The Least You Can Do With Your Weight

Jim Katsoulis shares three easy habits that matter most during the holidays: drink more water, prioritize sleep, and practice relaxation. He frames weight management as a mindset challenge, not a diet problem, and covers calorie counting, intermittent fasting, and protein questions from listeners.

It. Everyone, welcome to today's program yourself Thin podcast. They were talking about the least you can do with your weight. And this question is really aimed at understanding that it's the holiday season and if you're like most people, you're not going to be 100 on track, 100 on your plan. You're probably more cookies, more treats, more alcohol, perhaps, whatever. And so this really is a conversation about really. Again, a lot of times we talk about being all or something. This is specifically how to be something. It takes some work because you're not used to thinking this way. And so what I want to do is kind of flip the way you usually think about weight, because typically when you think about weight, the only way you're able to think about it is by doing the most. Right. So you have like a one speed, you know, transmission in your mind for how to approach weight loss. And it's just 100 miles an hour. Everything changes. So I could sit here all day and say be all or something, but there's still a huge vacuum in your mind of what, what's something mean? What, what's that mean? And so we're going to talk about that in the context of the holidays. Right. And understanding perhaps that you have holiday parties, holiday meals, special occasions, you know, different things where you're probably not going to be on as on track as you normally are. Okay. And so when you get into situations like that, I think it's extra important to really focus on the other things you can do to keep you at least somewhat on track. And I started all off with water, which is probably my absolute favorite thing to rely on when I'm not really on track. Now, I think one of the biggest reasons this is so helpful is water. When you overeat, you eat too much sugar, eat too much food, period, drink too much, whatever it may be, water is probably the best antidote available to you. There is probably, in my opinion, nothing that can make you feel better after bad food choices than water. And so I think I put water at the very top of the list because it's going to help you in so many ways before you have to make a decision, to encourage you to make a good decision. And after the decision, it, even if it wasn't a great decision, water is going to really support and help you. And so we can know that. But now we've got to turn it into behavior. And so I want to go a little bit deeper into it. Obviously, we all know we should probably drink more water, but how do you do it? What I would suggest is make sure that you've got a bottle like this, right? So a decent sized bottle, it doesn't matter how big, it doesn't have to be a specific amount, but you want a relatively big bottle of water because you don't have to be thinking about filling that water up all the time. And if you have a small bottle, you know, chances are good that you might drink that first bottle and then it'll sit empty the rest of the day. So again, the bigger the bottle, typically, you know, within reason. I know that there are water bottles that are enormous now, but a bigger water bottle within reason is typically going to, you know, help you to drink more water. So that's the first thing is make sure you've got a good water container and make sure you're carrying it around, right? If you've kind of been a little loose with it, water got a little off track with your water consumption, now's a great time to say, okay, I'm going to focus on my water. And that's where a lot of your energy goes. You see, again, it's us just accepting and acknowledging that life brings different seasons and stages. And to go into the holidays and think you're any perfect is silly, right? I think for most people, again, I'm not saying it has to be. You can absolutely eat perfectly for the holidays, okay? But for most people, that's not what they want to do and not what they're going to do. So again, we kind of pull our expectations away from that. And now we say, okay, I'm going to start focusing on the water. Know, the next couple weeks, I'm really gonna make sure I drink water. You know, I know parties. I'm probably eats more cookies and eat some. I'm gonna drink water. All right, so water is number one. Number two I would suggest is sleeping. And when I say sleep, I don't just mean getting more sleep at night, although that's one of them. But really, if you can make sleep a priority during the holidays, I know that sounds strange for a lot of people, but what you're looking for is going to bed a little bit earlier, sleeping in a little bit later if you can, napping, you know, if you take naps, you know, allowing yourself to take naps when the opportunity arises, but really just kind of making sleep extra important, right? Kind of putting moving it up the value list there, especially around the holidays, because again, if you get the water and the sleeping in check, even just a little bit better, you're probably going to make better food choices just