Making Mistakes and Still Losing Weight

Jim Katsoulis argues weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. You'll make mistakes. The goal is average calorie reduction over time, not perfection, paired with intrinsic motivation to build habits that stick.

Everyone, welcome to today's program yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about making mistakes and still losing losing weight. You can do it. You can make mistakes and still lose weight. And I guess what I'm really talking about here is the concept and idea of being all or something, okay. As opposed to being all or nothing, which most dieters are. And before we get into it, I just want to take a step back and remind you that you have been trained your entire life. When you think about weight loss, you think about having to be perfect, right? That's what the diets have done to us, that we jump into a diet and we're going to follow it perfectly because we want to lose weight quickly. And that is basically how we all think about weight loss. And what that leads to is it creates this sprinting concept around weight loss that a lot of times we don't realize, okay? And we approach weight loss subconsciously, automatically at this point because we've been programmed as if it were a sprint. And if you think about the. A sprinting race, uh, it's a short race that requires perfection to win. If you trip a little bit, you're gonna lose. Okay? It's a short race built for perfection. And this is what the diet industry has conditioned us to do when we think about weight loss is we think about it as a temporary, short term thing. We're gonna do perfectly to lose weight as quick as possible and get to our goal weight. And so that's how we internalize it. And what ends up happening from this point, I mean, there's obvious. The positive side is that maybe you'll do it perfectly and lose weight quickly. Okay? But the more often, the not side of it is that usually what happens is you start off being perfect, you make the littlest mistake and you feel like you blew it. Okay? Just like if you're in a sprint, you, you trip in the beginning. How hard are you running the rest of the race? Not very hard, right? Even if you even finish it right, because you lost, it ain't working. And so this concept in our mind is been put there by the diet industry. It's not a real natural concept, but we have been conditioned to think about our weight loss as if it were a sprint. And the only thing that's acceptable is perfection. And so any mistake you make, it feels like, oh, we blew it, what's the point? And this is why there's literally a psychological concept they talk about and it's specific to dieters. It's called the what the hell effect. And dieters are notorious for this, that as soon as they make a mistake, they usually go way off, you know, off track the other way, right? They, they were restricting and all of a sudden they make a mistake and now they feel like they blew it. And now they typically way overeat. So this idea and this concept of weight loss being this short term or temporary thing we're going to do perfectly until we lose the weight is so destructive because it's that framework that sets you up to experience a mistake as being catastrophic, right? So again, if you're in a marathon and you triple it a little bit in the beginning, it's not going to make as much of an impact, right? Because you got a lot of time and you can make up for it. If you're in the sprint and you trip a little bit in the beginning, you've lost. Right. Again, perfection is the only thing that works. So we have internalized this idea of perfection with weight loss and we, the second we make a mistake, we feel like we blew it. What's the point now? Well, the point is that that's how you get better. Okay? So what you need to do is start changing your concept of weight loss from having to be this short term perfect path you need to run to being one that you're going to walk for the rest of your life, mistakes and all. Because what leads to weight loss is an average reduction of calories. That's the secret. So instead of thinking of each day as its own little silo, and each day has to be perfect and each day has to stack up with the other perfect days to create a perfect result. Instead we start to zoom out and look at the big picture. We can look at a week, for example, a week of calorie consumption, and we can go into the process of weight loss and say, I'm looking to dial down my average calorie consumption over a week by 20%. Let's say that's my goal. And if we start to zoom out and look at a week and we say, okay, I want to drop it by 20%. Now, just instantly we start to set ourselves up to be able to absorb and weather the mistakes that we're going to make. You see, because if we're just in each and every moment, each and every moment, we have to be perfect. The second we make a mistake, it just feels catastrophic. But if we recognize where we are in time with our weight loss and our behaviors, when we make a mistake, we can, hey, what happened there? Pay attention to it. Recognize what the story Was, but then realize, okay, now I'll make it up. I've got a week here, I've got a month, I've got a year, I've got the rest of my life. There is no rush here. The secret is to keep getting better. Keep getting better. I'm going to get better at living at a lower calorie consumption rate. That's my goal. And some days I'll do better than other days. That's normal and natural with anything that you start to work on, you know. And so as you start to internalize this, this sets you up to be able to manage and handle the mistakes that you are going to make. And there's nothing wrong with making mistakes. If you look at any other area of your life, of things that you could go and put time and energy into, art, music, you know, martial arts, reading, it just, it doesn't matter. Any hobby or thing you want to get good at. If you start practicing and doing it, you're gonna have good and bad days. It's not gonna be just a straight line of success. You'll have good days where things are going well, bad days where things aren't going so great. And you'll have to manage those that, that it'll be a mixture of those though. And so why would it be any different with your weight loss that you would have good and bad days? I don't know. Reality we have been convinced to believe in, where we imagine a reality where we just never make mistakes. The goal is that we're just always going to be perfect. I just have not seen that ever play out. I've never seen that happen. I personally have never been perfect. I mean, I've had my perfect days. Perfect couple days. Okay. I've never had a perfect month, a perfect year. I've never had it. Okay, so again, instead of the dieter who's always trying to be