Feeling indifferent for food is one of the most powerful tools you have to master your weight. Because when you can feel indifferent about a food that you used to feel out of control, craving for the whole process becomes much, much easier. Now, the important thing to remember is that creating indifference for food is very similar to how we've created desire for food. Because only a small part of that desire for the food is based on the flavor. Most of it is based on the non stop conditioning that we're exposed to through commercials and through the culture. We're constantly being reinforced with these foods. And, and so when we want to feel indifferent to a food, there's a simple set of steps you can take to make that happen. Now, the first thing you want to realize is that when you feel indifferent for a food, there's two steps to it. Physical relaxation and what you're doing mentally. So the first thing you want to do is either get yourself in front of the food that you want to have more control over, or imagine being in front of it. And the first thing you want to do is relax your body, calm down, relax your shoulders, your chest, your stomach, your face, and breathe more slowly and deeper. And now, once you have this physiology, now you can change the mindset and the question becomes, how do you want to feel about this food? Connect to your goals, connect to your highest self. Think about that food and think, what do I want to think and feel about this food? And so if you're imagining that ice cream in front of you, we start thinking beyond just the flavor. How am I going to feel five minutes after I'm done? What impact is it going to have on me physically, mentally and emotionally? If I eat that ice cream, I'm going to feel full, I'm going to feel kind of lethargic, I'm going to feel like I let myself down, I'm going to feel discouraged, and my weight's going to stay the same or go up. And so what we're doing here is we are influencing how we're going to respond and think about that food, and we're going to take control of that. Because right now in this culture, it's being done for us through thousands and thousands of ads every day. And so once you take control of this process, a few minutes of work can create a bunch of indifference for these foods and make the rest of your weight loss path much, much easier.
