that, Karen, because I think ultimately, I think that with my own kids, and they're still a little bit younger, so I'm out of the phase where I realize all my mistakes yet. It's coming, you know, but when it comes, I just hope they can show me the grace that, you know, to be honest, I show my mom, you know, because I know she wasn't a perfect person, but boy, does she her heart. There's no one in the world that wanted more the best for me. Does that mean she was perfect? No. And so I'm okay with. With imperfection, you know, because I know her heart was so, so solid. And I look at my kids the same way. I know I screwed up certain things, but. But my heart was there, you know, and so. So I like what you say, Karen, and I think it's so cool that you can acknowledge, oh, that wasn't a good thing I did. Let's this how I'm working on fixing it. And I think that's really cool if you can engage with your personal development and becoming a better version of yourself with the people in your lives. I think that's. That's kind of like the ultimate. So I think that's really cool. Danielle says, how do you not look to food when you're bored and slightly hungry on deficit? That's a great question, Danielle. I think board, let's start with bored first, because I think that's an easier answer that I think pretty much all emotional eating, in my opinion, is a symptom of something deeper. Okay. And so when it comes to boredom eating, you're boredom eating because you're bored. Oh, no. Right. But the problem in the solution, in my opinion, is not to not eat when you're bored. Right. Because then you're just gonna be a skinny, bored person. I think the real solution is to find things in your life that stimulate you and entertain you that aren't food. You have to understand, in this culture, we've all been conditioned to use food as our main emotional management strategy. So whether we're celebrating or we're feeling bad, we've been conditioned to think about food and use that food to kind of celebrate or get us out of feeling shitty. So we all have some level of that. And I think that when it comes to boredom, you know, it's easy to grow up in the society and use food as entertainment and stimulation. And so it's not about saying no to entertainment and stimulation from food as much as it is saying, what are some other ways I can stimulate, entertain myself that aren't food and start becoming a more interesting person. Pick up a couple hobbies, read a book, start playing an instrument, join a club. I don't know. You know, there's so many things to do in life. And I think a lot of people, they think the goal is I'm going to stay, keep doing the same shit that makes me bored as hell. But I'm not going to eat while I'm really bored. And I don't think that's really the solution you want. Okay, So I think the thing with boredom is when you get bored, what are some other things you can do in that situation that don't, that don't involve food? And a lot of those things, again, hobbies, things you're interested, things you used to do and you kind of forgot about. And I think it makes you more interesting person. I think it starts to absorb and occupy a lot more of your mind. And that pulls away, you know, from thinking about food so much. And then it's slightly hungry, I think, slight, slight hunger. I think is, is a necessary feeling to lose weight. And I think, you know, ultimately you want to get comfortable feeling slightly hungry. You don't want to get you're never going to be comfortable feeling really hungry. And that hunger is almost always going to win. But I think learning to relax and calm down and be able to interface with slight hunger, I think is really important. So again, I think the main thing is when you get slightly hungry to just relax, turn your attention inwards and calm down. Notice what you're thinking, what you're focusing on, what you're saying to yourself. Relax yourself and realize that you're gonna be fine. You know, slight hunger, it's okay. So those would be some suggestions. Yeah, says life isn't black or whites, the grays that predominate. So agree. Yeah, of course, of course. I just knew it was the Nike mentality, in fact, in the culture decades ago. Agreeing and, and listen, you know, I think that the just do it thing, I think is so simultaneously great and toxic at the exact same time. You know what I mean? Like, I think sometimes in life, just do it is the, is the perfect, the perfect slogan, the perfect solution, you know? But then I think there's other situations where it's not, you know, like if you're just, for example, just as an example, you know, imagine if you're raised by an abusive mom, okay? And she is abusive and mean, but the only time she shows you love and affection is when you guys are eating, cooking cakes together secretly. Imagine you're raised that way. And so now what happens is you create this association in life that love is food. The only time my mom really showed me love and affection was when I was eating. And so now you're 40 years old and you're eating. You don't know why. It's because you get this deep seated, subconscious association to food equals love. And it's never just one thing. It's layers and layers and layers and layers of stuff. But it's a subconscious thing. And so just do it. In that case, hey, come on, just do it. Just do it. It's like, Jesus Christ, you know, just do it to me is like, just say no to drugs. So again, yes, sometimes it's the right answer and sometimes you're in it so deep that that ain't the right answer anymore. Both can