Don't Diet. Do This Instead.

Jim Katsoulis argues diets fail because they're unsustainable. Instead, build small habits like better sleep and hydration that reprogram your subconscious, so you can live at your goal weight forever, not just reach it.

Everyone, welcome to today's program yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about don't diet, do this instead. Right? I come to this with you at the beginning of a new month here. And this is also a Monday, so a lot of people are going to start a diet today. And my goal is that you don't do that because it's not going to help you. Sorry to sound so negative, but if you start a diet today, it is almost guaranteed that by next week you won't be doing it. If you're doing it by the end of the week, next month at this time, it is almost a certainty that you won't be doing it. And you probably already know that deep down inside, which is why you're not really approaching it with a whole lot of excitement and hopefulness. Anyways, and so I want to give you an alternative way to approach it if you want to get control of your weight. Because I love the motivation, I love the excitement. Want to change your weight. I hate the strategy. The idea of dieting is so ineffective at this point that it really is not even worth trying. He says, what do I do? I gotta do something. Okay, I'm tell you what to do. And I think what you do is that we take a step back and we look at this differently. That's the first step of what you do. You want to change your weight. I got good news for you. You don't have to start dieting or changing how you eat or exercising. Let's just relax, take a step back and think about this from a slightly different angle. That if you're really looking to change your weight, the first thing you got to recognize is that you don't just want to lose weight, right? So again, dieting gets you into this hyper focused, obsessed, frazzled mindset where you're going to try and change everything so you can lose weight quickly, so you can get to your goal weight. And that whole energy, that whole focus is wrong because your goal is not just to lose weight. You don't just want to lose weight and get to your goal weight. I know you think you do, and it's exciting to think about getting there, but your real goal, when you calm down and relax. This is why we took a step back. Look at the big picture isn't just to get to your goal weight. You. It's to live there. It's to live at your goal weight forever. Getting there is just the first phase, but the real goal is to live there for the rest of your life. So once we realize that's the real goal. We can relax. There's really not a rush here. I know we've been conditioned. When we think about weight loss, we have to think about we're going to rush, we're going to do as quick as possible. I'm going to drastically change what I'm doing so I lose weight fast and get to my goal weight. But that way of approaching it really sets you up for failure, really in the short term and the long term, you know, in the short term it sets you up for failure because you're just frazzled, you're just freaking out, you're just tense, stressed. That's a hard way to change your behaviors. Long term, when you feel that way, it's setting up for failure long term because you have no long term plan. You only have this short term idea that I'm just going to get to my goal weight, then I'll figure it out. And of course, no one figures it out. So the alternative is to start off by realizing that your goal is not just to lose weight, it's to live at your goal weight. And you can relax and calm down. Because if you would like to live at your goal weight for the rest of your life, then there's no rush. This is a forever marathon, a never ending journey. It's like brushing your teeth, right? You don't have to go crazy brushing your teeth tonight because you got to do it again tomorrow and the day after and the day after. So it's not so much about intensity, it's about consistency. Same thing with your weight, it's about consistency. And the more you can leave the intensity at the door, the better you're going to do. Because every time you've approached your weight, you approached it with this hyper focus and hyper intensity that is almost impossible to sustain. And this has been the foundation of why you haven't succeeded. Most likely because you jump into it a hundred percent, you burn yourself out, then you can't keep it going anymore. And so the alternative here is that we start to really value consistency because we're valuing the long term focus, which is that we want to get to our goal weight and then live the rest of our lives there. And if you start to look at it this way, this is the initial thing I would love for you to do because now you can relax. And so how would you approach your weight if you were relaxed and calm? How would you approach changing your weight? Well, hopefully you would start to make strategic small changes that you were going to be able to sustain and then you would build on top of those changes. That's one of the biggest things. So that instead of trying to change everything all at once and consciously having to force yourself to do all this, we start to program into our subconscious mind by doing little relatively simple things to do that start to become automatic. Back to brushing your teeth. Brushing your teeth is one of the most healthy behaviors you've installed into your body and mind and it served you your whole life. And so if you start to think on that level, small, sustainable changes that you can build on top of this becomes the path forward. So instead of completely changing your eating, maybe you start working on improving breakfast, eating an apple in the afternoon and cutting down your snacking at night by 20, 30%. And you do that for a couple weeks, so it starts to feel comfortable. And then once you get that down, then you move on to another thing. In the meantime, maybe you start to focus on getting a little more high quality sleep, you start hydrating a little bit more. You start adding things foundationally that are going to support the rest of what you're doing. And you always look for changes that are sustainable, small, comfortable and sustainable. And as you approach it this way, everything changes in terms of how you think about weight, because there's a great quote that goes, most people overestimate how much weight they can lose in a month and underestimate how much weight they can lose in a year. And if you can start to orient yourself to a longer term approach, what happens after a month, after six months, after a year, is mind blowing. It is absolutely mind blowing because you have never done this. Every time you've tried to change your weight. It's been this a hundred mile an hour foot to the pedal approach where you go a hundred miles an hour for a little while and then stop. So what happens if you go 25 miles an hour for a long time? You probably never even experienced what that's like. Well, I can tell you what it's like. It's amazing. And what the best part about all of it, in my opinion, is that not only you get better results ultimately because you're doing the right things for a lot longer. But I think what's even more important to really recognize is that you're doing the right things naturally, comfortably, on near autopilot. Kind of like you brush your teeth where you pretty much do that automatically. You're still aware of it somewhat, but most of it's just happening on autopilot. And when you can change your weight in a way that's kind of Automatically running. That is the part I think most people have never really internalized as a. As an even option. Okay. And this is how you go from being overweight to living as a thin, healthy person is by looking at the long term and consistently focusing on the small, comfortable changes that you can sustain. And so if you want some support in making this change happen, click the link in my bio and go get the free hypnosis session that I give you. If you're on Tick Tock, you can click my picture up on the top left there and you'll see the link and you can go get it. Takes about 5 seconds to sign up for it. If you're over in Facebook land or YouTube, I will let me put this link in here for you. You can go to this link and get it. And if you're. Oh, that ain't it. That's the wrong thing. Can I delete that? There we go. Can I even delete it? I don't know. Anyways, there's a link in there. Let's leave it. It's in the comments. Yeah. But if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I am here to answer any weight loss questions you may have. Anything's welcome. I missed anything along the way there. I am usually here Monday through Friday around noon Eastern. Yeah. So I hope you all had a nice weekend. This comments thrown me off. I didn't even know. I didn't even know. You can't let me try something here? Sorry, I'm so distracted. But there we go. There you go. Facebook and YouTube land. There you go. There's the link. What's up, Marta? Marta says I agree. Slow and steady. Don't aggressively cut calories, just small changes. Stop with obsessing about number on a scale. That's my big lesson. Yeah, agreed, Marta. I couldn't agree more. I think that again, the diet industry has really conditioned us to fail with weight loss. I think that's intentional. The diet industry is not our friend. They are a branch of the food processing industry and they're filling our head with bad ideas. And I think it's important for us to recognize that and blaze our own path and trail forward. And there's a lot of ways to do that. But I think the it starts by again, really resetting the timeframe. I think that's one of the number one ways that diets really sabotage us is that they cause us to think about weight loss and time frames of days, weeks, and maybe months, you know, when in reality we need time frames of months, years, Decades and forever. And I think that that