The most powerful weight loss question you can ask yourself is, why do I want to lose weight? And you cannot accept an answer that is only based around looking better, because that's not going to be enough motivation, even though you think it should be. And to prove the point, I know you've been thinking about looking better for years and years, maybe even decades, and how have your results been? It's not enough motivation. It's an extrinsic motivator. It's the weakest form of motivation. So what is a better form of motivation? It's when you start looking at your weight loss as an opportunity to live longer, to have a better quality life while you're here. So you need to upgrade your motivation. You can still want to look better, too, but you need to make this about more than just looking better. And so as you start focusing on the fact that if you eat better and live healthier, you're most likely going to live longer. And during those years, you're going to have a much higher quality of life because you're going to have more energy, you're going to be more mobile, stronger, more flexible, you're going to feel better about yourself. You're going to go through your life with a freedom from the weight and the food struggles that you've had in the past. And so as you start to fixate on these things, you start to tap into a lot more motivation. And that makes the whole process easier, because the more motivation you have, the easier it is to master your weight. So take some time and answer the question, why do you want to lose weight?