be true. And so I think the just do it thing though, I think a lot of people beat themselves over the head with the just do it. And I think again, as I said, sometimes it's appropriate and sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's not. And I hate it because it's so simplistic and on paper it seems like always the right answer. Because technically it could be, but again, it's no different than again, just, just do it. It's, it's, it's just denying a bunch of reality, in my opinion. Teresa says, well, the medical profession is not far from that thinking, especially when they advise about obesity and most don't know or understand. Well, that's very true. That is very true. Erica says, I just recently found you on Facebook and I think you're amazing and I enjoy learning from your wisdom. Well, thank you, Eric. I appreciate that. That's why I'm here. I do this every day, Monday through Friday. My mission in life is to help as many people as possible live at their goal weight. And this is part of how I serve that mission. I've been doing this for over three years. I'm here every day, Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern. And I do this for free. Literally, you come and ask me questions, I will literally coach you and do what I can to help move you forward. I think the more you get to hear a different perspective, the more empowered you're going to feel and the more understanding you're going to have about how to do this. I think the diet industry has kind of screwed you all, screwed all of us really. And they don't give us the full strategy. They just kind of give us part of it. They tell us what to eat, but never tell us how to get ourselves to do it consistently. And I think we keep running up against walls with things. So. Yeah, but I appreciate you saying that. So, yeah. Glad you're here. And make sure, you know, if you're, if you're here and you're kind of new, make sure you go get the free hypnosis session I give you all. Again, you go to program yourself then I'll put the link here. Actually, if you're in Facebook or YouTube land, I'll pop this link in. It used to be Instagram land, but I don't know. Instagram is not. The stream has not worked the last couple days. So I apologize for anyone that watches over there. But anyways, yeah, go get that, go get that hypnosis session. What's up, Christina? Christina says, I ran a 475 million dollar budget for 35 years and struggle with my weight for the same amount of time. Life is not perfect. Yeah, I know, Christina. So again, a very smart, intelligent person. But this is what I mean and this is most people torture themselves because they're, they're successful over here. They struggle with their weight and they beat themselves over the head the whole time that they should just do it. But the reality is if you're struggling with your weight, there's probably some mindset stuff that needs to be tweaked and shifted. You know, we need to take a more strategic, wider lens approach to it than just do it. But yes, I appreciate you saying that. Will Johnson says. So you're saying sometimes you want to do not do something and physically can't. Oh, physically can't. Little Johnson, you got me now. I can physically do it. I don't want to do it. I'm not gonna do it. Little Johnson is again, never, never not done what they wanted to do. But no, I can absolutely do something and I just say no, that I'm not doing it. So no, physically I can do it, Mentally I ain't gonna do it. All right. Could I do it though? Yes. Am I gonna do it? No. How do you deal with that, Lil Johnson? You've never had to deal with this in your life, so you wouldn't understand. But tell me how you move me past that. Yeah, you know, I think that's what everyone deals with physically. Yeah, we can all. What we can do physically isn't what we're going to do mentally. But again, that's spoken like someone who's never had a struggle with their behavior before is true. I now do to diamond painting, legos and adult coloring when I'm bored. Yes, yes. Tabby cat. Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I, I think hobbies are really one of the, the secret, secret paths to, to get in control of your weight. I know it sounds odd, but I think, to be honest, I think a lot of people are bored out of their minds and it's not, it's not hard to understand. I mean, we live in a culture where it's just so easy to sit and be entertained. You know, it's like we would sit and watch TV or scroll and whatever and it's so easy to sit here and have it brought to us. But you know, there's a dark underside to it where we're not in control of our emotions and we don't have the ability to manage them because we rely on other things to do it. So yes, when you start taking upon hobbies, it's just, there's multitude of benefits you get out of that, you know. But yeah, one of the big ones is when you get bored, you have a genuine non food related way to deal with it and I think that's really, really helpful. Yeah, well, Johnson says, I'm saying Something you want to do, obviously. Well, yeah, but how? What. You know, okay, Lil Johnson, it's called ambivalence. Again, you would not know what ambivalence feels like, but ambivalence is the state of wanting to do something and not wanting to do it at the same time. So, you know, again, you wouldn't understand this, but how us mortals experience it is we want to eat better. And then we. We also want to eat the cookie, though, and they battle against each other. So what do you do? Oh, you just do it. There you go. Everyone you know. So