perfect, we're going to take a step back and say, no, thank you. My goal is not to be perfect at all. And the second we say that, we set ourselves up to live in the real world, I think, and again, to be able to manage and absorb those mistakes that we are going to make way more effectively. And so we go into the process and we say, I know I'm going to make mistakes, but I'm going to learn and grow from them. I start playing, I play guitar. So if I learning a new song, I'm not going into that song being like, okay, I have the song right in front of me, I should play this perfectly. I know Everything I need to do, it's up to me to play it perfect. I don't go and do that. I go, okay, I'm learning this song. I go into it, I make mistakes, okay? That's part of learning. I'm new to this. I'm learning, I'm growing, I'm evolving, and I'm getting better each and every day. But if I'm not perfect, when I start playing a new song, I'm not devastated. It's not catastrophic to me. It's expected. It's part of the process. And if you start to make this part of your weight loss process, you put yourself in a much stronger position than a dieter who thinks they need to be perfect. Okay? And you can only need to reference your own experience. I know you've tried to be perfect with certain plans. You've been perfect for a little bit, then you've made a mistake and then you quit. And you have probably repeated that hundreds of times. And so the answer is not to expect that someday you're going to wake up and magically be able to be perfect. And it's to start to change your concept of how you're going to approach and experience weight loss. And I can promise you, if you are going to get to your goal weight and live there, I promise you, I guarantee you, you are going to have good and bad days. You are going to make mistakes. So the answer is not to imagine you're never going to make a mistake. It's to understand and expect you're going to make mistakes and have a plan for getting back on track quickly, having a mindset that's able to absorb that mistake and recover from it quickly. That's the secret. And so you can make mistakes and still lose weight if you get back on track quickly and getting back on track quickly. I think the most important piece of that is having a different mindset that expects to make mistakes. Because if you are of the mindset of a typical dieter that perfection is the way and you make a mistake, then what's the point of going forward? You've already lost. Whereas if you're in the program yourself, thin world, we make mistakes and we learn and grow from them, we expect it, and we know it's not about perfection. It's about percentage improvement. You don't need to be 100% perfect, you need to be 20% better, most likely to be a lot closer to your goal weight. And when you start thinking of it this way, it gives you the time and the space to actually be able to Again, absorb the mistakes and move forward. So I hope you give this some thought because it is so fundamental to the proper mindset to get the results you're looking for. And it's never talked about again. Dieting has conditioned us to think within this box of perfection. And again, dieting is a psychological operation, not. It's. Dieting is not there for you to succeed. Dieting is a marketing concept put there by the food processing industry. The diet industry is a branch of the food processing industry. And so they give us this broken paradigm in order to entrap us, I believe. Okay. And so part of that is this idea that you need to be perfect. You do not need to be perfect, I promise you. I've watched client after client after client. I personally have never been perfect and I'm living at my goal weight. So you do not need to be perfect, I promise you. And that pursuit of perfection is probably one of the number one things sabotaging your success. So it's up for you to kind of take a step back and reflect on that and hopefully be able to move forward in a much more practical and real way that sets you up to thrive in the real world. Now if you want any help with that, click the link in my bio and go get the free hypnosis session that I give you. It's called the New Thin me. It's a 10 minute kickstart session, completely free. So let's see if we can make that happen. So I'm gonna be talking and all sorts of, you know, code words. Okay. But anyways, th. This, this here is free right now. And if you want to get the version of it that is digital, you can get the free digital version until the tomorrow. Well, until Friday I guess, because tomorrow midnight. But so for the next two days you can get this free. You grab it. This is a great book, I gotta tell you. Am I biased? Yes. But I have heard from a Lot of people that have validated everything I thought about this book. It is full of hypnotic stories designed to help change the way you think, feel and behave so that you can get closer to your goal weight and then ultimately live there forever. So this is a nice, valuable tool for you. It's completely free these days. Go check it out. Anthony, how's it going? Anthony says screw it. The day is ruined already. I'm gonna eat as much as I can and I'll start again tomorrow. Mindset. Yes, exactly. And we all know what that feels like, you know, but that's the kiss of death. It's very difficult. And again, I know it's hard. You know, we like to say data over drama, but it's hard not to get emotional and dramatic when you make a mistake. I get it, okay? I completely understand that piece. But just because it's difficult doesn't mean we shouldn't work on it. Because it's a fundamental thing to your success or failure, right? Because you're going to make mistakes. The question is, what are you going to do after the mistake? I always say, you know, they say in politics, it's not the, it's not the crime, it's the COVID up. I always say with weight loss, it's not the binge, it's what you do afterwards. That's what matters most. It's not the one. It's not the one time you overate. It's not the one binge. That's not the problem. The problem is what you do afterwards. And for most people, what happens is it becomes, screw it. The days ruined, the weeks ruined, the months ruined, the years ruined. You know, I mean, there was people, there's people that, you know, planned on starting their weight loss journey on Thursday last week because it was the first who have already quit because they screwed up on Thursday and the year is blown. Now there are people at this very moment that in their mindset, ah, this year is blown. Yes, there is, okay? And that, that is the epitome of what we're talking about here. You know, this idea that if you put perfection around this, you're just doomed for failure because you're going to make mistakes, you know, so you've got to manage that. And