It's Not The Carbs, It's The Calories

Jim Katsoulis explains why cutting carbs works for weight loss: you're actually cutting calories from refined foods like bread and pizza, not carbs themselves. Whole carbs like fruit and vegetables are fine. He warns against starting with exercise, which triggers hunger and fatigue, and recommends fixing eating habits first.

It's.

And welcome to today's program Yourself, then podcast. Today we're talking about, it's not the carbs, it's the calories. This drives me crazy. I see this all the time in comment sections of videos I make where people say, the calories don't matter. It's all about the carbs. And that is ridiculous. And if you believe that, you're gonna have a hard time losing weight and certainly keeping it off because it's just not accurate. Now, it may seem accurate because you have to understand we live in a country where the number one source of calories is baked goods. So, yes, at first glance, it can seem like the carbs are the problem. And they are a problem. The refined carbs, yes. But at the end of the day, when you cut carbs out of your diet and you start losing weight, it is not because you have cut carbs out. It is because you have reduced your calorie consumption and you've done it through cutting carbs out. Because carbs, refined carbs, Please let me just remind myself to say it every single time. Because carbs are not the problem, they are the solution. Refined carbs are a problem for most people. And refined carbs are typically very calorie dense. When you think about a cookie, cookie's this big, but it could have 200 calories in it. Right? That's what we call a very calorie dense food. It takes up a little bit of space and have tons of calories packed into it. Right? Compared to an apple, which may be this big and have 120 calories in it, you know, and so we have to understand calorie density in order to understand weight loss. And this explains why most people that reduce carbs are going to lose weight, because most people that reduce carbs are reducing refined carbs. Cookies, breads, pizza, high calorie foods. And so they would cut these carbs out. They're simultaneously reducing calorie consumption, and that's why they're losing weight. They are not consuming the same amount of calories, just removing the carbs and replacing it with, you know, fat and protein and losing weight. That's not how it works. And I think you have to understand this or otherwise you're going to be confused. Okay. And once we understand that, then we can move to the next level that carbs are not bad. Refined carbs aren't really bad. Again, it's depending how much you use them. If you consume refined carbs moderately, you'll probably be fine. But we need to make the distinction between refined carbs, flour, baked goods, pizza, breads, things like this, okay? And whole natural carbs that show up in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, right? They're different. And these are very helpful.
You can study the blue zones, right? The areas of the world that had the highest level of oxygen, Aryans, people living to 100 years old, all of them had and consumed high carb diets. The healthiest populations on the planet historically are populations that consume high carb diets.
High carb, low protein too. Let me just take it one more step, okay? So the carbs are not the problem, the refined carbs are the problem. And whole natural carbs are literally what we've been living off of for millions of years as human beings.
It's important to understand this because if you don't understand this, what you're going to do is you're going to rely on protein and saturated fat to fill yourself up. And I'm not here to give you nutritional dietary advice. That's not my job. But it is for me to kind of address common misconceptions that occur when it comes to weight loss. And one of the biggest ones I see is that people become carb phobic. And in their carb phobia, they tend to want to avoid fruits and vegetables because they're so worried about carbs. And I think it's important that you clarify this because once again, the healthiest populations on the planet consist of high carb diets. Whole natural foods is what they're eating. Vegetables, fruits, grains, beans.
So carbs aren't the problem, it is the calories. You know, ultimately when it comes to weight loss, you've got to reduce the calories. And for most people, though, the most easy way to reduce the calories is to start reducing the refined carbs. So I'm just gonna leave it there. Right there. There's your clear cut PSA for the day. And I think it's an important one because otherwise, you know, just let me talk a little bit about this. Let's leave the carb thing to the side for a second, is that at the end of the day, if you're going to master your weight, you've got to clear up the confusion. You can't believe, or you can't have half truths, you can't believe things that are incorrect and expect great results. Right? You can expect confusion. And I think that's where a lot of people are at. And so I think once you understand the reality of weight loss and what to eat, what ends up happening is not only do you feel more confident and hopeful moving forward, you know, during your weight loss, but simultaneously, and I think most importantly is that you are now less at the mercy of the non stop barrage of bullshit in the weight loss world because it's not ending anytime soon. Right? The reason Carnivore exists as a, as a legitimate concept at this point is because it's, it was predated by Atkins Paleo keto, now we're a Carnivore. And you know, again, if you don't understand some of the basics of nutrition and weight loss, then you're gonna be constantly being pulled by all the messages coming at you. And most of the messages coming at you are coming at you because someone's making money off of it. So you need to have some solid ground under you for how you think about your weight loss, your nutrition, your health, so that you can withstand the never ending barrage of bullshit that is dumped over your head every day in this culture. Otherwise you just constantly feel pulled. And you get to the point where you say, I don't even know what to do. Last week they told me to do this and now this week they told me to do this. And when we were in that space, it's very difficult to really move forward consistently, right, because you don't feel like you know what you're doing. You feel pulled and it's very disorienting. So I think it's really important that you start to have a solid ground under you in terms of how you understand nutrition, weight loss. It doesn't take a lot, it really doesn't, you know, and once you have that solid base of knowledge, you can.
Deal with that barrage more effectively. So I will leave you with that. And if you want to go deeper into being able to deal with the barrage of bullshit in this culture, click the link in my bio. Or again, I'll put this link for people on Facebook. I'm going to pop this in here. I am here to answer your questions. Any weight loss questions are welcome. This is what I do every weekday, is hop on here to help people get control over the weight. For me, this is a mission. My mission in life is to help as many people as possible live at their goal weight. And I hop on here to help people do that. So any questions are welcome. I see Jen says, Jen says I just joined a gym. I wanted to start using weight machines. What do you recommend I start with? What would help me get best results. Okay, Jen, great job taking action. Best results, Right. So we gotta dive into that a little bit. Right. What's best results mean? Now, I'm gonna assume, I don't like to assume. You know what they say about assuming. But I'm gonna assume here and feel free to give me more information as I go on here to clarify for me. But I, I'm going to assume when you mention.
What would give me the best results. As you're thinking, what's going to help me lose weight the most is what I'm assuming. I'm assuming you're looking at me and I was saying this guy is an expert in building muscle. I am not. I'm not an expert at that. I am an expert in living at your goal weight, getting to your goal weight and staying there. So assuming that you're asking me what would get me the best results in terms of going to the gym and using machines, which one's going to be the best results for weight loss? Okay. Weight loss and toning up. Okay, great. So in terms of weight loss, in the short term, none of those. And in the long term, mostly none of those machines are really going to get you much results in the way of weight loss. Now let me, I'm going to go into this. I'm going to explain this. Okay? So I'm not just saying this to be shocking. I mean this. And I'm going to explain it in terms of toning up. Yeah, all the machines are going to help you. Right? And so really what it comes down to is what, Val, what muscles do you value more than others? You know, in terms of toning up? And for most of us, that's going to be our arms, our shoulders, Right. The vanity muscles. Okay. So of course, you know, if you want to tone up your arms and shoulders, obviously machines dedicated your arms and shoulders are going to help you more with that. So that part's pretty obvious. You probably know as much as I do about that. You know as much as you need to know that the machines that target the muscles you care about most, those are the muscles, those are machines you should use. So that's for toning up, that's for building muscle. That's for getting stronger. Okay, that's that. And all those machines will help you do that. When it comes to weight loss, the reason I say none of those machines are really going to help you is because typically for most people, what they're going to do when they want to lose weight is they're going to. They're going to start working out as well. And I think this is a big mistake for most people. They want to lose weight and so they're going to dive into working out as well. And for what most people, what is they're going to experience and what's going to happen is they're going to dive into the gym, start working out, and a couple things are going to happen negatively. So I want you to be careful of this, Jen, is they're going to go into the gym, they're going to start working out too hard. And so now what happens is you got to watch out for a thing called the licensing effect. Right. And well, you know what, I'm going to put the license effect aside for a second because there's a couple other things that are experienced. First, if you start going to the gym, I'm going to start going to the gym so I can lose weight. What's going to happen is you're going to put a lot of energy in going to the gym, into working out, getting yourself to do that. And on top of that, it's going to take a lot of energy from you to recover. So it's going to take a lot of energy to get yourself to work out, to do it consistently. It's going to take a lot of willpower, a lot of physical, mental, emotional energy to actually work out. And then it's going to take a lot of physical, mental, emotional energy to recover from that workout. Okay, that's first off. So typically, if you go workout forward approach towards weight loss, what's going to happen, we're going to be dealing with, you're going to be more tired, you're going to get hungrier. Okay. Because understand that when you start working out, you're using more energy, you're depleting your energy, and your body's going to want to cover that, and it's going to send you a hunger signal, okay? So typically, if you put a workout forward approach to weight loss, you're going to be tireder, you're going to be hungrier, and you're going to be sore.
