Don't Trust Yourself If You Want To Lose Weight

In this live podcast episode Jim Katsoulis (Program Yourself Thin) argues that successful weight loss begins with doubting one’s own assumptions about eating habits and motivation. He explains that most people over‑estimate their self‑knowledge, make hundreds of unconscious food decisions daily, and rely on extrinsic motivations (appearance) that are weak. By adopting a mindset of "I don’t fully trust my intuition" listeners are encouraged to examine hidden beliefs, calorie mis‑estimates, and missing strategies. The episode introduces the core components of the Program Yourself Thin system: a goal‑weight blueprint, daily hypnosis sessions (5‑minute morning, 10‑minute evening), the eight‑week structured program, and the follow‑up Thrive program with live classes and new hypnosis content. Jim also promotes his new book The Dao of Living at Your Goal Weight, which presents weight‑loss concepts as short, hypnotic stories designed for repeated, relaxed reading. He discusses the role of intrinsic motivation, the impact of GLP‑1 medications as proof that excess calories drive weight gain, and the importance of integrating weight‑loss practices into one’s identity rather than treating them as an add‑on. Throughout, the tone is conversational, supportive, and persuasive, urging listeners to adopt a more honest, strategic, and holistic approach to achieving and maintaining their goal weight.

Everyone, welcome to today's program Yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about don't trust yourself if you want to lose weight. And I really mean this, but I mean it in a unique way. Okay? So right now, you probably kind of find yourself if you want to lose weight. You're someone who probably finds yourself some of the time believing everything you think and other times not believing anything about yourself. And we need to get control of this, because if we look at weight loss in a very kind of, we take a step back and look at in a more calculated, logical way, what you'll start to realize is that if you want to lose weight, we want to go into it with the idea that you're not going to trust yourself, but we're not going to trust ourselves in a loving and supportive way. Okay, so let me put it in a slightly different perspective. Let's just say you decided you wanted to start playing the piano. Never played the piano before, but you want to start playing well, you're going to go into that, and you're not going to trust yourself that you know how to play the piano. Not going to trust that you know how to play chords or scales or songs or any of these things. You're going to trust yourself because you know in that situation that you've never played the piano. And so you don't have any of those skills. Okay. The problem with food and weight is that you've been kind of intermingling with some of these skills, and so it presents almost like you should know these things. Okay? So you probably, in your mind, believe that you have a good sense of how much you're reading what you're reading when you're reading all the rest of it. But we want to start by recognizing that a human brain is not very aware of itself. It just doesn't understand everything it's doing. It's estimated we make over 200 food decisions a day. And so most of this processing is happening in the background out of our awareness. And so we want to start to realize this. And as we approach our weight in a more concerted, With a concerted effort, we want to approach it by saying, I know. I think I know what I'm doing. I know. I think I have a good sense of how much I eat, when I eat, and my calories, all the rest of it. But I probably don't. And I think this is a very, very healthy attitude. Because what happens is when you have this framework that you say, I love myself, I want to create a different weight and A different quality of life for myself. But at this moment, I don't really trust my intuitions. I don't trust them because I believe that your weight is a reflection of what your intuitions are, what your typical thought processes are. And so if we want to change that, we want to start by realizing, I think I know what I'm doing. I think I know the right stuff, but maybe I don't because I'm not really happy with the results I'm getting. And this is such a beautiful place to be. Because when you don't get the results you want, you start to reflect. Not on if you're a good or bad person, but you start to look at what you believed about the situation, what you believed you were eating, what you believed you had to do. And we start to reflect on that. That's the secret. Because I think most people believe they know what they're doing, and if they don't get the results, they think there's something wrong with them. But the only thing wrong with you most likely is the beliefs you have, what you think you're doing, whether it be right or wrong. You think that's the right thing to do, but it's not. And so if you can create a little bit of separation between what your behaviors are and who you are as a person, and you start to realize, well, if I'm not behaving the right way, let me reflect on that. Let me look at it. If I'm not getting the weight loss I want, let me take a step back and look for what I'm probably missing. I feel like if you start looking for what you may be missing, that can be the most powerful thing to focus on. Because I've noticed that working with clients, and I've done almost 6,000 private weight loss sessions, that what really ends up moving the needle the most is when people discover something about themselves. Either there was a lack of a strategy or a belief to support them, or there was the wrong strategy or belief to support them. And oftentimes that's gonna be the main thing, right? That again, I can't tell you the number of dieters say, I'm doing everything right and I'm not losing weight, something's wrong with me. When in reality, they're just consuming too many calories. You know what I mean? Like, they were consumed more than they thought they were. But if they think that they're doing everything right, but they're not getting the results they want, then it's very easy to give up, because it's very frustrating. You feel like I'm doing everything right, not getting the results. Something I don't know about is broken. And I what's the point? But if you're not getting the results you want, you take a step back and you start to reflect on what may be the mistake I'm making. What, what about this process am I doing that I might be kind of overlooking or missing or doing wrong? And if you start focusing on it that way, you start to illuminate and highlight these different pieces much quicker, you know, and again, sometimes dieters will never illuminate these things because again, they're so trapped in their mindset. Well, I'm doing everything right, you know, but you're probably not doing everything right. Then there's nothing wrong with that. But again, what we're looking to do here is we're looking to change. We're looking to transform from one version of ourselves into another. And so that requires that some new information, some new ideas, some new behaviors are going to come into the system. And the fastest way to make those happen in the most effective way is to, again, not to just trust yourself that you know what you're doing, that you're seeing everything, that you're aware of all the things that are affecting your weight, but instead to go into and say, I think I know what I'm doing, but I probably don't because I'm not getting the results I want. And so I'm going to look and be open to the idea that I'm doing some things wrong, I'm missing some things, or I've been convinced to do some things that don't really work for me. And if you start to adopt that approach, you'll make faster progress, I can almost guarantee it. All right, so give that some thought if you are want to go deeper into this way of thinking, you know, because what supports this way of thinking very much is, is hypnosis. And so I have a free hypnosis session for. It's called the new Thin me. You can click the link in my bio or go to program yourself then.com I'll actually for you Facebook, YouTube people, I'll type the link in here. But you can go and get this free hypnosis session. It is called the new Thin Me. It's a kickstart session and it's just there waiting for you. And on top of that, once you download it, you also get a free training called three steps to master your weight. And you get a bunch of other free stuff as well. