Nudging Yourself in the Right Direction

Jim Katsoulis explains how small nudges, not willpower or diets, build lasting habits. He contrasts the negative focus of dieting with a goal-weight mindset, shows how subconscious patterns work, and walks through concrete examples like stacking habits and measuring progress.

It. Foreign. Welcome to today's program yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about nudging yourself in the right direction. Again. Before we get into the specifics of how to do it, we gotta talk a little bit about the mindset. And the idea here is that as opposed to changing everything all at once, which is kind of the dieting philosophy, right? Dieting, you're going to start Monday, and everything's going to be different. So there's no nudging. There's just a 100%. This is what I do now. Okay? So that's one way to go about it. And I will let you decide how effective that is. But the alternative to that is that we start consistently looking for ways to nudge ourselves in the direction we want to go in. And so instead of thinking of, like, one dramatic shift of 100% in our behavior, instead we start looking at what we typically do, and we start looking for strategic ways to gently and comfortably nudge us in the direction that we want to go in. Right. And when we approach it this way, I think it's a much better system for influencing our behavior because most humans find it very difficult to change everything all at once and keep that up, because humans are meant to live on pretty much autopilot. You're living on autopilot. You're doing what you did, and you're doing most of it kind of automatically. And so the idea that you're going to be able to just one day change everything really goes against human biology. Your. Your brain is really not designed to consciously think about every little thing you're doing all day long. For most people, that's pretty much impossible. And, you know, as you try to do it, you're probably going to find that you get really frustrated and annoyed because you're not built to do that. You're not built to be aware of every little thing you do. It's estimated we make over 200 food decisions a day. So it's very difficult with all the other things you have to think about and focus on in life that you're able to 100 concentrate on those 200 decisions without burning yourself out. So if you've ever wondered why you've struggled to change all of your reading in one day and maintain that, which is to say, I start out strong, and then I can't keep it up, that's probably why you're trying to do too much. You're trying to change too many things all at once, and it is overwhelming you. Okay. It's kind of like if you took off golf and you say, I'm gonna practice my driving, my putting, my short game, my mid range game, my chip shots, my sandwich, I'm gonna do all it all at once. Well, you can't. It would be great if you could, it'd be cool, but you can't. And so you gotta be strategic. So if you buy into that concept of the value of strategy in changing your behavior, then you very quickly end up on the side of nudging yourself. The idea that we're not gonna change everything 100% all at once, what we're going to do is we're gonna systematically implement nudge strategies into our day to day life that gently nudge us over in the direction we want. Okay? So that's the basic framework and now we get into the specifics of it. Now that's the key word is specifics. Because let's just say, for example, I want to drink more water, okay? So if I want to drink more water, what I'm looking to do in my mind is I'm looking for little opportunities to nudge myself to drink more water. And once you start thinking this way, you start breaking things down into very small pieces. So a dieter or someone who decides they're going to be healthy, starting tomorrow, new year, new me, I'm going to start drinking more water. Well, they consciously are saying I need to drink eight glasses a day, two bottles a day, I got to drink this. And they're trying to consciously think about it and do it. And what happens to most of those people is they will do that for a couple days, maybe a couple weeks, and then it'll fade away. Nudging yourself is the opposite. It's where we're looking for subtle little things. So, for example, as I've started to develop my water habit, I started to notice it really relied on little subtle nudges that I was getting. So, for example, I started to notice that if I didn't take my water bottle and put it by the sink the night before, I would probably just completely forget about it and not drink any water during the day. If I started to take my water bottle and put it by the sink before I went to bed, the chances of me filling this water bottle up and drinking it the next day shot up exponentially. Okay, so this is an example what I'm talking about. It's the opposite of dieting. It's breaking things down into micro nudges that start to gently nudge you in the direction so you naturally and automatically do the things you want to do. You see, it's the opposite, in my opinion, of willpower. Instead of having to remember to drink water and fill my water and just do it, what I'm starting to look for is the routine and ritual of drinking water so that it happens naturally. And so if I put my water bottle by the sink, I see it subconsciously, it triggers the water habit, you see. So just by nudging myself to think about water, my chances of filling up that water bottle and then moving forward with the water drinking habit go way up. And this is the idea of nudge in a nutshell. In my opinion. It's looking for the smaller things. If you want to start working out, a lot of times it's not just getting yourself to work out. A lot of times it's what am I going to wear? Am I going to remember to bring it to work with me? And it's so it's taking your workout clothes, putting them in a bag and leaving them in the car and leaving on the front seat so you see them. So it reminds you, and you have to think about that. So it's starting to think of, like, little nudges that gently guide you in the direction you want to go in. But when you start thinking that way, you start stacking nudges up. Okay? And so not only do I have a water habit, you know, that starts basically in the morning if we want to. I guess technically it starts the night before by putting the water bottle by the sink. But then it starts in the morning. I see the water bottle and I fill it up. Then I finish my breakfast and I drink a good amount of water. Then I take my water bottle and I bring it to work with me. Then I put it exactly where I put it the same day, every day, because I have trained myself to drink, grab it from there and drink it. And then I bring it in home with me and I fill it up. So again, I have all these little nudges for the behavior that guide me along the way. And I've done this with all my habits and all my eating. Um, does it take a little bit longer? I would say probably, but it lasts a lot longer. Do you understand? Because I've got these little micro nudges set up that. That aren't a big deal. Is it a big deal for me to bring my water bottle from the sofa to the. The sink? It's not a big deal at all. I may forget, you know, in. In service of creating that habit, but it's not a big deal. It's not hard to do. And so the nudges are really, really simple things. Sometimes it's just visual, visual cues. Um, it could be preparing something, it could have be having a plan, but it's breaking things down into smaller pieces that make it easy and comfortable for you. And that's the main thing, is that when we start setting our success up around nudges, it just feels a lot easier and comfortable than trying to change everything all at once and forcing ourselves