naturally, right? Again, not perfect ones, but better ones. After that, relaxation again, for a lot of people, the holidays are very stressful. So if you can make it a priority or a focus to relax a little bit more, to breathe a little bit more, it's again going to support you as you move through the holidays and on top of it. And really that's why I named these first three. First is because if you start doing these even a little bit, if you maintain your water, drink a little bit more, maintain your sleep, get a little bit more, maintain your relaxation, get a little bit more. If you do any of those things, what happens is not only most likely are you to eat better, just naturally, better food choices, but you feel better and you'll probably enjoy the holidays more. The more relaxed, calm, grounded, hydrated and rested you are, you tend to appreciate, you know, your days in life more. So that's why I think those are really good ones. So those are kind of the first tier. After that, again, I'll give you a couple different options. You can pick whichever feels right for you. But moving more, right? And I say moving, not exercising necessarily. Like going for an extra walk here and there, going again, depending where you live, bike rides, getting outside, moving your body more, considering and counting cleaning, right? So maybe you're hosting this year. Count cleaning and moving and doing all the preparation and hosting as movement as well. Sometimes we are doing good things. We don't really allow ourselves to appreciate it. So keep that in mind if you meditate. Meditation can be really a wonderful, you know, way to go through the holidays because you just stay more grounded and calm and it supports everything else. Practicing gratitude, eating more fruits and vegetables, right? So again, even if you're going to eat more cookies, that doesn't mean you can't eat more fruits and vegetables, right? And so make sure that you're kind of maintaining some base level of fruits and vegetables throughout the season. And again, you, you customize whatever works for you. But the, the basic idea is that we're not just going to think, because I can't be perfect, I'm just going to wait till January 1. Do not do that, because this is the perfect opportunity to work on little small things that, again, are not only going to help you probably make better food choices, but they're also going to help you to go through the holidays just enjoying it more. All right, so if you enjoy this whole approach and you want to go deeper into it, click the link in my bio or go to program yourself. Then if you're over in Facebook. I'll put the link in the chat, but you can go over there and get a free hypnosis session. It's called the New Thin Me. And yeah, it is actually free. And you can go listen to it about 10 minutes, kickstart session, go check it out again. And that's another, I guess, little bonus step, I would say. Certainly if you're in the program, you're already listening to hypnosis sessions, but if you are not, another thing you can do is focus on some hypnosis sessions throughout the holidays. You know, a couple strategically placed hypnosis sessions can work wonders. So. So, yeah, go test that out. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. Just holidays. So it is always funny. It's always funny around Christmas time because people tend to kind of opt out of thinking about food and weight, which I understand, but. But what I encourage you to do is, is don't opt out of it. You know, you can still enjoy yourself. You don't have to eat. Perfect. But it's the opting out part that really is. Is damaging. Know when we completely kind of like put something out of our mind, I just think there's so many detrimental effects of that, you know, I really do. So, yes, make sure that you hopefully at least go through the holidays with some. I always say, like, you know, you want to keep at least one foot in the wagon. You know, you know, they say like, we fell off the wagon. So if there is a wagon, of course, stick with that metaphor. You want to get it so that at least you always have like, at least your foot. You may be getting dragged, you might be getting dragged, but at least you have like one foot in the. The wagon. So you're there, you in the game. Because I think a lot of times with dieting, people just think so all or nothing. That again, once they're. They're off the wagon, they're just not thinking about it at all. And next thing you know, months can go by, years can go by. So it really is important, I think, to. To work on that piece. And dieting really does kind of crank you up for that. Oh, Diane says, have you made any short hypnosis videos to listen to at bedtime? I mean, I don't think I have any free ones that are short I. In the program. We do in the program, there are hypnosis sessions and there's what I call sleep gnosis sessions. The difference being that the hypnosis sessions have a countout and the sleep gnosis sessions do not. So they're really set up for you to listen to and then just go to sleep and stay asleep. But I don't think I have any of those out in the world. Most of the sessions I put out like on YouTube and stuff are like the hourong one. So. But if you know, if you're going to bed. Well, I guess if you