Program Yourself Thin Live 7-30-26

Jim Katsoulis explains why weight loss is inconsistent month to month but trends down over time with a sustainable plan. He teaches a redo-rehearsal technique to reprogram eating habits and offers a free 5-minute hypnosis session called The New Thin Me. The key is adopting a zoom-out perspective and living as if you're already at your goal weight.

Hey everyone, welcome to today's program, Yourself Thin podcast. Today we're talking about Weight loss is inconsistent and unpredictable in the short term. You've got to internalize what I'm saying, please. Because when you look at goal weight calculators, when you look at diets and plans, they're always promising you this consistent and stable and predictable weight loss. But the reality is it is not that way because you're not a consistent, predictable person, most likely, right? Your behaviors aren't so consistent and predictable. And even when they are, your body's not consistent and predictable. There are a lot of factors that impact your weight moment to moment. And the weight loss, what I've seen, and I've done this for over 20 years professionally, I've done over 6,000 private weight loss sessions. I've tracked a lot of weight with people. And very rarely does the line look like this. It usually looks like this. Now it's trending down, right? Notice we're going down, but it's not this straight line down. It's usually this jiggity-jaggity journey all over the place. And if that's what I see most of the time, then maybe you've got a different body where it's just going to be a straight line. But can you at least open yourself up to the possibility that your weight loss is going to be this unpredictable and inconsistent process moment to moment? But if you zoom out, Right. Everything's about how much we zoom in and zoom out. If we zoom in, we see this here, the weight going all over the place. We zoom out. That's where we start to see the trend line. And as long as the trend line is moving down, that's the main thing we're looking at. But if we zoom into that trend line going down, we see days where we put weight on, days where we stay stable for a long time, even though we're doing really well with our plan, days when all of a sudden we jump down. Days we jump back up and then jump back down. Okay. It's just, I can't explain it. I've studied this for over 30 years. I'm obsessed with it. I've never seen a good explanation for how we lose weight. Like, I, again, I zoom out, I get the big idea. You reduce calorie consumption, the weight comes down. Okay. I get it. But moment to moment, how it shows up is very complicated. And if you go into this process thinking that every day is going to be a consistent loss because you're cutting calories down, You're setting yourself up for the ultimate failure because that expectation you go into this process with is one of the number one things that's going to impact your experience. And so if you go into it thinking every day is going to be a consistent slide down, what happens when you hit a jump up? What happens when you hit a consistent plateau? You're not prepared for it because you went into it thinking the only way this goes is just straight down. And it doesn't. And the people that get the best success are the ones that are able to manage this, this uncertainty, this unpredictability. And so this is why I say to you, weight loss is inconsistent, unpredictable in the short term, but if you stick to your plan and work and keep going it over the long term, of course it's going to go in the direction you want to, especially when you're adjusting and optimizing along the way. But you need to realize that The temporary jumps, the, the too long plateaus are part of the process, and you just need to manage them and move through them because it's on the other side of those is where your success is. And so even before you start, you start working on your mindset so that you can prepare yourself to be able to absorb these challenges. Because these are the challenges that usually make people stop, make people quit. So you need to prepare for those before you even get started on this journey because you know it's waiting for you. It doesn't even matter what you do. You could literally super restrict your calories. You could give up all carbs for the rest of your life. Your weight is still going to move in ways you can't explain. And you have to be ready for this because the second you hit a jump up or a plateau that goes on too long, if you're not prepared for it, it's going to make you quit. You're going to get so frustrated, you're going to give up. So you've got to be able to handle this. And I think the best way to handle is to be able to zoom out and recognize that even if I'm at the same weight for a month— I can't tell you the number of times I've seen someone that, I'm doing everything right, everything's going great, but my weight's been the same for a month, the same for a month, same for 2 months sometimes once they start getting into it. Oh my God, my weight's been the same for 2 months, I don't understand. Then all of a sudden, a 5-pound decrease. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this. I can't tell you how many times I've experienced that. I can't explain it, but I see it and I know you see it. You can't explain how your weight comes off and at what rate and what speed. You can't predict that. And so if you can't predict it, then you better come up with a counter-belief because you cannot go into your weight loss. Assume I'm going to lose 1 pound a week, 2 pounds a week, whatever, whatever number you're saying to yourself. I bet it's a consistent, stable number the whole time.. And the second it's not consistent and stable, you start getting all wobbly and upset. You can't, because the problem isn't how you're losing weight. The problem is your expectation of it before you even get started. So you've got to start working on this before you even get started. That's the key. And then you got to manage it when it's happening. Okay. It's, it's, it's one of the hardest parts to me. It's the hardest mindset part pretty much is the way this happens. It's unpredictable and inconsistent. Your nervous system and brain hates that because as soon as you start to think, oh my God, I'm doing everything right and I'm not getting the results, as soon as you start to believe that, you know, well, what's the point? So that to me is one of the, the seed of the worst mindset issue that most people have is that the, the rate of weight loss starts to be different than what they expected and they get discouraged and frustrated. So you gotta prepare for that right off the bat. I've never seen weight loss be consistent and stable the whole time. I've never seen it. It might start off that way at some point if you have I've, I've never seen it virtually with any weight loss people have to achieve, uh, to get to their goal weight. But, um, if you go into this expecting that it's a wild ride, but you're going to get to where you want to go if you stay the path, that is the first step to getting there. Because if you don't, you're going to be sideswiped, you're going to be walloped when you step on that scale expecting it to go down and it doesn't. That's the biggest mindset challenge you've got, and you got to start working on that before you even get started by acknowledging that weight loss is inconsistent and unpredictable in the short term and very consistent and predictable in the long term. And if you want some support walking that path, you can click the link in my bio, uh, go to programyourselfin and go get the free hypnosis session I made for you. Uh, it's called The New Thin Me. It's a kickstart session. If you've never experienced hypnosis, you really owe it to yourself. It's completely free. Um, and even if you've tried hypnosis, you probably haven't tried mine. I'm one of the highest paid hypnotists on the planet. Uh, I have done over 6,000 private weight loss sessions. So it might really benefit you to go sign up for that session, listen to it. And on top of that, I'm officially happy to say that when you opt in there, you will also get the reprogram training that I just finished, another free training that will show you how to program your mind to get to your goal weight. And that training, I literally teach you the program yourself then technique, the redo rehearsal technique. I take you through it. So I don't know what more I can do. I can't click the button for you. You got to do that part. But everything else I've taken care of for you. So go check that out. Uh, and if you are in Facebook or YouTube, I'll put the link in the chat window. And I hope you're all having a wonderful Thursday. It is rainy times here where I'm at and where I'm going, apparently. Go to the beach next week, it looks like 7 straight days of rain. I don't know, I'm sure it won't be, but it's funny, it does look that way. Uh, so Christine, Christine says that was my exact mindset before I did Program Yourself Then. All right, Christine, nice. Yes. And that's not the mindset anymore because that's one of the very first things that we deal with, right? Everything's mindset when it comes to program yourself then, um, because at the end of the day, um, with your weight, everything is mindset. Your mindset's at the core of everything you're doing. So yes, you better get a handle on it or some way to influence it because it's crucial. Um, Lisa says, so what are your best tips? Um, best tips. Oh my goodness. I couldn't really just give a tip. I don't really just give tips because I think that You know, it's like saying, I don't know, like, like your house needs to be repaired and you're like, okay, what's the best way to make this house look better? But the foundation's cracked, you know what I mean? So it's like we could talk about tips and kind of like window dressing and little fixes, but most people, the core issue with your weight starts with your mindset. And the first mindset thing starts with the fact that you're fixated and focused on losing weight. Here in Program Yourself Thin Land, we're focused on living at our goal weight. And the difference between them is everything, because getting to your goal weight is a temporary thing. That's how you think of it. I'm just gonna get to my goal weight. What are you gonna do after? I'll figure it out then. Program Yourself Thin, we're focused on living at our goal weight for the rest of our lives on near autopilot. So they're two completely different goals, and those two goals dictate everything that happens before them, right? If you're going to go, you know, again, if you're going to go to two different destinations, you need two different sets of directions. And the difference between getting to your goal weight and living at your goal weight is as different as going towards California and going towards New York. They're completely opposite and different. And so it's important for you to realize that it might— my biggest tip, I guess, would be stop focusing on losing weight as fast as you can. And start focusing on how you can live at your goal weight in the most comfortable, easiest, most enjoyable way possible. That's my biggest tip. And I think if you do that, everything changes instantly because when you focus on how to lose weight as quick as you can, that's what opens the door to you to choose the most extreme plan. And if you look at everything you've ever done to lose weight, it's always an extreme plan and everything's an extreme plan that you jump into 100%. So I don't care if you were doing Weight