to do it through willpower. So give this some thought and start to think about anything you're working on. You can apply to literally anything, from eating to new habits. But start thinking breaking it down, and start to think of little ways you can nudge yourself to think in a way that's going to cause you to do the behavior you want to do. And I think you're going to be surprised that when you start to do this, it really opens you up to a brand new way to start changing how you think, how you feel, and ultimately how you behave. All right? And if you want to go deeper into this, make sure that you want to go get the free hypnosis session I give you. If you click the link in my bio or if you go to program yourself, then you get a free hypnosis session. And I will unmute myself off TikTok and let you know that this book is free today. Okay? This book's free. So you can go to the place where you get books online and you can go get it for free today. Today's the last day. All right, so here it is. The Dow Living Year Goal Weight. One of the best. One of the best books I've read. I wrote it. I'm a little biased, but this is something else. Okay? I think it's really good, you know that you can get this book for free and read it. Because if you care at all about your weight, this is definitely something that you may want to get. Okay. Because it could change your whole relationship with it, food, yourself and your body. So if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I'm feeling on top of the world. I finally got my office cleared out and set up halfway. My desk is done. My desk is set up and oh, man, I'm just feeling, feel on top of the world. I always like to do this, like the last day of the year so that I step into the new year that way. But it just didn't happen this way this year. So I had to go to plan B. But oops, but it is here now. And it is exciting. Yeah. Where can you get the book? I can't say it because if I say a tick tock will ban me. So, you know, where do you get books? You know, the first thing that pops in your head where people typically get books these days? That's the place. All right. And you can get the free Windle version. I don't know if it catches that, but anyways, yes, here it is. You can get it. Get it now. Get it today. It's going to go away, it's going to go up in price tomorrow. I can't stop that. It is what it is. You only get five days of freeness on. I almost said it. The old. The river. Right, The. The rainforest, however we want to describe it. So, yeah, go get it. Even if you don't read it, you can grab it and then just keep it. Right. You'll have it. You'll want to read it, though. I'm telling you. I'm getting a lot of good feedbacks to it. Wait, what's going on here? Oh, let's see. I was cleaning them on my desk, but I turned all my electronic stuff off, so nothing's working. So hold on a second, because we just got a question. I see Mozzarelli says no soda or alcohol. Well, I don't agree with that. You can absolutely lose weight drinking soda and alcohol. Okay. Does it make it harder? Is it going to slow it down? I believe so, you know, but I drink alcohol, I lost weight, and I live in my goal weight for 30 years. So what I don't like is these. One size fits all these. These absolute. There's a million ways to lose weight. There is a million ways to live at your goal weight. You know, And I don't like these kind of blanket statements because rarely are they true. Right. So don't agree with that. Jenny says. I just started reading this book, One Small Step Can Change youe Life the Kaizen Way by Robert Mauer. It's exactly this Kaizen, taking tiny steps and eventually achieving huge changes. It's making real sense to me. I've always been a sprinter rather than a marathon runner when it comes to weight loss and just running out of steam. Yeah, exactly. Jenny and I know exactly you're talking about. I studied that business school, especially when I was in school, Kaizen and the whole Japanese way was really hot there. So. Yes, but it just makes sense, you know, And I think what we've been sold with weight loss in this culture is dieting. And dieting is the opposite of that. It's just changing everything all at once, and it just doesn't work, you know? What's up, bookworm? How's it going? Driving and listening. That's not bad. Cena says. Does it make it hard for you as a person who talks, thinks, and does videos about weight loss and dieting? I'm not sure what you mean. What. What makes it hard? Does it make it hard for you as a person who talks, thinks, and does videos about weight loss and dieting? I'm not sure what would be hard. Oh, to. There you go. I followed it. To not think of food obsessively. Job is thinking about this all the time. Is your job? No. Great question. Because. And this is a great point, and this. This brings up one of the fundamental aspects of hypnosis, is that we have a conscious and a subconscious mind. And the conscious part of our mind is logical and rational, knows what to do, why we should do it. It's where your willpower is. It's the part that tries to get you to do it. And your subconscious mind is the part of your mind that runs all your habitual thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Okay? So really, at the end of the day, your subconscious mind is the part of your mind that's really in control. And one of the big things to understand about your subconscious mind is it does not understand negatives. Okay? So if I sit here and tell you, get your all your willpower together and don't think about what I'm about to tell you. You got it? Okay. Don't think about a banana. Don't think about a yellow banana. And when I say that, did you not think about a yellow banana or did a banana pop into your mind? Okay, so that's what I mean. The subconscious mind doesn't understand negatives. Now, dieting is built around a negative. It's built around wanting to lose weight, which is a negative. Right? Because basically your whole weight loss is built around a negative. It's weight loss. I don't want to be overweight anymore. And part of that is that I don't want to keep eating the wrong foods. So diets are really about not eating the wrong foods and not being overweight. And so right off the bat, this is very confusing for your subconscious mind because your subconscious mind is very literal and it does not understand negatives. So most of the time when you're all dieting, you're imagining yourself being overweight and saying you want to lose weight, but you're picturing and imagining you're anchored to your overweight self. And you're always thinking about the foods that you shouldn't eat or don't want to eat to lose weight. And so dieting obsesses you on the exact wrong things to get the results you want. So in program yourself then, we don't focus on weight loss. Primarily, we focus on being at your goal weight, living at your goal weight, being the person who lives at your goal weight, easily, comfortably, enjoyably. We focus on the foods you want to eat. We focus on the unhealthy, ultra processed, fattening foods that you eat too much of, and we focus on eating them more moderately, more in control, so you can live at your goal weight. How can you have your cake and your body too? So you see, what I'm doing is I'm always focusing on what I want. So, no, it is not hard at all. Every time I'm talking about weight, I'm talking about living at your goal weight, I'm talking about eating the foods that support you. So the more I talk about it, the more I program myself to think about myself at my goal weight, to think about the foods and the way of eating those foods that keeps. Brings me there and keeps me there. But you see the difference. That's a fundamental difference psychologically