Welcome to today's program yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about losing weight when you're not motivated, right? What do you do when you don't feel motivated? You're just not into it. You don't want to eat the right stuff, you want to eat the wrong stuff. And. But you still want to lose weight. Okay? And so I think that you've got to figure this out, right? Because at the end of the day, you're going to feel this a lot, right? It's going to take a little while to lose weight, most likely for you. And you have to understand that from the beginning to the end, where your goal is, you're going to go through these periods of time where you're just not feeling it. Very common, very normal, very natural. Because the alternative. The alternative would be that, again, I don't know, it depends how much weight you want to lose, obviously. But I mean, this is most likely going to be a 3 to 12 month. Let's just say. I'm just ballparking, obviously, can go a lot longer, a little bit shorter. Let's just say 3 to 12 months to lose the weight. Right. More accurately is probably six to 24 months for a lot of people. Regardless, whatever time period we're talking about, even if it was just three months, the idea that you're just going to be straight, motivated for three straight months is silly. Okay? You're just not. Not going to be. Maybe if you, you know, retired, quit your job, you know, stop taking care of your responsibilities and just focused on weight, maybe, maybe then you could. Maybe. But that's probably not the situation you're in. The situation you're in is probably. You're working, you're probably taking, you know, care of kids or people. You have responsibilities in your life and you've got to serve all these responsibilities, and on top of that, you're going to try and lose weight. Okay? So we have to understand in that situation, of course, you know, when you first start out, you might be fired up and motivated and ready to go 100 miles an hour, but at some point your motivation is going to dip. Maybe it's just because your energy dips, but something's going to happen where you're not as motivated as you are in the beginning. And I know, I can almost feel the pit in your stomach, like, just so don't say that. Don't say that, Jim. Don't say that. This is so negative. It's like you don't want to think about it. It's Such a weird thing about dieters that this idea that they, they just don't want to face this reality. Your motivation is not like this constant thing that just, you know, your first day you start way up here and then you just stay there. Like, that's just not what happens. That's never happened to you. It's never happened anyone, you know. So once you can accept the fact that your motivation's gonna fluctuate, that's normal. You're a living human being. Okay, so your motivation is going to fluctuate. So what do you do when it goes down? What do you do? Most people have no answer for this and they just hope it doesn't happen or they hope they can lose the weight before that happens, which is almost worse, because then the motivation goes down. Once you've lost the way, then you put the weight back on, it's just as bad. Okay, so what do you do? You got to have some strategy for when your motivation goes down. And it's going to go down. I don't care. Even if you know how to motivate yourself and then program yourself themselves, we have a whole section on how to motivate yourself at a high level. Great.
Again, you could be motivated a high level, but they're just, they're going to be times where you are not feeling it as much. And again, it could be an energy thing, it could be you're sick, it could be your health, it could be responsibilities, it could be all sorts of things. So what do you do? What do you do? First step is realizing that happens. Second step is coming up with strategies ahead of time. Because when the times come when you start to get unmotivated, they don't tend to live in a vacuum. Right? So when you get unmotivated, a lot of times, what's going on? What's triggering the lack of motivation or the decrease in motivation? A lot of times it's because your energy has to go somewhere else. So all of a sudden you got some other life responsibility kind of popped in and that's taking up your energy and focus. You know, work got crazy, you have to get a new job, you're moving your relationship issues, whatever, and now all of a sudden the energy is going into those things and it's being pulled away from your weight completely normal. So if we're ready for that situation, though, you're gonna have a much better chance of riding that out because that's what you have to do. You have to be able to ride out the times in your life when the Motivation or the energy dips. Okay, now again, the good news is that when you have a strategy for this, it's not that difficult. What I want you to appreciate though is that you've never had a strategy for when your motivation goes down a little bit. I know that already. I don't know you when I know this. And so you have to understand that what you've been trying to do is just, you know, gas down, full on the pedal, 100 miles an hour straight the whole time. That's been your approach and it's a short term approach. Okay? So what we want to do is we want to understand that if you have a strategy going into these times when you're not motivated, you're much more likely to get through them. So what's the main strategy? It's easy. So that's why I've been kind of holding it back for me a little bit, because it's really simple. That the hard part is that you've never thought about it. That's the, that's the problem. The actual strategy itself or how to get through, you know, weaker motivation times is, is not a big deal. What do you do? You lower your expectations, you ease off a little bit, you stop being all or nothing. You start being all or something. And you are able to live in the gray space. So for example, let's just say now I'm going to take this to extreme. Let's just say, you know, you say I'm going to eat 1800 calories, I'm gonna cut my calories down to 1800. Usually you eat 3000 calories, you come down to 1800 and that's what you're doing. And you do that for a month, right? And you're losing some weight and everything's going fine, but then all of a sudden life kind of comes at you or for whatever reason, just feeling off. What most people are going to do is they're going to try and keep it at the 1800 and they'll do that for a couple days and then they get overwhelmed and they finally just quit. I just can't deal with this right now. And then they go back up to 3,000, what I'm telling you. And psychologically it's like one of the hardest things because you've been conditioned your whole life to think like a dieter in all or nothing terms. But the answer is so simp it's to. In this example, if you're down at 1800 calories, you start at 3000. Let's kick it up to 2,520, 600. Well, I'm not gonna lose as much weight. What do you mean? Because the other. The other thing I just told you about. Yeah. You lost weight doing that, but now you're in the phase where it's hard to keep it up. And because you can't adjust what you're doing, you just go back to the 3,000 calories. You just quit. And so this living in the gray space, for a lot of people, it is almost harder for them to kick the calories up to 2,500 calories than it is to just quit and completely go into ignore mode. I hope you hear what I'm saying. Because psychologically, I think this is one of the most important factors of mastering your weight, is that you've been conditioned and trained your whole life to think like a dieter, to approach weight loss like a dieter. And so it's all or nothing. And if you're not going 100 miles an hour right at your goal, you start to feel, what's the point? And you quit. And then you just go back to what you're doing and put the weight all on. Okay? So the real secret to losing weight when you're not feeling motivated is to reduce your expectations. So let's just say I'm just throwing out numbers here. I'm not saying these numbers work real. I just want to give context to what I'm saying. Let's just say you go from 3000 calories to 1800 calories for a month, and let's just say you're losing, on average, two pounds a week. Okay? And so you're eight pounds down, and you're happy about the eight pounds down, but life's coming at you, you know, and you're just like, it's hard for you to keep the 800 calories right now. Now, most dieters are gonna be really tense and anxious and nervous that they're gonna fall off track, and then they're gonna fall off track a hundred percent. So what I'm saying to you is, in that moment, saying, I'm gonna kick my calories up to 2,500 for right now, because that's gonna be a little bit easier. And most dieters are gonna say no to that. Why? Because now they're gonna say, but now I'm only gonna lose a pound a week. But wouldn't you rather lose a pound than put a pound or two on every week? Because what I'm saying is, if you just think black or white, you're going to be married to this 1800 calories. And as soon as life comes at you, you don't feel as motivated all of a sudden. You're not going to do the 1800 calories. You can go back to the 3000 calories.
