A short YouTube monologue by Jim Katsoulis advising that serious weight loss requires a strong, formal commitment similar to enrolling in college. Katsoulis argues that while information is freely available online, people who only dabble without investing time, money, or structure are likely to quit when difficulty arises; committing resources creates accountability and persistence needed to reach goals.

If you're really serious about losing weight, you should commit to it the same way a person commits to going to college. You know, right now you can pretty much get all the same information online for free that you can get going to college for four years. But think about the difference between those two situations. Someone who just does it for free online, they're kind of just dabbling, and they'll do it as long as it's interesting and not too hard. But as soon as it gets difficult, it's very difficult to maintain because you have no one there supporting you and there's no real structure to what you're doing, as opposed to when you actually enroll in college and you commit your money, you commit your time and your resources, and you say, I'm going to do this until I get the degree. I know, know it's going to be hard, but you're investing in the solution, you're investing in the process. And most people approach their weight loss very much like the dabblers, where it's like you'll try it and you'll do it until it gets too difficult. And so you need to make a bigger commitment to this process to get the results you're truly looking for.