from a diet. And this is one of the core reasons why dieting doesn't work, is that dieting is literally subconsciously fixating you on what you don't want. The body you don't want, the person you don't want to be, the food you don't want to eat. And all of dieting is focusing on what you don't want. And that's why you keep getting more and more and more and more and more of it. Whereas program yourself then, is about focusing on what you do want. And the more you focus on what you do want, the more you get it. You dieters are not focusing on what you want. No, you're not. You're saying you want to lose weight, but you understand that lose weight is a. It sounds positive, but it's not, because it's about. It's about an absence. You're thinking of yourself being overweight and you're saying, I want to not have this overweight body. That's a different thing than saying, if I tell you not to think about a banana, it's different than me saying, I want you to think about an orange. Do you see the difference there? Like, I hope that makes sense because psychologically, I'm telling you, this is dooming a lot of people that Want to lose weight. So, no, it just helps me more and more when I do it. What's Dow Dow is. Is. So this book here, which is free right now, today. So go grab it if you're. If you're even remotely care about your weight. Okay? This book's a game changer, so ignore it at your own peril. But whatever. But. But Dow the Dow. Still trying to figure out the mirrored videos. I flipped this over and I'm still struggling with it. The dao is basically. It's an Eastern philosophical concept, and it's basically the way. So translated means the way. But the idea is that the dao of living at your goal weight, the dow to me represents not fighting and struggling against yourself to lose the weight and living your goal weight, but to work in harmony with yourself, with your environment to get the results you want. And so the Dao de Jing was really just a huge, huge book for me. For years I was reading that every night, and it's just so much wisdom in it. But that inspired me to write this book, and it's even written in that style. So this book is 40 chapters. Each chapter is a, you know, two pages, three pages. It's short, easy read. But the goal is that each chapter is a hypnotic story and it sticks with you. And the goal is that it kind of shows you how to flow with your mindset, your lifestyle and your reading into getting to your goal weight and then staying there, you know? But again, this is. This is free. This is free today. Today. That. Today's the last day. Okay. So unless you want to pay for this, you know, you can get it today for free at the place where people get books. It's called the dao of living at your goal weight. So you can go to that. Oops. I'm not gonna say that. I gotta be careful what I said. I want TikTok to restrict me today. Yeah. Jane, if you want to get a copy of this, you can. You could certainly order a physical copy. Okay. I'd suggest waiting till tomorrow because it'll be a little less. It'll be less expensive. Um, but yeah, you can order physical copy too. Okay. That costs money. But I, I would, you know, here's what I'd suggest. Go get the digital version, read it if you like it. I would suggest buying the physical copy. I think the physical copy. I'm a bias, though. I. I like physical copy books, but I definitely that that's what this book was designed for. This book was designed to put, you know, on your coffee table. In the bathroom, you know, in the car somewhere where you just kind of grab it and read it randomly. You know, you can open up to any chapter and kind of learn something and it'll kind of help you. Yeah, sorry. Ocean eyes. I know not everyone's from the U.S. i've heard people I, I don't know, you know, it's like, I know it works in America, so you'll get it, no problem, easy peasy if in America. But I've just heard different stuff from people. You know, I've had some people in the UK say they can get it, some people can't, and just. It's been the same way in Canada, Ireland, Australia. So I, I apologize. I don't know why I, I don't know. Some people are saying they're getting and some people saying they're not. But again, here's the book. If you want a digital version for free, email me at Jim Program yourself then dot com. You know, if you can't get the version, get the version that I'm talking about, you know, but if you can't, email me and I'll send you a PDF of it. Okay, so you get a free version of it. But yeah, I apologize for that. I don't know, you know, I, I, this is my first time with the book and, and you know, all that stuff. But I, I, so I've never done this special before, but it, it does seem to be screwy if you're not in the U.S. i know there's people that are having issues with it, but then again those, there's other people telling me that they got it, so I, I just don't know and I apologize. But kind of what it is, that's why I like selling my own stuff. I, I sell my own, so I use my own payment processor. I, I'm much more pre for this case here. You know, getting these things printed up is a pain in the ass. So it's way easier going through that place to get these printed up and sent out to you. So anyways, but you can get the free version today. So if you go over there, you can get it. And over there is the place that, what do some people call it? The river, the rainforest. You know, I can't say the word because they will restrict me on TikTok. They don't want anyone leaving. Shelly says looking forward to paying for the physical copy. All right, me too. And I say I again, it's the, you know, I mean, I, I didn't write this book to make money you know what I mean? Like, I'm not making money off this thing. I think it's just a great. The reason I wrote this book is to me, it really explains the. The. The Program Yourself then system in. In a very accessible way. Program yourself. I mean, it's complex, you know, Program Yourself then, in my opinion, is a holistic, comprehensive approach to changing your weight. And so, you know, anything that's worth taking on, in my opinion, is going to, you know, take some effort and energy, you know, learn to play guitar. It takes a little bit, right? You just can't just learn it. There's no tricks. I just got to do the work. And so Program Yourself then is like that. But this book I wrote, so it could just be, in my opinion, all the best ideas in a really easy and accessible form. And I wrote it too. You know, honestly, my first reason I wanted to write it was for people in the program because it's just another way to. It installs a lot of ideas. They're hypnotic stories in here. And what that means is that the stories, as you read them, are changing how you think. They're. They're literally designed to change your brain wiring. So you start to think and feel and act differently naturally. That's the goal. And so, you know, I. I wrote it as. As kind of almost, you know, companion to the program, you know, but. But also, even if you've never been in the program, you know, these stories are written for someone who has no. No idea. Program yourself then never read it before. Just start reading these stories. It's all there for you. Here's another thing too, though, actually. Just got the old new blueprints. This is another part of the program. Program yourself then is the goal weight blueprint. Now, this thing's not for sale to the public, but this. We got the new. The new updated logo version. We got the new new logo program yourself thin logo. I think it's looking pretty sharp. And again, what we follow and program yourself then. Yeah, you sell it. Look at that. That beauty. New logo. We follow the goalway pyramid mindset, lifestyle, eating. And this book here is about