initial distinction is probably one of the most important ones you could make when it comes to your weight. Because I think when you think in a very short term time frame, it makes you rush. I mean, you're stressed, you're anxious, you're thinking differently. The strategies you consider are different. Right, Because I need to get quick results. I need to do this fast. And so you choose like, you know, unsustainable, extreme things that you can't keep up. And for most of you, that's just the default weight loss setting at this point. Like that's how you think about it, is that you've got to do, you know, something extreme. You know, that's why you always wait till Monday. You get yourself all hyped up because, you know, it takes a lot of energy and a lot of hype to get yourself to do any of these diet plans. Literally any of them. Marta says I needed to change my diet mentality. Crazy fasting and low calories. I'm finally eating again. Yeah, that's great. Yeah, the crazy fasting. I mean, the fasting stuff, I know that's real popular right now. You know, people just trying to stuff as much protein as possible into their body. You know, it's again, it's these knee jerk overreactions. I would say. I would say it's the easiest thing. But the problem is that we've been surrounded by diet mentality for so long that these knee jerk overreactions just seem normal. They've been normalized, you know. But yeah, the crazy fasting. And I'll tell you what's crazy fasting, someone may say, I'll tell you what's crazy fasting, in my opinion. If you for the last 20 years have, you know, eaten until you've gone to bed, basically. So you're basically not eating for eight hours a day, let's just say, right while you're asleep and you wake up and you're basically eating throughout the day. If you go from not eating eight hours a day to eating, not eating 16 hours a day, that's crazy fasting in my book. I'm not saying you can't work your way up to that, but it's like, again, to just jump into that. It is extremely jarring. And it's just on and on. The low calories, again, it's just short sighted. I don't think it's hard to figure that out once it's pointed out to you, I hope. But yeah, it's like that. All right, Marta Said I ordered your book. Can't wait. That's awesome, Marty. You're gonna love it. Yeah. Especially if you're on this path of really starting to, you know, get your mindset right. I think that you are going to love this book. The book Art is referring to is this one, remembered to flip my camera around here. The dao of living at your goal weight, written by me. I wrote that book. So this book's awesome. 40 chapters. Each chapter is a page, two pages. Each chapter is a hypnotic story. A hypnotic story designed to change your mindset and get you thinking differently about all this, you know, so that you stop crazy fasting and doing extreme to try and lose weight and instead have a real solid plan, you know, to move forward. And again, most dieters have never, literally never had a real solid plan, because a real solid plan in my book, right. So program yourself. Then we follow the goal weight pyramid. And so the goal weight pyramid is, I think, a more comprehensive, robust approach to dealing with your weight. And of course, we had a mindset section, a lifestyle section, eating section, where most diets really just tell you what to eat. You know, that that's pretty much the whole of it. So usually it's going to take you more than that to change your weight, so it ain't you. That's what I guess I'm trying to say, too. You know, I'm just here to placate you. You know, I, I, I hold people accountable all day long. I, I coach people to live at their goal weight. So it's not about, oh, no, you're fine, you're fine, you're fine, everything's fine, everything's not fine. But the idea that, that you're just going to start some crazy diet and stick to it is. And then you blame yourself for not being able to do it. I think that's where the problem is, because I would say it's more the strategy than your ability to follow a plan that's at fault. So, yeah, any questions, feel free to ask them whatever you may be struggling with. I know a lot of you are starting, you know, it's a new month where, you know, the sun's starting to shine. You know what I mean? Like, the spring's right around the corner. You can feel it. It's a new month, it's a Monday. A lot of you, I know, are going to start your plan today. And so if you have questions about how to do better with your intermittent fasting with, I, I will help people with any diet because at the end of the day. It doesn't matter what diet or approach you're doing. It's your mindset sits underneath it. You know, that's why, again, we have this. This concept of a goal weight pyramid is. It's almost time for me to get a new coffee cup. I'm very like, I got this thing right. I dropped it. I've dropped it a couple times. I actually glued it back and that part fell and I dropped another thing on it. But I love this thing. It's got a lot of sentimental value to me, but I swear it's only a matter of time. Like, cut my thumb up with this. But, yeah. So you see the goal weight pyramid, again, the eating sits on top of the mindset. How could that not be true? How can that not be true? What's up, Karen? How's it going? How could your mindset not impact your weight? I don't know. I. I get. I don't know. Like, I can see how you may not think about it naturally, but once it's pointed out to you, what are you gonna argue that you're gonna sit there and say, nah, my mindset. I mean, it doesn't matter about my mindset. I just got to do it. Just got to do it, Jim. And, you know, I'm sorry for Instagram. I do not. What's going on with Instagram? Instagram is not. Worked with my streaming software in over a week, and I've tried everything I can to fix it, and it's not working. It's kind of weird. So there's that. What's up, Jane? Jane says hi. Jim. The weather here is glorious. I played pickleball in the sunshine yesterday. That felt good. That's awesome. Yeah, the weather's getting here. Oh, my God. It's gonna be like 60 degrees all week. I can't wait. I can't wait. I'm ready. I am ready for spring. I. I don't know, I'm feeling kind of shitty too. I will definitely. You know, I didn't really put much weight on last year. I put ten pounds on over the winter this year, I. The weight remain pretty similar, but I just. I don't feel great. Like, I don't feel great. You know, definitely the last couple months got a hold of me, and I haven't not as moved as much. And I just. I don't know. I'm really looking forward to the nicer weather. Walking, playing basketball, just being outside more. I'm really, really looking forward to it, so. Can't wait for that. And I know a lot of you are in the same boat, so that's awesome. Jim, glad you get to play some pickleball. Play pickleball, huh? I gotta get, I gotta get myself in some pickleball. They, they, I, that's. I would say pickleball is like the biggest thing I've seen since like CrossFit. Around me, they recently built a complex, a literal building complex for pickleball, like in the middle of nowhere. It was shocking to me. And so, yeah, it's, it's really. I don't know, it's funny like that. But I'm glad you did that. That's awesome. And again, that supports you. Right? Jane, there's one more thing to do. Nina says, what do you add to your salads? Well, I would say most of the time my salads, the vegetables and fruits. What the hell's a fruit and a vegetable these days? I don't know. You know, it's hard, hard keeping track of that. But they, I've kind of a base I would say I use in pretty much all my salads. And then there's things that kind of rotate, you know, and especially during or I'm part of a, a CSA or a farm share. I don't know what they got to call different things. So that one there, I'm always getting like different stuff coming in. And so that, that's kind of rotating it there. But I would say in general, the base of my salad is typically a, a small leaf green mix. Small leaf greens are healthier, so I will use those as the base. Then I almost always have carrots, celery, radishes, red onion peppers. Usually I have like, you know, green, yellow, red peppers in there. So I would say that that's like tomatoes, multicolored tomatoes. Typically. I'll put some walnuts in there, some homemade sourdough croutons, which real good. I will put a little bit of really high quality blue cheese, a little bit of that sprinkled on there. Sometimes I'll put garbanzo beans or egg whites in there. And yeah, that, that's pretty much. I would say the majority of my salads would most likely be in there. And I did make that video. It's pretty much the same stuff. I should make a new style of video. I thought I did actually. Did I make a new style video recently? I got a lot of new videos coming out. That is one thing that's going to be popping off. I got gonna be making so many videos come out in my ears. So that that will Be happening soon here. But, yeah, I will make. I'm gonna make more cooking videos in general, which I think will be pretty cool. But, yeah, that. That's typically what I put in there. Yeah. Marta says I'm finally letting go of magic weight number. I don't know what my body needs and what number I'm comfortable at. Oh, Marta. Marta, you in the program or something? You're saying a lot of. A lot of good stuff, I would say. Yeah. I know a lot of people struggle with that concept and idea, but I think most people don't really have any idea what their goal weight is. Not the right one. Because most of us, we've never learned how to choose our goal weight. We've been given a goal weight by the BMI chart, by a doctor, by a friend, by a magazine, by a podcast. And I think ultimately, you have to decide what the right goal weight is for you, because, you know, you could pick whatever number you want. You can look at the BMI chart and say, that's my number. Okay, great. But to me, a goal weight really is the weight that gives you the best quality of life. So if it's the weight that gives you the best quality of life, okay, fine, you. You aim for that number. But that's only one half of the equation. Because one half of the equation is the number that you want to live at. Right. But the other half of the equation is how you have to live and how you have to eat in order to achieve that number. And I think dieters always ignore that part. I don't know why dieters will say, I don't give a. What I got to do. I'm going to do it. Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it. And it's like, more untrue words have never been spoken. You know, it's like, that's not true. You're probably not going to do it. That's what your history tells you. And I'm not judging you, but it's like, we gotta acknowledge that fact. You can't go through your whole life every time, every magic Monday start. I don't give a. I'm just gonna. I'm. No more carbs for me. No more carbs for me. What happened the last 15 times you tried no carbs? Where'd you end up? I know right now you can do it. You'll do whatever. But the last 15 times, when you try to stop carbs, where did it end up? And where it usually ends up for people is they're eating Carbs again, because not eating any carbs is, for most people, pretty miserable. And so, yeah, my weight's going down, but I'm fucking miserable, so I'm not going to continue it. And that's why I think a lot of dieters ultimately find themselves and just plug in whatever, you know, it's not just no carbs, it's. It's whatever. I'll count my points, track my calories. Not eating for 16 hours, whatever, just put it in there. And it's always the same end, though. So, yeah, you know, the idea of, like, what your goal weight is, honestly, you're never really going to know until you're at your goal weight. And then living there for a little while, you can have an idea, but you're not really going to know what the ideal goal weight is until you get there and you're living there and see how it feels to live there. Because if your whole life has to be about working out and counting calories in order to live at your goal weight, is that really the weight that's giving you the best quality of life? Is that the quality of life you want? All you care about is tracking calories and micromanaging every single thing you eat. Is that, Is that. How. Is that the highest quality of life you can imagine for yourself? It's not. In my world, I would say for me, that'd be a shitty quality of life. I wouldn't like that. So. Good job, Marta. Proud of you. You're on a good path here. Fran says, do you personally coach people over zoom? I do personally coach people over zoom, but I only do it in groups at this point. You know, I, I guess like, I, I like. Maybe I do one or two more private coachings, but private coaching is 25 grand. So it's like, for most people, that's not really the right fit for them. But I do actually do have a coaching group, but it's only, you know, even that's pretty exclusive. I would say it's only for people in the program. So what I would say is absolutely the, the least expensive way to get coaching from me in some capacity is if you join the program, is we have live Q and A's every Tuesday and that. That's just included. So. So that's by far the best deal. So that's not over zoom. It's over kind of a chat. I'm on video. But you can ask questions and I can answer them. But, you know, if you get into that and you like it and you're interested in Group coaching. You can, you can reach out and I can shoot information in that if it's the right. Right fit for you. Funny girl. Yeah, yeah. How's it going? I haven't seen you a little while. Hope you're doing well. Nina says, I've been eating super clean, but I have not been losing for the last couple weeks. I'm super proud of the food I'm choosing, but I need my body to keep. I do listen to your audios day and night. Great job, Nina. So, I mean, you know, okay, so you need your body responding. This is very common. People, they're doing really well with the eating and the lifestyle pieces of it, or at least the eating pieces of it. And the needle's not moving. Okay. That's completely normal. You're going to go through that. Almost guaranteed along your journey, you're going to hit some phases where your body is just not letting go of the weight. In those situations, I think is one of the most important moments and journeys or phases you're going to get into this thing. So, number one, first thing I say is you focus on relaxation, because, you know, cortisol is a real thing. Can it contribute to holding onto the weight? Absolutely. So what I would say to you, Nina, is great job with the eating changes you've been making. Okay? So continue down that path of making the eating changes, feeling proud of yourself, feeling good with that. But now hopefully those eating changes start to feel more. More comfortable, more natural. So you free up a little bit of energy, put that energy into relaxing. I think if you put the energy into relaxing more now as well as the eating that you've been doing well, and I think give it a couple more weeks and I think you'll probably see the scale start going down. And if the scale doesn't start going down after a few more weeks of eating really clean of relaxing, then you kind of come back here and we'll talk about it. But what we'll do is we'll look for the next area. You can kind of dial some calories down a little bit. Okay. But give it a couple more weeks and really focus in on the relaxation in addition to the eating and see what happens from that. And great job. Nice job taking action. Nina, Wendy says hello. Is your book on audible? No, it's not yet, and we're getting closer. This week or next week, I will be recording the audio version of this. So that's the plan. This week. Next week it should be done and ready to go. And the audible part, I got to figure that part out. But the audio book, everyone in the program, you'll get that. And then I have to figure out how I'm going to get people the audiobook if you already bought the book. But I will talk about it here. So if you bought the book, I'll let you know and we'll take it from there. Jane says ideas for snacks. Yeah, I mean, you know, I don't really like giving ideas for snacks because I'm me and you're you. Our taste buds are probably a little different. Our preferences are probably a little different. So I. I never really liked this. This idea. Like, I'm gonna give you the snacks I like, and you're gonna like them. The chances of that are slim, probably, you know, So I would rather you think about snacks that you like. And so I'm going to take you down that path if I was. Now, I will tell you, first of all, I'm not a huge fan of snacks personally. Like. Like, in my goal, My ideal is I'm not. I'm not snacking. I just want to say that now, that's me. Some people. Well, but, you know, so even if me personally, on my clean days, I'm eating three meals a day. My clean days. I mean, three meals a day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. That's it. No snacks, nothing in between, nothing after, nothing. Okay. That's ideal. Do I always live that way? No. You know, sometimes snacks will sneak in between breakfast and lunch is a common one. That's kind of the big one for me at this point. But I used to snack with all day long. So. So the. So the first question is, when's the snack? Because I find people have different snack preferences, different times of day, different days of the week. So I would get specific of what's. When you're looking for a snack, you know, and that would be my first thing, because if you're looking for a, you know, 10 in the morning snack versus a 10 at night snack, you're probably gonna have different preferences. So. But that's my point to you. That's why I don't want to just sit here and say, list off some snacks I like. I'm gonna give you. I'd rather give you the framework so you can figure out the right snacks for you. So that's the first question is when? What snacks? Time of the day. Okay. Then I see. I like to nibble on things. It was like candy, like Smarties. Now I am trying grapes or popcorn. Yeah, okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay. All right. So I like to nibble on Things. And then. But see, this is very important to me and I hope you all hear this. If you just come to me and say, oh, what are some good snacks? That's so big and vague that. Again, I hesitate to answer that. I want you all to get more specific. Dieting has taught you to be very general, very vague in how you're approaching things. So I would rather you get specific about what the snacks are. And so Jane follows it up by saying, you know, I like to nibble on things. So as soon as I heard, I like to nibble on things. Oh, that. If you're grazing constantly, I don't think that's good. I don't, I don't think there's. I don't think that's a good pattern to get into. Even if it's healthy snacks. I'm not a big fan. Now, again that it's. There's no the golden rule of program yourself then. There's no right or wrong. There's only what works for you. So if you love nibbling on stuff all day long, then that's the path and let's just optimize it. But ideally I would like to say I don't want to be nibbling all day. Okay, that's my thing. But then Jane follows it up and says, I like a snack at 3 o' clock or so. So now I'm saying, okay, well, are you nibbling all day or is it really primarily around 3 o' clock in the afternoon? Those are two totally different things. But now we got 3 o' clock snack. And so this is how I look at it, Jane, even if you had like, well, sometimes I'll snack in the morning, sometimes I'll snack at 3, and sometimes I snack at night. I would look for specific snack options for each one of those. I would look at each one of those as a unique thing. So I'd look for a morning snack, an afternoon snack, and a night snack. Because