All right? This is not a great thing for when you want to lose weight, okay? And so what ends up happening is you get hungrier, you get more tired, and you're sore, and you also have less willpower because willpower is a finite source of energy. We only have so much willpower. And if you're going to put workout first, you're going to use a lot of that willpower to get yourself to go work out. And so now you're in the situation where you're hungrier, you're more tired, you're sore, and now you have less willpower. And now the licensing effect shows up. What's the licensing effect? The licensing effect is when we do something good, and then we tend to follow it up by doing something bad or not virtuous. And so what happens is we go to the gym and we're so happy we went to the gym. We think, oh, my God, I went to the gym And I burned 600 calories today. And then we go by the bakery, we sell, there's a muffin, that thing's probably 200 calories. I'm still in a deficit. Great, I'll do that. And this is a licensing effect where we start to give ourselves license to eat that little bit extra. Do this because I burn calories now, I went to the gym. So when you put all this together, right, you're hungrier, you're more tired, you're more sore, you have less willpower, and now you've got kind of a justification to eat more. This is why working out is not associated with weight loss in the early stages.
So what I would suggest is go work out lightly in order to start to activate your muscles and get them going, but not too much, because I'd want to save that willpower, that energy, that soreness. I want to save all those things and I want to aim it at my eating. So for me personally, I think you're going to get much better results long term, short term, and long term, I think you're get much better results when you focus most of your energy on changing your eating. You know, there's a saying in the weightlifting world, in the, in the Fitness world, you can out train a bad diet. So statistically, mathematically, it's way easier to say no to a 400 calorie muffin than it is to work out for an hour burning off those calories. Okay? So statistically, mathematically, it's a lot easier to change your reading than to get yourself to work out. Okay? Now again, please understand, I'm not really, I'm not referencing strength toning up, you know, the health benefits of working out, resistance training, all that. I'm putting that to the side. I think that stuff's great. By the way. I'm talking purely about weight loss and I think if you approach your weight loss with this workout forward first approach mindset, it's, it's almost guaranteed to fail. I, I rarely see that working because what I see happening is, is people burning themselves out, you know, and the other thing I didn't mention that comes down the pike almost, almost always for people because you have to understand, again, I don't know the shape you're in, Jen, but a lot of my clients haven't worked out for years and so now all of a sudden they jump into their workout plan. And again, my clients, they're over, overachievers, perfectionist, all the rest of it. So they're going to do it, they're going to do it right. And so the thing that comes down the pike as well to everything else I added or talked about, there is injury, you know, and as soon as you're injured yourself, now you can't keep working out that way. And you know, it's a, it's a downfall. So again, I don't sound, I don't mean to sound negative. I don't, I don't want to do that. But I'm also here not to bullshit you and I'm going to give you the most honest information I can give you from my experience. And I've been doing this for, professionally for over 20 years, personally for over 30 years. So I do have quite a bit experience in this and that's what I see more often than not. Now, if you are a person who always works out and you kind of lapsed for a couple of weeks or maybe even a couple months, and you want to get back to going to the gym the way you did and kind of kick everything back into gear, well, that's a different story. You know, I mean that then you can do that probably because you have, you know what I mean? You have the programming, you have the, you have that lifestyle kind of there, you Know what I mean? In your reality? Somewhat. So again, it depends on you. But for most people, workout forward approach, I do not see it. And I could tell you as a just one example, anecdotal, but for me, over 30 years ago, I dropped 50 pounds and I remember one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I hated working out. Now, you know, it's funny, I'm active and I like playing sports. I love playing basketball and soccer. I love doing stuff. I hated working out with a passion. And I remembered over 30 years ago deciding, I mean, like, oh, if I want to lose weight, I got to go to the gym all the time. I'm like, no, I don't, I don't want to go to the gym. I'm going to build around my strength. And my strength is I'm lazy, I don't want to work out hard. And I was, I'm going to focus on my eating. And on top of that with the eating, I'm like, if I get my eating under control, it won't matter. I'm better set to live at my goal weight long term because now I'm not relying on intense exercise forever because injuries do come, sicknesses, getting older, lack of motivation. There's a lot of things. It's very difficult to maintain a really intense workout routine forever. And please don't take this as me being negative to exercise. And I think it's a great goal. But what I'm saying is that most people, I think, overestimate their ability to exercise and work out and stick with it and ultimately it ends up being something that just blasts through their energy and makes them quick, quicker. So take it, take it for what you will. But that's a great question, Jen. I appreciate that. So, so good luck with your, with your journey. But again, my suggestion to you would be to approach the exercising moderately, take it easy, there's no rush here. And let yourself approach in a comfortable way so that you're not tired, you're not, you'd be a little tired, a little sore, a little hungry. Those are okay. Don't get too sore, too tired. You know what I mean? Don't, don't do it too far. And you should be set up for better success. But yeah, I get that all the time. I think that's a common misconception. And again, it just falls into. When you're a dieter, one thing you've been trained your entire life to think about is that you think about your weight loss in an all or nothing mindset. So weight Loss is always about just going all in on it, right? If you're going to lose weight, you're just doing 100% everything perfect starting that first day. And, you know, I think, you know, and by the way, like, even going 100% on the diet, that that's just gonna. You're gonna burn yourself out there too, probably, you know, so again, there's a lot of ways that we get, we've been trained to think about weight loss so inaccurately, so ineffectively. And a lot of that is again, from the diet industry. The diet industry is not your friend, folks. The diet industry is just a branch of the food industry, you know, so again, it's, you know, these junk food companies aren't going to teach you how to not eat their food and how to eat healthy and not have to deal with weight issues, right? That's not their business. You know, and a lot of people want to talk about. Listen, Weight Watchers was owned by Heinz. You know, they bought Weight Watchers so they could sell their shitty frozen foods to the people in Weight Watchers. That's why they bought it. And so you have to, you know, you've got to look at the motivations and the information you're getting from a company whose main goal is to sell you frozen shitty food, not to make you live at your goal weight forever. You know, Slim Fast was owned by the same company, owns Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Jenny Craig was owned by the same company. No, Ben, Jenny Craig was owned by. I always do this in order. So if I take it out or I can't remember. Weight Watchers owned by Nestle. Jenny Craig was owned by.