customizing that roadmap, customizing your mindset, lifestyle and eating. Filling these questions out. So you have your blueprint, you know, basically becomes a blueprint. You follow to get to your goal weight and then stay there. Yeah, everyone says, but I don't have. I don't have the. The place where a lot of people get books sometimes referred to as the. The rainforest or the river. If you don't have that Format that rhymes with Bimble. You can download the app. So if you got an iPhone or Android, you can download that Bindle app and you can get it. So you don't, you don't need to have the actual device, you know, that they use. You can download an app and get it, and it looks pretty good on there. I also like a physical copy, to be honest. Yeah, me too. I, I love physical stuff. I'm definitely, I read a lot and I, I, I'm not a fan of E readers. I just, I've tried them and I just, I keep preferring the books. I like the books and, and I definitely like this book. And this feels just nice. I was saying this over the last couple days, but there's not too many things in life that I've done and I'm just, like, thoroughly happy with. But this is what I would say. I am 100%, as far as I can tell, I've been 100 happy with. I look for Everything's just the way I wanted it. It feels nice. I love it. So anyways, you can get it for free, though. Anyways, go grab it over at that place where people get books and go grab it. Today's the last day, so you miss it today, you'll be paying for it. And you're gonna pay for it. You're gonna want this book. You start hearing about it, you say, damn, why'd I miss my chance? Why don't I take those two seconds and just go, go grab. Does help me too. So if you got any value out of this podcast ever, go grab it, because it helps me in the algorithm too, and more people will find it. All right, Amy, Amy says downloaded and bought it. Thank you. No doubt it's worth it. Well, yes, I, it's definitely worth it. I mean, there's no question if you care about your weight at all. I, I cannot imagine that you would not find this to be one of the best books about your weight that you've ever read in your life. And I don't say that lightly. I, I, this book is really the culmination of 30 years, more than 30 years of obsessively focusing on living at your goal weight. And I think that the way we're doing it at Program Yourself Then is unique and different, and I think it's all encapsulated in this year. So again, I would strongly suggest going to get this today because it's free. Who doesn't like free pay for stuff? Shelly says you give me daily positive vibes for living better Free. I just love a real book. Yeah, me too. Me too. Oceanized says, I have an issue. I can't get past that you mentioned before, which is eating without a screen. I've been struggling and I've come to a realization that I physically cannot sit down in silence without something. Yeah, but Ocean eyes. So what? So what? I've had this conversation so many times with people that, you know, it's like, especially the mindful eaters, they say, oh, you gotta eat mindfully. No, you don't. You don't have to eat mindfully. The problem with mindful or mindless eating most of the time is that you eat too much. Okay? But if I set aside, if I give you a certain quantity of food and you eat it mindlessly or mindfully, it makes no difference at all to your weight. Do you understand? The problem is that we get mindless with a big quantity of food and we eat all of it as opposed to if we're mindful, we'll probably eat less of it. Okay? But it's not the screen. It's not doing something else while you're eating. That's a problem. I regularly eat in a distracted way. I regularly eat looking at my phone or reading something or watching TV regularly. I'm right at my goal weight. So don't let that be the problem. Oceanize. Okay? It. Look at your screen. It does not matter to your weight at all. But what you want to pay attention to is the quantity of food you're eating while you're on the screen, okay? And so you know, if you're gonna eat chips, put them in a bowl or put them in a container so there's a set amount of them, and then eat them however you want. Now, if eating on a screen, you feel like you get the enemy, you didn't even taste it or anything, then you want to pay attention a little bit. But you can be more mindful on a screen even. You can pay attention to what you're eating more while you're on a screen or any other thing you're doing, okay? So don't let that stop you. Ocean eyes. Okay? Look at the screen. Do something. Let that go. And that's fine. It does make a difference. But then focus on the quantity of food you're eating and then. Then the quality as well. Yeah, you don't have to break that cycle. Oceanize. Ocean eyes. When I was playing around me or listening to an ab, and I don't know how I can break this cycle realistically. You don't have to Break the cycle. So there you go. Good news. You know, it's like, if it feels, I, I, that's what makes me crazy. You know, someone started this whole thing. I saw him. Right? Like, there's like no soda or alcohol, exclamation points, you know, and it's like, I appreciate the passion, but that's not true. You, you can drink alcohol and lose weight. You can eat on a screen and lose weight. You can drink soda and lose weight. You cannot exercise and lose weight. You got to free yourself from the diet constraints, you know, because they're always, they're always, I don't know, stressing us out. That's the point of diets, in my opinion. Diets, in my opinion, are just a branch. Just a branch. The diets are just a branch of the food industry. So they're not there to help you. So, yeah, Ocean, I says, noted. Thank you. I feel relieved. Yeah, I know. That's what I mean. If you all would chase relief and relaxation and calm and peace and centeredness more than rapid weight loss, you'd be shocked at what happens with your weight. You know, we stress ourselves out. Diets, again, are just built to stress ourselves out because diets aren't there to try and help you lose weight. They're there to stress you out and, and make you feel like a failure. So you just keep eating food and all the rest of it. So, yeah, so I'm glad you feel better. Oceanizing and I just focus on the eating part of it. Atifa says, I know how to lose weight, but I struggle how to start with it. I don't know where to start. No, you don't know how to lose weight. Most likely you just be honest. You know, I feel like a lot of people say, I know, I know what to do, I just need to get myself to do it, you know? But you probably don't know how to lose weight. And I'd stop saying that. You know, I'd say, okay, maybe you do not lose weight. I bet you don't. But you can start framing and say, I'm not sure how to start. And then you can acknowledge that with that statement, I'm not sure where to start. But then start asking solution oriented questions. How can I start losing weight in an easy and comfortable way? What can I do to kind of move myself in the direction I want to go? What's one thing I can do today to make myself feel a little more optimistic and hopeful? Do you know what I mean? I could just go on for hours, but that's the idea, you know, is that if you're struggling with a start, you know, start asking better questions. Because what you're saying is, I don't know where to start. You do know where to start. The problem is in your mind, you're thinking about. When you say, I don't know where to start, what you're really saying is, I don't know where to start my really extreme diet. I don't know how to get myself to start my really extreme plan, most likely. And. Or maybe you have no idea. You know, you said you know how to lose weight. So again, I'm going to guess that when you think