Program Yourself Thin Live 6-1-26

Jim Katsoulis argues that crash diets fail because they're unsustainable. Instead, he proposes tiny habit changes like drinking more water or taking short walks that compound over time. He offers a free hypnosis session called "The New Thin Me" to help clarify goals and build motivation.

Everyone, welcome to today's Program Yourself Thin podcast. Today we're talking about small steps to lose weight, and this is one of my favorite topics in the world to talk about because I think typically when you think about weight loss, you think about giant steps, and it's not your fault. You've been trained to think this way your entire life. Uh, the diet industry has conditioned you to think that when you're going to approach your weight, that you got to do something giant, right? You got to drastically cut calories. You have to count every calorie. You have to completely wipe out carbs or some other macronutrient, whatever it's going to be. It's going to be something huge, overwhelming, all-consuming. And I think this is the complete wrong approach if you truly want to change your weight long term. Now, if you just have to lose a bunch of weight by the end of the month, then maybe that other way is a better way. But to actually get the real results you want to achieve and to live those results, right? So again, it's not enough just to lose the weight. We want to keep the weight off. And in order to do that long term, the most effective way is small steps. Now, the good news about small steps, maybe the best news, is that They're not that hard to take. That's the point of them. Now, again, I'll give you that the results may not be as quick, as dramatic instantly, um, as when you change everything. What I want you to do is just step outside of your normal way of thinking for just a moment. Let's just zoom out on your weight loss for just a moment and consider your entire weight loss history. And I'm going to guess that 100%. Of the time you have tried to drastically change things when you have focused on your weight loss. And how long were you able to keep that up for? Now, what's popping up in your head is probably the 1 or 2 times you were able to stick to it for months and get some decent results. But I want you to remember all of the Mondays that came and went where you promised you were going to start your plan and you didn't. And each one of those Mondays that went by was another Monday that you weren't on track, that you weren't doing anything to manage your weight. And I want you to imagine looking back at your weight loss history and imagine that you had taken smaller steps consistently. What if 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago, however long you've wanted to lose weight for, what if every week you worked on one more small thing to improve? Maybe one week it was drinking some more water. Maybe the next week it was eating a little more fruit. Maybe the week after was cut down your sugar by 20, 30% that week. Uh, maybe the following week it was to go for a walk around the block. And what if you consistently focused on making small improvements each and every week for the last 10, 20, 30, 40 years that would impact your weight? Where would you be today? Do you not believe that you'd be infinitely further if you'd follow that path rather than trying to, you know, hit a grand slam every Monday and try to change everything so you lose weight instantly? It's this time frame factor that really needs to be dealt with, because what's happening is that the diet industry has conditioned you to be so impatient that you almost refuse to consider the clear path that is most effective and successful when it comes to managing your weight. And that path is doing small things consistently that you start to automate. So you start to naturally drink more water, so you start to naturally walk more, so you start to naturally consume more fruit week in and week out, so you naturally start to reduce your sugar consumption. These are the types of things that really make the difference. It's not the giant changes in behaviors that do it because they just don't last. They're too overwhelming. They're too difficult to keep up. And so you find yourself in this trap of trying to change everything all at once and focusing on it obsessively for as long as you can. Which isn't that long. And then you go back to normal. What we need to do is we need to change what normal is. And the only way you can change normal is a little bit at a time, consistently. This is the path forward. It's the path I hope you truly consider, because the entire process changes the second that you understand this. The second you start walking this small change path, the small step path, everything changes for you. And it changes for the better. And if you want some support thinking this way and approaching it this way, click the link in my bio, uh, or go to programyourselfthin.com and go, uh, get the free hypnosis session I made for you. It's called The New Thin Me. Uh, it is a kickstart session. It is designed to relax you, calm you down, and put new good ideas in your mind specifically to help you clarify what your goal weight is and how you are going to experience that, what it's going to feel like to be at your goal weight, and that is going to help motivate you and, uh, drive you forward. So go check that out. Uh, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. I will— if you want that session, I will put the link in the chat. Where the hell is it? Where are we at? There it is. So yeah, if you're on Facebook or YouTube What the hell? That's weird. Strange. YouTube and Facebook's acting strange. That's not good. Huh, that's very weird. Do we have people over here? Huh, interesting. Yeah, that's strange. It looks like Facebook and YouTube seem like they're not working, like it's not streaming to them. I was in TikTok, and TikTok has not been asked a lot of questions lately, so this may be a quick, quick live, and that's okay too. But yeah, if you have any questions, feel free to ask them. And we got Monday here. People stuck sometimes. It's the point now, it's already summer, and I missed, missed it. I started too late, so now I can't change. But, uh, every passing moment is another chance to change your weight and, uh, how you're approaching things. Um, interesting though. I'm not, you know, I'm gonna end this stream