they're all different. They're all programmed different into you folks. Very rarely do you snack on the same things in the morning as you do at night. I'm not saying it's impossible. No one does it. But just pattern wise, most people don't. So, okay, so three o' clock snack, grapes or popcorn. So yeah, so that's the nibbling, Right? Because you just keep eating and nibbling on them. Yeah. Okay, so you're not nibbling all day or sometimes at night watching TV. So you like to nibble during 3 o'. Clock. Again, I don't like to nibble. I like to keep, I like to compress and constrain my eating. So if I'm going to eat, I'm going to eat. I don't like letting it linger. That's just me personally, you know. And again, you have to weigh, weigh yourself there. What works for you? I'm trying grapes or popcorn. I think those are good. I mean, watch out for grapes. You know, they have a real high sugar content for me. I love grapes. But I noticed when I start eating them, it starts cranking up my, my appetite and my food mind food noise. So grapes I use sparingly. Popcorn is a good option in the sense that they put in fiber in your body. If you're air popping, it's very low calories. So I think that's a decent one. Again, you're kind of doing the yum yum, yum yum yums for a long time. I'm not a huge fan of that. You know what I mean? Consistently. But it's okay, you know, I'm gonna, I'm getting a perfection land here when I say that. So I think the popcorn's a good option. I would probably start at what I would want to do though, if I were you, Jane and I had like, I'm kind of a little hungry at three in the afternoon. To me, I think that's the perfect opportunity to have a piece of fruit, not grapes. I would probably look to have a banana, an apple, a pear, something like that at 3:00'. Clock. And then if I was still hungry, then I'd have some popcorn after that. That, that's probably how I would approach that. And then I would see how I felt doing that, how it was. Oh, there's funny girl. Okay. Oh, I just asked how you. I hope you're doing. Well, not too well. I was in a bad accident. Okay. I was hit by a drunk driver on January 1st. Oh, I'm sorry. That's terrible. Lots of surgeries, pain and frustration back home now. But I get. I still can't walk. Wow. Doing PT to get back on my feet. Damn. All right, well, I'm sorry to hear that. Funny girl. Yeah. I'm asking you, I hope you're doing all right, you know. Oh, that's tough. Holy cow. One thing I'll tell you, Yaya, is that in the program, if you go into the hypnosis session, regular sessions, scroll to the bottom. There is actually I made a session for another client, how to deal with chronic pain. And that may be a good session to be listening to. While you're dealing with some of this. So, so yeah, you got some, some struggles there. So again, hopefully, you know, just keep working the PT and you get yourself back. That, that's, that's tough. That's tough. And hopefully the weather changing kind of boost you kind of lift them back up again. You know, see it for what it is. I mean, that's really hard. Obviously it sounds like you've been in a real difficult spot, so I wish you the best with that. Oh, Jody says, I wonder if you can put it in the bonus hypnosis area. I'm looking forward to going to sleep listening to the audiobook. Yeah, I'll have it in the members area for sure. It'll be in there and it'll. It, will it be. Maybe I'll put in the hypnosis area. I'll put it somewhere in the, I might put in the bonus area where I already have the book. I might put the audios right there. But yeah, we'll do that. Yeah. Jane says I'm switching to an apple lately. Yeah, I think that's great, Jane. I would use that opportunity and I think a lot of people freak out about their snacks, but I think if you look at snacking as an opportunity to install some really healthy food into your regular routine, I think you feel very different about it, you know, so instead of trying to stop snacking, I would rather use that as a lever to get myself to eat something healthy. And then once I kind of got that there, then I would work on it from that, you know. Wendy says, I know everybody's tastes are different, but I do wish there was a specific menu of balanced meal suggestions to get me started. Well, Wendy, if you're in the program, there's a meal planner. So I, I don't, I, I'm. If you're in the program, in the bonus section there's a literal meal planner where there's, there's literal suggestions for breakfast snack, lunch snack, dinner snack. So yeah, go check that out. And it's one you can build. So it's, it's really cool. I think my wife had made that and she put it up in the Google sheet so you can actually as drop down menus and all the rest of it. So it's pretty cool. So go check that out. It's got the ingredients, it's got all the, the macro breakdowns and everything. So if you're in the program, Wendy, go check that out. Yeah. Funny girl says I'll check that out. Yeah, yeah, that session you might like that again, for when you're dealing with chronic pain. It's hard. It's hard. So that's another thing, too. Yeah, yeah. Is give yourself some grace. It's really hard. It's hard when you get a big accident and you're dealing with such adversity, you know, and so hopefully, you know, in those situations, too, you know, weight needing isn't the number one priority. You know, getting yourself back to normal is. But, you know, program yourself, then it'll serve you in the sense that even when you're dealing with all that, being able to relax is really one of the most important things because it's going to help you heal quicker as well. So, yeah. Any questions, feel free to ask them. What's up, Sherry? Yep. Sherry's excited to get the audiobook. Yeah, the audiobook's gonna be awesome. I can't wait. So, yeah, that's gonna be happening soon. Within a couple weeks here, we'll have that ready to go. Oh, and he said, I'm not. I just found you. Okay. Yeah, I got you, Andy. Yeah, well, yeah, you know, I got you. I get that. You know, I know people want a balanced meal. I know you know that. It's just. That's a problem, though. I. I swear, like, Like, I know, like, oh, here's a meal plan. Go do it. It's like, people think that's going to help them, but I just. I've not seen that work. There's always the off chance that, like, you see something on a meal plan that just really resonates with you. But more often than not, these meal planners really are just false comfort. You know, it's like you got to put the work in to figure out what do I like to eat? And honestly, what I would say, Wendy, is I would start with what you already eat to improve it. I think that's a much better strategy than trying to completely change your eating. I think when you, like, if I just give you a meal plan and say, okay, or follow this, the cognitive load increase of trying to follow that is so intense that the, The. The chances you sticking with are almost nil. It's just. It's too much of an energy output. So I would rather look at, like, what you typically eat and start to improve and optimize that. I. I feel like that has a much better chance of succeeding and learning. Kind of. Kind of learning the principles of making better food choices and then working on your. Your. What you typically eat and optimizing it, I think, is an infinitely better approach, you know, Than just, oh, just give me the plan. Just tell me what to do. Just kind of tell me what to do. And I just need something to start. I know it sounds like that's what you need, but I just. I rarely have seen that help anyone. So, Jane, didn't know there was a meal planner. Yeah, I know. You know, I always say, oh, program yourself then. For my clients here, this was actually. This has been on the back burner for a little bit, but I think it was Liz who inspired me on the Q and A call a week or two ago that, that wanted some more clarity with the program. So I actually have a whole program roadmap that I'll be releasing this week. It'll be ready to go in a day or two. It's. It's ready to go. And that'll go out to everyone in the program. And I think that's going to be really cool. And, you know, I was just thinking on the back of that, I'm going to put out the bonuses in detail so that you can see everything. And, and it's going to be good for everyone. It'll kind of give you an overview of the program, how it works, all the components of it, how they work together, and then it breaks down everything in there and how to use it. So that is coming as well. So. But yeah, Jane, right now you can see it. It's in the bonus section. Nina says, I do snack on popcorn before bed, and maybe that's why my weight is not moving. Even light popcorn may have too much salt. Oh, yeah, Nina, I would absolutely. I would tweak that for sure. I think I'm not a huge fan of eating before bed. And now I think, I think calories are calories. I do believe that ultimately your weight is a reflection of your calorie consumption and that when you're eating, you know, if you're eating popcorn, you know, if your calories are, you know, reduced and you're eating popcorn right before bed, you know, technically that shouldn't matter, but I just don't buy into. I just don't believe that. And certainly if I was eating well and my weight wasn't moving and I was eating popcorn before bed, I would absolutely. That would be laser. That'd be a thing I would change before anything else. So great awareness, Nina. I would definitely play around with that. Yeah, the salt. And again, I don't know what kind of popcorn it is. I'm talking like air pop popcorn. Because I think popcorn is a slippery slope. If it's airpopcorn Knock yourself out, folks. But if it is any sort of microwaved or prepared popcorn, yeah, we're talking about salt, oil, a lot of calories and stuff snuck in there. So, yeah, Nina, I would absolutely change that, even to the point of you can even have the popcorn. But I would. I would move it to like two, three