about starting, you're thinking about starting something extreme. You're knowing how to lose weight is probably something like intermittent fasting, keto, counting points, restricting calories, and you can't get yourself to start it because it's extreme and uncomfortable for you. You don't want to do it. And so it's not that you don't know how to start, it's that you don't want to start that plan, most likely. Ocean. Ocean says, I felt like I cannot just in silence, being unproductive in that something was wrong with me. I mean, that's a different story. You know what I mean? Again, being able to sit in silence, you know, being unproductive, you know, But I mean, you know, that's almost a different thing. I don't know if you're talking about meditation or something, because, again, I think meditation is very valuable. I think sitting in silence, doing nothing is valuable, but it's not necessary to be happy and healthy, you know, but if you want to practice being able to sit quietly, calmly doing nothing, I. E. Meditating in my. That's what I describe meditating as. But if you want to practice meditation, it's something you practice, you know, and, yeah, you suck at it. And so you start with 30 seconds. You start with a minute just being quiet, just turning your attention inwards, calming down, and then you build from there. Yeah, you stink at it. So start small and work up to it and get more specific about what you're looking to accomplish. Patty says, I love your book. Thank you so much. Oh, you're welcome. I know. I'm telling you, this is something special. It really is. I'm telling you folks, I've been doing this a long time, and this has been something I really. Well, this one. I was in the process of writing a different book, and the idea for this book hit me like a bolt of lightning, and I'm like, dad, I'm doing that. And I just went all in on this one. Got it done in, like, two months. And it's great. I think it's free right now. So even if it's not great, it's not going to cost you anything to find out. I've got to move this wire. Oh, thank God. I changed my desk setup a little bit and I. I actually organized the wires, but one of the ways I organized the wires didn't organize it right now. Just looking at it the whole time, just. All right, feeling good. But yeah, back to the. Back to this thing. You can get it for free over at that place where people get books. You can get the digital version completely free until tonight, midnight. And then you'd have to pay for it. And you're going to pay for it because you're going to want this book. This book is something special I'm trying to tell you. I'm giving away for free. I don't know what else I can do for you. They say you can lead a horse to water, right? It'll take you literally 30 seconds to grab this book. You don't even have to read it now, but you'll have it. And if you start reading it, what you're going to find is information about your weight that you have never heard in your life. And I guarantee you of this, you have never heard these things in your life. I'm sure you heard some of them, but you haven't heard all of them. And in this way ever, in the history of your reality. You've never heard these things about your weight in your life. And once you hear them and understand them, it's going to open your mind up to a new way to approach your weight. And notice I didn't say your weight loss to approach living at your goal weight because again, we say living at your goal weight because it's focused on what you want. You don't want to lose weight. That's not your real goal. That's just a step towards your real goal. Your real goal is to live at your goal weight for the rest of your life on near autopilot. That's your real goal. And the scary part is you've never articulated it. You've never. You've never said that goal to yourself. You've been fixated on weight loss your entire life. But what would happen if you started to fixate it, living at your goal weight, and you got good at it and you were able to create the mindset, the lifestyle, the eating patterns of a Thin and healthy person customized to you. There is a way, folks. Okay? I know you've struggled with your weight, and I know they make it seem like there's no way to lose weight and it's impossible, but it is not. My whole program is built on people that have lost weight and kept it off for last two years. So I modeled success. I modeled the people who were getting the results that I wanted to get. I did not model the people that lost £50 in a month. I modeled the people that lost weight and kept it off for at least two years. That's who I modeled. That's what this whole book is built on. This. This here, this goal weight blueprint, this 144 pages of roadmap is built on those people have lost weight and kept it off for at least two years. You know, there's a pattern, there's a. There's a success. Leaves clues, as they say, right? And it's in. It's in these books. But this book's free. Okay. This book you can get for free today. Amy says. Oh, and hope you're planning audible version. Your personal delivery of the messaging is part of your magic. Thank you, Amy. I appreciate that. Yes, there is going to be an audio version and I don't want to get ahead of myself too much. I do this sometimes, but at the end of the day it's not so bad because I think sometimes I get ahead of myself and it. It pulls me in a new direction and it commits me to it. But I was thinking last night of some of the things I plan on doing with this book. One is absolutely audio version. I'm thinking probably next week. I was recovering. I wouldn't have been able to do it this week anyways. I don't know. I'm just going to check in real quick. Just as a human, I. This week here for me has been, I would say we in program yourself. Then we call this a re entry week, you know, because we've been in holiday mode and now we're back into regular mode. But I will tell you, I'm. I'm kind of dragging a little bit through the week. You know what I mean? I'm getting back into normal. You know, I enjoyed my holidays so much. But. But I've definitely. I got a lot going on too, you know, I mean, but I've definitely felt myself dragging a little bit this week. That being said, anyways, is that, yes, I will go and have an audio version of this available. And I don't know, I had an idea And I'm just going to throw this out as a general idea. I'm going to ask some different people with opinions I trust. But one of the things I was thinking about in the shower last night, I was like, wouldn't it be cool if I made a hypnosis session for. For these? Or if I made, like, an email series going along with it? So, I don't know. I was kind of kicking around. I love doing that. I don't know. I don't know. We'll see. But I will have the audio version coming up. That. That should be a couple weeks. We should have that. And I'm gonna figure out how to do that. I haven't figured that out yet. I don't know. Audible, Maybe some other option. I don't know. But I am going to. I am going to deliver it. That was a big part of how I wrote this, is in my mind as I wrote it. I was. It was like a hypnosis script. You know, I am a hypnotist. So as I wrote this book, their hypnotic stories, hypnotic chapters. So it's not just writing. I think that's what makes this book. One of the things that makes this book so unique. I think the information is just. You're never getting this information. A. But I think the way the information's delivered is very unique and intentional. It's written as hypnotic chapters, which means that I'm not just writing information. I'm looking to, as you read it, change the way that you think. So my goal. And actually, I've had this validated because people have told me this now. But as you read