what do you do when you're ambivalent? What do you do when you want to do something, but you also don't want to do it? Again, you wouldn't understand what this feels like, but it's the issue that most. Most people are dealing with. Save the Dolphin says I cut out sugar and carbs since January 1st, and I can only lose one kilogram every 10 days. I'm 56. Help. I mean, you know, to cut out all sugar and carbs for. For two months, you know, I. I think that's an over. I think that's an extreme thing to do. I think you're probably stressed to the gills, if I had to guess. You probably feel like you're white knuckling it. Like, how much longer can I keep this going? And so you're probably flooding your body with cortisol each and every day, because cutting all sugar and carbs out is an intense, extreme experience and thing to do. So again, my first thing would be to start relaxing and calming down, you know, and I take aim at the cortisol. The next thing is that you can cut sugar and carbs out and still consume a lot of calories. So again, it's the licensing effect at play that sometimes when we do something good on one hand, we tend to follow it up with something not so good on the other hand. And so that can show up too. So pay attention to your stress levels and pay attention to the licensing effect to make sure that your calories aren't still just as high. Because we can cut sugar and carbs out and still eat a lot of calories. So don't be blind to that because you're doing something great. And. And I know how great it is to cut sugar and carbs out completely. Anyways, again, quality of life issues. Most likely, you don't want to live that way forever. So I'm not a big fan of completely cutting things out like sugar and carbs. I'd much Rather moderate them because I find that that leads me to have a much higher quality of life. But that's a decision you can make. Yeah. Save the dolphin says, I'm so focused. Yeah, I'm sure. I mean, you got to be focused. You're gonna cut carbs and all sugar out. Well, Johnson says just do the one you want to do more. Yeah, but what if I, I don't want to do it more. I. I don't want to eat cookies because then I finish the cookies and I feel upset that I did that and then I'm upset about my weight and then I want to not eat the cookies. And then later I'm great that day, and then that night I'm like, what's the point if I can't eat cookies? What's the point of living? Then I eat the cookies. Then the next day, that night I go to bed and I'm really pissed off myself. Tomorrow I'm gonna not eat the cookies. What do you do then, Lil Johnson? Welcome to the real world, little Johnson. I'm happy for you because at the very least, hopefully you got a little bit of a more in depth understanding of people that aren't like you. You know what I mean? Or hopefully give us a little bit of compassion that not everyone has this rock solid golden mindset you got. You know what I mean? It really is a gift. You are luckier than you think. You know what I mean? Like, I promise you, you are lucky than you realize to be able to just, you know, be 100% in control of your behavior. It's a real gift. So enjoy it. Rhonda says I weigh 203 and my goal weight is 160, 165. In the past, I would fast, do intermittent fasting, eat one meal a day. I'd reach my goal, but it was not sustainable. I did not have a maintenance mindset of what to do after meeting the goal. Would it be okay to do these strategies again, but have in mind to start a maintenance plan when I get there again, or start the maintenance plan at the very beginning. Thank you. Yeah, Rhonda, great. I appreciate that question so much. And again, I feel bad. You've taken all this work in the past and you've gotten results, and then you can't keep it up. And those are the people that I'm going to be. Those are the people that I'm going to focus on the most because it's like you're willing to take action, right? And, but, but you don't have a long Term strategy. So it's. It sucks even worse because you take all that action and then it goes away. So I think you're. You're on the right path, though, with your question. What I would suggest and what we do in Program Yourself Then is we start day one thinking about maintenance. Because the big difference with Program Yourself Thin and dieting is. Dieting is all about getting to your goal weight. Program Yourself Thin is about living at your goal weight. And so right from the beginning, we're thinking about maintaining what's maintainable. And if something's extreme and not maintainable, don't do it. What's the point? I think the biggest extreme of that is people that dry fast. Nothing's going in here. Okay, great. You lost a bunch of weight for 20 days. What do you think is going to happen after 20 days? You're going to start eating and the weight's going to go back up. And I just find that so destructive to our motivation, our mindset. So, yeah, I would start with the. With the maintenance plan, and you can learn from all your experience. That's the big thing here. I want to say with Program Yourself Then, it's really built for people just like you who have taken lots of action, done lots of things. Because what I want you to do is start to learn from all your experience. Unfortunately, dieters rarely learn from their experience. They just maintain and continue the exact same path and what they're doing. So what I want you to do is I want you to look at what you've done and see what's worked for you and what hasn't, you know? So you look at intermittent fast. Well, Internet fast was