But a dieter, in their mind, when they're at 1800, they don't want to let go of that. And they, they will fight tooth and nail. They will not raise it up to 2,500 calories, even if that's the more appropriate thing to do in that situation. So I want you to really think about this because it is, this is a mindset piece that is having such a huge impact on your weight because you have no flexibility. You have no ability to kind of meet reality where it's at. You go into your diet assuming that every day is going to feel like the first day and it's not. You're going to have ups and downs, your motivation is going to fade sometimes, your focus is going to fade sometimes. That's natural. And in those situations, you want to be able to have the ability to, to vary up what you're doing, to have some flexibility. And if you can start bringing flexibility into those times now, all of a sudden, here's the magic. You don't need as much motivation, which is really important because you're not always going to have access to the same level of motivation. So you need to be able to adjust what you're doing so that it's easier, it's easier to cut, it's easier to consume 2,500 calories in a day than 1800 if you're used to 3,000. I mean, that goes without saying. It's obvious, right? And so when your motivation goes down, though, your success is not completely built around the idea that you always have to push yourself hard, that you always have to, you know, keep on fighting a hundred percent. It's just not true. And you can't do that anyways. So again, what I'm suggesting is you start to gain some flexibility that, yeah, fine, start out. You're motivated, excited, everything in life's kind of working with you. Fine, knock yourself out, cut your calories down, do everything perfectly. Great again, all or something. There's still an all phase. But when the motivation starts to fade a little bit, what you want to do is be able to adjust what you're doing to again, because the motivation should be equal to what action you're expecting yourself to take. So listen, if your motivation's way up here, great. Take action up here, fine. But when your Motivation dips down here and you're unable to get it back up here and it's here. It makes no sense to hold your action up here. And that's what most dieters do and that's why most dieters ultimately quit. But if you can lower your action down to here to meet that level of motivation, you may not get the results you were getting up here, but you're getting way better results than if you go all the way down to nothing. So I hope that makes sense. I'm going to leave you with that. Christmas and New Year's. I do, I said a lot, I feel like I said that somewhat recently, but this week feels like that. Yeah, right around the Fourth of July feels like that too. But this week, definitely it's kind of like this liminal space in time where it's like it's not Labor Day, so it's like the fall hasn't really kicked off. I'm kind of still in summer technically, but it's kind of feeling they do. But I love it. I love these times here. So anyways, so I know my point is that a lot of people don't think about weight during this period of time, typically. But if you're all here thinking about weight, any questions you may have, feel free to ask them. That's what I'm here for. What's up, Chilenga? Hello from Cyprus. Yes, here to answer your questions, whatever they may be.
Anything about weight says if we buy clothes that we really like in a smaller size, do you think it helps as a motivation if you buy clothes you really like, a smaller size? Does it help with motivation? You know, I want to preface this by saying there's no right or wrong, there's only what works for you. I've seen that strategy work for some people and sabotage others. So I wish I could just give you a simple clear cut answer, but I take the no Bullshit oath. And I just tell you what I've seen, and I think it's important to recognize that too, because I think so much of weight loss is built around this idea that a strategy that works for one person to work for everyone, and that's so not true. And I think it really ignores. One of the core pieces of what we're doing here is that you need to figure out a way that works for you. You need to customize a one size fits one solution to what it is you're doing. Okay. And so if you go buy a nice outfit in a smaller size and it motivates you, great, then it works. If you go and do that and it discourages you, then that doesn't work for you. And I know that's probably very unsatisfying, I get that. But that, that would be the truth. I've seen. So, yeah, I've just, I've seen it work both ways. And so I can't say, you know, I don't know for you if it'd work or not. You know, there's so many factors and they don't even necessarily allow me to predict it at more accurately. But, you know, there's a question of how small did you buy the clothes, how far away is it? When's the last time you've been wearing that size clothes? Do you really want to wear those clothes? That's a little bit of a deeper question, but it's an important one. So there's just a lot of factors. But I will say this, I will tell you this though, that I can answer is that ultimately the clothes you wear, how you look, is almost never going to be enough motivation for you. And I know you think it's going to be. I know that. I know that. I know every person thinks that because you think about wanting to look better all day and night. So it's like it's constantly an idea in your mind is that you're thinking about how you want to look better, so you think it should be motivating, you know, but it's not. I mean, you think about losing weight all the time and looking better all the time, and if it's not working, then it's not motivating enough for you, you know? So again, what I'm always reminding people of is that usually the real motivation that really moves people in the right direction is the motivation that's more based on intrinsic motivation. So how you look is what we refer to as extrinsic. Extrinsic. You need other people in the world to say, holy, look at you. Look at that outfit. Oh my God, look how much weight you lost. Oh, you look great. Right? That's what most people's motivation is built around. All right? And it's just not enough. I know you think it's enough, but it's not. I mean, again, if you're not losing weight, it's not enough. Motivation. Motivation is just very clear, simple definition. Definition, don't go mixing it all up. Well, no, I really want to lose weight. Who gives a shit? You're either doing this stuff to lose weight or you're not. It's real clear cut and simple. And if you're not, it's because you're not really motivated. So what are we doing? Let's not give, let's not try and create new meanings for words, right? We already know what motivation means. And so don't confuse yourself by thinking you're really motivated when you're not. There's a big mistake people make sometimes. But anyways, what I think you really want to add, again, wanting to look better is great. I'm not saying don't want to look better. You should if that's important to you. But what I'm saying is you should absolutely be adding in that your weight is probably potentially the number one thing that's going to dictate how long you're alive for.
What you're putting and shoveling into your mouth day after day after day for the next 10, 20, 30, 40 years potentially is probably gonna have the biggest impact on how long you're alive on earth as a human being living as you. So I hope you know what I mean. Like, like I hope that matters to you. And if that doesn't really matter, I'm gonna die anyways. Those are the worst year. Okay, okay, fine. But the other thing that's the number one factor in pretty much in my opinion is what you're putting into your mouth consistently is gonna have the biggest impact on your quality of life. Just your day to day reality. What you think, what you feel, what you do, how you feel physically, mentally, emotionally, you don't think that how you eat consistently, your weight, your health is going to be the biggest impact on your quality of life as you get older. Like, huh. Now again, a lot of people just kind of overlook that and just don't really think about it because you're conditioned to think about how you look. But I think when you start to make your motivation built around literally your longevity and quality of life, I think that's the secret to really tapping into a much deeper motivation. And, you know, it takes a little bit more than just that, but. But that's the stuff I would focus on, you know, and then test out the smaller outfit and see if that helps for you as well. So, Christy, Christie says, I'm very aware of my triggers for drifting. Will hypnosis help with that?
Like, hypnosis could definitely help with that. Like, there's no doubt that it could help in the short term with that. Potentially, it's possible it wouldn't help at all. Okay. But what's really going to help with your triggers is the self hypnosis. Now, listen, you're all self hypnotist, folks. You're constantly hypnotizing yourself. We're all our own best or worst hypnotist because we're all in our head talking to ourselves all day and night. So there's no avoiding this. We are all our own best or worst hypnotist. If you're a human being, that's the case. All right? And so to you, Christy, I would much say you are absolutely aware of your triggers. That's fine. But you are not aware of the solutions to those triggers.
So I'm going to suggest that while you may be very aware of the triggers for your drifting, you have no real solutions. Once you're aware of that trigger firing off, you just basically go into a trance, right? So here we go. Here's Christy saying, I'm very aware of the triggers for my drifting. So Christie's going through the day, and all of a sudden, trigger fires off and she's, oh, that's a trigger for drifting. Here I go. Okay, that's hypnosis, folks. You've all experienced this, right? How many times have you started the day? So that's. I'm gonna eat really well, then I'm gonna start my weight loss plan. I'm gonna do this. Okay? And some point along the way, maybe it's lunch time. You see the cookies. Oh, it. And you eat the cookies. Okay, but tell me that's not your story over and over again that you. You have. I'm not eating the cookies. I'm not getting ice cream. I'm not going to eat the pizza. I'm not gonna do this. I'm not gonna do that. Okay, great. And then you get in the situation. What do you do? You eat it. You see, folks, we are hypnotic beings. So yes, Christy, hypnosis is absolutely crucial for your success, but not in the way you think. It's not me giving you sessions and putting stuff in your mind, that's going to be the primary thing that fixes your weight. It's helpful. Okay. It's probably the most powerful supplement to the process that you could have. So me, you know, my hypnosis session.