Watchers, South Beach, keto, intermittent fasting. I don't care what you've ever done. Veganism, carnivore. You jumped into all of them 100%. And that's how you think about weight loss. All or nothing. In Program Yourself Then, because we're looking at the long term, we understand we can't be perfect all the time. We're humans. We just can't be perfect all the time. We're living a life. So we have all— because we still— we all sometimes, of course, and something and something. And that's the big difference, because when you go from all or nothing to all or something, that difference between going from nothing to something is the game changer. Because what you're going to find is most of the time you're not being all. Most of the time in your life you can't be perfect. And so it's the majority of the time what you're doing there is going to have the biggest impact on your weight. And most people, unfortunately, when it comes to their weight, are 100% in and then 100% out, and that is a recipe to stay stuck. And so to be 100% in, or some percentage in, you're always moving forward, and that's the secret to success, in my opinion. Um, who said this? What's up? Lola Lola says, where you been? I haven't seen you in months. I've been here. I'm here every day. Where you been, Lola? I've been, I'm here every day, Monday through Fridays, every day at noon. Um, you know, sometimes I'll go late today. Life happens. This will be a short one too. I got a call coming up in 15 minutes, but just wanted to pop on. I'm a little half in vacation mode, so I am going to be gone next week too, but then I'm back and I'm back with a vengeance. I'm so excited. Like I said, folks, if you have, if you have not gotten the hypnosis session I give you, get it today because like I said, I just finished the reprogram training, which I think is my best training by a mile. Uh, it's really 20 years of experience distilled down into 20 minutes. And, um, if you're even remotely serious about managing your weight, you're really doing yourself a disservice if you do not watch this. All right, uh, Christine says beautiful and sunny in St. Louis, huh? Yeah, hot. Yeah, it is. It's been raining like 3 days straight too, and I guess it's just gonna keep raining. So it's so funny. Uh, what's up, Sanjita? And just, hey, rock star, are you doing a hypnosis session for August? I'm glad you asked that, Sanjita. Yes, I will, I will get that up, um, before I go. Um, yeah, I'm so excited. I'm excited to go away for sure. I'm— this boy is everything lining up perfectly. I am closing out such an enormous project, and so I'm so excited to step into my vacation truly having closed up this project. I'm so happy about it, and I'm so excited to truly relax for a week and then come back because I've got such exciting things. Um, when I get back, I can't wait. I get to really kind of get back to some content making, which I have kind of put on the back burner a little bit. So I'm so, so excited, um, to share that all with you. I got a lot of things planned, so I'm super excited about that, but I'm also super excited to get the hell out of here for a week too. What's up, Vicki? How's it going out in San Diego? I know San Diego is nice already. Um, Sanjita says, how do I get your reprogram training? Um, well, Sanjita, I'm sure you're already in the, um, you've already got the hypnosis session. So you should have gotten some emails. I've sent some emails out the last few days with a link to it. So if you're on my email list, um, go check your email because I've sent a couple emails out the last few days. Um, am I sending one out today? I forget, but I'll send a couple out this week as well, whatever, as well. So keep an eye on your inbox if you're already on my list. Go watch that training. Okay, it's free. Go check it out. It's— I think it's awesome, and I think it's a completely different way to look at your weight and how to change it. And, uh, yeah. What's up, Leslie? Leslie and Mama said, I tried getting the program. Does it take a while to send? Um, no, it doesn't. Try getting the program. What, like tried getting, uh, the hypnosis session or the program itself? But both of those should be instantaneous, so If you're having any issues though, you can email, uh, support@programyourselfthin.com, email jim@programyourselfthin.com. Um, we'll get that taken care of for you. But yeah, I don't know, things happen though. And you know, I will say that it's kind of a new, um, like everything's been updated. And I will tell you, when everything gets updated, uh, Ah, it's a, it's a complex system, this program yourself thin background. It's, uh, it's a little bit complex. There's a lot of parts to it. And, uh, I'd be lying if I said every time I change things that something doesn't break. I'm probably not the person to work in a technical sort of job, you know, but here I am. Uh, but anyways, yeah, but let me know if you're not getting this stuff, shoot me, shoot me an email, um, or write to Jim or support@programyourself.com. We'll get that set up for you. Uh, what's up, Becky? Becky says, glad to be here. I have to go on day at a time, one day at a time, sometimes one minute, one time, so one second. That's fair, that's fair. It's how it is, right? But let's be honest, that's how it is to be a human being, you know what I mean? Like, each moment's moment to moment these days, you know, it does feel that way. So everything is kind of like that. Um, yeah, the kind of one day at a time though, I think is a great philosophy. I think it's a wonderful philosophy and in Program Yourself Thin, I think that's cooked right into the whole process. Um, but one thing we add to that about kind of minimizing things down, right? One day at a time, one minute, one second at a time. I think you're on the right path