The. What am I saying here? I say this a million times. I can't believe this because I said it out of order. We watch his own behind Jenny Craig's own by Nestle. Yeah, there it is. Yeah, Jenny Craig's on my Nestle. If you think Nestle wants you to be thin and healthy. Do you. I always say this, you know, Nestle and Nestle and Heinz are never gonna go and buy a program yourself then and blast it out to the population because their stock would instantly plummet because people be eating less of their, you know, so you got to take that into account. I think, you know what the motivations are or they say. Was that Watergate? Follow the money. I think that holds up pretty good, right? If you want to follow the money to see, like what's really going on. I, I think that's pretty valuable advice in my opinion. But, yeah, any Questions you may have, feel free to ask them. Any weight loss questions are welcome. Mindset lifestyle.
And program yourself thin. What we do here, These rings off my finger.
Hell is it. We follow the goal weight pyramid, right? Just to give you a sense of an alternative, more robust way, I hope.
Of approaching your weight. Right. And so in program yourself then we follow the goal weight pyramid, Mindset lifestyle needing of course, we break those down into categories. And this is the goal weight blueprint, right? So in the program people fill this out, you know, but what you end up having is you have a customized blueprint for how to get to your goal weight and stay there. And again, it includes strategies for mindset lifestyle and eating. And that's half the program is knowing what to do. And the other piece of the program is the program yourself then method, which is how to program your mind, how to run your own mind. And we do that through a real simple 60 second self Hypnosis technique, you know, that shows you how to take control of your mind and you use that at night to reprogram yourself. So there you go. But again, there's a little bit more to it than, you know, just me telling you what to eat. It doesn't work. Well, that's a Shannon. Shannon says I agree with exercise. Not the sole answer. It's not. And I just think that, you know, if you believe that, again, it just, it's one more thing that goes to. I was just talking about that at the beginning. It's not the, it's not the carbs, it's the calories. And I can't believe the people I have to argue with online about this. You know why I cut my carbs down? I started watching my carbs and I lost weight. It's 100. The carbs, not the calories. And I said no, you know what I mean? Well, I started watching my carbs and I lost weight. Well, what do you think happened when you start watching your carbs? Because carbs for most people's refined carbs. So yeah, you start, you start eating less cookies and pizzas and breads. Yeah, there's a lot of calories in that. So your calories went down. It's not that the carbs went down and magically made you lose weight. It's that the calories went down, you know, so anyways.
There'S so much misinformation out there and what it does is it leads to people just feeling confused and it can. That's what they want, by the way. That's the goal. Because the More confused you are, the less likely you are to take action. You know, a confused mind is a stuck mind. So part of the confusion you feel when it comes to weight loss is extremely intentional. You know, it's put there on purpose because it keeps you stuck, you know, and that's the goal.
Shan says, I agree, that corporate America does not want us to stop eating their junk. Yeah, of course. I mean, it's like, listen, you know how much money, you know how much the economy is built around the shitty food we eat, the weight loss products to deal with that weight issue from eating all that shitty food, and then the health issues from eating all that shitty food. You know what I mean? Like, like it's a. I, I've never gotten like a specific number, but I, in my mind it's got to be, it's got to be a quarter of the economy. I, I don't know. Am I crazy in that? I don't know. What do you think, like, in terms of like. And I'm talking about like, like food, processed food, right? Junk food, fast food, processed food, chain restaurants, you know, all these comet frozen food, you know, I mean, like all that food, right? That's one economic center, the diets and weight loss industry, which I know that one's $65 billion. I'm sure it's growing now with the pharmaceuticals. I can't even imagine what that number's up to. And then the medical. And again, that's a. Skirts the line between them too, with the pharmaceuticals and the GLP1s. But again, it's all the same people profiting off of you, all of, all of us in some degree, but with the weight, you know, if you're struggling with your weight. And I say this, this way, you know, I saw a great study and it's really, it's so interesting. They did a study, and this was with obese people. So it was with people that were, were overweight by quite a bit. And what they did is they split them into two groups. And in one group, they, they kind of had a supported diet program. So they let them pick whichever diet plan they want to do. And they actually had support throughout the program with that following that diet. And the other group, what they did is they basically taught them, you know, about food, about the food industry, about the diet industry. They taught them about kind of a peek behind the curtain, if you will. And it was fascinating because the group that was learning about the reality of the food industry got better results than the people getting support following a diet. And I find that fascinating. And I do think that.
I find that very true for me and my clients. What I've noticed, and that's why I talk a lot about the kind of behind the scenes stuff, because it changes the way you think about the food. And I think ultimately, if you're going to change your weight, that's what you got to do. You've got to change the way you think about food. See, as a dieter, you just assume you're always going to just love and crave these foods. And the thing that's going to be different is you're going to use your willpower to fight against that and stop yourself from eating them. But real change in terms of your weight long term is not about your willpower and fighting against yourself. It's about changing the way that you think about the food. And one of the best ways to change the way you think about the food is to realize. I'll give you. I'll do it right now. Okay. I'm going to put an idea in your mind that probably was not there until I said it. Okay. And that idea, going along with the same idea, is that the food industry, the processed food industry, the food, you have such warm and fuzzy feelings for when you see them on the store shelves and eat them. Those companies, that industry is a branch of the cigarette industry. Yeah, right. You didn't think I was going there. Come on, admit it. And so when you think about your favorite foods and you think about cigarette companies, admit you think about them very differently. Right? You think about the cigarette companies, you got nothing but disdain and contempt for them. You think about the food industry and you got warm, fuzzy feelings for them. They're literally the same company. When I say literally, I. I mean literally, literally. Nabisco and RJR Reynolds are the same company. They're merged together. They're the same company. RJR Reynolds with the cigarettes, the ciggies, Nabisco with the cigarette, the food. Cigarettes. Right. The parent company of Kraft and General Foods, two of the biggest food companies on the planet. Who's the parent company, though? Philip Morris. So I think it's important to understand that your food that you have such warm fuzzies for is run by the same people, that their specialty is making the most addictive product possible, use the most aggressive marketing they can come up with, and then sitting on the science of how bad it is for you as much as possible. And so they took their specialty of doing that with cigarettes and brought it right into the food, and they did it right around 1980 is when a lot of that started happening. And coincidentally, that's when the obesity epidemic blew up. Right? Basically from 1980 on, give or take. And, you know, there we are. And so once you start to realize this, and once you start to realize this food with its happy horseshit packaging around it, it's just fancy packaging. It's. It's food, cigarettes, it's cheap, shitty products built to trick your mind and your body and make you overweight and unhealthy and unhappy. Sorry. You know, but if you start thinking of food that way, don't you think you're gonna eat differently, have different cravings? You know, so your mindset's the most important thing with your weight. And.
I don't know.
I go crazy with this. I was talking about this just today because I'm reading this book, diets, Drugs and Dopamine. I'm having a real hard time with it. It's very good and there's a lot of good information. I don't like the general tone.