That are in the program, having me in your rear, helping you relax, calm down, putting good ideas in your mind, helping you give the mindset of a thin, healthy person. Really, really helpful. But the most powerful piece of the program is you learning how to run your own mind, which what we call the program yourself, then technique, the rehearsal technique, and you learn how to run your own mind because it is you and how you're running your own mind that is the number one thing affecting your weight at this point. And I think it's really important that you understand that that's the key part of program yourself. Then you got to know what to do, and you need to be able to get yourself to do it. So, for example, right now, Christie's in a position that most people are in. I'm aware of my triggers. I'm aware of what the problem is and what you do all the time. You say, what the hell's wrong with me? I know. I know when I get in an argument with my husband or I know when I get stressed from work, I know that's leads me to overeat. What's wrong with me? How come I keep doing that? That's what most. Most of my people right now, who are my clients. My clients are overthinkers. And so they sit there constantly obsessing on what the problem is. Why do I keep doing this? Why do I keep eating every time I get an argument with my husband? Why do I keep eating every time, you know, I get stuck in traffic? And you get obsessed with thinking about that question. But you have to understand that that question is focused on the problem. There's no solution there. The real answer for Christy is, what do I. Oh, okay, I see what this trigger is. You know, when I get caught in traffic, it triggers me. When I get home, I start eating great. You know that? What's the solution? First thing you notice is you have no solution. If you have no solution. When you take a step back and think about, if you have no solution, how would you ever solve anything? Do you understand what I'm saying? Like, what do you just spontaneously encompass? Well, I just won't eat it. You have to understand, not eating something is not a solution. Can I make that straight? Right. So let's just say I'm gonna Stick with the same example. Let's just say you get stuck in traffic and that gets you all worked up and you go home, you start eating, okay? So then you say, well, the answer is, I want to lose weight, so I'm gonna get stuck in traffic, I'm gonna go home, and I'm not gonna eat. But that's not a solution because the food, the eating was serving a purpose. It was calming you down. And so what most dieters do is they get rid of the behavior that's calming them down, and they never replace it with a new behavior to calm themselves down. And so now, yeah, they stopped eating for the day, but they're stressed out the gills. Okay, so the answer is, what's a real solution? You know, solution might be, oh, when I get home, oh, Christ, you know, I'm getting stuck in traffic most days when I get home, I'm going to take a nap for 10 minutes, I'm going to go for a walk for a few minutes, I'm going to lay in the hammock. I mean, again, it's up to you what your situation is and what works for you. But you need to first start coming up with real strategies and solutions. That's the first step. So again, program yourself. Then we got the goal weight blueprint, which is so awesome, by the way. I cannot wait. What's the date? I just got the delivery date. Let me see when I'm gonna get this because I'm gonna show you it all. Oh, I knew it the third. There was some shenanigans, so I knew it was going to get pushed back. So I'm gonna get. I get the workbooks delivered to me on the 3rd of September, and then I can start mailing them out. Like I said, I'm gonna send out the link if you all want to get it. So they'll be ready to go. The day I get them, they'll be mailed out. But anyways, anyways, so the goal weight blueprint is what. What do you do? Right? So, for example, there's a section on habits, right? And so let's just say I drive home and then I get. Go to the pantry and just start eating. Let's just say, okay, that's a real bad habit. I want to work on it. So I'm programming myself. Then we, we look at that habit, but we come up with a solution, a real genuine solution that not only you stop eating, but more importantly, you calm yourself down or you entertain yourself or you. Again, there's a lot of reasons why People eat, but we figure those out. And once you know what it is, then you program it in with the program yourself then technique, and they both work together. You need to know what to do and you need to know how to get yourself to do it, in my opinion. And then the hypnosis sessions are really like support. So anyways, hope that makes sense.
Yeah. Christy says, I even talked to myself, like, here goes and the spiral begins. Yeah, exactly, Christy. Yeah. So again, you're, you're in a huge advantage, Christie, because you actually have quite a bit of awareness of what's going on. But awareness isn't enough because like you said, you talk to yourself and if you listen to what you actually say to yourself and you think about it as hypnosis, right? Like if you literally listen to the words you say, you're going to say things like, oh, here I go again. Oh, here I go. I'm going to go to the cookies, I'm going to eat all the cookies, I'm going to eat all the ice cream again. Oh, here I go. And you say mean things to yourself and you basically narrate yourself right down the problem path. Okay. And so Christy says, solutions. Do you mean like box breathing? Potentially? Box breathing could be a solution. Okay. So again, to figure out a solution, we need to figure out what the problem is. And the problem is not the eating, folks. The eating is typically a symptom of a deeper problem, right? So let's just say emotional eating just as a catch all, okay? So if you have any emotional eating issues, which you all do, okay? But if you have an emotional eating issue, the emotional eating is not the problem. It's a symptom of the deeper problem. And the deeper problem is that you're experiencing emotions you don't know how to handle genuinely without food. So just for example, you get stressed. That's a very common one. Okay? So you're a stress eater. Let's just say now stress eating is not the problem. It's a symptom of a deeper problem that you don't know how to relax yourself naturally. And so you use food to give yourself some relaxation. And food does relax you A, it distracts you from whatever was stressing you out. You're shifting your focus to the food now, so that instantly has a relieving effect. Then you start eating the food and that has a kind of pain, relieving, relaxing effect while you're eating it. Okay? So it's serving a purpose. And so what most people do is, I'm going to stop Eating. Well, yeah, you stopped eating, but you also stopped the relaxation. And so we need to figure out, how can I relax myself without food? Box breathing is a great example, but we'd want to build on that, too. And then we want to install that. But, yeah, that's kind of an example, Christie. But there's a little bit more to it in the sense that it's not just box breathing, because again, what. A lot of times if I just said, oh, yeah, just box breathe, what'll happen is your mind's going to go in there and it's going to. You're going to try box breathing if you even remember, which you probably won't remember anyways, but let's just say, you know, you get in a situation, you're stressed, and you say, oh, right. Box breathe. Let me do that. Right. And you will. You will seline a box breathe. And then that part of your mind, that strong self critic you just mentioned, that strong self critics. I say box breathing. Give me a break. Get out of here with the box free. That's not going to work. And you won't even try it, okay? And even if you try to do it, you're gonna have. That voice is so strong in your mind, say, no, it's not gonna work. This is stupid. Let's just eat something. So that's the big thing we got to work on, is, yeah, we all have a negative voice in our head. Okay? You're not. You're never gonna get rid of that self critic. You're never gonna get rid of the negative voice. It never goes away. I know people get very upset when I say that, but I'm here to tell you it doesn't go away, which is fine. You can still lose weight. I still have a very negative voice in my head. It's still the first voice on the scene. So you do not need to get rid of your negative voice in order to get control of your weight and your behaviors. What you need to do is you need to develop a supportive, encouraging voice. And so I have the negative voices first on the scene all the time, but I have a coaching supportive voice that pops in a second later. And that voice is the one I listen to most of the time, so hope that makes sense.
What's up, Mari? Mari says I feel I'm not getting the best out of the PYT program. I do the morning hypnosis sometimes nightly. Can you advise, please? What else would be good? I'm on my home straight. About 18 pounds to go till goal. Weight lost. 58 pounds so far. Nice job, Mari.
Well, I mean, the best thing, I mean, the morning hypnosis are great, and the nightly ones are great too. Um, but the main thing I'd be focusing on is, is the blueprint and the program yourself in technique. So, I mean, that's really the program. You know what I mean? Again, you got to think of the hypnosis as like a supplement to it, a powerful one. Okay, but yeah, Mari, it's, it's really about what are the behaviors that are keeping you 18 pounds heavier? That's what we want to figure out. So again, I mean, even if you skip the mindset and lifestyle sections, which I wouldn't suggest, but whatever, I would go to the eating blueprint, and I would start looking at your reading, and I would figure out the habits that are responsible for keeping the extra 18 pounds on, and then I would go to work on resolving, resolving those habits one at a time until I got down to my goal weight. That makes sense. It ain't just the hypnosis program, though. I can't stress that enough. I mean, listen, I sold the hypnosis program by itself last year, and I stopped because it's just not enough. And I'm not going to bullshit people. I could sell the shit out of that program. It's the number one hypnosis program on the planet. But unfortunately, just hypnosis alone is not going to allow you to live at your goal weight. You, you've got to have, you've got to have a real strategy, and you've got to know how to run your mind. And that's my opinion anyways. So, yeah, that's what I'd suggest, Mari.
But yeah, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask them.
Let's see.
Tick tock. Sometimes I miss these questions, too. So if I miss your questions, I apologize. It just scoots right past them sometimes. Gigi says it makes so much sense, it drives me crazy.