the way you manage that is you need to again, first you become aware of it being there. And then you work to develop a better belief system that's going to support you in this process. And then finally you practice living in that mindset. And while we are still not restricted on tick tock, I Flip my camera around so you can see this free, free book I'm giving away. So this is a free book you can go get at places, you get books these days online and it's free. So go grab that. And he says one year of lower calorie consumption, six months, three months, one month, one week. Starting point. Yeah, absolutely. That's a good way to think about it. I always say it anyways. I think people's time frames, again, dieting has really perverted our time frames that we think in. You know, I always say, like most dieters think about weight loss in terms of days, weeks and maybe months. And in program yourself, then we think about weight loss in timeframes of years, decades and forever. So that alone is transformative. An example of that is kind of like college, right? When you go to college, college is framed as a four year experience. And so when you go, when you go to college, you're expecting to, it's going to take you four years or two years. Again, associates or more if you're going to do advanced stuff, but you have a time frame, you know, of how to do it. You don't go to college and say, okay, let me see how fast I can get my degree, right? And think about how stressful that would be. Think how stressful it'd be if you went into college and like, okay, see how fast I can do it. You know, you probably wouldn't learn well, you probably quit, you'd probably overwhelm yourself, you know. So again, time frames are really important and I always suggest that's another really helpful mindset piece of this process is to start expanding your time frames, you know, start thinking longer term and it's not hard to do because at the end of the day, how long would you like to live at your goal weight? I'm going to assume you're saying forever, right? Of course. So this is a never ending marathon. If you'd like to live at your goal weight for the rest of your life, and I hope and imagine you do, so you know, it's not a hard shift to make to become more longer time frame focused. What's up, Harriet? Harriet says, I received your book yesterday and started the program. My first goal is to not be perfect. Love the program in your book. Awesome job, Harriet. Great job taking action. Glad you got the books. Yeah, here it is. This book is free right now. So again, for the next two days, this book is free. Go grab it from the place you grab books these days online and it's free. You'll See it. So go check that out. Two more days to get this. This book is, in my opinion, the stuff of stuffs. 40 chapters of just pure wisdom from my brain to yours. I have been doing this. I've been helping people. Well, I've been obsessed with weight for myself for over 30 years. I dropped 50 pounds and have ke it off for over 30 years. And I've been doing this professionally for over 20 years. So I think, what am I at? Like 22 years maybe? I've been doing this a long time. I've done 6,000 private weight loss sessions. I've been doing this for a while. I'm a certified hypnotist, NLP trainer, strategic coach, yoga instructor. I pretty much study anything and everything I can that will help you live at your goal weight. That is my mission in life. And so this book here is very intentionally a book designed to be a light, accessible, easy read meant to be read multiple times. It's 40 chapters, but each chapter is a page or two or three. You know, usually they're one to two pages. And so it's designed to be read quickly and easily and repetitively. And what it does is it in. In a subtle way. It takes you through the entire program, yourself then system, but it does it in a way that if you've never heard anything about it, you're still going to get a lot of value out of it. The goal of this book is that it's written as hypnotic stories. So as you read stories, the goal is that it starts to change the way you think and that changed the way you feel and that ultimately changes the way you behave and that changes your weight and how you look. So great job. Harriet. Welcome to the program and I'm proud of you for taking action and I will see you in that program. What's up, Therese? Therese says, I'm 8% toward living in my goal weight, taking my time, and listening to your messages. That's awesome, Therese. Again, I love the percentage. I think that's wonderful. And I mentioned that all the time. I think it's a great idea to measure your weight loss success in terms of percentages as well as total pounds lost. But I think the percentages is more valuable because it gives you a sense of where you are and where you're going. Okay. What I mean by that is that let's just say you're 200 pounds and you want to be 150 pounds and you've lost 10 pounds. You say, well, I lost 10 pounds, I lost 10 pounds. But that doesn't really have context to it. And so another way to frame that is to say if you have lost 10 pounds and you want to lose 50 pounds and you lost 10 pounds, that's 20% of your goal, right? So another way to frame that, instead of just saying, oh, I've lost 10 pounds, I lost 10 pounds, you can say, I'm 20% of the way to my goal. And this becomes more powerful the further down the path you go. Because now let's say out of that 50 pound goal weight loss that you want to achieve, let's just say you're at 30% or 30 pounds, right? So instead of just saying, well, I lost 30 pounds, I lost 30 pounds, I'm trying to lose 20 more, I lost 30 pounds, I Lost 30 pounds, you start saying, I'm 60% of the way to my goal, I'm 60% of the Way to my goal weight. And again, there's context in that number. It can be very, very valuable. So feel free to think in those terms, test it out, see if it makes you feel any better. Because sometimes it can be very helpful to think in a, in, in that context because again, it shows you where you started from, where you want to go to, and it gives you a sense where you're at in that process. That can be very helpful as opposed to just picking a, you know, just pointing to the number of weight you lost, which is really, at the end of the day, just a number in the air, you know, Question here. Navigating questions on tick tock's a little challenging. Chris says advice for staying motivated. Losing 1.4kg a week, down 15kg, but I still got months minimum to hit my goal weight. Crazy stress face. Yeah, I mean, again, in program yourself, then motivation's everything, you know, so in program yourself, then we follow the goal weight pyramid mindset, lifestyle eating in order for you to get control of your weight. And we, we start with mindset. It's the most