because sometimes we've got to zoom in and zoom into moments. But to add to that is the idea of improving 1% better at a time. So in Program Yourself Thin, we follow the 1% better each day. Philosophy. So every day we're looking to get 1% better, 1% better, 1% better. And the reason is that that allows us to improve each and every day. Every day we can get a little bit better, and that feels really good. And the mathematics of that over a year is not 365% better, it's 3,650% better because it keeps compounding on the previous improvements. But it's a comfortable way to do that. And this is the big lie that's been told to you with the diets. Is that you're going to change everything instantly. But your obsession and addiction to changing everything instantly and quickly is the same thing that traps most dieters, because that obsession with getting fast results causes you to rely on extreme methods that you can't keep up. And this is why you have the experience of starting strong and ending. And you've repeated that probably tens or hundreds of times in your life. So I'm here to give you a different alternative to approach your weight with, which is let's start comfortably. The plan you start comfortably is the plan that you don't avoid. I remember, I'll always remember someone, they were starting, they got the program, they're going to order it on a Friday and they're like, well, I got company coming this weekend. I have to start a strict meal plan tomorrow. I said, you got the wrong program. This, this program, you're going to start tomorrow with a 5-minute hypnosis session. That's all you got to do. Because we're making it simple and easy. I want Program Yourself Thin to be something to look forward to doing, and people do look forward to it because guess what? It's not that hard to get people to look forward to relaxing and getting nice positive messages to put in their mind, as it turns out. So yeah, uh, Program Yourself Thin, the core of it, you know, daily is, is a 5-minute session in the morning and a 60-second mental rehearsal technique used at night. There's more to it that you can, you know, use obviously as well. But we keep the minimum to doing something all or something. We keep this something easy to do, comfortable. And have you ever had a diet that was comfortable? Do you ever have a diet that we had some flexibility that you have had a bad day, you know how to handle it and you still want to stay on plan? Probably not, you know, because every diet is all or nothing exercise. So, yes, I think you're right, though, about that, that attitude, right? Sometimes got to break it down. Yep, Mickey says, 'All or something sustains me.' Yes, me too, me too. Um, so Jesus says, 'Oh yes, yep, yeah.' So keep an eye— check out my, my social medias, right? Again, I'll post it everywhere, but I'll put an August session up, um, that'll pop up on August 1st. So that'll be up there. Um, all right. Yeah, Pat. Yes, Pat. I know Pat just started the program on Sunday. Yep. Talk to Jim AI, um, regarding the redo and rehearsal. It works. Yeah, Jim AI is amazing. And I know I've been teasing this for a couple months, but yeah, this, when I get back, um, there's gonna be a huge upgrade with Gym AI. And it's really, I'm, I'm kind of glad I got delayed fixing it up because the company I use to, to, I, I have a, a Gym AI is my own AI. It's trained on 10 million of my words. So I pump in, you know, all my programs, all my coaching calls, all my podcasts. And so it's literally like talking to me. It's, it's unbelievable. And there's a chat version and there's an audio version. It is literally like talking to me. It, it's. It's weird, but it's super effective. So in the program, you get access to this. And so anytime you have a question about anything, you can get direct, specific support to help you understand it. In addition to every Tuesday, we have live Q&As too, directly with me. But you have 24/7 access to Jim AI. And so I'm super happy, Pat, that that worked for you. It does work. Yes, the reader rehearsal technique works. Again, I describe, I show you how to do it in the reprogram training. So I'm so happy to have this training done because the big thing about reprogram is I show you literally how to program your mind. I just show you how to do it. Just, just there you go. Okay. And it's the core technique of the whole program. I just take you through how to do it. So again, if you're even remotely serious about managing your weight, go get the hypnosis session and watch that training. And yes, the reading rehearsal technique works. And yes, talking to Jim AI works, right? They both work. There are things that work out there, folks. Uh, Aurora says binge eating. Hold on, question just disappeared for a second. Come on, TikTok's question. Uh, Aura says binge eating, what are your thoughts on that? Um, binge eating, yeah, obviously it's a big challenge for people. It's one of the main challenges people typically have to deal with and get control of their weight. I tend to— when I look at binge eating, I think one of the mistakes people make is they look at binge eating and they just look at the moment when they're binge eating, right? So let's just say yesterday you did great and all of a sudden 8:00 at night you start binge eating, right? So what most people are going to do is they're going to look at 8:00 at night when I was binge eating, they're going to look at the binge eating behavior and they're going to say, I should have stopped that, right? So they're going to just focus on the binge eating behavior. What I like to do is I like to look at the binge eating behavior over here, and I like to look at what's— what came before it, what happened before the binge eating. And I'll typically look 24 hours, 12, 24 hours ahead of time. So if it