Says it's like you're inside my head. Lol. I know, I know that. I really am. I, I mean, this is what I do. And I would say, honestly, like, I, I, I probably know what you're thinking more than you know what you're thinking. You know what I mean? I've really been doing this for so long, and they're just straight patterns, you know what I mean? To do it. Mari says, thanks, Jim. I'll try and arrange a blueprint printout. Perhaps easier to read than on my phone. Oh, yeah, Mari, now, again. Wait, wait. Like, one day I, I have A. It's all. I just got it redesigned, and so I'm going to upload the PDF today. I was going to get a Google Docs. I had done a Google Doc version of it because I thought it was cool to be able to use it. The formatting on that is a little weird on the phone. I guess I'm just gonna have to deal with that. Like, you just won't be able to use the Google Docs version on the phone is where I'm gonna go. I. I've. I've talked to a couple different people, and it just seems to be. It's just a consistent issue on the phone, on the computer. Google Docs on the computer. It looks great. Okay. But anyways, Mari, give me 24 hours. I'm gonna put the new blueprint up. They look better. So if you're gonna get it printed out, print out the one that looks better, the same amount of pages and stuff. And then, like I said, if you did want to buy a physical version of it, I'll have one of those ready to go next Wednesday. I'm getting them and so. But they'll be 40 bucks. I think that's what they're going to be.
Everything costs more these days, I'll tell you that. But anyways. Anyways.
Yeah.
But, yeah, you gotta. Yeah. Or you gotta.
That's what you want to focus on, Mari. That's the keys to the kingdom. You know, the blueprints are the roadmap. They're your personalized roadmap to get right to your goal and stay there forever. Okay. Again, I love hypnosis, but the hypnosis is going to work because the hypnosis and I've done this, I. I can work magic on your mind. I can make you lose weight. There's no question about it. My hypnosis, where I released last year, I got tons of feedback. I was helping people lose weight. I just. I don't want to fucking just help you all lose weight. I want to help you live at your goal weight. And there's a huge difference there. So I don't want to do some shenanigans and magic that I can make you think different while you listen to sessions putting this little cocoon, help you lose weight, only to get outside of it. And then you don't know what. You're not really sure what to do or what was going on or. I'm done with that stage of my career. Okay? I don't want to hear people. Oh, I mean, it's fine. I love Coaching people. I don't even know what you're doing to me to help me. Fine. Okay. As long as we're using the blueprint, so you do know what to do. You've got to have some sense of what to do, folks. You can't just. You can't just. You can't outsource your weight loss. You just can't. I mean, you can. You can work with me and I can show you, I can teach you, I can train you how to do it, but you can't just, like, outsource your weight loss to someone else and have them do it for you. You know what I mean? It's never going to work. And even if it's hypnosis, so. Mari. Yeah? If you go through the blueprints, I mean, it will.
It's like it's black and white. You know what I mean? Like, you'll see very clearly what you're doing. That's keeping £18 on. And what you need to change to take those 18 pounds off. And it's all structured in a way to really live at that new goal weight. Okay. But, yeah, reading on your phone. And that's one of the things. I gotta test that out today. I gotta see how the PDF shows up on the phone because my. When I. I had done the. The Google document originally, and it was a great reading on the phone, it looked great, but now with the new formatting and screwing it all up. But I'm curious to see what the PDFs gonna look like. And I don't know, I'm gonna check it out. But that's why I said I'll put that up there in the program, the new designed one. I'll get that up there very soon here. And then like I said, I'll have the physical ones. Actually, I can't wait to show them to you. It looks. It looks awesome. And I can't wait to see it. I hope it looks as good as the. The proofs and everything look. But I can't wait to show you all, so that'll be neat. What's up, funny girl? Morning. Please put me on your list for a book, please. Yes, I will. I'm gonna have that out. Like I said, I'll get it out. I can't ship until Wednesday anyways, but I'll have everyone who wants to get one, you know, as quick as they can. I'll put the link up so you can order it and that'll be ready to go. So Chris said if I sign up is the blueprint readily available? Yeah, the blueprint's available, like the new updated looking one. I'm going to have that up today or tomorrow. And you can just use that on your computer, on your phone. It's fillable, you know, I mean, it's a PDF, so it's just. It's a PDF and you can just fill it out. Right. That's one version of it.
Then if you, if you wanted to buy the actual physical version, that's another option you'll have next week. And then I. I've been using a Google Docs version, which was kind of like, it worked well, but it didn't look that great. It wasn't really formatted. So what. I'm kind of stuck in the middle here. I'm trying to find anyone who knows this. I've been talking to a couple people. I'm trying to get the formatted one in Google Docs. And what's happening now is the format. I went in Google Docs, it looks good on a computer, but as soon as you look out on a phone, and specifically an Android. No, an iPhone, because I guess it looks good on Android phone. Someone showed me how it looked there. But on my iPhone, the formatting looks a little off. So anyways. Yeah, but the blueprint's in there. I mean, it's the exact same content. It's just formatted different. That's going to be up. I'm going to put it up. I want to say today, but today or tomorrow, but. Yeah, that's available to you right away.
Christy says I'm working with a coach. Tracking macros. Walking, sleeping. Well, tracking water. Do you think your Prism is a good supplement to what I'm currently doing? Getting inadequate protein and fiber, et cetera, But I still struggle.
Getting inadequate protein and fiber, but I still struggle. See, it's interesting, right, because. And this is. This is what everyone does. Well, no, no, this ain't what everyone does. Chris. Yeah. I'll give you. I'll give you your. Your flowers here that, you know, props for taking a lot of action. Okay. Nice job.
Because to be honest, I mean, most people, when it comes to weight loss, they kind of think about it, talk about it, but they never really.
Take a lot of action. So great job. You're taking lots of action. So it's interesting that you say you're doing a lot of stuff, but then I still struggle. So I'm assuming the still struggle is around eating, is what I'm gonna guess. Yeah. Without eating my emotions. Yeah. Yeah. And there you go. Right And I don't know what coach you're working with. Like a personal trainer, I'm imagining, or a nutritionist, if you're.
But again, I mean, either one of those, they never get to that deeper level. You know, Again, what you're going to find most of the time in the weight loss world is people telling you what to do. And you rarely are getting people kind of work with you to show you how to get yourself to do it, you know, And I don't know where you're at, Christy, but I will say one thing I'm doing. I'm going to open up. I only do this once or twice a year, but I've got a transformation program opening up this weekend, so it starts next week. But if you're on my email list, I just sent an email out yesterday, you can get on the wait list, make sure you get a spot. But that's working directly with me for four months. And that. That program's bonkers. Definitely the highest level of working with me, because even right now, I'm not working with private clients, but working with me privately is $25,000. So for three months. So, again, this is a much financially better deal. And you're working with me a lot. You know, over the next four months, you have access to me, literally coaching access to me three days a week. So you can literally go to all three of them, but you can directly access me. And so that's something, you know. And again, I don't know if that's, you know, overkill for you, whatever, but even the program itself is going to help you tremendously. Okay. She's both. Yeah. Fitness trainer and a nutritionist. And again, you know, fitness trainers and nutritionist. I. I love them. I'm not talking about them. I mean, they're great for helping you figure out what to do, but again, the core problem is getting yourself to do it consistently. They have no solutions. I. And I find this crazy. I find the weight loss world infuriating to me, honestly.
They just. I don't. I don't know, like, I don't want to sound like an egotistical nut job over here, that I'm the only one with the answers, but I feel that way sometimes. So I'm not going to lie either. I don't see. I don't see people giving you what you need to know to really take control of your weight. I see people telling you what to do, and I don't see, you know, even. I can. I already know, like, with your nutritionist slash trainer, it's like they're telling you the same shit you've heard forever. You're not getting into what you say to yourself. You're not getting into how to manipulate your feelings. You're not figuring out how to strategically.
Transform your habits in a way that's built for long term.
You're probably stressed and you don't know how to relax. They don't know how to help you relax. So again, she's probably telling you a lot of stuff to do, and you're struggling to get yourself to do it consistently. And that, in a nutshell, to me, is pretty much the problem with weight loss in America. Well, I guess weight loss in the world, you know, shit, I was watching the Biggest Loser documentary on Netflix and.