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. Hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a nice weekend to New York City. It's a Hadestown. Pretty good. It was really good actually. I'd never seen it before. One of my daughter's favorite shows and I will say I give it two thumbs up. It was very, very good. Very emotional I would say but I enjoyed it. Nice time but oh the eating, the eating. We knocked ourselves out. Got started with hand pulled noodles which I. I love noodles. They were a little bit much. They're very good but. But a little bit much to start the day off with. But anyways they were super good. Hot chili oil. Oh man. How's the stuff on the show? Was good. But yes, enough about me. We do have the new book is out for those of you that have downloaded and read a review, written a review for me. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much. This is the book Me on mirror myself on Tik Tok land here. But this is the new book the dao of living at your goal weight. Yep, it's the new one. New book just released last week. Really exciting. Got it up to number one. Got number one one category. Number two in another category. So I'd say that was very successful. Thank you so much. Almost at 50 reviews. So thank you so much again for everyone that's left to review and I you know I really appreciate it because I know that sometimes where you have to. I can't say the name of the site right now because I don't want TikTok to ban me. So there's that. But you know the main place people buy books these days. Yeah. So it's a pain in the ass. You know sometimes you try and leave a review and it didn't do right and doing whatever. I'm actually having this issue right now because I'm trying to get this book pricing back down to normal where it's going to be from now on. And so I'm still working on that. I thought I fixed it last week but there was a weird issue and it's not real obvious. So anyways this book is even going to be less expensive once I fix that. But anyways thank you to everyone who wrote me a review and who downloaded the book and has been reading it. I appreciate all the feedback. It's. It's been great. But yeah, but if you have any questions feel free to ask them. People are doing for a lot of people. You know. In my opinion this is when you start to. This is when we Start to get rolling, you know, so if you're in the. If you're a program yourself, then world. We've taken the last, really, the first 12 days of January, I suppose, and. And it's been really more of a getting ourselves ready mode, you know. So instead of just January 1st and we like just, you know, everything's perfect, we start building ourselves back up with small little things. And, you know, it helps so much. I drove yesterday for, you know, we were straight out, you know, three. Three. I'm about three hours away. I did all the driving, you know, did straight driving, got back all the rest of it. I feel great today, you know, so I'm feeling good. I will say my. My start of the year plan is off to a perfect start, and a lot of my clients are, too. Again, when you get strategic about how you approach the new year, really, when you get strategic about how you approach anything, you typically get much better results. But for those of you that are wanting to lose weight in the new year, there's a great chance that you intended to start that off right at the beginning of the year. And now Here you are 12 days in, and it feels like you've lost another year. I hope you don't feel that way. You've got plenty of time. The specific day does not matter. And you. You always have the opportunity to transform your body. So hope that that helps you a little bit. And again, if you are looking to do that, make sure you go get the free stuff. I give you, like, a lot of cool free stuff. Coming. Christine says, can we order in Europe? Yeah, Yeah. I think the secret is if you're in a different country, you got to make sure that you're on the not like dot com, that's us's. You got to make sure you're in your countries. And. And I did notice that was kind of a pattern, so. Oh, that's awesome, Shell. That's awesome. Thank you, Shell. Got the hard copy yesterday. Love it. We'll review after this live. Thank you so much. I really appreciate that. Again, this is the book I will. I don't know. You know, it's like part of me, like, I could be like, oh, go, go. The link in my bio. Go the link in my bio. And. But then I give the hypnosis session away there, and that's free, so that's kind of why I leave that there, you know, I mean, like, I could link to this, but instead I like to give the hypnosis session away for free because this is not free anymore. This was free last week. It's now you have to pay for it. But I'm gonna lower the price on this. I, I, it's, it's a little complicated. I will say, you know that that site is a little complicated sometimes. So anyways. But that's awesome, Shell. I'm glad you got the hard copy. You're gonna love it. Oh yeah. You got England. Okay. Got yours in two days. Yeah. Right. If you order from the right site, you should get. I believe. Yeah, I've got, I've got tons of these now. They're everywhere. As a matter of fact, I got another, another shipment coming tomorrow. Fit by Ashley. How's it going? Checking in with fitness and positivity. Nice. That's awesome. It's going great. Hope you're having a good year too. Yeah. Getting fit. Getting fit in the new year. All right. I like that. I like getting fit. I could talk about fit all day long though. I, I think sometimes for most of my clients anyways, I think fit is a word that would be, people would do be well served if they, if they expanded on that definition though. Right. Adrian says, can you speak about the Thrive program? Yeah. And, and I, I apologize a little bit because, you know, I know, I know sometimes I kind of talk about stuff and I'm not making it clear enough. The Thrive program is for people that have been in program yourself thin. So Thrive, the Thrive program is only for people that have gone through the program yourself thin system. And the Thrive program is a continuation. So basically, you know, in one part of the program yourself thin system is that every day, every morning you get a five minute hypnosis session and every night you listen to a 10 minute session, which is each week you get a hypnosis session that's a 10 minute one in each day. You get, every weekday you get a five minute morning hypnosis session. And so it's similar to the program where every morning you're kind of getting the new 5 minute 1 and then at night you're