important piece, in my opinion. And the very first thing we do in mindset is trying to figure out how to use my finger here, motivation. So motivation is really one of the most interesting things to me because it is literally the engine that drives the whole process. Your level of motivation is like the engine of your car. And so it's going to dictate your entire experience of the car. And for most people, most dieters that want to lose weight, if you're really honest with yourself, you're going to realize that you have no idea how to motivate yourself. Right. Let's be honest. If you're motivated, you're motivated, okay? You really don't know why, right? But if you all of a sudden your motivation starts to wane a little bit, if you're a typical dieter, you have no idea how to turn your motivation back up. That's a common problem for dieters. You get fired up and you're motivated and then all of a sudden it starts to fade and you can't keep going. It's the classic. It's the probably the number one challenge dieters face. And so again, in program yourself, then we start with motivation, because I think it's the most important thing. If you're not truly motivated, you're not going to do any of the work, you're not going to do any of it. If you're not really motivated, you're not going to get through the rest of the pyramid. So to me, motivation is the most important thing. And I find it very troubling that as important as it is, it's never really taught. And most dieters have no idea how to run their own motivation. They have no idea how to boost their motivation. So how do you do that? Well, you need to understand that there's a science of motivation, right? They have studied motivation scientifically and they have found there's two types of motivation. There's extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation. And intrinsic motivation's the real powerful one that lasts. So if you think about the motivation you have for your work, for your job, right, you might wake up late, you might wake up feeling not great, you might wake up tired, you still go to work each and every day because you're really motivated. If you're a parent, that's intrinsic motivation to take care of your child. Again, you wake up, you're sick, you're tired, you don't want to do it, you still do it because you're so motivated, truly, genuinely. And so there's areas of your life where there is a deeper motivation that causes you to show up and do those things regardless of how you feel, right? Then there's the motivation you have for your weight loss. And you're going to notice that that motivation is way lighter, right? It's there and then it's gone. It comes and it goes, doesn't last, then it disappears. And this is a problem, obviously. Now, part of the reason this happens is because when it comes to weight loss, you have been conditioned by the diet industry to only focus on your extrinsic motivation. So most dieters, when they think about Weight loss are thinking they want to look better. And if you think about it, in your lifetime, you have been exposed to millions of diet ads in your life, and almost every single diet ad that you've been exposed to has shown you a before and after picture. And what that's done is it's conditioned you to think about your weight loss goal visually, superficially, aesthetically, how you're going to look. But that's an extrinsic motivator. Again, it's motivating. I'm not saying it's not motivating. I'm saying scientifically, it's the weakest form of motivation. And that's why your motivation to lose weight is nowhere near your motivation to go to work every day or to take care of your child or to show up for your partner, or again, other things in your life that you're truly committed to. And so when it comes to weight loss, you've never learned how to tap into your intrinsic motivations to lose weight. When you do, all of a sudden, the weight loss motivation feels like the motivation you feel for those other things. It's way deeper, it's way more powerful. I literally just had this conversation with a client today working on shifting their motivation from wanting to look better, which you can keep. You. You keep wanting to look better. We want to keep that, but we're going to add to it. Wanting to look better is not enough motivation, folks. It's not. If you're overweight and you saying, no, Jim, I really want to look better, well, that's fine, but you're bullshitting yourself. If you're overweight and you think you're motivated at the highest level, I gotta say that's not true. Another way to put it real succinctly is you weigh what you want away subconsciously. I've never met someone personally overweight who couldn't do more. I know that sounds bad, but, but let's be honest. Most, most people are overweight because they try any better for a little bit, don't stick to it, and then quit. Most people are not overweight because they eat perfectly and they're overweight. So we got to be clear about that. And your behaviors follow your motivation. And again, most dieters have never learned how to tap into a deeper motivation, which again, is the equivalent of, you know, putting a, you know, 30 horsepower engine into your car. Right? The whole driving experience is going to be affected by that decision. And there you are with your weight loss motivation, with that 10 horsepower engine in your car, and you're wondering why you can't stick to things and why things aren't working and why you quit it and why you give in. And you blame your willpower. I blame your motivation, primarily. Then I blame your programming, but motivation first. So, again, I'm not trying to hold back at, well, how do you create that intrinsic motivation? Well, that's what we do in the program. I don't know. I mean, it's a whole lesson. And, you know, there's pages in the blueprint that you fill out to figure that out. But, you know, someone can sit here and teach a class, but you can go search up intrinsic motivation. You can research it yourself if you want, you know, but again, there's deeper motivation to tap into. So my big question, Chris, if I was coaching you, is I would say, well, why do you want to. What's going to happen at your goal weight? What's your motivation? So if you want to share what your motivation is, I'd love to hear it. I can almost guarantee it's going to be something that you want to look better, you want to wear something, you know, most likely I'll be healthier, which is a good goal, but it's just for most people, wanting to be healthier is very impotent goal. Right. It sounds good, it means a lot, but it doesn't really move you emotionally like the cookies do. Right. So if you share that, though, I can. I could go a little deeper into the motivation thing for you, which I'm happy to do. So, yeah, any