A short YouTube monologue (speaker: Jim Katsoulis) that asks viewers to choose an emotion they want to feel in the moment and demonstrates a simple imagery-based technique: recall a past memory where that emotion was felt, re-experience sensory details (sights, sounds, physical sensations), and then bring those feelings into the present. The speaker uses an example of feeling "peaceful" by remembering sitting by a stream and argues this mental practice both changes present feeling and supports achieving life goals.

How would you like to feel? And I mean right now while you're watching this. What's a feeling that you would like to have right now? This is a question we don't ask enough, and I don't know why. Is it because we don't think we can feel something? Because you can. You can imagine yourself into any feeling that you want, and you do it like this. Pick the emotion that you want to feel. I'm just going to pick peaceful. And then you ask the question, have I ever felt that feeling in my life? And you probably have, at least to some degree. So now I'm thinking, what have I felt peaceful? I remember one time I was sitting by this little stream in the woods. It was very peaceful. It was beautiful. And so what I do is I go back into that memory and I visually remember everything. I saw birds, leaves falling, the water flowing. I remember the sounds. The water really sticks out in my mind. The birds singing, the wind. I remember the feeling. It was cool. There's a breeze. It was nice. Watching the water, I felt very relaxed and calm, very centered, very peaceful. Then I bring those feelings in my body now. Well, guess what? I feel more peaceful now. It's not rocket science, but we never ask the question, how do I want to feel? But you can feel what you want to feel when you use your mind properly. And this is a very, very powerful skill. Not only does it feel good, but it helps you achieve the things you want to achieve in life.