listening to the weekly one and that one you're gonna listen to repeatedly because the weekly one's kind of a core weight loss mantra. This is a deeper session. That one's 10 minutes and the morning one's five minutes. They have different, the goals of them are different. Right. The five minute one is designed to get you in the routine and habit of kind of starting your day, relaxed, calm, turning your attention inwards, and then having all sorts of good ideas put in your mind. Right. And then the, the evening one is meant to kind of do deeper work. Right. It's a deeper session to really go deep into that. That core mantra and that idea. And the idea is that we're bookending our day. Okay. In addition, with the Thrive program, there's also a special class we do every Monday at 3pm Eastern. We have a live class where I'll usually, I'll cover it just. It ranges and depends. But we'll usually deep dive into some different things in the program. Sometimes I'll do. I'll go over books. I'll do like book summaries and book reviews, talk about those. Sometimes we'll do workshops, but every week we do something a little different. But it's usually a deep dive into some aspect of the Program yourself then system, whether it's specifically Program yourself then or something that, you know, I thought would be really useful for you. So you get those every week. You get a monthly challenge every week. So. So that's the Thrive program. And again, I know I have not. I'm going to be promoting that because I. I've not promoted that at all. But that's coming down the pike. It's all been re. Kind of redone as well. So if you're interested in that, shoot me an email at Jim at Program Yourself then dot com. And I gave you the link to that. And you can start any, anytime. But you're gonna get. I'm gonna promote that a little bit this week. I'm sure it'll be this week actually. So you'll get information about it anyways too. But I think you'll love it. If you enjoyed Program Yourself, then I think you. The Thrive program is just more of that. It's. It's continuation. So Shelly says it's worth every penny. Very good. Thank you. I'm glad. I'm glad you like it. Yeah. People loving it. I, I love this book. I. I can't get enough of it. I think it's. I. I think it's one of the most unique weight loss books you'll ever read. I really do. And it really is a reflection of really what I've been doing for 30 years. Personal. Over 30 years. Personally, over 20 years. Professionally. It's really the whole Program Yourself then system in a nutshell, in a very easy and, you know, accessible nutshell. That's kind of my goal of this. But it's hypnotic stories. So for those of you on the other side of it, you don't have to know anything about programming yourself then. This book is meant for someone who's never heard of me. Never heard of any of this. To read through it and have an experience. That's one of the things about this book. Each chapter is kind of a hypnotic story. So they are written very strategically to not only kind of teach you things and guide you along, but to give you an experience so, so that you start to naturally and easily start to think differently, feel differently and ultimately act different. You know, that's the goal. Adrian says do you get an invitation after the initial eight week program is over? You're supposed to, but I don't think it's working properly. So yes, this week though, I'm going to, I'm organizing all that and that will be said. So like I said, if you're interested this week you will hear about it. If for some reason you don't shoot me a message. But yeah, but if you're in the program, just, just finish that first anyways. I don't think you'd want to do both at the same time. A little, A little much. But once you finish, I think it's great. Yeah, people love it. And that's again because you just, every day you just, you just kind of continue. But every day it's a new session. So you know, it's just always new sessions. So, you know, they, they don't listen to the same sessions over and over does I think reduce the effectiveness a little bit, you know, because when you start to listen to the same hypnosis session repeatedly, you start getting in the, I don't know, it's different for each person, but you start to know it, you know what I mean? And as soon as, you know, this session, it, I feel like it becomes less hypnotic because you're kind of in your head listening to it and you're almost like, you know, you're less, you're less in a trance because you're paying attention, you know everything that's going to happen with it. Whereas when it's new sessions, you're kind of more in the moment know, you don't know what to expect. You're kind of, you're more present. And so that's why I did that, that Thrive program. And it's quite an accomplishment, I think. I mean it's, it's a full, you know, it's a year. You just keep getting new sessions. So yeah, so check that out. But I, I love that program and then I love the lessons we do. So I mean if you, if you love program yourself, then the deep dives into all the stuff we do are really Good. I mean even like last week for example, last week in Thrive, we did, we went over a book that I really liked. It was called. Oh, what was it called? Hold on, let me look. I'm not good with remembering book names anymore. I, I read too many books and it's like I can't keep them all straight in my head. It's a craving something though. Hold on, let me. Oh, that's not what I wanted. The Craving mind. How can I remember that? By Judson Brewer. Very good book. I love that book. And so we talked about cravings last, last week because for a lot of you, cravings were kind of rear in their heads. You know, it was the beginning of the new year and all that. So anyways, each week we kind of deep dive into different stuff. So yeah, that's what that's all about, Vicki. Thanks Vicki. I know. I, I'm sorry. Vicky said I couldn't wait till the price went down, so I ordered two more copies of the book for gift giving. Well, I appreciate you doing that again. I, it does take a little while for the price to update, which is what kind of slowed me up. But what I realized today, because I'm like, this is taking too long, is that it didn't update right. So I'm gonna fix that. So it'll be another couple days I guess, but sorry about that. But hey, whatever. Eventually the book will be cheaper. So that's what we all want. So you'll be able to get this for less. Okay. But you can get it now. You can pay a little extra. It's still relatively cheap. I'll tell you. It's like this book is, I think you can always return it. Right? But this book to me is the best value, the best value could possibly make in your weight. I, I, I say that without any hesitation. This is the book. I would have done anything to have this thing 30 years ago. Holy macaroni. And it's so awesome. I love this book because I am a hypnotist. So it's not just, the idea is that you're not just reading words, you're having an experience. And it's worked out better than I could have imagined because I've talked to a lot of people now at this point, but people will, they'll mention that the ideas of the stories and everything will pop up in their head just randomly throughout the day. And that to me is when hypnosis is working most effectively, is when it just kind of pops up into your head naturally, you know, and that, that's really what this all means. The dao of living at your goal weight. The dao piece of it is really, again, it's a, it's an Eastern philosophy, Daoism. But the idea, you know, there's a