You know, and again, I think we. Oh, it's reality tv, and I get all that. But it's like, Biggest Loser's been around a long time and there's a lot of people still referencing it. So the fact that people don't realize how ridiculous that whole model is is just a sign of a problem. But again, most people just don't have the information to make the changes they want to make. But that's why I'm here every day. Again, this is my mission in life. So I want you to understand that living at your goal weight, like, it's not as hard as you think. Like, it's really not. You've never learned how to live at your goal weight. Never. You've never had, like, the information you truly need to live at your goal weight. And again, the information to live at your goal weight is not the macros you need. It is not the amount of calories you need to burn. Don't get me wrong. Those. Those. There's a place for that. There's no question. There's a place for knowing what to eat, how much to eat, how to move. There's obviously a place for that, but it's a small place. The majority of what's going to impact your weight is not your nutritional plan or your exercise plan. It's mostly what you're thinking in your head and how you feel in your body, because most of your behaviors flow out of your emotions. So again, everything can be going great. You can get triggered like that. And all of a sudden you're eating a bag of chips. It's that quick. So there's nothing to do with, like, your nutritional knowledge had nothing to do with that. You know, you shouldn't eat chips. You were fine not eating them, and then all of a sudden you Got triggered. Now you're eating chips. And that, that's metaphorical. That's how all your weight issues are happening. You know, what you should and shouldn't do. But then all of a sudden you get in a mood and you can't stop yourself from making the wrong choice. And that's what you fight with for decades. Most people, you know, and you never learn how to deal with that. You never learn how to deal with how you talk to yourself, your internal dialogue. You never learn about that. You never learn how to create a warm, encouraging, supportive voice. You never learn how to create strategies that truly resonate with you and work for you. You know, it's just, I mean, there's so many things you've never learned. And once you learn them.
Well, you know, I mean, geez, you know, it's like you learned about calories and macros and nutrition. Imagine trying to lose weight without having that knowledge. It'd be almost impossible, right? If you, if you looked at a, you know, a Whopper and you looked at a salad and you just didn't see any difference between. You had no sense of what calories were, macros or anything. How would you ever lose weight? You have no idea. You see, but that's how you are with your mindset. You have no idea how to deal with your mindset, no idea about your internal dialogue. No idea, no idea how to talk to yourself differently, most likely. And so it's the same type of thing. I mean, there's such a blank space in your strategy that it's almost impossible to succeed. You know, Christy says I'm consistently exercising. Walk four miles a day, live four days a week. It's the eating to soothe that still exists. Yeah, my lower brain takes over. And honestly, no wonder. I mean, you're probably exhausted, to be honest. I bet you're exhausted. I don't know how long you've been doing this. Maybe you've gotten used to it somewhat, but I bet you're exhausted. Four miles a day lifting, four days a week. You're tired physically, mentally and emotionally. And so that's. Okay, let me explain this. So.
Your brain, I'll give you the hypnotist take on it, right? This isn't very complicated. You have a conscious mind and a subconscious mind. The conscious part of your mind's a prefrontal cortex. It's about 10 of your brain. It's the most energy intensive part of your brain. Okay? And so this is the part of your brain that knows what you should do, tries to get you to do it. Okay. And then you have your subconscious mind. This is the rest of your brain. Thanks, Angie. Your subconscious mind is the part of your brain that runs all your habitual thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Okay. So as I was saying, the conscious mind is the most energy intensive part of your brain. It runs on glucose. All the cells of your body run on glucose. So when you start running four miles a day, or walking four miles a day, lifting weights four times a week, what's happening is you're using lots of glucose, so you're reducing your glucose levels. You're getting tired. And that is when, when you get tired, when your muscles and your body get tired, what do you think? What do you think your body starts to send you a signal of. I asked that question where someone's going to answer it. Hunger. When you get tired because you've been thinking about math or stressful, like if you ever had to like make a decision. I was helping my mom make a buy a car last week and I was wondering why I was so tired. Because like, we went through every scenario possible. All that thinking about scenarios, using up glucose, and I get tired and my eating reflected that last week. My eating was not as clean last week as it usually is. And so when you start doing lots of physical work, it reduces glucose levels, so your ability to make the right choices goes down. So I'm going to guess, Christy, that your eating issues are happening in the afternoon, in the evening, right? Because that's when you're depleted. And so this is why, I mean, I tell a lot of my clients, don't even cut the shit with the exercise. And we're not starting with exercising because you're going to use up all your energy. I'd much rather have people put the energy into.
I'd much rather have people put the energy into changing their mindset and their eating, you know, than spending it all on the exercising. Yeah. Christy says yes. Yeah, of course. I mean, it's a, it's the same pattern over and over. So it makes me nuts, dude. Because I'm sure, I'm sure your coach is super smart. I'm sure that she has a ton of nutritional knowledge and certifications, a tons of tons of like personal training certifications, and knows everything about physiology.
And unfortunately, you know, even nutritionists, like, and that's what I say all the time. Like, you go see a nutritionist, go get a custom made plan made for you, and guess what? It's not going to help you lose weight. Why? Because you get the same mindset in There, trying to follow it, you know, and then the exercise and we over. We over index exercising now, again, great for you because working like, like building muscle is wonderful. Okay? So lifting weights is great in the sense that that's really valuable in so many different areas of your life. So I'm. That's a great thing to do. But to jump in. I don't know how long you've been doing this, but. Yeah. Overwhelmed with work, college kids, one high schooler. Yeah. Okay, so this is what I mean, I'm just gonna say it. Christy. I know, like, you're kind of between a rock and a hard place now, and I get it, but I'm just going to be honest. This is what I do here, and I sometimes have to deliver uncomfortable truths. But I, I would say in this situation.
How sustainable is this as well, I'm not trying to talk you out. I don't, I don't want to say. I don't want to talk about what you're doing because, you know, do what you're going to do. But again, what I tend to, I, I'm more on the cooler approach, right? I think pretty much with weight loss, everything is about this kind of hot approach. Hot approach being extreme calorie restriction, extreme working out, extreme pushing yourself to get amazing results. It's the Biggest loser in your life. What? I mean, like, it's the Biggest Loser model for you. And the Biggest Loser model is a giant crock of shit. It's awful. It's something you can do for a little while and it doesn't last. That's why no one's results lasted, which it did, put a more perspective on them. I don't get started on the Biggest Loser stuff, although I could talk about that all day long. But it just validated everything I talk about here every single day. If you all have watched the Biggest Loser documentary on Netflix, I talk about this shit every single day. It's unsustainable. And the good thing about the biggest losers, it's so extreme, it's obvious to see. Okay, but here you got poor Christie, right? She got overwhelmed with work, working all the time. College kids, high schooler, right? Life is just like full speed ahead. And now, in order to get control of her weight, she is going to just add more stress on top of it. Now I'm going to lift four times a week. I'm going to walk four miles a day. And so I look at everything through the prism of energy. And I think right off the bat, you're starting with a low Level of energy to begin with. You're kind of. Your weight's not where it's going to be, your health's not where you want to be. You got high schoolers, kids, work, all this shit. Your energy is low to begin with. And so the answer is that you put more responsibility, more hard work on top of you to fix the problem. I just don't see it that way. That's the message we get constantly. No pain, no gain. You just got to do it. All the rest of it. I see that message constantly, and I don't agree with it. Why? Because every time I've gone and lifted and done physical stuff that's really intense is I end up feeling like I. Either my body starts hurting, my joints get sore, I'm really tired, I don't feel well. So for me, that just doesn't work, never has. And I sit here in front of you. I lost £50 over 30 years ago with, and maintained it with no dieting and no consistent working out. I did it through mastering my eating, and I mastered my eating because I was able to master my lifestyle and my mindset. So I'm just giving you an alternate take on this, Christy. Do what you got to do. But to me, what I'd want to do if my energy's down here, if I realize, because your eating is always going to follow your energy, because your energy is affecting your moods, your thinking, your hunger, all of these things. And when you're tired, you're hungry all the time, you're not able to make the greatest decisions in the world. So when I'm tired and exhausted, my main focus is getting my energy back up. So, yeah, I'll go to. I'll like. I liked what you're saying. I'll sleep more, I'll get my water going, I'll nourish myself, I'll do all those types of things, and I'll kind of ease off shit. I'll look for spaces to kind of cut things out so I can get my energy back up. Because I want to get my energy up. Because now everything's easier. It's so much easier for me to make good food choices, lifestyle decisions. Things are going to affect my weight when I'm relaxed, calm, energized. And I, I've been through both sides of this, you know, I mean, I had a kid, too. I, I got. I have two kids. And, you know, I. Like I said, I lost 50 pounds and I kept it off for 30 years. I had one blip. One blip 14 years ago, I put 25 pounds on, and it just coincidentally happened when I moved into a house that we completely redid. I'm running a business, and I have my son who was not a good sleeper. And so that's when I put the weight on. So again, when I got so exhausted, my eating went a different direction. And my first thing I did to correct all that was really, really honor my energy and to calm down and relax and get my energy back up, you know, And I think that's hard with the common because all I know all your coach cares about is losing weight, because that's all they care about. And I care about you feeling good and having energy and feeling relaxed and feeling calm. I don't give a how much weight you lose. Are you.