these chapters, the goal is that they stick with you. They stick with you, and they go with you throughout the day, naturally, automatically, comfortably. And that's how you create real change. All right. All right. Santina. I just. See, Santina just got her copy, right? So, again, this is free. This is free today. I'm giving it away. You got to go to that place where people get books, and you just search this title. It'll show up, grab it, and you're done. All right, you got it. And again, it's free today. It goes back up tomorrow. So if you want to get this, get it today, and I'll make a guess. I bet this will be the most profound weight book you ever read. I don't want to sound dramatic. You can test me out, maybe listen to me a while and say, okay, is this guy Jim for real, or is he full of. I. I just don't know. I just can't tell. Well, get the book and read it. If you think I'm full of, great, we just saved ourselves a lot of time. But if you read this book and it changes your life and changes the way you think about weight forever, then I'm not full of. I'm happy with that. I'll make that deal with you. But wouldn't it. You know, I said this yesterday. Don't get offended, but it's like, how much do you care about your weight? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you care? Now, I know you're probably thinking somewhere in the 910 range. Well, if you're in. If you just said 910 or thought 8, 9, 10, then you better go and get this book right now, okay? Because it's free. I don't know what else I can do for you. And listen, the hardest part is just going and clicking the link to get it and then getting it. Because once you've got it and you open it up a little bit that hour on the easy part, okay? Because the book's written to be easily read. It's. It's built to be open up to any chapter and there you go. It, it's, it's hard not to read it. It's. It's infinitely readable. And I'm just talking about the format. I'm not talking about the stories. The stories in here. I love them. I love them. Emotional Alchemy, that's one of my favorites. Should I read it? How long is it? That's a short one. Let's go for it. Right, Emotional Alchemy. So this is. And again, this book follows the whole program yourself thin system. So this is like. So for example, right? Emotional Alchemy is referencing and Program Yourself. Then again, this is the goal weight blueprint, right? This is for customers. This comes with the program, not the physical version yet. Now that's another story. Next week this book will be included with Program Yourself then the physical version, but it's also gonna be $200 more. So again, if you're interested in programming yourself thin the system, it is 297 right now. It will be that until Sunday night at midnight and then forever it is going up to 497. But you will get the physical stuff with it. But okay, so Program Yourself then is really built around this goal weight, pyramid, mindset, lifestyle, eating and mindset's broken down into motivation, self, image, habits, emotions, thinking, maintenance, emotions. Okay, so that part there, emotions is directly connected to the chapter on emotional alchemy. You see, I mean, like the whole books, it's related to the whole program itself, then, directly. But now you've got a story in your head to kind of conceptualize emotions. So, emotional alchemy, Turning feelings into fuel. Feelings arrive like weather. A storm of stress, a fog of loneliness, a downpour of anger. Most people run from them. They eat to cover the clouds. They snack. The silence, the thunder. But the sky does not clear. By hiding, the alchemist does something different. She does not fear the storm. She steps into it, knowing every feeling is energy. And energy can change. Stress becomes strength when met with breath. Loneliness becomes reaching out when heard instead of silenced. Anger becomes movement when allowed to stir in the body. Food cannot lead into gold. Wait, food cannot turn lead into gold. But you can, by turning emotions into guidance, into strength, into fuel. Each feeling is a messenger, a mentor. When you stop pushing feelings down, they can rise up to carry you forward. This is emotional alchemy. The power to move with emotion and let it lift you higher. So you get an idea what I mean, right? So it's. It's taking an idea. Oh, I could deal my emotions. But it's hopefully framing them in a way that sticks with you a bit, that moves you a little bit, and gives you an experience as you read it. And if you. The program too. Again, it directly relates to that. But even if you don't, you know, as you read these stories, they start changing you. So, Moira says, how's it go, Moira? Moira says. To make myself more optimistic and hopeful, I measured rather than weighed myself. My weight had stayed the same, but I'd lost inches. Moira, thank you for sharing that because that's a great lesson for people. I always recommend using as many measurement tools as you can. So again, measuring your weight with a scale is one way. Measuring your weight with a tape measure is another way. Use both of them. Measuring your success by how you feel mentally is another way. Noticing how you feel emotionally is another way. Noticing how you feel energetically is another way. The more things you pay attention to that are improving, the more motivated and kind of carried forward you're going to be. Great job, Moira. Adele says. Please share your email again for a PDF copy. Thank you jim@program yourself thin.com and I just. I'll put it right into the chat, but this is only if you can't get. Ah, there we go. Restricted on Tick tock. There you go. But yeah, you know what though? But at least I can just talk normal now. So who gives a. And I'm Almost done anyways. But, yeah, so go to Amazon. Go to Amazon and get this book. You got one day left. It stops at midnight tonight. This book's gonna cost money. But today you can go to get the Kindle version. Go get the Kindle version, download it. You'll have it forever, but you should grab this book. All right? And if you can't get. If you're in a different country and it's just not going through, you can email me. Jimmy, program yourself. Then I'll send you a PDF copy. But you can get this version today at Amazon. Amazon.com go buy the Kindle version. It's free. It's free today. And if you read it and like it, please leave me a review. It helps me with the algorithm. So go check that out. So Nancy says, where can I get this book? You can get it Amazon.com get it Amazon.com and go download the Kindle version. It's free today. This book is free today, and it won't be free tomorrow. So grab it, grab it, grab it, grab it. Oceania says no, I'm talking about eating while doing nothing. But I love meditation and sitting in nature. You don't have to eat and do nothing. That's what I'm saying. Why do you. Why do you want to eat and do nothing? What's the value of eating and doing nothing? You know, unless you have some other reason for that other than weight loss, I. I don't know what the motivation to want to do that is. And why fight again, you know, it's like you're picking something arbitrarily to be upset about, and who gives a. It doesn't matter. Oh, nice job. Nice job, Christina, on something sweet. Headed to the cupboard. Saw my apple. Done. Craving, gone. Nice job. All right. Yep. Santina just grabbed this version to her Kindle. Yes. This is free on the Kindle today. Go grab it. Yep. Adrian says yes, please, to the hypnosis sessions of the book. That would be awesome, wouldn't it? That. That would be a little bit of an undertaking, but it might be a valuable one. It's. I'm considering it because that. That would be a bit of an undertaking, and I'm not sure. I don't know if. If the value would be there, but