hours before bed, I think. I don't. I. Now, this comes from personal experience, so this is a bit anecdotal to some degree, although there is some, I believe, studies that kind of support this as well. But me personally, I used to eat right up until bed, and taking a break and giving myself a not eating window before bed was one of the greatest things I ever did. And I think when you eat before you go to bed, what happens is, I think for most people, it's going to negatively impact your sleep. And that's a problem because your sleep is fundamental to your weight control for a million different reasons, too. And they are just beginning to scratch the surface of how important sleep is to your weight. But it literally, your sleep quality and length literally affects your blood sugar. You know what I mean? It affects, like, such small, detailed things that are impacting your weight. So I would not want to eat popcorn before bed because your body, you know, when you sleep, you want your body to completely rest. And digestion is one of the biggest uses of energy in your body. So when you're eating even popcorn and then going to bed, your body's got to digest it and that. So you know you're going to have this restful time. But now you've got this digestion system work and overdrive, even to process and digest the popcorn. So there's that. And on top of that, you know, part of what makes you fall asleep is that your core temperature drops a couple degrees and that triggers sleep. And so when you go looking to drop your core temperature a couple degrees and then you start digesting, that's increasing the temperature. So there's a little bit of battle there. So, yes, Nina, that's absolutely what I would. That's absolutely where I would start. Yeah, Nina says, great, I'll stop. I don't need it. I could have had a tumeric latte with almond milk. And yes, I never sleep. Yes. Okay, so there you go, Nina. So. So, you know, I mean, like in this, I want you all to see this because Nina's in the program. But this is, boy, talk about something that I think's missing from weight loss for most dieters is the ability to problem solve. I find that to be one of the most counterintuitive, paradoxical things about my experience with weight, because you have to understand, I've been doing this personally for over 30 years. Professionally, for over 20 years, I've been helping people live at their goal weight. And the majority of my clients have been smart, successful, overthinking, perfectionistic women. And it's so funny because on one hand, in one area of their life, whether it be professional or personal, whether they're, you know, professionals or, you know, they're take care of the kids and they're, they're just personally, they're, they're successful, period. Right? They're really good at what they do. Whether it's really good, you know, personal, professional, they're really good at it and they're really good at. Because they're problem solvers, you know, there's a problem, figure out the problem, you know, And I find it so funny because then all of a sudden when it comes to their weight, they have none of those abilities or that none of those abilities show up. Okay. And I find this to be one of the biggest paradoxes of dieting in the culture is that these very smart problem or, you know, problem solving, solution oriented people, in this context, when it comes to their weight, they have none of those skills that they're using. And so I love when Nina comes in and said, oh, you know, I've been eating really clean, but, but now my weight has been moving in. Program yourself. Didn't we gain the ability to start talking about this? Well, let's, let's look at it from here. Let's look at it from this thing. What about this? What about this? And we'll almost always uncover something that's leading to the issue. But dieters, you don't have that ability to go granular. And so it becomes this all or nothing thing, you know, and so if I'm not losing weight, I just could use something more extreme. When in reality, it's like when we look at things in layers, we can figure out usually what's going on. So yeah, Nina, absolutely. What I was saying too before about the relaxation, I think goes down double for you because if you never sleep, then I'm going to assume your stress levels are higher than they need to be. I've never met someone who doesn't sleep whose stress levels are great. Now, just because you don't notice it just, you know, because we build up a tolerance to things doesn't mean there's not an issue. So, yes, Nina, I would absolutely, I would take A look, I'd stop eating the popcorn, and then I would start to, I mentioned before, focus on your relaxation. But I would focus on my relaxation by way of sleeping. I would really make sleeping a focus for a couple weeks and see what happens. Yeah. What's up, Corinne? Corinne says I'm doing the not eating anything white idea. It's working quite well. On top of GLP1 now added. Yeah, not eating anything white. I think that's, I, I, I get it. And I like it in one way. I don't like it because I think you need to have a more granular understanding of nutrition than just that. You know, I, I remember my mom got diagnosed with diabetes type 2, and that was the whole of the, the path they gave her. Like, literally I said, what would they tell you? What they tell you? I was really curious to know. They said, don't eat anything. Wait, all right. You know, so, yeah, I mean, you know, I think, I think it's a, it's a, a big, big old vague thing, but I think it's got some, you know, it's probably the best big old vague thing. Don't, don't eat white stuff. Yeah. I would say, as one of the more effective general rules. That's a good one. I think white things being flour, sugar, you know, I think the less flour and sugar you consume, you know, you're almost always going to benefit from that with your weight, the average American, for sure, so. But potatoes are good. You know, that's where, that's where problems start, though. You know, apples are white on the inside. Those are good for you. I, I know it's probably not what you're thinking, but I just think that that idea of don't eat anything white, if we don't really understand what we're doing, it can lead to confusion and things like that. But great job. Yeah, I'm glad that that's working for you. Like I said, out of all the general guidelines, I'd say that's one of the better ones. Sure. Want to know about the digestion, I mean. Yeah, digestion, those are the big ones. I think of, I think of, you know. Yeah. Your body, I mean, your digestion uses so much energy that your, our bodies have evolved to split up digestion with a second brain. Just to give you an example how much energy digestion uses you all literally. We got a belly brain. We, the second highest conglomeration of neurons in our body is in our gut, and that's so that we can digest while we have to deal with things in life, chased by a lion, but we're still able to digest. So. Yeah. So, again, if you're eating before bed, I think that you're gonna find your quality of sleep improves when you go to bed with an empty stomach. I know people say, oh, mom, I'm really hungry. I can't sleep. I'm not talking about going to bed starving. I'm talking about going to bed with an empty stomach. But anyways, I. Everyone's different. Everyone's unique, too, so you got to figure out what works for you. But I find for a lot of people, that's a big help, is to get that under control. Yeah. Says, can you tell me where the chronic pain info is again? I searched in the app, but nothing came up. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, you got to go to the actual members area. So if you go to PYT system and then click that document and all the links that go there, go to the hypnosis sessions. Regular hypnosis sessions are full sessions. And then scroll down. I think it's at the bottom. Wendy says, I have all the information, but why don't I do what I know I should? Oh, Wendy. All right. That's the question of the day, right? Why don't I do what I should? I. I love that you asked that. So I think that. Yeah, I think that's such a great question. To me, that's the heart of everything, right? That's the. That's the same. What unites all of us is why do I know what to do and I'm not doing it? I. I think that's 90 of 90. It's a hundred percent right. If everyone wanted to lose weight. And the reason why is because, well, hey, you don't understand your mind. And this is where I come in. Okay. As a hypnotist, I've got a real simple explanation for the mind. You got a conscious mind and a subconscious mind. And the conscious part of your mind is literally. It's your prefrontal cortex. It's the newest part of your brain. Evolutionarily, your prefrontal cortex is where your logic and your rational brain is your executive functioning. This is where your willpower is, okay? This is the part of you that knows what you should do, knows why you should do it, and tries to get you to do it right. This is the part that the diet industry has had you fixated on. Use this part to force yourself to do the right stuff. But the rest of our brain, the majority of it, is your subconscious mind, and your subconscious mind operates completely different. It doesn't operate through the same type of logic. It operates through associations. So your subconscious mind is very Pavlovian. It just links things together, whether they're true or not, it links them together and makes them true. So this is why there's a real battle between these two, because you can read and say, oh, you know what? White foods are bad for me. I shouldn't eat white foods. That makes sense. Oh, okay. I just listened to a podcast. I just read a report. Okay, I get it now. I'm going to stop eating white foods. Well, yeah, but all your associations say, white food's delicious. So now you've got this knowledge piece against this emotional piece. And so the subconscious part of your