Like, I want you to get your goal away too, but I just don't care how fast it happens. And that's the big difference, because when all you care about is how fast it happens, this is the you do. You cut way too many calories out. You do way too much exercise and working out, and you overwhelm yourself. And I just don't like that path. A. I don't find it's the most effective for long term weight loss, and I find it to be miserable. It is for me anyways, you know, but hey, listen, if you all love working out, literally every influencer on the planet is, is, you know, promoting that sort of approach. Right. Just start working out harder. Just take more action. Just come on. Do you want it? I. I hate that. I'd much rather see you sleep in on the weekend. Take a nap, go take a bath, go get a massage, go. You know what I mean? Like, I want you to work out too. Like, I like the working out piece. I'm not saying don't work out, but I'm saying sometimes it can be so overwhelming that you feel. You feel like you're walking a tightrope. Right. And it feels like the second you stop, you're gonna fall off. That's not. That's not to me. Any way to kind of build your success? That foundation just seems shaky, so I don't know. Yeah. I'm only five one. All right. Yep. That's always challenging. My calories are low, too.
Yeah, I really like that. It's almost a relief. Yeah. Four kids. Yeah. Again, I mean, you're just. And you're in the thick of it, Christy. You know, I mean, college, high school, working. I mean, it's just like, I can only imagine doing all that working out and all that Calorie counting that you're doing that. I. Well, you know, here's the question. Here's the magic question. How long do you think you can keep that up for?
You know, and that's only a question you can answer. And you can really only answer when you're lying in bed late at night, really being honest with yourself, you know? But I could tell you, for me, it's like the. I can live this way forever. Do you know what I mean? Because it's easy because my main. Most of my energy is going into what I'm eating now. I'm working out more now. Like, I do more physical stuff. I've just started to do. You know what I mean? But. But it's like if you get your eating dialed in, that's how you lose weight again. Muscle is wonderful for a lot of reasons, okay? But when it comes to weight walking, 4 miles is ultimately not going to help you lose a lot of weight. I know you don't want to hear that, but it's true. Go read. Burn the book. Burn. Your body really does adapt to your energy, your activity levels. So again, I don't like to put all my energy into activity and calorie burning. I put most of my energy into calorie intake. And I think that's the magic formula because that's the easier side of the equation. It's way easier not to eat a bagel than it is to work out for 45 minutes. For me, I'll take that choice all day long. And that's the choice I made 30 over 30 years ago. I will choose to focus on how can I get myself to consistently say no to the donut than to say yes to working out three days a week in the gym for an hour. Now you say, well, Jim, that's wrong. Fine, we all get to make our choices. But that's the choice I made. I want to live. I want to live at my goal weight in the easiest, most enjoyable way possible. I want to get to my goal and stay there on. So it's on near autopilot. That's my goal. I don't want to kill myself to get to my goal weight and then have to kill myself forever to stay at my goal weight. That's not even appealing to me at all. Don't think I'd even do it. But anyways.
I do like working out. My walk is with my friend every morning, and I like that connection. See, that's great, Christy. There's an example, though. That's a great example, though. So again, that walk now takes on a different context, you see, and so that's a good example of what I would aim at. So, you know, now don't get me wrong again, I, I think lifting weights is really good and if you're going to push yourself with anything, I think lifting weights is a great thing to push yourself with a bit. Okay? So it's like.
But compare your walking to the working out and you may find that the walking you really enjoy, right, because there's a friend there. You walk, you talk, you're outside. There's just, it's, it's like it's easier to get yourself to do, right, because there's other things going on. You enjoy it more, I bet, than the weights, I bet the weights. You really have to force yourself to do it. You probably need your coach there to really get you going to do it. Whereas the walking is something genuinely kind of resonates with you. It kind of works for you, gives you some space away from the house, the kids, whatever, and, and you get some time off. So that's the type of stuff that I like to build around. Things that not only are supportive and helpful to you in your weight and you're making good choices, but they also make you feel good. You know what I mean? So that's where. Because again, now, now let me just make the final point, right? So I said, chris, yeah, I really get everything you're saying. I'm sure you do, because I know you're smack dab in the middle of it. And so I will make this point that I think is the key thing that I think pretty much without exception, when people think about losing weight in this culture, they think like dieters and dieters think about getting to their goal weight. You think about this, it's a destination based goal where you think about getting to my goal weight. And you're so focused and fixated on getting to your goal. You're so excited and motivated and, and fired up to do it that you can use, you have a lot more energy than you're normally going to have, okay? And you'll do more extreme things that aren't necessarily sustainable. You don't give a shit if they're sustainable. You just want to get to your goal weight. That's the goal. That's your whole focus. Program yourself. Then in me, what I'm talking about is living at your goal weight. So I'm here to tell you because no one wants to say this or think about this, and I know this can sound discouraging but it's like getting to your goal weight is just day number one of being at your goal weight. Do you know what I mean? Like, how long do you want to be there for? I'm assuming forever. And here's the big problem. What most people do is they trade the pleasure and the excitement of the food for the pleasure and the excitement of the weight going down.
I get it, right? But at some point, the weight stops going down. Now, where you're getting your pleasure and excitement from, now, where are you getting your motivation from to do all that crazy? Because when we're looking forward to the weight loss again, it's our brain works differently. You're tapping into dopamine, this idea that you're going to lose weight. I'm telling you, it's fairy tale land. Like you're just making it to be this catch all, fixing everything, and you're going to get to your goal weight and it's going to be great in a lot of ways. And it's going to be the same in a lot of ways as your life right now. I, I, I don't give a, I can say what I want because no one, everyone's bullshitting you in the weight loss world. I'm not, not gonna do it. And if you don't like it, that's fair too, but I'm not gonna. You getting to your goal weight now, all of a sudden, you don't have the excitement of looking at the weight coming off, you know, this magical future that you're gonna step into. You're like, oh, I'm at my goal weight now. Oh, I still gotta go pick my kid up. Oh, I still got bills. Oh, I still got work, so I'm still stressed out. And now you don't have the weight loss to look forward to. And now you don't have the food either. And this is why 95 of dieters that lose weight on a diet put the weight back on. That's the stat that, that, that keeps me up at night. That's why I'm here. It's the people that put all the work in, you know what I mean? And then they put the weight back on. And it's because you never set yourself up to live at your goal weight. It was all about getting to your goal weight. And that's the trap dieters find themselves in. So again with program yourself, then it's all steeped in relaxation. That's why I always joke, people ask me, oh, what I do the first day. Was there an eating plan Is it? No. You start the program the first day, you listen to a five minute hypnosis session. Why? Because we start your day so you can relax. I bet, Christy, I bet you feel like you are just constantly going. I bet you feel like you don't have a second for yourself, like you're just constantly going at this point. And I bet you feel exhausted. That's what I bet. And I mean, I hope not. Okay? But I just. I just. I've seen this pattern so many times, because, again, who do I work with? You're exactly the type of person I work with. I work with overthinkers, overachievers, perfectionist, action takers. You know, they've done the diets, they've done all this. They'll put the work in, they lose them, they put it back on, and then they wonder, what's wrong with me? Why do I keep doing this? They get obsessed and they get caught up in that.