want to listen to a short one but I would suggest for now you can go to YouTube and just find some and then just listen to them until you fall asleep, you know and. Or maybe you can set a timer. I don't know if Timers, they have timers on videos. I don't even know. But yeah, in the program we have those with the program. Like I said, every, every. The main hypnosis sessions come with a regular session and a sleep gnosis version. Oh, what's up Sanjita? Oh Sanjita, I just remembered I forgot to send you that link, didn't I? I will get that out to you today. I've been doing a lot of stuff, a lot of cool stuff going on behind the scenes and yeah, I've been focusing on those things. Really cool stuff. A lot, a lot of, a lot of loose ends kind of closing up and kind of a makeover for program yourself. Then I would say we got the logo redesigned, got all the programs redesigned. If you're in the program you'll notice that you. The emails look different now, right? They're so good. And yeah, if you're in the program, what will be coming today is you will get a email and if you would like to re sign up for restart the daily emails you can do that and that's free. Okay. Please understand once you're in the program you can restart those as many times as you like. The program is basically there's three main components to the program but the hypnosis part is set up as an eight week process. So for eight weeks you're getting hypnosis sessions every day you get a five minute session in the morning and then each week you get one 10 minute session that you listen to repeatedly. And now what's really cool is that man, the support and program itself didn't just skyrocketed because last week we got the. The morning sessions have all been re. This better content. It's better, it just looks nicer too. It's made over and it's better content. And now there is also a nightt reminder if you choose to get it. So you will have an option if you. When you go, when I send this email out, you'll have the option to get just the morning or the morning and the evening one if you want. And the evening one's really good too, because it just reinforces the message of the day. It's really good again, very. It's something I've been want to do for so long and I finally got it done. I'm so happy because now the program's even better because now it's like it's really on a whole other level. It's reinforcing the main ideas in multiple ways. So you don't. It's not just listen to the hypnosis session, it's the email. It's when you go to the page, you see the quote and the thing and there's that. Then you get the nighttime thing. It just kind of gently reminds it and it's real quick, easy stuff. So that's exciting. I can't wait for you all to see it and get your feedback on that because I think it's a huge upgrade and that is ready now. Like I said, if you're in the program, keep your eye on your email because I'm going to send that link out today because everything's ready. I was going to send out this week and I had to test it first, make sure it's working. It's working. So anyways, you're in the program. Keep an eye out for that. Sanjuda says you really are a rock star. Jim. Just realized weight loss is all a mindset. Thank you for opening up a new window for me. Really trying every morning. That's wonderful. Yeah, it is just a mindset. I mean, it's more than a mindset. I mean, it's, it's, you know, at the core. Well, let me just to give this perspective. Let me. So. Okay, so the, the way I think of weight, dealing with your weight, I really think of kind of this weight goal, weight pyramid, and I think there's mindset, lifestyle needing. And so I don't think it's just mindset, but I think mindset's at the foundation of all of it, if that makes sense. And I think mindset's pretty much the number one thing that, you know, no one ever teaches you. You know, you never get to learn about how to have the right mindset for weight loss. And so that's what I'm here for, is to help you all out. And this is a mission for me. That's why I'm here every day, Monday through Friday. I'm here for free. To help you all out. This is my mission in life. So here I am. If you have any weight questions, I'm happy to take a swing at it and see if I can move you forward in some kind of profound way. Because I do think one thing that separates me from most weight loss practitioners is that I really focus on the how to get yourself to do things more than just telling you what to do. And I think most of the time when it comes to weight loss, people are just telling you what to do, and I think that's not enough. I think you need to have a sense of a mindset shift as well, and know how to get yourself to do the things you know you should. So, Meg, how's it going? Meg says, are you a fan of calorie counting? Sorry if you've addressed this before. Oh, please don't be sorry. I address the same stuff all the time. I was talking to my brother about that yesterday. He's like, I don't understand how podcast people talk about the same thing every day. Well, I do, because I. I'm a podcaster and I talk about the same stuff every day, and I've been talking about the same stuff every day for over 20. So. Yeah, so. But that's a great question. Yeah. Am I a fan of calorie counting? No, I'm not