You know, but. But it reveals a bigger problem in my opinion. This guy's brilliant. I mean, he's a medical doctor. He was the head of the fda. Okay. I mean, this is a smart man. At the same time, he had a weight issue that he didn't know how to deal with. And so he writes these books and I love the end of over reading one of my favorite books ever. But at the same time, he never referenced his mindset once as far as I can tell. Maybe it's in the later chapters. I'm not done with the book yet, but I ain't expecting that. Now listen, you don't become head of the FDA by being an outside the box thinker either. So again, I, I have no problems. You know, I mean, people walk their path fine, but what the. Are you really gonna talk to me about weight loss and not think mindset matters at all? Are you really? You're gonna go and approach your weight loss and change your reading and how you're living and we're not even going to talk about mindset? You don't think your mindset matters at all? And that's the part that drives me crazy. And so he's got his 400 page book researched. You know, he's talked to every weight loss physician and every pharmaceutical company on the planet. Is there anything about mindset in here? Or is that too woo woo? Is that too little weird? You and your mindsets? Is that what we're doing in 2025? Acting like mindset doesn't matter. I don't know. I mean, I've been doing this for over 30 years, so I'm used to being the weird one, and I'm fine with that. But I really don't understand how in the normal world we're going to approach weight loss and not have anything to do with mindset. Because when you look at your weight loss and your attempts to lose it, is it not always the same story that you're doing great until you're not doing great? What's the change there? What's the difference when you're following your plan perfectly and then when all of a sudden you just quit it and it just fades away? Same you, same knowledge. So what's the difference there? And I would bet if you look at it, it's your mindset changes. You're fired up and motivated one day, and the next day you feel discouraged and frustrated. You don't want to go on. What's the point? Who cares? Is that not your story? Is that not everyone's story? And yet we never talk about it. And that's the weight loss industry. That's the diet industry in a nutshell. They're always telling you what to do, always. 5 million plans, 5 million diets, 5 million tactics of how to lose weight, and never like. And I mean literally never. I bet you can't even tell me a real program that's going to help you actually work on your mindset to manage your weight. I dare you, I dare anyone to tell me a program that works on your mindset to help you lose weight. Please don't say noom Just because we teach you a little bit of psychology is not dealing with your mindset. Okay? So go ahead, tell me a program you've even heard. I don't care if you've done it. Just name a program that helps you deal with your mindset so that you can manage your weight better. And I know you're not going to be able to say, I ask this question all the time. So if you. If you say something that actually is true, I'd be shocked. So I'm expecting no answers. But I want that to really stick in your head because it comes up with a real important point that if you don't even know a thing that would teach you mindset. And if you do think that, yeah, my mindset is kind of important, actually.
Then I want you to reflect on the fact that if you haven't lost weight, it's not because you know what to do and you just have to get yourself to do it. It's that you literally don't know what to do. You don't know how to manage your mindset. And if you have no idea how to manage your mindset then you have no idea how to manage your weight. And so it's not a personal shortcoming that you've haven't lost the weight. It's a knowledge gap. You're missing out on the knowledge of how to transform your mindset again and program yourself. And even the word mindset, I know I say the word mindset people have a general sense of what that means. But in program yourself then we break it down into six specific categories. Six, six specific areas. Motivation, self image, emotions.
Blanked about it. Motivation, self image, habits, emotions, thinking and maintenance. And we break down those six areas and we talk about it how to have the proper mindset in those six areas.
Do you know any of those things? Do you know how to motivate yourself? Do you know how your self image identity impact your weight? Do you know how to deal with your habits strategically, systematically you using neuros scientifically backed strategies? Do you know how to deal with your emotions genuinely without having rely on food? Do you know how to think like a thin healthy person? Do you know how to maintain when things get tough? How do you keep going? Do you have answers to any of those questions? Because if you don't, what are you doing? Well I'll tell you what you're doing. Just kind of winging it. You're saying I don't need that Jim. That happy, I don't need that. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it. Is that what you believe? Do you believe the only thing between you and your weight is you need to be told what to do? Because if that's true then how do you explain the last 20 years, 30 years you've been told what to do. A bunch of times you tried to do that a bunch of times. How many times you've been able to stick with it?
Never. So you know again I don't want to sound like an here. I'm saying this because I want this to be inspiring to you. I want you to realize the main reason you struggle with your weight is not because you have no willpower, no self control or because you're an addict of food. And it's not that. It's that you literally have no knowledge, you don't know how to run your mind and so you feel this sense that your mind's sabotaging you. It's not you just haven't learned how to run it. Anyways, what's up, Sherry? Sherry says hi. Jim, it's the big food. Cabal. Yes, that's the word I was looking for. Is this cabal? Cabal. Thank you. Yes, exactly. A cabal. That's what it is. And I got cool stuff coming. I'm so excited as I was, I was saying someone today, I'm wrapping up some big ass projects. One's this book which I thought I was going to fit. I'm so funny. I, I love that I do this to myself. 50 years old, I still do that. I think I'm gonna finish something in a week and it takes me two more months. But anyways, the book is, is almost got that final. And I really mean this this time. I know I always say this, but literally I've gone for the final draft where I read through it. I didn't change anything. I said, oh, thank God. So I can't wait till that book comes out. But that's been a big thing and a bunch of stuff. But I got some fun stuff coming out too. One of them I gotta, I'll put it in circle too. But I'll put up on my Facebook page as well. But it's so funny to me. I, I, I made, I'll get to this later. I got some questions coming through, so I'll get to those. But anyways, yes, cabal and yes, there's cabals all around us and they're influencing us. Melancholy Green. The goal of all corporate America is to make repeat customers who are uninformed and believe they're dumb. Yes, absolutely right. Fast food, delivered food, pharmaceutical companies, even clothing manufacturers. If they can keep you dependent and blind, then they've succeeded. Yeah, I agree. You know, I don't sit here and sound like a conspiracy theorist, but listen, it's a war here. You know what I mean? Like you gotta, you gotta bone up or die. And then I say that, hold on, let me back that up. I, I came to this because my father died of a heart attack at 54. I was nine years old. Defining trauma in my life. So for me, weight loss is not just you looking better in your genes. Do you understand that? The reason I'm so passionate about this, the reason I get on here every single day for free, is because this is a mission for me. This is literally life and death. Just like if someone, you know, if someone. I'm not gonna say the words because I'll get banned on these social medias, but my point is to Say that if someone I loved had passed away due to substance abuse, you would expect them to be really, you know, kind of upset with substances probably, right? So for me, that's my aim. When I look at the food, listen, I enjoy food as much as everyone, but I also have this, I understand the dark side of it, that literally when we talk about an obesity epidemic, what does that mean? What it means is beautiful, wonderful people living less lives in two ways. One is they live literally less lives, they die earlier, and number two, they let's live, live less lives because their quality of life goes down quicker. And so this is, this is as serious as anything can be. And yet we've been lulled into this false sense of let's just food. It's no man, it's literally what you eat consistently in your life is probably statistically going to be the number one factor for how long you're alive.
And what you eat consistently, the number one thing that's going to dictate your day to day quality of life from now until that last day. Is that not true? Do you not believe that? I do, I believe it. That's why I'm so passionate about this. So if you think of it that way, and now we look at the companies that are coming at you, the companies that are coming at you and the people you love to make them live less longer, to make you live less longer, to ruin your quality of life.
And it doesn't have to be, oh, I'm morbidly obese and now I can't move and go up downstairs. That's not the only quality of life. You don't think your quality life's being fucking affected now? Are you not thinking about your weight 24 hours a day? Do you not feel bad about yourself because of your weight? All the time it's right now it's happening. Do you understand? It's like this is why I'm the way I am with this stuff. Because it's like they've done this thing where they've just, it's just this.
