being thin is a skill

Jim Katsoulis breaks being thin into three learnable skills: a thin-person mindset, a sustainable eating blueprint that kills cravings, and daily habits that support consistent choices. He argues it takes time and lifelong dedication, not quick fixes.

Being thin is a skill that you develop over time. And there's three specific skills that, once acquired, will allow you to live at your goal weight for the rest of your life. Number one is your mindset. And this is the most important one out of all of them, because without this, nothing else matters. So when I talk about mindset, specifically, I'm talking about your self image, the way you think about yourself. In order for you to live as a thin person, you need to think of yourself as a thin person. The second piece is your motivation, and I'm talking about deep, deep motivation. The type of motivation you may feel for your work or for your children, or where even when you're not feeling well, you're still showing up to do the job. That's the type of motivation you need to live as a thin person. And the third piece of your mindset is your subconscious programming. The way you think about yourself, the way you think about food, the way you think about exercising, are all dictating your weight. The second skill you need is to have an eating blueprint. This is a way of eating in your life that not only allows you to live at your goal weight, but more importantly, keeps you feeling satisfied so that you're not fighting cravings and hunger all day long. The third skill you need is a lifestyle plan that allows your body to operate at the optimal level. So often people are living lifestyles that have their unhealthy cravings going through the roof, their moods are all over the place, they're hungry all the time, and their body is operating at a sluggish level. So you need to live a lifestyle that boosts your energy, that reduces your cravings, and gives you the clarity of mind to easily make the right choices over and over again. So this is an overview of some of the skills you would need to live as a thin person. And as you could probably imagine, it's going to take a little bit of time to acquire and develop these, which is the opposite of how most people approach weight loss, because they just want quick, quick fixes. But that's not how you live as a thin person. You need to dedicate yourself to this for the rest of your life, but it' worth it because the rewards are so great.