questions you all have, feel free to ask them. I'm here to help you out. Malk says, do you suggest omad in morning or night for best benefits? I don't suggest omad really very often at all because I find for the vast majority of people, omad is one meal a day. I find one meal a day is a very stressful way to live for most people. And I especially find it extremely stressful for people that have been eating, you know, three to five meals a day to go to one meal a day. I find that they're gonna stress out and freak out. So I. I rarely would recommend one meal a day if. But at the, at the end of the day, program yourself, then really lives under the golden rule that there's no right or wrong, there's only what works for you. So if. If you do omad and you love it and you're just thriving doing it, and you're looking forward to living life, eating one meal a day for the rest of your life, then Then go ahead. Okay, that's the path for you. But I find for most people that's not the path for them. It's a very stressful way to live. And anything that's stressful is not going to be long term. And if it is long term, geez, there's going to be other negative consequences. So I don't really suggest one meal a day. And as far as morning or night, I don't really like that way of thinking because there's no difference between whether you do it at morning and night, relatively. And I think we got to get out of that mindset because I think dieting thrives with that. They're always trying to make their system so unique and specific. And so I'm sure there's probably a nighttime omad protocol out there, you know, that's got all the science behind it. If you only eat one meal a night at 6pm Then that's going to ask how you lose the maximum amount of fat loss. You know, if you did at 3:30am, one meal, you know, then that's the fastest way of weight loss. Right? And we hear that all the time. And so I just don't buy into that, you know. And so if you want to do one meal a day, I would, I would experiment, I would, you know, eat one meal in the morning for a couple days, see how that feels. Eat a meal in the evening, one meal a day in the evening for a couple days, and see how that feels. Because I think your, your experience of it and how much you like it or dislike those different times is probably going to be more important than any scientific, you know, factor of what time you eat and how many calories you're actually going to burn. I think thinking in that way, to me is really just getting lost in, in minutia that ultimately is not going to make a, a difference. Probably not the answer you expected, but I'm gonna keep it real with you. You know, from my perspective, you know, Chris says thanks. Yeah. Motivations is to look better, enjoy being me and my body, and feel more confident. Yeah. Okay, so, Chris, I mean, no offense, but that, that's literally every dieter's goal, right? Every dieter on here wants to look better, be more confident, you know, feel like themselves. Okay. But it doesn't do much. Right? Let me give you an example. Okay, let me give you an example. What I mean, if I said to you, Chris, I said, chris, when you get to your goal weight, I've got a briefcase here with, with $5 million in it. I Already paid the taxes, too. So it's 5 million cash, clean, free and clear. It's all yours. 5 million bucks yours. You get to that goal weight the day you get there. Here it is. It's all yours. Now just imagine for a moment that was real, and now think about the motivation you'd feel if that was real. If I literally had a cash 5 million bucks ready to go for just waiting for you here. Hey, Chris, how's it going? How's it going? Here, I got ready for you. If you can imagine that situation and notice the boost. If you feel a boost of motivation in yourself, that's how you know your motivation is not very good right now, because I feel that level of motivation. I don't know who's paying me 5 million bucks, but I feel as if someone is about to pay me 5 million bucks. I feel like I get paid a million bucks every day. I live on my path. That's how I feel. I genuinely mean this. I'm not bullshitting you. I genuinely. I love. Because it's not just a look thing. I love living the way I live. I love being the person I am. I love feeling how I feel. I love doing what I'm able to do so much that. That to me is as valuable as getting a briefcase with a million dollars in it. And so that's how I. That's. That's the story I tell myself about weight. Do I want to look better? Yeah, absolutely. But that's like this much of it. I'm directly connected. I could sit here and talk for literal hours about all the reasons I want to live at my goal weight and be the person who does. And so I appreciate what you said there. But you're going to notice that those motivate. I want to look better. That's it. There's no real vivid detail there. I want to be more confident. It's just words. You don't have real clear ideas of what that means or how that's going to show up in your life. So it's not that visceral. It's not that emotive. It's not that powerful. I want to enjoy being me. If I, if I pressed you on that, you wouldn't be able to describe what that means. No, you wouldn't. I know you wouldn't. I know it for a fact. I've been doing this. I've done over 6,000 private weight loss sessions. I work with very smart people. It has nothing to do with your intelligence. It has to do with the fact that you say words you've been saying, I want to look better, be me, and be more confident, probably for decades. It's not really motivating you. Sounds good. It should motivate you. I'll give you that. It should motivate you, but it's not motivating you. And so now let me talk about how I think about my weight. I think about my weight. Secondary. I think about so in program yourself. Then we take our goal weight and we. We wrap it in personal development. So for me, my main goal is not to weigh a certain number on a scale. My main goal is to be the best version of myself possible. What's that mean? Well, for me, that means I want to be energized. I want to wake up with a clear head. I want to be productive. I want to be able to focus. I want to feel good in my body. I want to look good. I want to be able to take pictures and be happy about it. I want to be proud of myself. I want to feel free. I want to feel energized. I want to feel good after I eat a meal. I want to feel in control. I want to feel passionate about this. I want to be the best version of myself possible. I want to be successful. I want to be confident. I want to show up. I want to let go of all the bullshit of being trapped by food. I want to be free. I want to be happy. I want to feel good in my own skin. I want to feel that I can trust myself throughout the day. I want to have strategies