Things come right over us. It's like this layer, this shitty energy right over all of us. And we're just, they've affected how we think about it. So we don't even think it's a big deal anymore. We just accepted it. We just accept, as we get older we're gonna become type 2 diabetic. You know what I mean? Like we, we have all these shitty, accept, you know, assumptions and expectations that have been implanted there by these companies. We Just, I guess that's getting older. I guess that's what it means. That's bullshit. It's bullshit. You know, and so we have to realize that a lot of these corporate interests, you know, I mean, there's aiming just like the cigarette companies. I'll just keep it real simple. The food companies are, are literally the cigarette companies. They don't give a about your health. They don't give a about you, your loved ones, none of it. All they want to do is make money. And so you got to see it for what it is. You know what I mean? You got to see it for what it is if you're gonna have any chance of really freeing yourself of it, in my opinion. All right, yeah. Melancholy goes on. Take away people's autonomy and you can sell them anything. Make people believe they're not smart enough to take care of themselves. Bingo. I could write forever on this. I hate it so much. I agree, Melancholy, and you should. I think that's very inspiring, what you're writing. I, I really, I, I think that same way. And I am gonna have a book on this. I can't wait. It's my, my third book, so I've got. The first book's pretty much finished. The second book's 80 in the hopper, and the third one's going to be my magnum opus. I cannot wait. My second one's really gonna be the big one. But I can't wait to write the third book. I'm so excited about it. But anyways, goes on. Mindset versus mind control. Mindset's all me. Advertising is mind control. All industry, including fitness and diet is mind control. Keep people confused. It's a lucrative forever plan. Agreed, agreed, agreed, agreed. I just agree. And I think when you feel that constant. Because that's what dieters live in, this perpetual state of. Oh, well, I don't know what. What? I know what to do. Oh, they told me to do that. And it's just you're always getting ready to start, you know what I mean? You're always upset with yourself. You're never getting forward. I don't know. It's just, it sucks. And it doesn't have to be that way. That's my main point, Right? St. Lee says program yourself then. Yes, sir. That is the one program. I'm not gonna lie, like, literally. I, I know there's some other ones out there. I see them, but I study them too. And there's. I, I again. Listen, folks, I am the. I don't know what I am. I'm A unique being, and I am. So the path I've been able to walk is just fantastic to me. I. I'm the luckiest person you will probably ever see. I genuinely identify as one of the luckiest people on the planet. And one of those things is just what happened to me in my life. I'll just give you a quick version. Over 30 years ago, I was 50 pounds heavier. I took a semester off from college. I was binge drinking all the time. I was in a bad spot, okay? And I took a semester off. And magically in my life, within a month or two, all these magical things fell in my life. Neuro, linguistic programming, Tony Robbins, hypnosis, personal development, yoga, guitar, martial arts, meditation. All of these. All of these things fell into my life. It was just, again, no fault of my own. Just pure dumb luck. And I'll never. I'll never take that for granted now. They fell in my lap and I grabbed onto them. I was just smitten. Smitten like a kitten. I love this stuff because it was the rope I used to pull myself out of the hole. And yes, I dropped 50 pounds. But more importantly, as I transformed from the inside out into the person I am today. And so that's part of why I'm here. I mean, this is my way of kind of paying it back. I just feel so lucky that I was exposed to these things because you never hear this stuff. I was just talking about this. Even with someone, even in psychology and therapy, you know, it's. I think they miss a lot of the key stuff, personally, whatever. But anyways, it's been a hard path in a lot of ways, the path I've walked, but wouldn't trade it for the world because it's what's brought me to this, you know, And I think this is a very unique approach to dealing with your weight. Right from the beginning, right from the goal I set for my clients and for myself, our main goal is not to lose weight. There's the first step for you to step off the diet path. Stop thinking your goal is to lose weight. It is not. Because I know you've lost weight in the past somewhere. Are you happy you lost weight, or are you upset that you put it back on? You're upset you put it back on. That reveals the truth that you don't want to just lose weight. You want to live at your goal weight. That distinction is the one that frees you more than anything else. Because as soon as you shift your focus from losing weight to living at your goal weight, Everything changes because the strategies you lose to lose weight as fast as you can are completely different than the strategies and the mindset you use to live at your goal weight forever and your entire life. This is the curse we have all been grown, born under is that we were all born in the early days of mass media. And dieting is very interesting because dieting coincided right, with mass media. And so it's really interesting is dieting is basically a get rich quick scheme right now, you know, get rich quick schemes are, but you know, they're. Because you have something to compare them to. We see get rich quick schemes within the context of most people are going to go go to college or go do some training or learn how to provide value and they get compensated for it. That's the traditional way of earning income, making money. And then we have our get rich quick schemes over here and people recognize them within context as being bullshit. Okay, dieting is bullshit. It's the get rich quick scheme that doesn't work. But the difference is we have never been giving a legitimate option for how to deal with this. And it's not just mass media, by the way, it's dieting, mass media, and the food companies and what they've done. So what happens is, long story short, is that the only way you can think about weight loss at this point, if you're an American, is you think about surgery, injections, or dieting. That is it. That is it. There's no other options. There's no mindset option. There's no option for living at my goal weight. There's no option for getting my mindset, lifestyle and eating plan customized to me so that I can live it for the rest of my life and live at my goal weight comfortably, easily, enjoyably, on near autopilot. You've never used those words in your life. Why not? Don't they feel better? Isn't that more accurate to what you want? I'm not a genius, folks. And so I do not think that I'm some genius who came up with this. I think I'm just someone who's looked at this slightly differently. And that's why the value I do believe that I bring to this whole thing is, is that I don't exist in the system because the system is. You notice it, right? It always flows in the same direction. So right now, if you're focusing on weight loss, you're listening to podcasts, watching influencers. I bet you're thinking about protein. Yeah, you think about protein a lot lately, right? Bet you're Thinking about intermittent fasting and fasting procedures and protocols. Why? Because that's what you get shoved down your throat in that world. So, you know, and before that, you know what I mean? What was it? Carbs. Right? Before that it was low fat. Before that it was something else. It's always going to be something else. And all of them follow in line, get good people. I'm not playing. I think a lot of these influencers have good hearts and mean good stuff. But listen, it all follows the money. And the money is from the protein the money's becoming, from the supplements and from the, you know, GLP1s and stuff I get every single day. People reach out to me to promote bullshit. I can't tell you the money you can make doing this, you know? I mean, like, again, I'm. I'm fine. I make plenty of money doing what I do. But I could make way more if all of a sudden I want to start promoting supplements and all the bullshit they come out with the natural GLP1s and all this bullshit, you know, But I'm never going to do that. I'm not going to do that to you. Hey, I don't even take any supplements. I'm not saying they're good or bad. I don't know. They're not my part of the world. What I'm gonna. What you're gonna hear me saying now, what you're gonna hear me saying in 20 years, 40 years, 60 years, is, let's get your mindset lifestyle and eating right, and let's learn how to run your mind. And I'll be saying the exact same thing in 40 years. And I won't be selling you supplements, I won't be selling you equipment, I won't be selling you, you know, genetically testing things so you can figure out the perfect diet. I'm not gonna say any of this, and that's part of why I can be honest with you. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for most other influencers. And again, I don't think they have ill intentions. I think they just subconsciously are influenced to promote things where there's money. And the money right now is protein supplements, powders, pills, bullshit. You know what I mean? And again, there's a million things, but that's the big one. And so the. The information follows the money in most of the things you're hearing when it comes to weight loss. And this is why you're so confused, because it doesn't come from a pure place. Be honest, mine does. Mine comes from as Pure as it can be. My everything I share with you, honestly, comes from me wanting to save my father. In a nutshell, the most purest place it could be. I want you to live as long as you can, have the best quality life you can possibly have in your life. It's the most purest of intentions that you can have. And so I think that's what leads me to have a different strategy and approach, because, again, I ain't a genius. You know what I mean? It. You know? You know, But I've been able to figure this out. And I think it's because I'm asking different questions. And so that's why, again, I hear people regularly saying, you know, like. Like you're. You're saying things I never hear. That makes so much sense, you know? Again, it's not because they're the most brilliant things. It's not they're confusing concepts. It's because it is common sense. But we've been trained to think bullshit. We've been trained to literally, like, honestly, I say this all the time. I am a hypnotist by trade, and I thought I was going to hypnotize people to lose weight. I did not realize my career would primarily be waking people out of.