mind runs all your habitual thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and it's estimated to make over 200 food decisions a day. So a lot of times what you're going to find as a dieter is that next thing you know, you say, oh, that's it, no more white food. And then a couple hours later, you're eating white food. So, wait, what the. I said I wasn't going to eat white food. How'd this happen? Well, because your subconscious mind does not respond to logical information the same way. If you did, you would be like a robot. If we were robots, it'd be so easy. If you could just type in what you're going to eat all day and then you actually did it, none of us would be here talking about weight. We would all be out of the way we wanted to be at. Problem is, you want to eat a certain way, and then you feel like some part of you is fighting that or compelling you to do the wrong thing. It is. It's your subconscious mind. And your subconscious mind, which has been programmed to eat a certain way over your whole life. Just because you read something new now, that information doesn't funnel down to your subconscious mind and change it. So your conscious mind says, oh, white food bad. Your subconscious mind said, white food delicious. White food's relaxing. White food reward, and for good job. You know what I mean? And so, you know, that's a big part of it. So, in my opinion, you know, what dieters are always doing is using their conscious mind to fight against their subconscious mind. And I think the better strategy is use your conscious mind to reprogram your subconscious mind. Because at the end of the day, we're all subconscious creatures, we're all on autopilot. To go through your life consciously making all decisions is near impossible. Your mind's not built for that. Your mind Is literally built to run on autopilot. You know, it's like, think about all the things you've learned and now you can just do automatically think about it, right? Reading, writing, using computer mouse, taking a shower, brushing your teeth, driving a car. All of these things you learned and you could not do them for 20 years come back and you know how to do them instantly. That's not because you're consciously figuring out, thinking about it. It's because it's gone in your subconscious mind. Now it runs on autopilot. And this is the same thing you're going against when you want to change your eating. Oh, yeah, you want to change your lunch. Eat the same lunch for 10 years, but now you just read a report on white food bad. And now you want to stop eating the white food, but some part of you feels like it wants to eat it. Yeah, that's right. You know, so again, I mean, in program yourself, then there's the goal weight pyramid, which we learn. This shows us what to do. This again, this is the. From the. The goal weight blueprint, which is part of the program. Right. But the other part of the program is the program yourself then technique, which shows you how to get yourself to do it, how to program your mind. So, yeah, Wendy, that. That's pretty much the. The dilemma everyone struggles with. Why don't I do the things I want to do or stop doing the things that are bad for me? And. And I never really see a lot of good answers out there other than willpower, and willpower is not a good answer. So I would say that in my world, the best thing to do is learn how to program your mind. Lois says, found you late. I almost never get notifications, but I go back and watch the video. Yeah, I'm sorry about that, Lois. I gotta look into that. I gotta look into the notification thing. To be honest, the stream's been a little weird. I don't know what's going on. I don't know. Like, they supposedly, last week, they like updated things. I gotta make it all better. And I feel like in some ways it's gotten buggier. So I don't know. Corinne says brown rice and brown breaded brown potatoes all better than the white versions. Yeah, agreed, agreed. I mean, white, that's just true. You know, even in vegetables and things, colors, darker colors are healthier than lighter colors, you know, so I would say that is true when it comes to flowers, you know, like brown rice or brown bread, you know, I mean, it depends. I mean, I don't Know, I don't even know anymore with the rice thing. I'm confused about the brown rice, white rice thing, to be honest. But I do know bread. Bread. I do know I'm on my sourdough kick. So I do know about bread all over the place. And so, yeah, I mean, you know, usually white flour has been way more processed unnecessarily, you know, so. And certainly sugar. The more processed it is, the more processed is, the less healthy it is for you, typically, because every time you process it, you're taking it a step away from nature. And so by the time you consume it, it's not even a natural substance. It's become this concentrated form. So that's a true statement. But again, I think understanding that the concepts behind that's valuable. Listen, I'm not gonna eat white stuff. Great. That's better than not knowing that. But I think if you. If you go a step or two further, you start to understand why I'm not gonna eat white stuff, and then you can internalize it more. It takes on more meaning. And I think, again, I think don't eat white stuff. If that's all you hear and you follow that, I think you'll be better off, no doubt. But I think if you go a little bit deeper and understand why not eating white stuff, and specifically when we're talking about white stuff, we're really talking about flour, sugar, and I guess you want to talk about rice. I wouldn't. I wouldn't add rice there, but whatever. Flour and sugar. If you stop eating white, brown of flour and sugar, that for most Americans is going to dramatically improve their weight and health, you know. But if you understand why, I think it just leads you to have more kind of granular understanding of nutrition, how your body works, and all the rest of it. And that helps you think more like a thin, healthy person. So that's what I'm trying to say. You know, again, there's kind of just knowing some rule, like I heard, oh, don't eat white, and I don't do anymore, and I'm better off. That's great. Okay. But I think you get even more value out of that by researching it a little bit and understanding why white flour is worse than whole wheat flour, why, you know, white refined sugar is worse than even sugar in the raw, which isn't great for you, but it's better, you know? So I think understanding those things leads you to understand your body more and helps you. Because once you understand why is. Why is white flour worse than whole wheat flour? Because whole wheat flour is the whole. The whole. It depends what it is. A berry. Okay. Whereas the white flour is just part of it. And so they get rid of the bran, they get rid of the fiber, basically. And so it's not a whole food anymore. And so once you understand why that matters to your body and absorption rates and blood sugar and satiety and all this stuff, once you understand those factors, your level of understanding is so much deeper than just don't eat white stuff. And again, that's great, but there's so much more wisdom right below that if you study a little bit more of that for an hour or so. I think your sense of understanding how your body works and how foods operate within your body skyrockets. And now you're even better off to make better food decisions beyond just weight, so. But agreed with that. Incognito says I never get the notifications either. I don't get that. Yeah, I mean, honestly, like, even Tick Tock, I don't know what they're doing. Tick Tock's been so weird. I don't even know. I. I gotta be honest. I. I stream here and I don't even pay attention to it. I'm kind of. That's on the docket is like, getting the streaming thing dialed in a bit and I gotta do that. But, yeah, I don't know why they're not notifying people. It's. It's kind of weird. And like I told you, Instagram's not even working at all anymore, so it's like. Yeah, it's kind of hard. I don't know. Yeah. As Martyr says, that's me with chocolate and ice cream. Yeah, sure. That's what I mean, though. But. But, you know, like, listen, if. If there's. I think everyone can relate, right? There's certain foods where it's like, you know, some food you, hey, don't eat white stuff. You're like, oh, stop eating white stuff. Right? And then you're like, you're, oh, stop eating chocolate. Oh, I can't stop. You know, I mean, that's how it is. It's like some things are easy to stop or limit, and some things are hard. Why you? I'll dare you to find me a logical reason. You know, it's. It's usually this subconscious association we got to it, you know, And. And so. But once you understand that level and you start working on it, you can change it. It's just. It's not a logical level. Meaning that if I give you more and more information about chocolate and ice cream. It's probably not going to change your behavior. Most likely. Of course it would if I gave you the information, because I know how to give the information in a specific way. But just hearing more information about how bad ice cream is for you isn't. And that's the irony, isn't it? I mean, that. That's the. The paradox of weight loss is that you can listen to someone talk about how bad ice cream is for you and then want ice cream after that. And that, to me, gets to the very heart of how to manage your weight. You need to be able to explain that. I can explain that all day long. I've got a pretty robust theory to explain it, but I think most people don't. And if you have no idea how to deal with that piece, I don't know how you're ever going to deal. I don't know how you're gonna get your weight under control if you can't understand why, you know you shouldn't do something, but you can't get yourself to not do it. I. I think you gotta figure that part out. Jane says, yep, Facebook's not alerting. I have to search each morning. Yeah, like I said, I