lot of definitions of it, but one idea is that we want to work with our environment. Instead of fighting, we're going to flow and we're looking for the easy, comfortable, sustainable way to approach things. And I think that. So that was a very intentional word that I picked there is that I think most people approach weight loss like it's got to be a battle and a fight in a war. And I think the best weight loss is the weight loss that feels comfortable and easy and enjoyable. I think that's the best weight loss you can achieve. And that's what this is all about. And it goes through really the whole program yourself then system, which in a nutshell, you know, basically program yourself then we really follow the goal weight pyramid mindset lifestyle eating right. You have how to think, live and eat like a thin, healthy person. And so this book literally goes through all of those, those categories, you know, but it does in a very accessible, enjoyable way. So that is that. But yeah, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. If you have no questions, that's fine too. Could be quiet day. Nothing wrong Quiet days. Book room says exactly that book's monetary worth is priceless. Well, thank you. I appreciate you saying that. I would say that. I, I think again, that's that. And I will say for, for people that ordered the book, ordered the program on New Year's Day, these are being shipped out today. So took a little, took a little bit, but I had to wait till they got shipped. It was a little bit of a delay in shipping, but I got them now. So you should have them by the end of the week, next week, early, early to go and you'll get a signed copy. So those are coming through. But yeah, if anything, questions feel free questions about anything. Weight loss, getting started, motivation plans. Feel free to ask any. I am a weight loss. I mean really, I'm a goal weight coach. You say, well, what's the difference? That a weight loss coach? No, it's a goal weight coach. The difference being that I think there's a big difference between wanting to lose weight and wanting to live at your goal weight. And so in program yourself then we aim right at the ultimate goal, not the goal. Along the way, we aim at the ultimate goal because again, your goal is not to lose weight. Your goal is to Live at your goal weight. You've lost weight before, you want to do that again, you want to lose some weight and put it back on. Of course not. That's not your real goal. But if you really recognize that and you take a step back, you realize you've never fixated or focused on living at your goal weight. It's always been an obsession on losing weight as fast as you can. And that is the core mindset issue that most dieters have, is that they're obsessed about losing weight, but they never really focus on being able to live at their goal weight. And there's just a huge difference between the two. So that's what I do, you know, is help people live at their goal weight. And it changes the whole paradigm of it because it's no longer just like a race to see how much weight you can lose. It becomes much more a skill you're developing. And of course, the skill of living at your goal weight is comprised of sub skills, you know, and we break those down into real simple categories. How to think, live and eat like a thin, healthy person and how to run your mind like a thin, healthy person. And I make the distinction. You said, was that mindset? No, I mean, I think mindset is kind of like the core of kind of like what you believe, how you think about things, you know, how you might be able to motivate yourself, all that lifestyle and eating, obvious. But how to run your own mind is really the process, you know, of how to do it. And I think when you have all those pieces though, and you know how to do all of them, your chances of living at your goal weight go way up, you know, but if you're trying to live at your goal weight and you have no idea how to motivate yourself, you have no idea how to shift your self image into that of a thin, healthy person. You don't know how to influence your habits effectively and strategically. You don't know how to manage your emotions genuinely without food. You don't know how to think like a thin, healthy person. You don't know how to maintain your motivation, your success, your, your behaviors. You don't know how to live like a thin, healthy person. You don't have to eat like a thin, healthy person. You have no idea how to run your mind if you, you don't have any of those skills. I, I, I don't know how you would ever be able to live at your goal weight for long. You know, you could fake it. You could force yourself to do that for a little while, and lose some weight for a little bit and put it on, which is what most people do. But if you don't know how to think, live, eat like a thin, healthy person, if you don't know how to run your mind at all, how exactly are you going to lose weight long term? You know, so that's, that's the point. And, and I think once you recognize that, the, the beauty of that is to realize that no wonder, no wonder you haven't lost any weight, no wonder haven't kept it off because you never learned any of that stuff, you know? But the beauty there is that if you take the time to learn it, everything changes once you have those skills. It's a completely different game, completely different process. Joel says sometimes dieting seems like an add on to your real life. The way you describe it makes it about who you are and what you do. Thank you. Well, thank you, Shell. I, I, I like that. Yes, exactly. Sometimes dieting feels like an add on to your real life. I think that's a great, that is a beautiful description, Shell. You know, I'm going to actually screenshot that. That is such a great description. Yes. I think most dieters, it's like an add on. And most dieters are already stressed to the gills. Right? Just life just, you're just up to here and what happens, you're gonna take on this whole other thing and I'm gonna completely change my eating too. And it's too much, you know, and it feels like an extra thing. That's why you let it go, right? When life gets too. So you, so you're already up to here, but that's it. I gotta lose the weight. Then you do it for a little while, but then you really hit maximum overload. And then you say, I gotta let go of something. You let go the weight, you let go the diet, you know, and, and I know that. So with Program Yourself then so much of it is integrating it into who you are as a person. And again, one of the main philosophies we have in Program yourself then is to be all or something. You know, everyone's all or nothing with weight loss. But that's not a path of success when it comes to weight loss. You can't be all or nothing because you're gonna be mostly nothing. And so what we want to do is we want to be all or something. We're always in the game, sometimes more, sometimes a little less, but always in the game. That, that's the, the approach, I think that makes a lot more sense you know, and gets you way more entered, you know, of the results you're looking for. So. Thanks for saying that, Shell. I think that's a great description. Bookworm says the book reviews have been totally awesome. Oh, I know. The book reviews are so good. I, I gotta say, like, it is. Talk about melting a heart. It, it is, it is so validating and, and it's just so awesome reading the, the reviews for this book. It's, it's awesome. So I, I'm so thankful for everyone who wrote to him. It really. I'm not gonna like, I, I'm not. I, I don't believe