That's the reality of it, though, because most people are walking around in a diet trance, in a food trance. It's snapping them out of it, showing them a better way, you know, that's kind of how I think of it. What's up, Deanna? Diana says Jim's the real deal. Just changing your goal in your mind is game changing. Yes. Thank you. Deanna's the real deal, too. Yeah, she's a superstar, dealing with a lot. And again, you know, managing what's coming at you in the way, you got to handle it when you're handling it, you know. But I appreciate that, Deanna. Thank you. Stacey Lee says 60 pounds, 67 pounds lost Weight Watchers gained it back plus one.
Oh, boy. Yeah. I'm sorry, Stacy. Again, that sucks that you. You people that have done that, people that have lost weight and put it back on, are literally my number one motivation for being on here. Because I have so much compassion and empathy for you, because I know your. You're a person who's willing to take action. You know what I mean? Like. Like people that are willing to put the work in and do the work. You deserve a better approach, you know, And I feel like you've been so screwed more than anyone else pretty much by the diet industry and that that's the. Literally, that's the part that gets me on here every day because I know you're willing to do the work. And so if you're given better information, I know you can get better results, you know, but most people think dieting is the only way, and so they think, well, the answer is, I just need to try the diet harder, you know, that's not the answer, I promise you. Okay, so I'm sorry to deal with Stacy, but hopefully you can realize that that's not the complete answer for you and seek out a better, more complete answer so that you can not only lose the 67 pounds, but you can live there for the rest of your life. All right, Janet says, ready to learn, Ready for setting myself up for success. Thank you for being a passionate teacher who gets it. Thank you, Janet. I appreciate those words, and I do. Again, no one gives you more free stuff than I do, too. So just as a quick note, if you're not in my world, make sure that you click the link that I put in the comments at Facebook and in my bio at TikTok. You can click there and click a link. I give you a free hypnosis session. I got a bunch of free stuff. So I say I give you a hypnosis, but I actually got a bunch of free stuff. And the coolest thing is that is it going to happen this week? Maybe this week, maybe next week, but there's even going to be a whole free. I use a circle community. I have a community for my clients. And this. I use the Circle app and there's gonna be a whole free section there, and I got a bunch of free stuff in there for you. So again, I. I take a lot of pride in the fact that I. I don't know anyone that gives you more free stuff than I do. And basically what I'm giving you is an entire program. It's called the PYT Spark. And so it's really designed to get you fired up and motivated and take those first steps, you know what I mean? Towards really, again, thinking like a thin, healthy person and taking steps to make that happen and make it a reality. So, anyways, yeah, Anyone has any questions, feel free to ask them. Tik Tok. I apologize other areas, but I am here. I am live. Tik Tok. People always think I'm not live. What's up? Kent Ken says when I trying to create consistency, I set the goal for something I can still do on a bad day. Kent Ken always pops in here with the. With the wisdom. Kent's in the program and just took it to, like, a. Like a duct of water here. I love that, Kent. That's. That's a beautiful way to phrase it. And I agree 1,000%. And I do exactly the same thing when I'm looking to do something. Like I'm looking to install a habit. I give myself flexibility. So let's just say I want to start doing yoga every day. I'm not just going to be like, I'm going to do an hour yoga every day. Right. That may be my goal. But I'm also going to have a plan and B and C as well. Right. So if I'm not feeling like doing an hour, I'll do 50 minutes. I don't feel like doing 50 minutes. I'll do two minutes, you know, so. Agreed. Ken. I think it's beautiful way to frame it that. Set a goal for something you can do on a bad day. I think that's how you succeed again and program yourself. Then we do the 1% philosophy. We're looking at 1% better every day because that's a comfortable way to get better. That's not overwhelming, and it gets you fantastic results. It's, again, what most people think, oh, I'll get 365% better, which is amazing. But no, because each percent improves on the percents before it, and so it ends up happening mathematically as you improve over a 3,000%. So, again, the math of it doesn't make sense in our brains because we don't understand statistics well. But the truth is that getting 1% better a day is the real golden path to success. And it brings up the quote that I always remember and like to share with you all, is that most people overestimate how much weight they can lose in a month and underestimate how much weight they can lose in a year. So don't make that mistake. All right? Then it says, this is the reason I trust you. You could be selling. Trying to sell all kinds of stuff. Yes.
Yeah. And Deanna says even if you want to try medication or whatever, do this program first, you can change the way you think about things. Absolutely. I agree with that. And again, I'm not here to, you know, put down the medicines. I'm not. Again, I think there's a time and a place for the GLP ones. But again, ultimately, at the end of the day, you know, you're gonna have to change your mindset to some degree, you know, So I appreciate that, Deanna. Y2K says I'm losing weight, but I hate My stomach, and it gets me really depressed and unmotivated. Any advice? Yes, I do. And I get that. And that's a common thing, you know, so let's talk about it. Let's not hide from that, okay? Because for a lot of people, you know, you have to understand that the diet world has convinced you that, you know, once you get to your goal weight, everything's gonna be like a fairy tale. Everything's gonna be amazing. But the reality is, you know, you'll lose the weight, get to your goal weight, and there'll still be parts of your body you won't like. That's a real thing. And so it has to happen. Y2K's. You have to ask yourself, this is what I would do anyways, is I would ask myself.
Am I going to stay overweight also? So again, when you're, when you don't lose weight, when you're at your higher weight, how do you feel about your stomach? Okay? And then when you start to lose weight, how do you feel your stomach? Okay. And so now you got to look at both of those realities and ask yourself the question, is it still worth it for me to lose weight even though I may always hate my stomach?
That's the question I would want to ask. Because what you need to do or not to. Again, there's no right or wrong answer here. Please let me make that clear. You might say, listen, if my stomach's never going to look the way I want, I don't give a shit about my weight. And fine, then, now you're congruent. You can go live your life, okay? Or you can say, eh, I wish my stomach looked different. I wish it was, you know, different, but I'm still going to lose weight because it's healthier. I, I still look better in my clothes, I still feel better out in the world, blah, blah, blah, blah. Whatever your reasons may be, but you've got to come up with other reasons other than that. Because what you're saying is you're living in this kind of delusion, which is like, I want to lose the weight so my stomach looks great. But then you're, as you lose weight, you're like, oh, my stomach's not looking great. So we got to acknowledge that, accept that, and start from that point, okay? Even if my stomach doesn't look the way I want, am I willing to stick with this and lose weight? Do I still want to lose weight? Is there still any motivation? Or was that my only motivation? If it was, then say, that's not going to happen. And I don't give a. You know, again, be honest with yourself. And that's probably where I would start with that question. And that is common. You know, most people have to do that.
So. Yeah, just another one. I'm down £110 now. Listening to you. Hey. Oh, all right. Holy. Just another one. That's amazing. Great job. Oh.
Oh, there we go. We got a screenshot of that. Nice job. Just another one. Proud of you. Keep it up, mackerel.