gotta. I don't know. The notifications are weird, you know. Yeah. Sherry says, so true. But don't be embarrassed about that. That's the other piece, too, though. I think. I think part of what the diet industry does is it causes you to just soak yourself in shame. You know, that? Like, oh, my God. I know I shouldn't eat ice cream. Oh, my God. Here I am, you know. Ice cream. So horrible. I'm such a bad. You're not a bad person. You're a beautiful, wonderful person who's never learned how to run their mind. I know this for a fact. This is. I know for a fact because I. I've done this for over 20 years, and I've watched people that were out of control gain control. And of course, if you have any chance of gaining control, you're going to have to learn how to run your mind, you know? That's all. But you've never learned how to run your mind, so I don't think you can be held responsible for not having control over your behaviors. I'm not sitting here trying to placate people and just, oh, it's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's your fault. But it's your fault for a reason you don't understand because you don't understand how to run your Mind. Once you understand how to run your mind, your ability to change your behaviors skyrockets. And now you're in a completely different situation. You can achieve different results. Yeah. Jane says, is sourdough better for us? Yeah, I mean, that's the theory. Sourdough is better for you. It kind of. It's kind of fermented food, so, you know, the absorption's slower, and there's other benefits to it. My sourdough is healthy as I use, like, fresh milk. I made a sourdough loaf. I'm telling you. I should show you this stuff. It's crazy. I've got. I've gotten so into it. I love it, and I haven't put any weight on. So, again, I. I say that to you all just to. And I'm like, I don't know. So. Oh, yeah, well, you're a skinny guy. You're not gonna put weight on. What the does that mean? I. If I start eating more food, I put weight on. I put £25 on 14 years ago. I put £25 on in, like, five months. So this idea. I don't know. Are there people that can just eat a bunch of calories extra and not gain weight? I don't think so. I think there's people that don't eat as much as you think they're eating, and they don't gain weight, you know, but. But anyways. Yeah. But my point is that I love sourdough. Sourdough is better for you, certainly, than wonder Bread. I believe it's better for you than whole wheat bread. So I think it's the healthiest bread. But that being said, you know, I don't think that, you know, I don't think it's as healthy as fruits and vegetables, but. But I think it's good. I like it, but I think it's got to be whole. What's up, Kelly? Kelly says I've opened up my mind to receiving all your hypnotic messages, and it's working for me. Almost like your program was the missing link to my weight loss journey. That's awesome, Kelly. I'm proud of you. Yeah. And that opening your mind to a new way, it's so freeing. Because, you know, most of you all, you spend your whole lives wondering what's wrong with you, right? I mean, you blame yourself for not losing weight. You blame yourself for not sticking to a diet. You're always blaming yourself. But I don't blame you because I don't think you've ever learned how to run your mind just because I Give you a sheet and say, okay, here, eat this way. Because that's the diet industry in a nutshell. The diet industry in a nutshell is. Here, do this. The diet industry is people telling you what to do, how to eat, but no one's ever, ever showing you how to get yourself to do it. It's just implied to just do it. Just force yourself to do it with your willpower. Here's the plan. That's my part, and now your part is to force yourself to follow it forever. That's. That is. And I think until you learn how to actually run your mind, how to actually run it, so you don't get discouraged, so you're not so negative to yourself, so that you're not mean to yourself, so that you're not falling to a pit of despair when you make a mistake, but instead look at it, learn from it, and get right back on track. I think until you're able to run your mind, I. I don't know how you would have any chance in hell of changing your weight. I could give you the perfect diet, which there is none. But imagine there was diet from on high. Come down the mountain, my tablet of diet rules for you, specifically for you, and I give them to you. It ain't going to help you if you can't change how your mind is operating. Yeah. Amy says, love this. Learn how to run your mind. Yeah, of course. Right. I hope you would love it because again, to me, this is a mission for me. You know, again, if you don't know my story, my father died when I was 9 years old. He was 54. He died of a heart attack. And his weight and lifestyle are absolutely big contributors to that. And so for me, weight is life and death. It's beyond just looking good in clothes. It's really life and death, how long you're going to be here and your quality of life while you're here. But beyond that, the thing that breaks my heart more than anything is that good, smart, wonderful people can spend their whole lives feeling like shit because they can't get their weight under control. And they blame themselves for not being able to do that, when in reality, you've never learned how to do it. You've never learned how to run your mind, and you don't even know. You don't even think it was an option. Like, that's the crazy part. I say this all the time. I'll say it again. Prove me wrong. If you can. You give me the name of a program or a person that will teach you how to think like a thin, healthy person. You tell me the name of the program, of the person who's going to teach you how to create the mindset of a thin, healthy person. The mindset that's going to help you lose weight. I dare you. I dare you. I. I don't. You don't even have to have done the program. Just name the program. I'll tell you what I'm expecting. I'm expecting no one to write anything because I asked this. I've been doing this for over three years. I've asked this question hundreds of times. I've never gotten an answer. And that's wild, because if you're going to ask me, well, I mean, in my program, we follow the goal weight pyramid, and look what's at the bottom. The base, the biggest part, is mindset. So in my world, I think mindset's the most important thing. And I ask you all to just name me a program or a person where you can learn how to have the mindset that's going to support your weight loss or the mindset of a thin, healthy person. Just name it. And you can't even name it. What's that mean? That, to me, means that the diet industry has deleted the importance of mindset right from our brains. They just wiped it out. Now, again, we said, why would the diet industry do that? Because the diet industry is wolves in sheep's clothing. The diet industry is the food processing companies, just a branch of them. Weight Watchers was owned by Heinz. Jenny Craig was owned by Nestle. Atkins Food Products, owned by the same company, owns On Pretzels. And Cinnabon Slim Fast, owned by the same company, owns Ben and Jerry's ice cream. I don't think these companies want you to lose weight. I don't think these companies want you to stop eating their food. I think they want to take your money. When you want to lose weight and fill your head up with all sorts of ineffective ideas. And I don't know how much more proof I would need than the fact that, again, at this point here, I'm asking you straight up, do you think your mindset matters? Do you think your mindset is impacting your weight or. And. Or your ability to change it? You're either saying yes or no. I hope it's yes. And if you're saying yes, yes, my mindset is actually important. I hope it smacks you straight in the face when you say, I don't. I can't even imagine who I would learn that from. I can't Think of one program that really went into mindset, and that to me, I don't know much evidence you would need that you've been set up for failure. And I don't even mind the failure as much as I hate that it's, it's failure. You've been set up for failure, and you've been set up to blame yourself for it as well, you know, and so that's why, that's literally, that is the reason I get on here every day, every week that I get on here. Because I feel like it's not fair that you all haven't, you don't even know about this mindset piece. You never even think about it. By the way, no one wrote me. Oh, wait, I think we did get someone. Oh, no. Okay. Calorie deficit queen talks about mindset, but not the, the way you describe it. Yeah. And again, I, you know, I don't know. Calorie deficit queen. So I gotta say right off the bat, and I'm sure she talks about more than the average person, but right off the bat, it's a whole nother level. I wouldn't, I hate the word deficit. You all raise your hand if you want to live in a deficit the rest of your life. You know what I mean? Like, the implication is that you're living less than so in program yourself. Then we reduce our average calorie consumption to a new level, a new normal. So again, I don't think, I mean, it's not my place to toot my own horn here. Okay, it is. Why, this is exactly the place I should be tooting my own horn. Wait a second, what am I saying? But I don't think you'll ever find someone who talks about the depths of mindset, of how to think like a thin, healthy person more than me. I literally think on planet Earth. I, I, I don't, I don't know. I, I really, there's not a lot of us. I've never met anyone, but, but that's another thing. But you know, to my point, though, there was no other answers. Again, Calorie deficit queen may talk about mindset, and you gotta be careful that, I mean, weight watchers talk about mindset. So I'm not saying that no one's ever mentioned mindset. I'm saying that no one really explains it in a practical, effective way. And I think people give