maybe someday. But. But I'll definitely do the audio version. We will definitely have that. But, yeah, the hypno version would be sick because I could basically do a hypnosis session about every chapter in here. It'd be pretty cool. I may. I don't Know, but I got a lot of things ahead of that. So. We will see. We will see. Grace says, how do I deal with someone who constantly makes excuses not to lose weight? The way I deal with people that make excuses not to lose weight is I don't give a. I've got enough on my plate dealing with myself. So if people want to lose weight or not lose weight really is not my concern, and it's not my responsibility. And it's just. I don't know, I say. I say to people all the time, they say, what can I say to so and so to make them want to lose weight? I don't know. I don't know how you make someone want to lose weight. I've never figured that out. So if you all figure out how to make someone want to lose weight, please let me know. I would love to find out. So I've gone from realizing that to realizing that I'm not wasting any of my time trying to get people to lose weight. They either want or they don't. And I find that a lot of times, if you get obsessed with someone else's weight, you know, that says more about you than them a lot of times. So I know you care about them, too. I get it. So I don't sound like I'm a heartless person, but people are going to do what they're going to do. And a lot of times the more you start harping on them, the more it kind of entrenches them as well. So I personally now just. I do this for a living. So again, I. I don't talk about this in my personal life at all. You know, someone brings it up. I'm happy to, but would never, ever bring this up. You know, someone. People get to choose their weight. You know, it's one of the few real, genuine, true freedoms we have in life is we get to decide what we're going to weigh. And if someone doesn't want to lose weight, I. I don't know, you know, how you can make them want to lose weight or make. Stop making excuses or whatever. Ocean says. Exactly. Because a lot of health gurus demonize people who don't eat in silence. Yeah, exactly. Ocean eyes. And I think that's exactly right. And that's a pattern here, is that, you know, honestly, to live at your goal weight, one of the main things you got to do is stop listening to all the, you know, and. And again, you know, I model everything I do after Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee was a legit philosopher and martial artist. I Don't know if people know that he wasn't just a movie star. He was a legit martial artist. And he came up with a martial art card called Jeet Kune do, which I was lucky enough to study for a while. And basically the idea is he would study anything he could get his hands on, anything. I mean, study fencing. And so he would study any fighting system that he could find. He would take what works and discard what didn't. And so as we listen all these different, you know, influencers and sources of information, we've got to do that, too. We've got to kind of listen what resonates with us and works for us and discard the rest. There is no right or wrong. Program yourself, then. The golden rule is there is no right or wrong. There's only what works for you. And if eating in silence is such a big stress for you, I mean, who gives a. It just doesn't matter. Would it be better? I'm sure. But. But it. When you take into account the stress you're feeling and how it's sticking you, that's the key thing I'd be focusing on. Ocean's Eyes is it's a. It's got you stuck. Like, you're just so obsessed with trying to get yourself to eat in silence that you're wasting all that energy on something that you're probably not even congruent about. You probably don't even value eating in silence, which is probably the main reason. But regardless, it's not resonating with you, but you're trying to force yourself to do it, and you're wasting crucial energy that could be spent better somewhere else. Right? Yeah. But I'm glad of the way you put it. Seems pretty pointless now. It is pointless. Like I said, again, it's legitimate to focus on it because if you are mindlessly eating a lot with a big container of food, you're going to eat more of it than if you were mindful. Okay? But to be honest, even if you put a giant bag of chips in front of me, even if I was going to eat mindfully, I would put myself in that situation. So even if I was going to eat mindfully, I would put them in a bowl. Because I stack strategies. I don't rely on just one strategy. I stack as many as I need to do what I want to do easily and comfortably. All right? So, yeah, eating in silence doesn't boost your metabolism. You know, it's just if you're not. If you have an uncertain quantity of food that you have access to and are going to eat, then mindless, mindful is, is a factor. But if you have a set quantity of food you're going to eat, whether you eat that mindfully, mindlessly at a rock concert or in a monks hall is gonna make zero difference to your weight. Gail says it's a very easy read. Love it. Yes. Gail is talking about this book that you can get for free on Amazon. Download it on the Kindle. Even if you're down Kindle, you can grab the version, an app on your phone or iPad. You just download the Kindle app and you can read it. But again it's free and you can get it today for free over there. And this is it, this is the last day. So if you had any ideas of getting it, go grab it. Patty says I gained three and a half pounds last month and I am trying to turn it around quickly to get back to where I was. I'm sleeping well, drinking water, taking walks and eating normally. But it scares me that I gained weight after taking so long to lose it. Hopefully it will leave quickly without all the sweets of the holidays. Yeah, Patty, I get it. And it's like this is what you're working on, you know, and so relax. You gain more weight because you ate more because of the holidays, that's normal. And now it's not the holiday. So you're gonna eat less and the weight's gonna go back down. So you're in the right point of re. Recommitting, refocusing on the habits that, that allow you to do what you're doing. But put three and a half pounds, I put five pounds on over the holidays. It makes you feel any better, I don't care. I'm going right back to it. I'm not back there yet. This is a re entry week, so I'm kind of sliding. I think of things as a gradient, you know. So instead of a flip that I switch on New Year's Eve, I start gradually bringing myself back to my normal routines. And I'm kind of right in the middle of that, you know. So my eating this week isn't perfect, but it's never perfect. But it's not, it's not great, but, but the core things are there. My salads are back in place, my structured eating is pretty much back in place. Water, you know, things are just back in place more and more each and every day. And that's what I focus on now. And then, you know, next week or the week after, then I'll start really, you Know, optimizing what I'm doing, get back to my normal, normal thing. But that's completely normal, Patty. You've got to. I think, and I think this is what you're going to realize once the. That weight comes off. Is that a big part of living at your goal weight? See, living at your goal weight and losing weight are two different things, because losing weight is always just about losing weight, no matter what the situation. Living at your goal weight requires that we have different strategies for different situations. So, you know, for most people, when the holidays come, they're gonna go and you're gonna eat more food. Right. And there's nothing wrong with that. We don't want to demonize, Demonize ourselves because we're