in false modesty and humbleness. It's not real. So I think, you know, listen, I don't think I know everything, but I, I think I do know about weight. It's, you know, I mean I've been, I've been at this for over 30 years and I've been at it on my own path, you know, I mean, I really, I really been walking a unique path, I think. No question about it. And so to put this together was so exciting for me because one of the big challenges with Program Yourself then historically has been that either, either I work with people kind of privately, right. That's a huge investment for people and, or they get the program yourself then system, which is a much more affordable option. And it's extra affordable this week too, by the way. I want to let you know that, that this is it. And I know I've said this before, but I promise you this is it. And I know I promised before too, but really this is it. That this is the last week that it's going to be at that price and it's going up next week and that is okay. Now that being said, next week it goes up 200 bucks. But you will get the physical copies of these books. Okay, but you know, you can, you can save 200 bucks now and if you want the physical copies, you know, it's like 40 bucks, you know, so still a better deal right now, but I'm just letting you know that. But anyway, so, so, so that was how, you know, you can work with me, but program yourself in system. It's great, but it is, you know, I always think of program yourself as like a college course. You know, this is basically the workbook for the program and this is the goal weight blueprint. This is a, you know, this is 144 pound page book, you know, 144 page book. So there's a lot in here, you know, so that's been one of the challenges of program yourself then is that it's a meaty, it's a meaty subject. Now. That's because in my opinion, if you're going to have any chance at all of living at your goal weight, you're going to need, you're going to need to have a comprehensive holistic approach to mastering your weight, not just don't eat for 16 hours. I, I don't think anything that simple is going to really get the job done. So that's why it is that. But anyways, this book here, the beauty of this was this was my intention. I was literally, I remember it was the beginning of September and I was getting ready to work on another book and I was hit by inspiration. I said, let's write a real, a book that's kind of a, an overview of this. It's easy to read. Just know anyone in the world could just see this book open up to any chapter at any time and, and get some value out of it. And that was the motivation. And I was so struck by it that I committed the next three months to writing this book. And that's the goal that you can just literally, it's designed to be opened up anywhere you want. Boom. Pick a chapter, read it. You know, every chapter is a page or two. There's 40 chapters total. Each chapter is a page or two. And again, if you read it in order, great. But you don't have to read in order because each story is meant to deliver a different idea and message into your mind. And the goal is that you'll read this repeatedly, you know, and every time you read it, you'll get a little something in that moment. That's the goal. So. And by reading the reviews, I gotta say I, I think I did it. I'm really so happy. Thank you so much everybody. The reviews, they're just top notch. I mean, I'm just, and they're just so thoughtful. So again, thank you so much. And I'm just. Ratings. It's literally really well thought out reviews and it's just reading through those is, it's just, it's a wonderful experience. So thank you so much everyone who did that. And he says, how do I get this book? And is it easily available in South Africa? Yeah, I mean, you know, as long as you got that, that website where people order books on the world, you know, the, the river, the, what do they call it, the rainforest. I can't say that. If I say it, they, they restrict me on, on tick tock. So I'm not gonna say it, but if you go to your country's version of that site, it should be there and you should have it in a day or two. You know, it's pretty quick. So what's up, Kip? Kip says, new to your I am thin world. And I was surprised how easy it was to make my internal reasoning top 10 list versus externally. Just looking at the scale. A totally new way to shift that old school scale paradigm. Thanks, Jim. Kip. You're welcome. I'm gonna screenshot that because that makes me so happy, because people don't realize this is what Kip just wrote to me is the starting point of all success. And just to prove that I'm. I mean that in program yourself, then again, we follow the goal weight pyramid, right? Mindset, lifestyle eating. And those are broken down into more subcategories, right? So when it comes to mindset, the very first thing we do is focus on motivation. In my opinion, motivation is really the engine that drives the car. And most people are driving around with a 10 horsepower engine that's just not up to the job. And so in program yourself, then the very first thing we do is to go into the motivation. Just, just like Kip said here, the idea of when he talks about internal, external motivation wise, we. We refer to that as extrinsic and intrinsic, right? So extrinsic is external motivators, intrinsic is internal motivators. So if you think about weight loss, pretty much your whole life, you have been conditioned to think an extrinsic motivator, right? Most people want to lose weight because they want to look better. That's an extrinsic motivator. Now, in the science of motivation, which there is a science, motivation, extrinsic motivation is the weakest form. So that's another way to say that is the motivation that you have been taught to build your entire weight loss around your entire life through literally millions of diet ads is the weakest form of motivation. And so if you wonder why, you can kind of start a plan and stick with it for a little while and then you quit. This is one of the core reasons. It's because you're not really motivated. You're superficially motivated, you're externally motivated. And that's different than the motivation you feel for your job, your career, your kids, your partner, right? You think about that motivation. If you're a parent, you wake up and you're tired and don't feel well, and your kid needs food, you still make the food for Them you wake up and you'd rather just lay in bed all day while you still get up and go to work. Okay, so your motivation's much deeper in other areas of your life where your intrinsic motivation is much deeper. And that's the main thing dictating your motivation. And unfortunately, you've never learned how to use that. You've never learned how to tap into and run your motivation strategically, expertly, masterfully. You're just winging your motivation. If you're an overweight person who wants to lose weight, I got news for you. You don't know how to motivate yourself. If you're overweight and you want to lose weight, your weight is actually a good reflection of what your motivation actually is. Most dieters think their motivations way up here, when in reality, your motivation is always right in line with what your weight is right now. So, you know, there's that. And so anyways, I think, in my opinion, to get started, but certainly to stay there, if you're going to have any chance at all living your goal weight, you're going to need to tap into and use different motivation than you've used in the past. And you're going to have to go beyond just wanting to look