it lip service and mention to it. But what's the real there there, even to the point. If I had to define your mindset, you know, I had to come up with. I mean, I came up with this pyramid first of all, but even the mindset piece, we go into six specific areas. I've never seen anyone define mindset in this way, and I only defined it based on my experience. I've done over 6,000 private weight loss sessions in my life. You know, so you start to notice patterns. But my point isn't about great. I am. My point really is, though, that you're. Please stop beating yourself up and blaming yourself, because you've never learned the most important piece of the weight loss puzzle, which is how to run your mind. So I would love for you to take that energy from beating yourself up and aim it at learning how to run your own mind. How do you run your own mind? How do you do it? Because once you figure that out, the whole weight loss game changes. Yeah. Amy says store bought and homemade are two different things. Absolutely, too. That's so true. Oh, thank you, Christina. Christina says you're the master king of defining mindset. I, I agree. I agree. And I, I say that because I've read Carol Dweck. She's considered the queen of mindset. She's the fixed growth lady. Right. And I love her work. I think it's wonderful. That being said, I find it to be wanting in terms of actual practical application. I think conceptually it's wonderful. But I think in terms of actual practical use, day to day life, certainly for weight loss, it's a nice, it's a valuable, it's an important concept, I believe, but it's not the whole thing. And just to prove the point, in my world, again, I consider. Now, how do you define mindset? I'll tell you how I define it. And I think these are the practical things of mindset that you need in order to actually use them to influence your weight. In order of importance, mindset motivations. First. Do you know how to motivate yourself? Like genuinely, do you want to motivate yourself? You get discouraged. You know how to turn that around and get yourself motivated again. Do you know how to do that? Have you ever learned how to do that? No. Do you know how to shift your identity or your self image? Do you know that you have an idea of who you are? You have a mental representation of who you are? If you've been overweight for a long time, that identity is wrapped up in being overweight. And we always live up or down to our self image. This is why it's estimated 85 to 95% of dieters that lose weight put the Weight back on. I think a big part of that is that they identify as overweight people even though they've lost the weight. So I think you gotta learn how to change your self image and identity as well. Your habits. Do you know how to strategically manage your habits, how to transform the unhealthy ones and implement healthy ones? Do you know how to strategically, in a neuroscientifically backed way, do that? Or are you just winging it, just trying to force yourself to the right thing? Are you using any strategy at all with your habits? Emotions. Do you know how to manage your emotions genuinely? Because in this society we've learned how to use, we've been programmed to use food as our main emotional management strategy. Do you know how to manage your emotions genuinely without food? Because if you don't, how are you going to manage your weight? How are you going to manage your eating? Thinking. Do you know how to think like a thin, healthy person? Like the nuts and bolts of thinking. Do you know the questions to ask? Do you know the phrases to say? Do you know the concepts to think within the paradigms of a thin, healthy person? You ever learn those? And maintenance. Do you know how to maintain program yourself? Then we start day one a maintenance mindset. Because the goal is not to lose weight. The goal is to live at your goal weight. And the most important thing in order to make that a reality is you need to be able to maintain, and not just maintain your weight loss. You need to maintain before you even have any weight loss. You need to maintain from day one to day two, week one to week two. Maintenance. Do you know how to get off track and then get yourself back on track? Maintenance. Do you know how to deal with times of stress and struggle? So if you don't know those six things, I, I don't. To me, you're, you're, you know, you're going into a bazooka fight with a banana. I, I just, I don't see any chance in hell of how you're going to figure that out if you don't know those things. And yet here you are beating yourself up because you, you, oh, you ate a cookie. You know what I mean? Like, like there's a lot more going on than that. Yeah. Jane says yes, the mindset's the missing piece, of course. Right. Gloria loves it. Thank you, Gloria. Oh, Nina says I make sourdough love some videos on how to make it healthier. The main way to make it healthier is don't eat it all can be hard to do because I'll tell you a little secret, is because someone mentions this a minute ago, that store bought versus homemade is. Is a big difference. Agreed. Agreed. But, you know, everything's good and bad. Everything's good and bad. And homemade bread is good because it's healthier. It's bad because if you've never had bread that was baked an hour and a half ago, Holy. It's like a whole nother thing. It's hard not to eat it all. Not really, but it can be. It can be. You know, I've had to work on it. I had to work on it. Could I eat a whole loaf of bread? Yes, I can. As my brother said the other day, you've always been weird with bread. I've been telling you, I've been telling you this all for. Since I've been on here, you know, I said, for three years, I've been telling you. You know, my thing. I used to eat a lot of sugar and candy too, but that was never really my thing. Like, I would never, like, get caught up in the desserts as much. That wasn't my thing. My thing was carbs. Like, I could eat a loaf of bread and be fine, feel fine, you know. So for me, I ate pasta every night growing up and I pasta every night, bread constantly. Like multiple times a day. I was a big carb person. So to all of a sudden be making sourdough bread and not eat it all again. To me, that's just proof that this approach works. You know, making a loaf a day. I usually, you know, I give them away a lot though. But yeah, I am going to make some videos on my sourdough because a, I got a lot of. I've gotten really good at making sourdough. I'm not gonna lie. I've been making sourdough for over three months now, and I've gotten pretty good. I mean, I got a long way to go, but I. I've learned a lot of things. I can help people make sourdough, but I also, I do make healthy sourdough. I use fresh mill. Not always, but I've experimented with fresh mill. My wife got me the greatest. It was the coolest gift. It was from a grain co op. So I got a lot of like, kind of ancient grains. It's really cool. It's a whole thing. So, yes, I am going to make videos on that and I will talk about how to make it healthier and how to deal with that. Yeah, Jane. Jane loves the. The elephant and the rider explanation. That really is good. Yeah. For those of you that don't know it, go click the link in my bio or go to program yourself. Then go get the free hypnosis session. And then there's a training I give you as well that goes through all that. And I think that, yeah, that elephant rider is really good. And by the way, you know, again, get in my world. I got a report I'm making right now. It's so good. It's talking about why you haven't been able to lose the weight. And it's a free report I'm going to be giving you. So I would definitely recommend you all get that. You can't get it yet. I haven't given it out yet, but go to my. If you're in Tick Tock, click my picture on the left. Go to the link and click that and get it. If you're anywhere else, go to program yourself then and get it. Christina says one thing that's really helped me is learning to live and feel in the present and deal with it as it happens. Yeah, right, Christine, exactly. Christine's in the program. And so, yeah, that's a lot of it. A lot of us is learning how to deal with life, you know. You know, it's. It's not that much different. I mean, if you watch, like, substance abuse programs at this point, there's almost. They're. They're helping you deal with triggers. And so I think that's something that's absolutely relevant here as well, says what you espouse, including mindset, is applicable to all areas of life, not only weight management. Yes, absolutely. I would agree again. Yeah, of course. Because when you run your mind, your mind's, you know, you're using your mind to deal with everything in your life. So obviously, once you learn how to run your mind, it's going to be applicable to everything, so. Agreed as well. All right, everyone get out of here. Again, if you're not in my world, click the link in my bio. Go get that hypnosis session. If you're in Facebook or YouTube, you can scroll up in the comments and you'll see I put the link to it. And if you like this, I'm here every Monday through Fridays around noon Eastern. I'm happy to answer your questions, talk to you about whatever your situation may be, help you move forward. And if you're not able to make the lives, it's also a podcast and you can search any podcast platform, search program yourself, then it'll pop up and you can listen to it whenever you want. And yes, this book's available. The dao of living at your goal weight. So this is available on Amazon. The kindle version is 299. The physical version is 9.99. That's the one. I'd suggest getting this book. It's got a nice energy to it. Leave it around your house and read it. I think you're gonna like it. All right, so go check this out. Ange says you're amazing. Thank you very much, Angie. I appreciate you saying that. I appreciate that. Everyone else, have a super duper day, and we will talk soon. Bye, everyone.