eating a little bit more during the holidays. But hold on a second. So, yeah, so that's completely normal. So. So good job, Patty. I mean, you're dealing with. With a normal. You're dealing with a normal part of weight. You know, they put a little bit on because it's the holidays or a vacation or some special thing, and then you go back to normal the way it's gonna come back down. So good job. That's what, that's what you're working on. Anya says, how can I get from Holland? Holland? I don't know. Try it. Go to Amazon and see if you can download it. I. I just. I keep hearing different things from people. They're like, I can't get it. Oh, I got it. I don't know. I don't get it. Jane Lacey says, how do I get the hard copy? Please, just go to Amazon. I'll give you the link to it even. Here we go. Hold on a second. Let's see if I can find this real quick. I'll just put the link right in the. In the thing. Yeah. And if you read it, if you could please leave me a review, I'd really appreciate it. That would be. I know, I know it's kind of pain in the ass to leave a review, but. But it'd be super appreciated. There you go. There's a link. You can go buy the hard copy if you. If you would, please, Again, you can wait till tomorrow, too, though, and it'll be a little bit cheaper. Not much, though, so if you want to get it, get it. Oceanized says, because I was so stressed sitting with silence that I just kept overeating. Exactly. Right. I mean, this is. This is the whole game. This is why I'm programming yourself thin. When it comes to eating, the first thing we work on Eating wise is awareness. That's what that says. Can't use my fingers. It says awareness. And so once you kind of relax and calm down and you pay attention to what's happening again, this is why we did the reading rehearsal technique. You would have caught this and fixed this on your own own in the program. But it's like when you. Instead of just like being caught up in what you're supposed to do, you step into what you're actually experiencing. And if you did that, ocean eyes, you kind of relax and say, wait a second. When I sit here and try to sit in silence, I'm getting so anxious, I'm eating more. You know, once you realize that, now you can work on fixing that. And the easy fix will be put some music on. I eat with music on pretty much every night and I just got a new speaker. It sounds amazing. So I'll be listening to music even more. And on top of that, I found my new favorite. My new favorite. What's it. What's actually called Serious. I'm losing all the track of all the. The app names, but Mom Jeans, that turns out my new favorite station. Mom Jeans. I like it. I like what they play so funny. Anyways, all right, I gotta get out of here. But. But here again, you can get this book for free. This is it. This is the last time you're gonna see this for free. You're gonna want this book, I'm telling you. You're gonna hear about it. Your friends are gonna be getting in there. Oh, yeah, this looks so good. And you're gonna be, oh, I should have got last week and it was free. All right, go get it takes two seconds. Go grab it over at Amazon. Click the Kindle version for free. If you love it, go order the physical version. I would say this book really, really, really shines. Physically. It feels awesome. It looks awesome. It reads awesome. I just can't get enough of it. So I hope you all get it and go do it. Moira says, I received my copy by email and I'm really enjoying it. I tried to leave a review on Amazon, but it wouldn't let me. I'm in the uk. Well, thanks for trying. I know people are reporting that. I don't know why there's little glitches and weird happening with it. Just a sign of the times, I guess. But I appreciate you trying, Moira. Thank you so much. Vicki says if you're in the program, you should be able to get the book, the hard copy for free, correct? No, no, I'm not sending all the books out to everyone. I'd be sending out, you know, thousands of copies. I won't be sending, doing that. No. So the hard copy is not for free. The hard copy costs money. So it will be in the future when people join the program, but the program will be 200 more. So I just want to make that clear. So it's like, if you're in the program, please understand that next Monday the program goes up to 500 bucks. But when it goes up to 500 bucks, you're also going to get the books. The physical stuff's going to come for free with it. Okay, but it's not free. You're paying, Paying more. So again, you can order this book on Amazon for like ten dollars starting tomorrow. I think it'll be ten bucks. You can order the physical version. But no, I, I couldn't send all these. I couldn't send physical copies out to every customer. I'd be shipping books for the next year. So, no, you have to go buy it from Amazon. But will I give you a free version of the PDF? Well, I mean, I gave you, I gave you the option to get the PDF for free. I'm giving you the Kindle book for free to everyone, you know, but I, I gave clients and customers option to go get the PDF last month. So, you know, again, hopefully you can do that. But, but again, if you want the physical version now, you gotta, you gotta pay the 10 bucks. I would be. I'd be sending you. Become a professional mailer. Yeah, social. Nice. Says, thank God I'm back to my routine and I'm losing. Yeah, good job, Good job. Keep it up. Vicki says. So the physical version is available on Amazon for $10 starting tomorrow, correct? Yes. And it may take a day or two, I don't know. But this, the physical version of this book will be available on Amazon for 9.99 starting tomorrow is what I hope. I, I don't know. I've come to learn that there's a little bit of a delay there. There's a little bit of weird stuff happening for a different country. So. But within the next couple days, this book will be 9.99 physical version. And I, I can't think of a better value, honestly. But yes, that'll be due to it. Joni says I'm new to your podcast. Can I get the PDF? Joni, go. Go to Amazon and download the download version. You don't want the PDF, right? The PDFs only. I'll send that to people that are in A different country that just for whatever reason can't get the Amazon book. But if, if you're in America, go to Amazon.com and it's free right now. You can just grab, grab the Kindle version. Even if you're not going to read it, just grab it. You know, you get it for free and you have lifetime access to it. If you're doing this on your phone, you mean you can order it in the Amazon app and then download it on the Kindle app. So you download a Kindle app and you can read it in there all free. It all takes two seconds. Okay. All right, very good. Yes. So again, get this book. It's last day. Grab it if you. Also, another free thing I'm giving you is the self hypnosis session I give you. You can go to my bio, you can click the link in my bio, go get the free hypnosis session I give you. It's called the new thingy. It's a kickstart session that's free too and that's not sold through Amazon. So I know how many issues getting that no matter where you are in the world. And if you like listening to this, I'm here every Monday through Friday US around noon Eastern. And if you can't make the lives, it's also a podcast program yourself then you can go to any podcast platform, search program yourself then and it'll pop up and you can listen anytime you like. Okay, so once again, this last time, I'll let you know, get this book if you want to get it. It is free at Amazon today. The Kindle version is free. You can get it, download it, have it forever if you read it. If you like it, please leave me a review. It helps me out and I would appreciate it. So all right everyone have a super duper day and we'll talk soon. Bye. It, It's.