Oh, and just another one. Mindset was the biggest factor in it. Thank you. Thank you. I gotta do it. That's another thing I have planned. I will say one of the things I'm kind of. I got so much cool stuff. I'm telling you folks, like, I got really cool stuff. I know I say that all the time, but I really do. It's. It's. It's fun stuff too. So I'm excited. I've got a lot of the really heavy lifting things I want to do this year. I've really spent that. I'm still be working on this book, but even this book, I'm kind of chilling out because I got this new book coming out and I'm going to focus on it for a while. In the meantime, I'm going to be working on the second book. More I've been putting a lot because I want to go on to get the book done. And this book now that I'm working on, well, I still got to finish the first book. I'm almost done with it. But the second book, I have no rush for that. I want to get it done by next spring, but I'm going to slow it down. So it's going to free me up to do other stuff. And I got so much cool things coming that are just fun. And one of them, like I said, I'm going to put it out today. And I think it's funny. So it's more entertaining stuff. And that's what I'm really excited about kind of putting out there. I got some fun, entertaining things. But anyways, one of the things I plan on doing is, you know, everything I share with you pretty much is things that I've learned from other people, people that have successfully lost weight and kept it off. That's where I started my journey and that's where I continue it to this day. And I think that's another thing that really separates me from a lot of the weight loss world is that I'm not just talking about how to lose weight quickly. I'm Talking about how to live there. And I learned all of this from people that have actually done it. And that's one of the things I'm thinking about doing as well, is beginning to interview people that have lost weight and kept it off for at least a couple years and doing interview series with them. So you can all watch that because you're gonna hear them all say the exact same stuff I'm saying to you. That's why I'm saying these things to you, you know, so anyways, but great job. Just another one because again, mindset. It's always mindset.
And Y2K, you weren't, you weren't blocked. Obviously I see your comments, but I was just on the other side of it.
Yeah, that's why. I don't know, sometimes I should just stream to Tick Tock through.
Restream. That'd be kind of nice. Mc, stop going to the grocery store. It's 80 sugar. Agreed. Agreed. There's so much sugar and stuff at the grocery store. It's just crazy. I mean, you really. One thing, I don't know if you all do it, but you have to. Yeah. Oh, someone said they can't see the comments I'm reading. Yeah, I'm restreaming. I'm on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and tick Tock. And so Tick Tock, you can't see the other comments. So that. Those are the comments I'm reading, by the way, from other places.
So, yeah, so I'm back to Tick Tock. And that's why I'm answering the questions there. And I forgot what I was just saying before that.
Yeah, the grocery store. Yes, it's mostly sugar. You have to, you have to train yourself, folks that most of the food that's packaged has sugar in it. Just make that your default setting, you know, does it always know higher power athletics. And what are you promoting now?
Promoting anything. I'd like to see what food Jim eats. Jim eats a lot of whole natural foods. I mean, you know, I, I eat, I eat everything. You know what I mean? But, but primarily my core foods that I eat, I'll get. I'll tell you through Monday through Friday. My breakfast is the same. I'll eat Ezekiel toast with natural peanut butter, apple with some peanut butter. For lunch, I'll have a giant salad, has mixed greens, baby greens in it, carrots, celery, onion, peppers.
Hard boiled egg whites, maybe a little bit of blue cheese crumbles, high quality blue cheese, tomatoes, radishes, you know, I'll eat that. It's a giant Salad dinner, you know, is usually. Usually, I don't know, it could be grains, vegetables, whole foods.
A lot of beans. You know, kind of that stuff.
Higher power athletic says, you want to change your body. Start eating healthy and working out. Well, thanks for that.
Imagine if someone, like, came here and they're like, I don't know how to change my body. I don't know what to do. And then they see that and they're like, oh, I just need to. Oh, I changed my eating and I work out. Oh, my God.
All of a sudden, the clouds clear it. Oh, my God. You know, everyone knows that no one can get themselves to do it. That's the problem.
Says, love your heart, man. You've been suffering and experienced it yourself. That's your amount. Thank you, Gene. I appreciate that. Yes. The focus shouldn't be on just losing weight. Agreed. Agreed. I think you gotta. You gotta extend past just losing weight. Agreed. Hypnosis is scary to me. No, it's not. Because the truth is we've all experienced hypnosis. We all have hypnotic brains. And every time you watch a movie or a TV show, you're in a state of hypnosis. Anytime you've driven long distances, you're in a state of hypnosis half that time. So hypnosis is not something that you're going to experience. It's something you've experienced thousands and thousands of times. You have a hypnotic brain that ops into hypnosis constantly. So the difference is traditional. You know, hypnosis, led hypnosis. If you're in a room with someone, they're doing this to you. It feels weird, you know, and that's probably your bigger thing. But everyone experiences hypnosis constantly. Again, back to the movie, right? That's probably the most hypnotic state. Think about it, right? Your attention is absorbed in the screen. You're living vicariously through the characters. So much so, and this is the hypnosis part, that if you're watching a horror movie, you're sitting in the theater, tense and nervous, your adrenaline's releasing, your heartbeat's racing. You know what I mean? Think about that, though. That's crazy, right? Because you're. You're safe, you're fine. You're in a theater, you're totally fine. If you're watching a comedy, be laughing out. A totally different physiology, right? But because you're watching a horror movie, your brain is putting you into that scenario, and you're responding as if it were real. That's crazy. I don't know if anyone realizes that. So the power of your mind is legit, you know? You ever watch sports on TV and you just all, like, worked up why your ass is sitting on the sofa. What are you worked up about? You ain't in the game, right? But you have an experience. So we have mirror neurons. So again, our subconscious mind makes our imagination real. That's hypnosis. So don't be scared of it. You know, it's something we've all experienced.
Moby says allergic to eggs. What's another option? Are you vegan? I'm not vegan. I'm vegan. Ish. I would say. I don't really consume much dairy or cheese. I do have some of the blue cheese, which I consider a little bit different than typical cheese, but whatever. And I don't eat much of that, so I don't really eat much cheese. Don't drink milk. I do eat egg whites pretty much every day. I'll eat a couple egg yolks and the whole egg a couple times a week. Like two, three eggs a week maybe. So I am vegan. Ish. Absolutely. I'm pescatarian technically, so I don't eat land animals. I do eat fish and clams here and there, but that's primarily my diet. Very, very whole, natural, whole food. I'd love to see some recipe videos or what I eat in a day videos, food ideas. Yeah, that's a great idea too. And I definitely. That's something I've want and that's what I mean as well. I'm really excited. I got a lot. I got a whole different kind of content plan queuing up here. And I think you're all gonna love it. I think it's gonna be, you know, entertaining, informational, interesting. I think it's gonna be really good. And so part of that, though is gonna be a lot more cooking. I really realized one of my biggest videos I ever made was my salad video. And I just realized that's a big part what's coming through. You know what I realized? I'll give you a little hint. And you know, we got through most of the questions here. Yeah.
Well, let me get the Jen here. I see Jen's got. Good question. Took the time to type this whole thing out. So let me answer this. Was that my goal, Wait for a year and move to different state. Got the flu and lost taste and smell, started chasing flavor was up 25. But thanks to you, I'm back to working on mindset what matters. Can't wait for your book. Awesome, Jen. Yeah, that's great. And you know, listen, that's completely understandable. And this is something I think most dieters never think about because dieting is sold to assist this idea that you're going to get to your goal weight and then you're just there, you know. So they sell us the idea like you're getting to a destination and then it's all done and it's very subconscious, but you start to frame your weight loss as like getting there and then I'm there. And that's not true. Your weight loss is a never ending. I frame managing your weight like surfing, you always have to be engaged, right? If you're surfing, you have to constantly be engaged because the waves constantly changing and transforming and so is your life, like you said, you know what I mean? Like everything was going great and you had everything kind of dialed in and then all of a sudden you get the flu and you lose taste and smell. All of a sudden you're moving and things are different and environment has a huge impact on our eating, you know. So again, living at your goal weight's a complete different thing. And part of what we do is we focus on realizing that things change. And so what you're doing to manage your weight has to be adaptable and flexible too, to be able to adapt and, you know, adjust to the situation at hand. So I always say, you know.
