fear of failure

Jim Katsoulis says you only fail if you quit. Effort that misses a goal still builds experience and learning. Extend your timeline and keep going instead of calling it failure.

Fear of failure is one of the biggest reasons people don't take the actions they know they should take. But failure is often just an illusion because you can't fail unless you quit, and you're in control of if you quit or not. So if you think about a time when you put a lot of effort into something but you didn't reach the goal you expected to in the timeframe you expected, you're still much better off than you were than if you hadn't done it at all. Because you've got all that experience now. You've learned new things, you've grown, you've evolved into a better version of yourself, and your ability to reach that goal has improved greatly. The only thing you need to do is give yourself some more time to reach that goal. And that's the important thing to remember that failure is often just some arbitrary timeline we picked. And so if you extend that timeline, you give yourself more time that you may need in order to accomplish that goal.