good. You need to go into deeper motivation. I've never seen just wanting to look good matter enough for a person to succeed. And I know you think it does, but listen to me. If you think, no, Jim, no, I really want to look good. If you've been saying that for 30 years and you haven't lost weight, it's not really motivating you. Motivating isn't something you're going to convince me of. It's something we look at together and discover. You don't understand what I'm saying. So you say. I can't tell you the number of conversations I've had where people are trying to convince me that they're. No, they're. I'm more motivated than that. No, I'm more motivated. No, you're not. Stop saying that. That's why I, I went back to. What I was talking about today is don't trust yourself so much. You're not as motivated as you thought. You're, you're, you know, you weigh what you want to weigh. You weigh what you want to weigh. Weight's one of the freest, you know, most personal decisions you get to make in your life. And you're, you're weighing what you want to weigh most likely. And I don't say that in a shameful way. Please understand, this isn't fat shaming and all that stuff. It's none of that at all. But come on, if you say, no, no, I really want to lose weight more than anything in the world, I'm not losing weight. I find that one of the most disempowering phrases on the planet. Because if you really think you're doing everything you possibly could and you're not losing weight, then you become hopeless. What's left to do? You've done everything perfectly and you haven't lost weight, so what else is there to do? But I can tell you after 6,000 private weight loss sessions that when people say they're doing everything they can and not losing weight, I've never once seen that be the truth. There's always extra calories. There's always things they're missing. I've never seen even an exception to it. Not even once. And, or they're eating perfectly. Yeah. For, for a week. I don't know. You can argue me if you want. I. I'm fine. You got Hashimoto's. Okay. It, it doesn't matter. I've worked with everything. Insulin resistance, Hashimoto's obviously type two, you know, thyroid issues, obviously menopause, every version of that. And yes, there's changes that happen, but at the end of the day, your weight really is a reflection of your average calorie consumption over time. And if we don't believe that, I think, what do you believe? What do you believe? Your metabolism's broken. Because if you tell me your metabolism's broken, I'm going to assume you probably don't really know what that means. And again, one thing I always say about the GLP1s that that is probably the thing I think is the best piece of GLP1s, at least for me in my world, is that it proves, once and for all, conclusively, without any shadow of a doubt, that the reason people are overweight is because they're consuming too many calories. Because the GLP1 has taken everyone that's had issues with weight loss their whole lives, and now they're losing weight. Not everyone, but about 70, 80% of them. And why is that? It's because they're reducing their calorie consumption and their weight goes down. People with Hashimoto's, people with thyroid issues, people with type 2 diabetes, all the things, right, all the people with the broken metabolisms, all of a sudden they, they start eating less calories and they start losing weight. So again, you've got to get that in your head. A lot of dieters, unfortunately. I mean, you use it as a defense mechanism, but it's not serving you well to tell yourself, no, I'm really motivated. I want it more than anything, and I'm just not losing weight. I've never seen that be true. You know, I don't say that with any. There's no hate in my heart for it. I'm. I'm judging. I'm trying to shame you, but we. We got to start from a place of honesty and clarity, you know, so. Thanks for writing that, Kip. I appreciate it. Lisa says, you helped me imagine and see myself in my goal weight. Now I'm making choices that won't mess up the body that I have achieved in. In parentheses and quotes. I love that. Lisa, nice job. Screenshot that, yeah. So much a program yourself then is kind of comes out of that. That's one of our favorite techniques, is really to start by imagining yourself as the person you want to be. And that's straight out of the seven habits of Highly Effective people. Start with the end in mind and so, so much of programming yourself. Then it really starts with, who do you want to be? Who do you want to live as? And we start with that identity and from that place, and we build from there, you know, so. That's wonderful, Lisa. Keep it up. Marianne says, I've listened to the hypnosis demo session, and I love the content. Am I supposed to feel like I'm just listening, like a guided meditation? I'm concerned that I may be one of those people that can't be hypnotized. My mind wanders, and I'm trying to pay attention, but I'm reluctant to purchase something just to listen to it and not get any benefits. That's a great question, Marianne. First of all, great job taking action. Okay? I'm super proud of you. It's funny. And I do this shit every day. I've been doing. I've been doing this professionally for over 20 years. I've been doing the podcast for over three years now. Every single day. I said, go get the hypnosis. That's just free. It's free. It's free. It's free, right? A small percentage of people actually go and get it, and even smaller percentage actually listen to it. So great job, Mary. I'm proud of you. That being said, it reminds me of something that I got on my to do list here, which is to explain the hypnosis session better. I don't think I've done a good Enough job with that. And one of the main things I mean by that is that hypnosis has been so mis portrayed that it's hard to understand, like, what to expect when you get a session, you know? So I think some people think they're going to listen to hypnosis sessions, could completely change them into a different person. And that's certainly not the case, you know? So what's the experience of listening to a hypnosis session feel like? Well, the good news is you all know what it feels like, and it feels like hypnosis, which is another way to say that you all know what hypnosis feels like because you all go into hypnotic trances multiple times every single day of your life. And I would say the closest trance you've gone into that feels like a hypnosis session is probably when you're watching TV or a movie, okay? That is a hypnotic trance state. So when you're watching a movie or a TV show, you, like, think about it, right? Your attention's narrowing, right? You're not paying attention to the room or the theater you're in. You're paying attention to what's on the screen and you're imagining whatever you're watching as if you were there vicariously. You might think of yourself as the protagonist, the antagonist, it doesn't matter. You're. You're vividly imagining in your mind what you're watching. That's why we like TV and movies, because we imagine we're watching. We imagine we're in the movie or the TV show and we start having those experiences, okay? So if you watch a horror movie, you have the experience of being nervous, right? You're sitting on your sofa, safe as can be. But you're tense now and you're not breathing and you're. You're. You're tight. You watch a comedy, right? Same environment, but now you put a comedy on, now you're sitting in that place and you're. You're looser and you're laughing, you're breathing more, and there's more of an oxygen