14 years ago now, I put 25 pounds on. That was the most weight I've put on in 30 years, you know, but let's take a step back. What was going on? I was having a new baby, right? And he didn't sleep at all. He's a shitty sleeper, right? Almost colicky. We moved into a new house that we completely redid. I was running a business, you know, so all of a sudden life just got like cranked up. The stress and the tiredness and all this other stuff. And so yeah, it showed up in my eating and ultimately my weight. That doesn't make me a failure. Didn't mean I forget stuff. It just means kind of life got a hold of me for a little while. That's no big deal. And I think we need to normalize that because I think what happens for a lot of people is they lose the weight and then again they already. If you're a dieter, you go into that just expecting or put the weight on and absolutely terrified of that happening, which is a problem of itself. But then all of a sudden life changes. I can't tell you the number of people I've worked with where all of a sudden like A new job starts or they move or they get a new relationship. That's a fundamental shift in your reality. Like when you change a job, all of a sudden your whole schedule starts to change, and so you need to kind of readapt what you've been doing for the new situation. And sometimes it takes a little bit of time and whatever, so that's completely normal. And so I'm proud of you, Jen. I'm more proud of you for putting the weight on and then kind of figuring it out and working back on it than if you hadn't lost the weight or hadn't gained the weight at all. I'm proud of you for going through that and really kind of ending up a better version of yourself, a stronger, more powerful version of yourself who feels more confident and is able to manage your goal weight more effectively. I think that's wonderful. So great job, Jen, and keep it up. Okay? And I can't wait for you to get my book. I am so excited about this book. I don't even want to talk about it because I'm so excited about it. I don't want, like, to get it out there and people like, this sucks. What were you talking about? Because right now I'm just like, this book is awesome. I, I, I can't wait. And I'm in the final phases. This week's kind of got a hold of me. So this, I'm trying to grab the next two days back and get the final pieces done, which are really kind of design stuff, get those things dialed in, because the second that's dialed in, boom, you know, it's gonna be available on Amazon, and I can't wait for you all to get it. So.
Okay. Dcts, yeah, Would love to see some recipe videos or what I would eat in a day. I'll take a second to just talk about some of those things because some of the things I'm planning on doing more cooking videos. So I'll show you how to prepare things. Because what I realized is you never really get. I don't know, maybe I'm not the biggest on recipe, so maybe I'm wrong when I say this, but very rarely do you get cooking videos for things that are just.
Healthy, normal, natural foods. Right. A lot of the cooking stuff is like, it's really good, but it's not so good for you, you know, and, or it's good for you, but it's 10,000 steps. So I want to show you how I eat, because the way I eat, I am lazy as hell when it comes to cooking, I'm as lazy as it gets. And I like cooking. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I like to put the time aside and cook and enjoy it, okay? But more often than not, I am eating and I'm eating what's there because I don't want to spend a lot of time cooking and worrying about that. So. But I want to eat healthy. So I have a lot of fast healthy foods that I eat that I have in my repertoire of foods. And I think a lot of people have an absence of that, that just nothing's there. So that's going to be a big part of what I'm putting more recipes, more foods. But along with that, one of the things that I'm so excited for this because it makes me laugh is that one of the things I'm going to start doing is making ads for fruits, vegetables and healthy food right now. You say, what? What does that mean? I'll give you an example because I just made one. I'm going to post this. So if you're on Face, if you're on my Facebook group, go check it out. I don't think I'm posting on TikTok because it's just an image, but maybe I'll do it there too. Oh, maybe I will. Actually, I haven't posted like an image thing to Tick Tock, so maybe I'll do that little explanation. Long story short, it's I, I told AI, I said make a, make an ad for an apple, but make it in the style of like an over the top ridiculous perfume ad. You know, like perfume ads, like the most ridiculous, dramatic, crazy ads. Right? Because my point is this, that the marketing for food is so ubiquitous. It's just, it's been part of your life since you were born that you can't even recognize anymore. And so part of my goal is to make you recognize the ridiculous bullshit that advertisers have linked to their products that have nothing to do with them. Pavlovian training, conditioning. And the other side is to realize you've got none of that for healthy whole foods. It's been quite the opposite. And so my goal is to make. They're kind of funny, I think, because I made one. I got to show I'm going to tell you what it is. I think it's so funny though. What, what we, we kind of came up because again, the way I use AI, it's not just like you give it something, just spit something, you kind of, you go back and forth. But I think it's so funny to me. And I think it makes the point that if you start seeing real, healthy, whole foods marketed the way that, like, fast food or junk food or sodas are marketed, it's going to change the way you think about it, even though you don't think it should. Because we're humans, and although we think we're really smart, we're not as smart as we think we are. We're very much like Pavlov's dogs, and we're just very influenceable in ways that we don't recognize. And so these ads are going to help you do it. And I'm just curious to see what you all think about them and the impact they'll have. I'm just fascinated by it. So, anyways, that's another thing that's coming down the pike. But I got a lot of cool ideas coming down. I can't wait to start doing them. So they're super exciting to me. So, anyways, all right, I'm gonna get out of here. If. If you're not in my world, please go click the link in my bio or the link in the comments section. Go get that free hypnosis session. Go listen to. It's 10 minutes long, and it's called the New Thin Me. It's a kickstart session. I give you a bunch of free stuff beyond that as well. All things that kind of help you get kickstarted. One of the things I was just sending out is my goal weight quiz. I'll send a link out that for a little bit later today, too. So if you opt in today, I'll go get that link. I'll send it out tonight. And it's a quiz I put together to help you decide the right goal weight. Because even starting there, most likely you don't even have the right goal weight and don't even know how to pick it. So there you go. I help you with that. That's free as well. So go, go get that stuff again. You know, it cost you nothing except 30 seconds of your time and potentially it could change the world. I. For you, I. I just literally, before I get on here, one of my clients posted they were celebrating because they just got to their goal weight, you know, so again, who knows? You got nothing to lose here, you know, that's why I give you a bunch of free stuff, because I want you to test this out. You know, I'm not saying this process works for everyone. You know, nothing does. But for the right people, it works magically and you deserve it. You know, What? I mean, if you've been struggling with your weight for decades, who knows, maybe this could resolve the struggle for you, you know, and change the whole quality of your life. So, again, you'll never know unless you take some action. All right, so check that out. And the other thing is that I'm here every Monday through Fridays. You're around noon Eastern, so pop in here and ask questions if you got any. I am, literally, I'm all yours. So I'm here to help you out. Any questions you have about weight loss, please let me, let me take a swing at it. Let me see if I can move you forward a little bit. You know, I. I believe I'll be able to. So check me out. If you're here live and if you can't make the lives and you like listening to this, you can go to any podcast platform and search program yourself then and it'll pop up and you can listen to this whenever you like. All right. Because I usually post these up as soon as they're done. So every day around by 2 o', clock, the new ones put up there so you can check those out, listen to them. All right, everyone, have a super duper day and we will talk soon. Bye.