happened 8 o'clock, the first question I'm asking was, what did you eat the rest of the day? Because what I start to see is that a lot of times where there's binge eating, it's triggered by one of two things, three things technically. Number one is your mood, right? No, actually, you know, let me switch it. Number one binge eating trigger in my experience is hunger. I think people over-restrict, they get too hungry, and then they can't control their eating. So I would say hunger is number one. Number two, I would say, is emotions. They get emotional, upset, angry, celebrating, right? Again, it's a whole spectrum of intense emotions can trigger eating and binge eating, right? So hunger, emotions, and/or habit. And they can— there can be all three. There could be just one. Okay. But that's how I start to look at it because I don't want to just stop myself from binge eating. That's what dieting teaches you, that you're going to use your willpower to stop yourself from binge eating. But think about it, if you have a binge eating issue, there's this compulsion that shows up, right? And again, you've had this for a while, most likely. This compulsion to binge eat shows up, and you have always tried to fight it with your willpower. Don't, don't, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. But there's that energy to do it that's always there. Instead of fighting against this, we want to understand what's going on here. What did we do knowingly or unknowingly to create this motivation, this compulsion to binge eat? And again, what I would start by looking at, the big 3: how hungry were you? Where were you at emotionally? And is this a habit? Meaning, are you binge eating 5 nights a week at 8 o'clock?, right? Now that starts to become a habit, and it's also related to these things probably as well. But now this allows us to understand how this was created, because a lot of times where the problem shows up is not where it was created. And this is what makes a lot of you dieters insane, is you're relying on this desire to be able to willpower yourself to stop binge eating. But what's a lot better strategy is to look at what created the situation for the binge eating in the first place, because, for example, If it's because you were so hungry you couldn't control your eating, that's an easy fix, folks. And this is the one I find most dieters get trapped in, is they will restrict, restrict, restrict, restrict all day long until they can't restrict anymore, and now they're binging. So it very quickly goes from restriction to binging, restriction to binging. One of the most common patterns I see with dieters. So again, when it comes to binge eating— now here we go. Yep. I just got restricted on TikTok, but that's okay. TikTok, I'm about to leave in 2 minutes, so it doesn't matter. Um, but yeah, so instead of just fighting the bingeing, I want to understand it. And again, the first steps I'm looking for is hunger, emotions, habit. There can be other things too, by the way, but those are the big 3 that I see. And start to understand the binge eating habit. And the more you understand it, a lot of times the solutions almost appear. So if you're getting really— if you're over-restricting and then binging, Instead of just expecting that you'll be able to hold onto the restriction, stop restricting so much. Don't get yourself so hungry. The quickest way to get me to overeat or binge or make bad food choices, get me really hungry. That overrides anything I know or any habits I have. So, you know, that, that's how I would begin to approach it. And obviously there's more to go with it, but that, that would be my first, um, suggestion to you. And hopefully that'll help you a little bit. Because otherwise you're just going to keep beating yourself up and blaming yourself for any time you do it, you know. And usually there's a lot more going on. What's up, Carolyn? Yep. Yes, late night boredom. Yeah. And again, okay, so late night boredom. So if you're, you're a boredom eater, right? Again, you start to notice the patterns. And if you're a boredom eater, the answer is not to stop eating because then you're just going to be a thin, bored person. That's not your goal. The answer is to figure out how can I entertain myself? How can I stimulate myself in ways that don't involve food? And all of a sudden, once you have those answers, it's a lot easier to manage because you've given yourself a real solution. So hopefully that helps you out. All right, I gotta get out of here. I hope, um, any of you that are not in my email list, go get the hypnosis session. All you gotta do is click the link in my bio. If you're in, um, if you're on TikTok, you just click the picture of me there and, uh, it'll bring you right to my bio. Go click the link and then go get it. Take you 2 seconds. Um, you'll get my training reprogram that I just released right now on the other side of that. You'll get that as well. Um, go check it out, go check it out. Um, Gil says, hi Jim, is this session recorded so I can rewatch please, as I've only just joined? Thank you. Uh, yeah, Gil, you're on Facebook, so yes, you, um, it'll be right— it'll be on my page just as a replay, so you can go watch it there. Uh, it's also a replay on YouTube. TikTok, they just delete it and it disappears forever, but It's also— I was just gonna say that. So I am here every Monday through Friday at noon Eastern as well. I won't be here next week, but every other day every week I am here. And if you can't make the lives, it's also a podcast. So you could watch the replay on Facebook or YouTube, and you can listen to the audio version of it as a podcast on any podcast platform. Just search Program Yourself, then it'll pop up, and there it is. So, all right everyone, have a super duper day, and we'll talk soon. Bye!