pretty good, but by the time I got to, you know, 10:30, I was ready to kill someone because I was so hungry. Great. Start eating at 10:30. You know what I mean? Like, there's nothing magical about that last hour, two hours of fasting. So again, if you go into this, you start again, but you start with this idea that I want to live this way for the rest of my life, and you use that as kind of a criteria so that anything that's so miserable, you don't want to do it, don't even do it. Like. Like, I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna start going to the gym every day for an hour. I'm never gonna keep that up. I don't. I do not want to do that. Would I get great results? Sure. But I'm not gonna keep it up. So what's the point? So instead, I'd rather do 50 push ups a day or 10 push ups a day, whatever. I, I've done that. I do, I do push ups now every day. But I started five push ups, you know, after my shoulder surgery and stuff. After a couple months, I did five push ups, you know, now I'm up to a lot more. And, and, and that's cool, but it's like, what do I do now? 120 push ups a day. And so it's like, cool, right? But it's like. But then. Oh, yeah, but you should go to the gym. You, you know, good lord. You know what I mean? We, we can overwhelm ourselves so quickly. And I've gotten really sensitive to if I overwhelm myself, I avoid that because if I feel overwhelmed, I'm not going to keep it up. And so I think you've got a lot of wisdom and experience now, Rhonda. Go into the next, you know, begin again, though. But begin with the maintenance in mind. Start with your maintenance right from day one and only do things that you feel it could be sustainable. Now, don't get me wrong, when you first start doing things, it feels harder than it does a month from now when you kind of normalize to it. But you got to recognize, don't, don't go way overboard with the extremeness that's absolutely unsustainable. Do things that feel relatively comfortable. And if you do that, you know, a month from now, they're going to feel really comfortable. And then you can add on top of that, you know. But I think if you approach it that way with all your experience and wisdom, you'll get much better results. And at the very least, it'll be a different process. Well, Johnson says if you're going to be upset about it later, then don't do it. You know what? I appreciate this little Johnson. I do appreciate the, the, the simplistic nature of what you're saying, you know, as if, because, because again, you can't understand us humans, how we operate, but sometimes people do things that they know they shouldn't do, don't want to do, are going to feel bad about, and they still do them in the moment. You wouldn't understand what this is like. But, but this is how humans operate. And, but I'm glad you know, listen, everyone, I might just wrap up the lives from now on. It turns out if you're doing something, if you're eating something that's going to make you overweight, just don't do it, folks. You know what? I'm just going to take this, this whole 144 page blueprint book I got, you know, like, like my whole program. I'm just gonna get rid of it and I. Hey, if, if you don't like being overweight, don't overeat. I, I don't know why I've been making things so hard. I don't know. Well, I don't think Lil Johnson's ever been a human being before. Yeah, yeah. Well, Vicky, I guess that, that's the, the gift layers in a straight line. It is funny though. But again, it's this idea that we're just robots and just do the right thing, you know? But anyways, all right, I get out of here. I gotta get out of here. If you're not in my world, make sure you click the link in my bio. If you're on Tick Tock, click the picture of me up there and then go down. And if you're on Facebook or YouTube, click the link in my comments there. Go check that out. Go get the free hypnosis session though, if you haven't gotten it yet. I think it's a great session, you know, and I would definitely recommend it. I'm here every day, Monday through Fridays around noon eastern. So go check me out if you like this sort of thing. You know, I'm here every day. And if you can't make the live, it's also a podcast so you can search any podcast platform search program yourself. Then and there I'll be. And then you can listen anytime you want. And finally I wrote a book. There it is, the Dow living at your goal weight. You can check it out. Written by yours truly. It is a collection of short stories and seeming poems. I got my first negative review yesterday. I don't know if I was talking about that here or somewhere else, but got my first negative review. And they should say this so called book, it's just poems and stories. Well, yeah, but, but they're poems and stories that are hypnotic and they're built to change the way that you think so that it makes it easier for you to get to your goal and stay there. So go check that out again. It's available at Amazon, you can get the, the Kindle version for 299 and I think the physical version, which I'd recommend, it feels awesome. It's nice to have in your house, is 9.99. So go check that book out if you're interested and yeah, I'll. It'll be there for you. Yes, Lil Johnson, thank you for the debate I. I appreciate you being on here. It does. It helps me make points and stuff. And I genuinely appreciate talking to you. So thanks, thanks for kind of go back and forth. It makes it fun for me. And thanks everyone else for for your comments and questions. I really appreciate it. We will talk soon. Have a great day.