So, you know, it's just. It's the approach that's wrong. You know what I mean? And so there. There's way more comfortable, easy ways to lose weight.
And they're just built around relaxation.
Yeah. And then I like what Sarah just read. Sarah just read. I'm 43, perimenopausal. I have the diet, exercise stuff down pretty good. Is there if. Is there a way to adjust my psychology to control my cortisol levels better? Cortisol seems to affect weight loss in a big way. Yes, I agree. Which brings me back to Christy. Again, if you're losing weight in a way that's very stressful to you, physically, mentally, emotionally, it's most likely it's raising your cortisol levels and that is reducing your weight loss results. So again, for me personally, I will build on relaxation. That's what we do in the program. We build on relaxation and calm. Because it affects everything. I mean, not just your cortisol levels, it affects everything. Your ability to make the right choices, your cravings, your hunger, everything. So that's what I'd rather focus on. Christy said, I've done that and gained all 30 pounds back. I'm repeating the same pattern. Yeah. And it's the same pattern, Christy, because again, right when you're in weight loss phase, it's 100, doing everything to lose weight. Right. And then you lose the weight, and then what happens? You don't have that same level of motivation. That's what I'm trying to tell you all. As soon as you get to your goal weight, you're, you know, Think. I always think of motivation, the program. We always talk about motivation as being like the engine of your car, okay? And so it's like, you know, you got this 450 horsepower engine. When you want to lose weight, and then you get to your goal weight, that engine becomes much smaller. And I know you don't believe me because you think, well, I just want to live at that weight forever. Then how do 95% of dieters that lose weight put the weight back on? That's an uncomfortable number. I get it. But you've got to reflect on it, because it really does.
It illuminates a lot of the problems with this process and the pro. The main problem you all have with weight loss is that you think of as a temporary thing. I'll give you one more metaphor just to kind of tie it all together, but it's kind of like you've been trained to think of weight loss like a sprint, right? You think of it as a sprint. You think of it as an end point, and you think, I want to get there, and I want to get there as fast as possible. And so as soon as you get in your mind that I want to get to my goal as fast as possible, the next thing that comes up in your mind is, what's the most extreme thing I can do to get there quickly? And so you think about weight loss like a sprint. And now let's take that metaphor a step further, right? Because that's kind of how you think about weight loss now. But really, weight loss is a marathon. Living at your goal weight's a marathon, right? Because you want to live there forever, right? So. So again, it's going to be for the rest of your life. It's a marathon. But you're at the starting line of the Boston Marathon. They're about to shoot the gun off, and you're like, you know what? I'm going to run this like a sprinter. I'm going to run this like a sprinter. I'm going to the whole race. I'm going to run faster than everyone. It sounds like a good idea. Gun goes off and you start sprinting. First eighth of a mile, you're way ahead, everyone. You're holy. My plan's really, I'm way ahead, everyone. Oh, my God. Next eighth of a mile, you collapse and you don't finish the race.
That's kind of like how most people approach their weight loss. Use all your energy up in the beginning, and you have nothing left to keep going. And on top of that, the strategies you use to lose weight are not sustainable for most people. So again, for me personally, I'm looking, but program yourself then. We're starting with, with maintenance. We start with maintenance on day one because that's the whole goal. The goal isn't to lose weight. The goal is to live at your goal weight for the rest of your life on your autopilot. They're two totally different goals. Does that make sense? I hope it does because that's the, the main hypothesis I'm putting out here is this, that dieting is about getting to your goal weight. It's a short term mindset. What I'm talking about is living at your goal weight for the rest of your life on your autopilot. And I want you to notice that you've never stated that as a goal, which is a real issue. And again, it's not your fault. You've been conditioned to think about weight loss by the diet industry. And the diet industry doesn't want you to lose weight. The diet industry is a recurring revenue model and just a branch of the processed food industry. All the big diets are owned by big food companies. Weight Watchers was owned by Heinz. Jenny Craig was owned by Nestle. Atkins Food Products owned by the same company, owned Cinnabon and Atkins. Ony Ann's Pretzels. Slim Fast is owned by the same company, owns Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. None of these companies want you to lose weight for good. They just want to fill your head with rocks while you try and lose weight for a little bit, get your money there and then have you go back to eating the same shitty foods in the same amounts, you know, so yeah.
Mary says the relax element, relaxation element has been such a revelation to me. No longer panic eating when hungry. Yes, Mari's on the program started about a month or so and apparently she's been doing most of the hypnosis. But the hypnosis alone, yes, because folks, I mean, listen, let's be honest, it's 2025 in America. If you're not stressed, are you even, are you even alive?
Are you not up to here with stress? I mean, there's not too many people, right? And so again, what I'm trying to tell you is that you're so stressed and you're so used to it, right? So even, even Christy, right? So I'll give you an example because I'm in a similar boat age ways of my, my kids. I got one kid in college and one who's almost in high school. But what that means another way to look at that is that I've had 20 years of raising a kid. That's 20 years of acute stress is what that means. Acute stress and exhaustion. Because it's just constantly thinking about this other person. It's just. It's just. And you multiply that with Christie, you've got two more kids. But what I'm trying to say is that it's 20 years, 20 year block of time where you've been overworked, overstressed, exhausted, all the rest of it. So what's happened is you've habituated to that, so it just feels normal to you now. That's one of my big messages I'm saying to all of you is that most likely your stress levels, your energy level. Well, your stress levels are high, your energy levels are low, and you're just used to it. You know, they always say that about sleeping, that one of the first things that goes when you're, you know, you're sleeping gets kind of crappy and, you know, you're not sleeping. Well, one of the first things that goes is your awareness that you're tired and this is something that's happened to you is that you've lost your awareness of how stressed and exhausted you are. And if you can get back to a place where you feel more energized, more relaxed and more calm, you naturally make a lot better. It doesn't fix everything again here, what I'm saying. I'm not saying just relaxing fixes everything. It doesn't. But what I'm saying is it's a solid foundation, folks. Look at your own behaviors, right? You can do so well, and then all of a sudden just like flip off and do the wrong thing, what do you think leads to that? It's your moods, it's your energy levels, it's your thinking. So when you build a solid foundation of calm, peaceful relaxation, it's just fundamentally a different place to operate out of. And I like that you said that, Mari, because, yeah, no longer panic eating when hungry. You know what I mean? Because when you're relaxed and calm and you start to get hungry, you just. You interface with it differently than when you're stressed out and freaking out. I'm the same way. I've been doing this shit for over 30 years. But if you, you know, deprive me of sleep, get me stressed out, all the rest of it, and now I'm hungry, the chances of me making an unhealthy food choice go way up. And when I'm relaxed and calm and more centered When I approach it, the chance of that being better go way up, you know, so it's like, it's just one of these things that, like, no one ever thinks about, I guess. But to me, and it goes back to. It's always that Abe Lincoln quote I always think about. He goes where, if I had four hours to chop a tree, I'd spend three hours sharpening the blade. And so I kind of think that same way with weight is that like, I want to invest a lot of time into being more relaxed and calm. And not only is going to help you the way, but it helps in every area of your life. Because I, I would bet virtually every person listening right now is stressed. Have you're chronically stressed, we'll just leave it at that. You know, I'm, I bear. I feel like I'm chronically stressed and I work on this constantly, but my level of relaxation has increased so much in my life, life, and it's just, it makes everything easier. You think different, you feel different, you behave differently when you're more relaxed and calm. You know, Christy says it's my goal to change my identity and be a healthy, strong woman who nourishes my body and trains with purpose. I love that. Chris, that's great. Yeah, that's one of the things in the program we do that again, I think most people just overlook or don't really consider is your self image, you know, your identity. How do you think about yourself? This is a huge piece of it because your, your behaviors follow your identity. If you think you're an overeater, you're probably going to overeat a lot. You know, if you think you're out of control, you know what I mean? Just what you think about yourself is so crucial. So I love that. Christy, that's, that's a great goal.
