Instead of trying to motivate yourself to lose weight by beating yourself up, why don't you take a second and relax your shoulders, your chest, your stomach, and your face. Take a deep breath in, let it out, and in your mind, imagine what weight you want to live at. And imagine that you woke up at that weight tomorrow morning. And imagine yourself hopping out of bed in that body and at that weight. Imagine getting dressed in the exact clothes that you want to wear at that weight in that body, putting them on, looking in the mirror and seeing yourself. And then imagine yourself moving through your day in that body. How you move, how it feels, how it affects your stamina, your strength, your flexibility, your physical comfort. Simple things like moving up and down stairs, getting in out of cars, in and out of chairs. Notice how it feels to live in this body. Simple things move through your day. And imagine speaking with other people in this body as this version of you. Notice how you eat and what you want to eat. Notice what behaviors and habits you have. Allow yourself to connect to your goal and experience it through your imagination. And notice if you feel more motivated now than you do when you beat yourself up.