where I wake up and kind of naturally and automatically do the things that keep me at my goal weight. I want to feel in the flow. I want to be the best parent I can be. I want to show up for my kids. I want to be there in my life as long as I can. I want to live as long as I possibly can. I want to have energy. I want to have flexibility. I want strength. I want to be able to hike, get on the floor, play with my grandkids. Someday, if that happens, I want to be here for my wife. I want to be here for my family, my friends. I want to have adventures. I want to travel. I want to do cool things I could keep going on, but does that not motivate you more than wanting to look better, be my real self and be more confident that you could see their night and day? Right. And I've internalized them in a much deeper way than even what I'm just saying. But I hope that's starting to show you that you're living in a poverty of motivation. You all are. If you're not actively losing weight and you want. If you are overweight and want to lose weight and you're not actively losing weight, I promise you, the core issue you have is you're not motivated. You're living in a poverty of motivation. You do not have enough motivation to get the job done. You've got a hill you got to climb and you've got a 15 horsepower engine in your car. It ain't making it. I'm sorry to tell you this, but again, I take the no bullshit oath. I'm not here to you, I'm here to help you. And I'm not going to bullshit you and say, oh, no, you can do it. Come on, Chris. No, you can do it. Just. Just put your nose down. Come on, you can do it. No, you probably can't do it because you probably don't have enough motivation to get you there. You just heard my motivation. I just pulled that off the top of my head. I could literally go for hours. I've done a lot of work on my motivation, so I'm just sharing with you a couple things. There is a rock solid glowing orb in me of motivation that powers me through every day. It wasn't there. I created it. I helped my clients create it. You're going to tell me that you're going to be able to succeed without that glowing orb of motivation in you? I just don't know how that can work. How is your motivation not like the engine of a car? Explain to me how anyone can achieve something challenging without being thoroughly motivated. I don't know how it's possible. If you do, please share it with me. I'd love to know. I'd love to know how to accomplish big things. If you're not really motivated, but I don't think you're really motivated, I'm just going to be honest. But now, at least if you. If you agree with that, and you can agree or disagree, that's. That's your right. But if you do agree with that, if you say, you know what, he's right, I'm not as motivated, I'm not that motivated. Well, now you know where the problem is and now you have the opportunity to fix it. And that's a much better place than thinking you're as motivated up to here. And I'm just not sticking with. I'm just not getting the results, which is what most dieters tell themselves. Most dieters are bullshitting themselves so hard and they say, oh, well, I'm so motivated, I don't know why I'm not getting results. I say, okay, out of 10, out of scale of one to 10, how motivated are you? I'm a 10. I'm a 10, and I'm not losing weight. Not a 10. You're not a 10. I've rarely met a dieter who's at a 10. That's. I've never met a dieter's out of 10. That's not losing weight, personally. Do they exist? I'm sure, but I never met them, you know, so, hope that helps. Again, I am here to help you. I'm not trying to be a dick. I. I'm literally, I'm trying to help you. But. But this is a core issue pretty much every Dieter deals with. They. They think they're really motivated. They're not. And that's the kiss of death too, by the way. Because psychologically, when you think you're super motivated but you're not getting results, what happens is you start to think you're broken, right? You start thinking, I don't get it. I'm as motivated as I can be and I'm still not getting the results. I'm doing everything possible. I'm not getting the results. That's not true. That's not true. You're not doing everything possible. You're not really motivated. That's why you're not getting results. But good news, you can fix that stuff. But a lot of dieters are deluding themselves. They're doing everything perfect. I want everything right, and I'm not getting results. There must be something broken in me. Nothing's broken in you. You're just. You're not where you think you are, you know? That's the problem. Bookworm. Thank you. Yes. Bookworm did the review in the. The rainforest. Thank you. Yes. This book, again, this book is free. I'm giving this book away for free. You can go get this. You can go get this. Okay? Right now, it's free until tomorrow at midnight, okay? So go get this thing for free if you give a shit about your weight. Here's a motivation challenge for you, right? Let's find out how motivated you are. Here we go, folks. Everyone here listening. Let's find out how motivated you are. This book is probably one of the most profound books you'll ever read about weight loss. Is that true or not? That's for you to decide. But I'm giving it to you for free for the next two days, and you can look at it and See, but the question is, will you. Will you take the five seconds it takes to go to the place where people buy books these days and go get your version of it for free? Will you take the 30 seconds to go download your version of it and then go read it, or will you not? And that will tell you everything you need to know. Because if you don't have the motivation to go get a free book that could potentially change the way you think about your weight forever. And what if it doesn't? What if it doesn't? Who gives a shit? You're out five minutes of your time, right? Maybe you hate everything I write. You're out five minutes of your time. But I promise you, you will have learned at least something that will have made it worthwhile. But the question is, will you even do that? Will you even do that? Or will you be distracted before you're even able to go get the free version of this? And this is what I mean. You've got to start seeing yourself more clearly again. I'm not judging you if you're not, you know, you say, ah, it, I'll get the book some other. I'm not. I'd rather see another dance or a cat or some other video. I'm not judging that. That's fine, but start using language that says, you know what? I wish I could lose weight magically, but I'm not really that committed to it. That's fine, too. What I'm saying is get more accurate about where you're at, because if you are overweight, I can almost guarantee that you use this languaging that you've done everything, I've tried everything