Jim Katsoulis presents a short coaching monologue arguing for "consistency over intensity": rather than adopting extreme, short-lived plans to chase fast results, favor lower-intensity habits you can sustain over time because sustained practice produces the long-term results you want.

My consistency over intensity philosophy. If there is one pattern I've seen over and over again in my 20 years of coaching, it's that when people get motivated to create a change in their lives, they tend to choose the most extreme plans so that they can get the fastest results. But what usually happens is they're able to follow that plan for a little while and then they stop doing it. And so what I would suggest to you is that you orient yourself instead to consistency. Even if the intensity is lower, even if the results come a little slower, it's going to serve you much better if it's something that you can do over time, because that is where you're going to get the results that you're looking for.