Says so the mental shift reduces cortisol and shifts you into the parasympathetic state, enabling your body to drop weight you. Yeah, I think so. I think it supports it. Sarah. Now, I don't think just relaxing. That's what I was saying. I think, you know, if you eat the same and you just relax, I think you're not going to lose much weight. But again, my point is that when you, when you really put relaxation and calm in the bullseye, what ends up happening is everything starts to improve. If you can bring, if you could increase your relaxation by 20%, you know, all of a sudden you've reduced your hunger, most likely you've reduced your cravings for unhealthy food.
Oops.
You've increased your ability to think clearly and calmly. You've increased your ability to make healthier food choices. You've increased your ability to stay connected to your goals. You've reduced your cortisol levels. Most likely, you've oxygenated your body at a higher level. You're probably going to sleep better, which is going to cause you to wake up with more energy. And again, everything I just mentioned improves as well. And it just goes on and on. So, again, we got to realize, too, that a lot of times our culture just does this in general, where it's like, we do one thing and we get one result and we have to start thinking holistically. I think when you think about your weight, I think you need a comprehensive, holistic approach to truly master it. That's why I hate modern diet culture and weight loss culture, because it's all about the calories. One thing, it's just calories. And yes, calories have their place, obviously, but I think there's so many other things that impact the calorie question that you can get so much more bang for your buck and you can feel so much better. Because remember, at the end of the day, and this is for you, Christie, this isn't just about losing weight. It's about increasing the quality of your life. Do you hear what I'm saying, folks? Because I know you've all lost weight by decreasing the quality of your life. I'm talking to keto people especially, right? You've gone your keto thing and you've lost weight. Your quality of life went down, too. Yes, it did. Or you would have fucking stopped, stayed on it. It's weird. It's weird to never eat carbs again. It's weird to go to a birthday party and you can't eat any cake or pizza. It's weird. And your quality of life goes down. You say this, it ain't worth it. So, again, it's never about the weight. It's always about the quality of life. And a lot of times, most dieters, while they lose weight, their quality of life's going down, ironically. Maybe you don't believe that, but trust me, it's true.
Yeah, Sarah likes that. The 20, right? Yeah, I know, because I know. Listen, folks, here's the other thing. So in Program Yourself thin, we talk about the 1% better every day, right? So it's an opposite philosophy of dieting. Because think about dieting. Dieting, you jump into 100% better the first day, right? That's how that's and it doesn't matter what diet you do. I don't care. Pick any diet you've ever done. One thing I know about you is that you jumped into it 100% on day one. Keto, no carbs, intermittent fasting, not eating for 16 hours. Weight Watchers account every point, you know, and so program yourself is totally different. We're getting better 1% a day. Now you say that's too slow. I want fast results. But here's your problem. My one of my favorite quotes ever is that most people overestimate how much weight they can lose in a month and underestimate how much weight they can lose in a year. And so if you get better, this is a crazy stat. If you get better 1% a day for a year, percentage wise, you get better 3650%.
It just because it keeps building on top of the previous improvements. So again, I know, I know. Like just the jumping into a plan 100 and just that idea. I'm going to start losing weight immediately. You're so addicted to that that you can't see beyond it. But if you relax for a second and zoom out, you're gonna get much better results. If you continuously get better a little bit over a year, you get way better results. And more importantly, you're built to sustain them. But you know, people gonna be. People gonna be impatient and I get it, you know what I mean? But that impatience is really as a trap for sure.
And Tick tock. I'm sorry I've skipped you a lot here, but let me get in here. Anyone's got any questions on Tick Tock, ask him. This is not a video. I know people think that sometimes I get caught up and start yapping too long, but Biggie says managing my weight stabilizes me. So looking forward to the new blueprints. Probably the book version.
Well formatted blueprint eventually work well on an iPhone. Yeah, I'm working on that. Vicki and I, I don't know, it's like, it's so weird. I don't know what's causing it. But like I said, yeah, whatever, I will.
I'm still working on that. So I should have that all figured out this week one way or the other. Andy says, I'm almost in tears today. My zepbound journey is over. Very expensive.
What's that bound so what does that mean? What do you do now, Angie?
Okay. Oh yeah. Okay. It's a jlp one. Yeah.
It's over.
Over because you. It was because it was expensive.
I wouldn't Be surprised. I mean, I, I don't know. You know, again, it's just like.
Yeah, fear of gaining back all 50 pounds I've lost as I'm digressing of midnight snacks. Oh, Angie, so you're going off now? I, I don't want to be negative. I, I, you know, it's just, it doesn't look good. I mean, the GLP1 numbers, it just, it seems across the board. But I don't want to, I don't want to say that to you, you know, but I don't know. I wish you the best, Angie. Well, you're here all the time, you know, feel free to talk about stuff. Midnight snacking. Yeah, midnight snacking. But again, a lot of it, Angie, is kind of, I don't want to say, like, relax. I don't just relax. Is this stupid? That's not all. Do you understand? It's just, it's just the starting point. But even for Angie, I know, Angie, for you, part of the stress right now is the stress and the fear of gaining it back. And that can become kind of a self fulfilling prophecy because, but not because you're just even thinking about it, but because it's like the stress of thinking about it all the time uses up a lot of energy and.
You know, can kind of lead you back in that direction. But I wish you the best, Angie.
How do you exercise, Jim? My exercise? Now listen, I'm a very active person, so I want to make that clear. But I, I, most of my activities, like, well, I do a lot of product, like I'm always kind of doing stuff, so, so I am a fidgety person who does a lot of like, like projects. Like, I just redid my Adirondack shares. I just like that constantly. But I, you know, I take my dog for walks, I play basketball, ski, snowboard, so I'm an active person. Okay. In terms of working out, I have not worked out in any consistent way for 30 years. I have. In the last six months or so I've started doing like more push ups and body weight squats. And so that's my working out right now. And I will take working out a lot more serious as I get older because of muscle tone and quality of life and all those things. So my exercising at the moment is really push ups, body weight squats and I would just keep building on that and I will, I'll keep you up to date and I'll let you know as I move forward with it.
Joanna says, hey, I have a question. How can I Get lean and lose 10kg. I mean, you know, it's really just comes down to consuming less calories at the end of the day.
Apple user says. Thanks for your post, Jim. I really appreciate your insight. So you're welcome. Thanks for. Thanks for watching them. Yeah. Well, cool when we got everyone. Thank you so much. Great questions, great comments. I really appreciate it all. Nice to be back. I was missed yesterday. I apologize for that. I'm getting back to our normal routine now. Next week everything will kind of be back to normal. Normal. But I appreciate y' all sticking with me. If you're not my world yet, please click the link in my bio. Go get the free hypnosis session I give you. It's called the New Thin Me. It's a kickstart session.
I made a training video for you as well. It's all free. We've got a bunch of free stuff coming for you. We got the Circle app that's going to have a free section coming soon. So get notified about that if you're on my email list. So get in there. Right. It's all free stuff. Yeah. Worst case scenario is all. It's all stupid and just leave. It won't cost you anything. No big deal. But on the flip side, it might help you. Might may help you to be the thing that helps you to do live your goal for the rest of your life. And oh, I see Sarah said, what days do you do lives? I do lives every Monday through Friday. So I'm here every Monday through Friday, usually noon to.
Noon to 12:30 Eastern. Pretty much I'm on here. And so please get on here, ask your questions. I'm here to help you all out. This is my mission. So any questions, you have, any help you need, I'm here to do that for you. Right. And if you like listening to this and you miss it, it's also a podcast. You can go to program yourself, then search any podcast platform, search program yourself, then it'll pop up. And I put them up there as well so you can listen to them. And a lot of people do that. All right. Joanna says, so I just eat less calories and maybe do more workouts. You don't have to do more workouts. I mean, again, it all depends on what your goal is, you know, so if you just want to get leaner, reducing the calories is how you do it, you know. And so, you know. But if you want to get more defined, then you got to work out more. But you probably know a lot of that. But yeah, at the end of the day, if you want to get leaner, it's just. Yeah. Reducing calories, you know? But I would suggest reducing the calories strategically. Me, most people way over reduce the calories and kind of overwhelm themselves, and they can't stick to it. Okay? So that's the one thing, is cut them down comfortably. All right, everyone have a super duper day, and we'll talk soon. Bye.