a fan of calorie counting. Not for most people. Now, that being said, the golden rule of program yourself then is there is no right or wrong. There's only what works for you. So if you love calorie counting, then knock yourself out and do it. Okay. My general kind of not great opinion of calorie counting is that it's tedious, it's unnatural to track and count every single thing you put in your mouth. Eating is a very unconscious, automated thing. And I think to all of a sudden try and make something conscious and autumn subconscious and automated conscious, and you're going to decide every little thing and track every little thing. I think you're working against yourself. That's my opinion. That being said, I think calorie counting for a week or two is wonderful. I think getting a sense of what you eat, what you think you're eating, and what it actually is, I think that's great for you. But I think the idea that you're going to count your calories for the rest of your life, I think for most people, that's a tedious undertaking and one that they can't and don't want to stick to. So, again, I think ultimately it comes down to how do you feel about calorie counting? But if you're like most humans, you're going to find that you don't like calorie counting. It's tedious and boring and you don't want to do it, and that's okay, too. You absolutely do not have to calorie count. I again, I think that you need strategy, but you can use a lot of the concepts of calorie counting, but you can do it in a much more intuitive way. And that's what we aim to do. And program yourself then, is we don't count calories, but we're aware of what we're eating, and we aim to structure our eating so that the calories bring us to the weight we want to live at. But we aim to do it in a much more intuitive and natural way than trying to consciously track and count every single calorie. So I hope that makes sense. What's up, Jen? Jen says I've changed when I listen to you. I listen to you on podcast and I listen in the evening, and it helps me stay motivated, eating less at night. That's awesome, Jen. Yeah, that's what I'm here for. That's what I do. I am a hypnotist, folks. So, yes, when I am speaking here on this podcast, I'm not just saying words. I am actually using conversational hypnosis techniques to actually change your mind to some degree while you listen. So that is true. That's awesome, Jen. Great job. Keep it up. And again, I mean, that's just the way it is. The more. The more you listen to me, the more people listen to my program, the more they change. It's that simple. You know, hypnosis is not some mysterious thing, folks. A lifetime of commercials is a lifetime of hypnosis. It's not. You can't think, oh, I've never experienced hypnosis. I don't know what this hypnosis is. You've experienced hypnosis every day of your life. You have a hypnotic brain. It's unavoidable that there's no way you cannot go into trances constantly, all day long. So, again, it's not a matter of if you can be hypnotized or whether you're hypnotized. You 100% are hypnotized, have been hypnotized, and will continue to be hypnotized in your life. There is not a single question about it. You have a hypnotic brain. Most of what you do is done on autopilot without you thinking about it. So again, it's not a matter of whether you're hypnotized or whether you can be hypnotized. You absolutely can, and you are and you will be, and that's that. It's like. It's not even up for debate. So. Yeah, but. But. So what I offer is a more positive hypnosis. So all. Like, when you watch tv, that's constant hypnosis. I don't know it. You don't have to understand what hypnosis means. Take my. Take my word for it, you know what I mean? I've been studying hypnosis for over 30 years. A master hypnotist, NLP trainer, all this stuff. I promise you, TV and commercials are probably the highest form of hypnosis that exists on the planet. All right? So it's not a matter of whether you're exposed to hypnosis and whether you're being hypnotized. You are. The question is, who's hypnotizing you and who's hypnotizing you is the food processing companies. How many ads a day do you see from food companies? Diet companies are one of the same, you know, So I aim to be. And that's why I say. When I say it's a mission for me. My. One of my missions in life is to help as many people as possible live at their goal weight. And it's a mission for me because this is life or death to me. My father died at 54 of a heart attack, was 9 years old. It didn't have to be that way. And so for me, it's. This is so much deeper than, like, wearing the. The skinny jeans. This is really serious to me. And that's why I get on every day, you know, to give you some. So you can hear some things that are actually helpful when it comes to your weight. And I really mean that. I'm not trying to be conceited here. I'm just saying, like, it's gotten to the point now when it comes to your weight that you're just always hearing more of the same. It's a little different, Ray. So this month, though, now I need to eat more protein. And next month I need to eat less refined carbs. And the month after I need to eat more meat. The month after that, I need to track these. They found these new micronutrients we gotta track. I'm