and nothing works. Bullshit, bullshit. And it's not your fault. Please understand, it's not your fault. We've all live in diet world, so your idea of doing everything is doing these stupid fucking diets, thinking like a dieter. You're doomed from the start. So I get it if you want to quit, it makes I get it. But you have to be clear in the terms of saying, no, I'm not doing everything. I don't really give a shit. I'd like to lose weight, but I really am not up to the work it takes. I don't really care enough. I would love if you'd start talking that way because at least it's more accurate and it highlights what the issue is, because a lot of people just skip that issue. They're not motivated. And so, okay, tell me what to do. I'll do anything. You know, many times dieters have told Me, Jim, just tell me what to do and I'll do it. I'll do anything. I just want to lose the weight. Are you fucking kidding me? How do you think we got to this point? No, you won't do anything. There's nothing wrong with that. But don't. Don't bullshit yourself. Don't bullshit me. You are not going to do anything. The, the reason you're overweight is because you. You won't stick and do with anything, which is fine, too, okay? But stop bullshitting yourself. You can't keep bullshitting yourself and expecting a big breakthrough. The bullshitting keeps you stuck, you know? So again, here's a simple test. Who's gonna go and download this book? It takes five seconds. I'm literally giving this book away. I gave it away because, hey, I don't even give a. I just want everyone to have this book. So, hey, take it. Take it. You know, and. But, you know, to me, it separates the wheat from the chaff. You know, I know a lot of people just don't really care that much about weight, and that's fine. I don't give a. I don't care what you weigh. I don't care what you weigh. You know what I mean? I'm not judging you. I want you to weigh whatever you want. I'm here to help you weigh what you want to weigh. But I think most dieters are walking around and they don't like what they weigh, but they don't really care that much. You know, that's what I think. Tree says I'll probably always eat a snack at night. Just trying to focus on a healthier snack. Yeah, there's great trees. There's nothing wrong with having a snack at night. Very rarely is, like, the food the problem, you know, it's. It's usually the behavior. So, you know, you can still have a snack at night, but you can optimize it, and that's usually a better path for most people. Harriet says, as a new person here, I'm focusing on listening to your sessions. More sleep and more water. And Harriet's in the program, too, so she's speaking about something very specific. And great job, Harriet. Again, if you consistently do those things in a comfortable, enjoyable way, I promise you the changes are going to start happening. Okay? So that you're. You're at the point now, you just kind of started. So now it's about kind of internalizing this routine. The rhythm of the program, the rhythm of program yourself. Then there's a couple different components to it. But one of the core components of it that you kind of go through for eight weeks is every morning you get a new five minute session hypnosis session with a different mantra in it. And every week you get a nighttime core session that's 10 minutes long with a core weight loss mantra in it. And so every morning you listen to your new session for five minutes, start your day, relax, calm with good stuff in your head. And at night, ideally, you'll listen to that session repeatedly for 10 minutes. You kind of bookend your day. And so that alone starts to transform you because it allows you to tap into a relaxed, calm, peaceful, present, grounded state for five to 15 minutes every day. Just that alone is helpful. And then on top of that, you're putting all these wonderful ideas into your mind so you start thinking differently. Then on top of that, you know, you learn how to use the program yourself, then technique. So again, Harriet, we want to make sure you're saving 30 to 60 seconds to do that rehearsal technique at night, crucial. And then after that, you start picking away at the blueprint. You know, your, your goal weight blueprint. You customize it for you and you create the strategies and plans and roadmap for you to get to your goal weight and stay there. So great job, Harry. Again, proud of you. Taking action and it loves carbs. Love the money analogies. Really impactful. Good. I'm glad. Yes, I like making analogies with different areas so that we can see things differently. We've been so brainwashed with weight loss in this cult culture. We've really been brainwashed by the diet industry and we've never really gotten a fair shake at how do you manage your way genuinely in this modern world? We don't really get that very often. And that's what I'm attempting to do here. Lois says, love the book. Thank you. Yes, this is the book Lois is referring to. It's really good. I don't know what to tell you. I, I think it's really good. But why would you ever believe the author? Of course they think it, but a lot of people are telling me it's really good. It's a, it's. I think it's unique. You know, it's just, it's meant to be something that changes you as you read it again. Every chapter is a page two pages long, quick, easy to, to get it into your mind and it just, it changes you while you read it. If it doesn't, it's free, who cares? But I'm telling you, this could literally, I mean, this book. You'll never, ever read a book about your weight that's like this. I. I guarantee you it's one of a kind. I know. It's because Program yourself into one of a kind of. I just want you to read. That's why I wrote this book. I wanted to make. I know. Listen, Program Yourself, Then is not for everyone. It's not for most people, to be completely honest. Program Yourself, Then is not for the masses. I'll be crystal clear about that. Program Yourself, Then is an approach to weight mastery and management built for people that are overthinkers, overachievers, perfectionist, action takers, that type of person. Okay, So I know that. But this book is built for literally anyone that wants to lose weight ever. Okay? It's just. It's easy, enjoyable, powerful, and you can get it today. Okay? It is free today and tomorrow, and that's it. After that, it goes back up. So if you want to get this, go grab it. Go grab it at the place where people buy books these days. Starts with A. Ends with Zahn. Lynn says, I bought this brilliant book yesterday. It's definitely a book I will keep going back to, though I'm not having trouble losing weight steadily. Your book is very supportive. Thank you. You're welcome, Lynn. Yeah. So there it is again. I just. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. You know, what do they say? You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink? You know, I don't know what else that can do here. You know, I wrote this book especially because I know, listen, it's an investment to work with me, whether. Whether it's privately or through my programs. It's a big investment. I get that. This thing's free. It's free. And it's literally everything in my brain put into a simple, accessible format. So check that out. The Rainforest site. That's where you get it. I gotta talk in code because Tick Tock will ban me. They don't want me sending people off to other places. So, again, you know where a lot of people getting books these days. You gotta go there. Gina says your podcast motivated me so much in the beginning of 2024, I lost £100 by December 2024. Holy. That's a lot of weight loss, Gina. Nice job. Proud of you. Holy crap. That's a lot of. That's a lot of effort. That's a lot of work. Nice. Nice work. All right. And so. Yeah, keep it up. Right? So. So I'm Assuming you. You kept it off over 20, 25. If you did, that's quite. Quite an accomplishment. Nice job. Nice job, Gina. And thanks. Let me know. Lisa says, I looked up the book. Is it only available on the place that starts with a. Is another word for a rainforest? Yes, it is only on there right now. And that's the. The version you can download is their format. That sounds like Wendell, but it's. You can get that format. Oh, some sellers call it the River. Okay, I get that. I like that. So, yeah, the river. I. You know, it's funny, I did look this up and I forgot them all, but I was like. I looked up, like, how to talk in Code, and I don't know why I did it because I forgot all of them. But, yeah, the river, the one named after the rainforest, that's where this book is right now. For free. You can get it. Literally, you can click the buy for $0. Now download it. I will say, if you're doing it on your phone, you will have to get the app that goes with it. The. Does the AI. I don't know, does it. The window. The Window app. But. But replace W with K. Can the AI figure that out? I don't know, but that. That's the version you can get for free right now. So you can go grab it and start reading it by the end of this podcast, you know, it's instant, so. And then you'll have it forever, too. It's free, and once you grab it, you'll have it forever. So even if you can't read it right now, go grab it while you can, you know. But yeah, if anyone's got any questions, feel free to ask them. Yep. Harriet says I fit that description. Overthinker, Perfectionist. Yes. That is, the majority of my clients are overthinkers and perfectionists. And so we need a. Well, I don't say we need, because I think everyone needs a different plan, because dieting doesn't work for anyone. But Program Yourself Then is specifically built for you. If you're an overthinker, you're up in your head all the time. Program Yourself Then is literally built for you because I'm an overthinker. So I built this program for myself initially. This is the exact same approach I use to drop over 50 pounds and keep it off over 30 years. So that's where it started. And I was so amazed at what I was able to accomplish that I. I just. This became my mission, you know, but it's. It's literally built if you're an overthinker, don't think that that's the problem, that's the solution. If you're an overthinker, you're really lucky. You've got this hyperactive brain that's like a super sports car. The problem is you just never learned how to use it. And that's what program yourself and really does. It shows you how to use your mind. And if you have an overactive brain, it's a real benefit in this, in this arena. But again, it's one of those things that's really, it's a double edged sword because it's like with great power comes great responsibility. And if you've never learned how to use that responsibility, you can use it against yourself. And that's what I find most overthinkers and perfectionists do with their weight is that they, they actually use their mind against themselves. And I'm not gonna go in all the ways they do it. But we're always programming ourselves. We are all our own best or worst hypnotist because we're always in our head talking to ourselves constantly, you know, so that is true. Anyways. All right, I'm gonna get out of here. Jessica, you are welcome. Yes. Okay. Jessica just downloaded it. So it was that quick. This is what I'm saying. So I'll give you one last shot. Go grab this. If you are interested in getting under control, you can go get it at Amazon. It. I'm out of here. So it's like, go grab it from Amazon, download your Kindle version for free. You can go get it right now for the next two days and then it's gone. Then it's going to cost you money. So if you take 2 seconds and download it, you'll have it for the rest of your life and you'll never have to pay for it. Otherwise you're going to suffer the fear of regret and then you're going to have to, you're like, oh my God. Everyone's talking about the dao of living at your goal weight. I went to work and everyone's reading this thing. Everyone's talking about this. And I didn't get it when it was free and now I got to go buy it and pay for it. Is that what you want? Is that the life you want to lead? The one that misses out on getting the free version has got to go and pay for it because you're got the fear of missing out. All your friends, all your family, everyone's talking about this book. Everyone's talking about reprogramming your mind. And here you are, the one who didn't grab the book for free. They got to go to Amazon and buy it. All right, there we go. And so if you don't like books, though, I also give you a free hypnosis session. You can click the link in my bio. If you're on Tick Tock, just click my picture on the top and you go to my bio. Click the link in there. It'll bring you, take you 30 seconds. Sign up for the hypnosis session. Get that. Or you can go to program yourself then.com and you can get the the free hypnosis session there as well. And check that out. Get My World. So and I am here every Monday through Friday. So every Monday through Friday, I'm here usually around noon Eastern. I'm here to answer any questions you may have and help you in any way that I can. If you like listening to this and you can't make the lives, this is also a podcast. You can go to any podcast platform search program yourself. Then it'll pop up and you can listen to this anytime you like. All right? And then you may be like our friend. What was her name? Give her one last shout out because what an accomplishment. You can be like our friend Gina, who listens to the podcast and was motivated enough to drop over £100. So, all right, everyone have a super duper day and we will talk soon. Bye.