change, right? You watch a drama, now you feel sad. You watch a sporting event, now you're literally releasing adrenaline in your body. Okay? So this is literally hypnosis. The environment's the same, but your response is completely different. Okay? So that's what hypnosis sessions feel like. When you're watching tv, you don't feel like you're zoned out, like anyone could just do anything and you wouldn't respond. That's what hypnosis Feels like it's just a state of relaxed, focused attention. And when you listen to a hypnosis session, your mind might wander, you might get distracted by whatever, doesn't matter. You're relaxed, you're calm and you're hearing these words and they're going in. That's the ideal state. So it does feel more like a guided meditation. Yep, it feels very much like that. You're going to relax, you're going to calm down, you're bringing your attention inwards, you're going to breathe more deeply, you're going to feel your mind relax a bit, you're going to feel those ideas and thoughts go in a little bit more. You're going to use your imagination to kind of follow whatever the hypnosis session is saying. So the new thing, me session I give you for free is really a kickstart session. So it's built around the idea that we're going to connect you in a visceral way to how it's going to feel to be at your goal weight as that person of you. So you get to step into how it feels to move that way, to go get clothes that way, to go to a party that way, to show up at work that way. And the more you step into that, the more vivid and visceral it feels and the more excitement you tend to tap into. So that's kind of the secret, Marianne. And one other piece I'll just share with you real quick is I do not believe hypnosis. If, if hypno. I have the number one hypnosis program on the planet for weight loss. It, there's, it's not even a close contest. My program is an eight week program where every single morning you get a five minute hypnosis session, a different one. So ultimately you're getting 57 different mantras and ideas put in your mind. And so you're starting each day like that. Then at night you're listening to the weekly session. Each week you get a core weight loss mantra session and you listen to this one repeatedly. And this is a 10 minute session. So you go a little bit deeper into it and what you're doing is you're bookending your day. And so this goes on for eight weeks. And it's very structured and strategic. And on top of that there's a hypnosis library with another 25 sessions. There's no hypnosis program on the planet like this. Nothing even close. That being said, I will not sell this, this, this program on its own because I do not believe that hypnosis alone is enough for you to live at your goal weight. I do not believe it. I definitely think, and I know this because I've tested this in the past, I have sold this program on its own before and people have told me they've lost. So I know it helps people lose weight, but I don't think there's any way in the world you're gonna be able to live at your goal weight unless you have your own specific blueprint roadmap for how to think, live and eat like a thin, healthy person. Okay, So I think you need a specific plan for how to think, live and eat like a thin, healthy person. How are you gonna do it? So I do think that hypnosis is a great support system to help you do this, but I think, you know, you need to know what to do for you that works for you. And, and I think you need to know how to get yourself to do it. Those are the two key things. So no, in no world do I think you can just listen to hypnosis and then live as a thin, healthy person forever. If I did, I would just release that as the program. I've never seen that work, not consistently. I've certainly seen it work, but not consistently enough for me. What I have found work consistently enough for me is when you take the reins and you figure out how to think, live and eat like a thin, healthy person in your life. And then you learn how to run your own mind. And we do that through the program yourself then method, which really uses the redo rehearsal technique, which is a 60 second mental rehearsal technique you use at night. And you do that to program your mind. And that's really the program in a nutshell, is that you program your mind for 60 seconds at night, you listen to your morning session for five minutes, your nighttime session for 10 minutes, at least a few nights a week. And then you fill out your goal weight blueprint so that that's what this is. And so you do all that. Exactly. So that you don't go into the program thinking you're just going to listen to something and get magical benefits. You're going to figure it out. You're going to become a master of your weight, you're going to become a master of your mindset, your lifestyle. You're reading and there's no. Oh, it didn't, I don't know why, Why'd it work? Did it not work? It didn't work. You know, again, imagine you wanted to play piano, right? You would never get to A phase in piano and say, oh, it doesn't work. No one can play. No, no, you can't. Just doesn't. You can't do that. Right. Because you get to that point, well, you just got to keep practicing. You got to learn something. You're just missing something. You need to practice a little more. And it's the same mindset with program yourself then that really the program's built around figuring out and resolving little different challenges. We all have. And we just. Every day I've been doing this for over 30 years. Every day I'm finding a new challenge to resolve and move forward. And I'm working on it. Using the program yourself then system the approach. And so what happens is you get yourself out of this mindset idea that you're going to do some magical program that's magically going to change you. That's never going to happen. You need to learn how to run your mind, your thoughts and you need to learn what to do, what works for you. None of you know what to do. It's not your fault. Okay. Because dieting, our entire lives, dieting has told us that the answer to your weight loss issue is to change one thing. Right. Whether it's to count points, track calories, stop eating for 16 hours, stop eating carbs, just eat protein. It's just, it's always one thing. And so the diet industry has conditioned us to really expect amazing results from one simple strategy. It never works. So you know, dealing with your weight is, it's a commitment you make and it's a, well, you know, rewarded commitment, I would say. I can't think of anything that's going to serve you better in your life than mastering your weight and your mindset. I can't think of anything that's better than that. Yeah. So yeah. So I hope that helps out. What's up, Connie? I see you there waving sometimes a tick tock. I know. I miss so much stuff it makes me crazy. Oh, Auntie Razzie just ordered it. All right. Yeah. Again, this book is, is available now so you can go to places where books are sold. And that might have got me this, this tick tock algorithm is smart. It lists listening up. So I gotta try and be careful how I talk about this. But thanks, I'm glad you ordered it. And if you like it, please leave a review that is really helping the review. Things are great and they're fun to read. So I guess it's a little looks a little extra benefit. Connie says I'm practicing taking less than listening More. But had to say thank you for your beautiful book. All right. Oh. Talking less and listening more. Nice. Yes. Yes. Well, I'm glad you got it, Connie. Thank you. Yes. This is it. People are loving it. It's just. It's a nice. You know, it was written this way. It's a very nice, gentle approach to thinking and dealing with your weight. That alone, I mean, this book, to me is 100 levels deep. I really will say that. But one of the levels is that here's. Here's a. Here's something for y' all to chew on, is that most people, most dieters, subconsciously you associate tremendous stress and pain to weight loss. You know, so that you're like, okay, I'm gonna lose weight, but really subconsciously, you're thinking, oh, now I gotta deprive myself. Now I gotta do this really hard thing. Oh, now life's boring. Oh, now this sucks. Now it doesn't even work anymore. So it's just failure. So it's all this. You tap into. You don't even realize it. You're like, I'm gonna start losing weight. But deep down, you're just like all this negative shit. And one of the. One of the reasons I wrote this is that you can read this. And this will probably in the first. This. This may be, like the first time in your life type of thing. It's that rare. I'm not saying there aren't. There are. There are some other people that talk about weight in this more gentle way, obviously, but it's very rare. And this book is. One aspect of. It is meant to be. Let's think about your weight in a relaxed, calm way. This is one of the first things I learned as a hypnotist when I opened my office, because I realized, you know, we would always talk for the first half of. Of the session, and then we would do hypnosis the second half. And when we were talking, I was, okay, tell me about your weight. You know, tell me about that. And they would. They would tell me all about it, but they would tell me about it, and I can't do this. And I try this, and this doesn't work, and this doesn't work. And then I lost this, and I put the weight back on, and I feel like a failure. And I don't like this, and I don't like that, and I don't like this, and this didn't work. And. Right. And it's. Oh, my God. So. So negative. No wonder, right? And then. Then we would do some hypnosis stuff. I said, okay, relax, come down. And then we would do that, and then we would talk about hypnosis or we would talk about weight loss. And it was fascinating because now they would talk about differently. Yeah, I want to do this, and I would like this, and this is kind of a challenge, but I'd like to be able to behave this way and I'd love to be able to do this, and if I felt this, it'd be great. And all of a sudden it was like they were more calm, they're more relaxed, and they were things thinking differently and they were coming up with such better stuff. That was the amazing part. That's when I very quickly learned that the quality of our thinking is directly dependent on the state that we're in. And when we're stressed, intense and overwhelmed, we do not think clearly. When we're calm, relaxed and grounded, we think much more clearly. And so we can look at the exact same thing from these two perspectives and have two completely different thought patterns. But what you've been trained to do by the diet industry is every time you think about your weight, you go into a panic, anxiety induced, stressed, guilt ridden, shameful failure state. And you think about your weight from that perspective exclusively. If you're a dieter, you almost, you can't think about your weight in a positive way. It's always negative. It's always about how much you hate being overweight, how hard it is, how much you failed, how difficult it is, how you can't stick with anything, how the food's too much. Test me out. I, I dare you to try it. I, I've done this so much and I work with extremely smart, intelligent people and I say, okay, say something positive, they cannot do it. And you're gonna find this, I know it for a fact. This isn't a question you can't even think about. You couldn't describe to me what you want weight wise in positive terms if you tried. So anyways, one of the points of this book is to allow you to have a relaxed, calm experience while you think about your weight. And for most of you, it's gonna be the first time you've ever done this in your life. Like, like you've never done this. You have never once thought about your weight from a calm, centered perspective. Most of you. And that's another thing this book is meant to do. So thought I'd mention that. Let's get through tick tock here. What? Oh, so the power might go off for me. Oh, hold on one second. Well, all right. Let me wrap this up because. You know, I am going to wrap it up because I, you know, we got solar power and so anyways, they're going to hook up a new meter and they're going to kick me off the, the grid here. So Jay says I listen to your four hour hypnosis while I was sleeping. Don't know if that works when I'm asle. No, it doesn't work when you're sleeping, but it works as you fall asleep. So keep doing that and pay attention. Notice if there's any results and if it's helping you out. But again, yeah, if I want to get this, if you want to get this book, I'll say it now because I got to get out of anyways. But go to Amazon.com you can go to Amazon and go get this. Go to your Amazon, whatever your country is, make sure you go. Because you might just go to Amazon.com make sure you go to your country. Okay. And then you can get this book and you should have it. Most countries are going to get in a day or two. Yes, Amazon. Someone said will the price of the book go down in Canada? Yes, I'm going to. I, I thought I changed the price the other day, but I did, I missed something. So I'm going to change that today and it should be live tomorrow. I'm hoping. They said about 48 hours. So tomorrow or the next day it should go down. So yeah, if you want to wait a day or two, this price should go down. I'm hoping. I'm not even sure what I missed. It was kind of, it's, it's a little weird. But anyways, it is on Kindle. Yes, it's on Kindle and it's, and there's a physical version. Again, I would wait to order it. The Kindle version is going to be 2.99. The physical version is going to be $9.99. All right. And so I'm gonna work on that today, getting that price right. All right. So yeah, again, I thank you all so much. Okay. So, all right, I'm gonna get out of here. And if you're not in my world, make sure you click the link in my bio or you go to program yourself. Then go get the free hypnosis session I give you. It's called the new thingy. It's Kickstart session. Go check it out. If you like this. I'm here every Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern. I'm happy to answer any questions you have and help you lose weight. That's my mission in life. So I am here to help you do that. And if you like to listen this, but you can't make the live, it's also a podcast, so you can search program yourself. Then on any podcast platforms, it'll show up and you can go check it out. And yes, this is the new book too. Is available on Amazon again, I wait a day or two, let me get the price down and then go get it and it should be available. All right. Yeah, definitely should get it. This book is awesome. I think, you know, the reviews are coming in. The reviews are awesome too, so thank you so much. Revenue wrote a review. And if you do get the book and you do like it, please leave me a review. That's great. Even if you don't like it, I guess it even still helps me. So you can, you know, you can burn me in the in the reviews. If you don't like it, let me know. Yeah, Jay says it's a great book too, so. All right, everyone, thank you so much. Have a super day and we'll talk soon. Bye.