gonna track that. And next month. So, no, it's a different macro. We gotta track. And somebody. They're always telling you what to Do. They're always giving you something to do. That ain't your problem. Your core problem with your weight is your mindset. You have a dieter mindset at this point. You. When you think about weight loss, you can only think about like a dieter. And that's very intentional. So. Yeah. But great job, Jen. Get in the program. Be. Listen to hypnosis day and night. That's why it works so well. It's basic. You know, again, I could. I could make everyone lose. I can't make everyone lose weight. But. But I can make a lot of people lose weight. They put commercials me, put me on tv. People listen to me every day. You know, but close we can get as a podcast. I'm here every day here every day, Monday through Friday. All right. I'm feeling, looking thin all because of you. All right. Sanjita says I'm feeling and looking thin all because of you. All right. I like it. More power to you, Jim. Thank you. I was love hearing my success stories. I live for it. I live for it. Next says thank you. I can't wait to join your group. All right, Meg, we'll be waiting for you. I can't wait till you join it. It's so exciting. I'm telling you folks. Oh, I'm hitting like my final form. Program yourself then. I've been doing. I gotta find this. I'm gonna look for it this week. I'm. I'm. This is kind of a week. The next couple weeks is I. I kind of downshift a little bit, kind of organize and. And it's. It's that. But I'm gonna look for my old Program Yourself Thin advertisement. The first one I ever had. It's literally over 20 years ago I had this. So I've been doing Program Yourself thin for over 20 years. And this year has been unbelievable in terms of the growth in the program. So again, like I said, oh, man, the reminders. I've wanted to do this for so long and they're so good. And you're getting reminded and oh, it's so good. Program yourself then. I don't know, folks. I. I'm not. I'm trying not try. I'm not. I'm trying to pat myself on the back and just. This isn't all about me and my program. It's about you and weight. But I'm just telling you, I'm so. I'm so excited about programming yourself then right now I could almost cry. It is just. I said I. You know, it's like when you work on stuff long enough, you know, eventually it's really hard for things not to work out better, you know, and program yourself has been such a journey because this is something I had to create from scratch to some degree, you know what I mean? Which I'm not saying I learned from a lot of people. Okay. But in terms of, like, how do you help someone live at their goal weight? I began asking that question over 30 years ago, and for over 20 years, I've been doing it professionally. And the truth is that I didn't really. I don't find anyone giving that answer. I don't. I don't know who you're gonna go learn from. If you want to find out how to have the mindset of a person who lives at their goal weight, how do you think like a thin, healthy person? And when you think about where you're going to learn that from, what pops in your head? Nothing. You know, there's no answers for that. You know, it's all dieting. So it's like, you know, it's been 20 years of me running. You know, it felt like a maze. You know, you try something that didn't work, you try something else that didn't work. I'll try this. Oh, I got a little further. Oh, I hit another wall. Oh, that didn't work. You know, but finally, finally, things really start all clicking together. So, anyways, it's fun for me. Let's see what is. Sanjita said, treated myself for a reward meal on Saturday night, but went back on track on Sunday. Jim. All right, nice job, Sanjita. That's the point, right? We want to be able to have enjoyable, pleasurable meals. We don't want to just lose weight and be miserable for the rest of our lives. We want to be able to maintain our goal weight in the most enjoyable, comfortable way possible. And one way of doing that, I believe, is to be able to have, in the program, we call them pleasure meals. But to be able to have pleasure meals, pleasure days, and then be able to get right back on track, that, to me, is the hallmark, the foundational piece of being able to live at your goal weight. I say this all the time. I think the number one skill to getting to your goal weight and staying there is the ability to get back on track quickly, which is to say you're going to get off track for the rest of your life. See, dieters always think their success is tied to being perfect. And so you approach your weight loss as if it's like an endurance test of how long Can I be perfect? And you think of it like a streak. How long can I do it? How long can I keep it up? How long can you keep it up? And then you, you do it, you do it, do it. And then you collapse and then you can't do it anymore. And then, then the months go by and then you get all upset again about your weight. That's it. Okay, I gotta jump into, I gotta do it. And it's like you got one, one mode, one approach when it comes to your weight loss and it don't even work. But because you only have one, you just keep doing it, you know? So, yeah, having a pleasure meal is great. So good job. Good job, Sanjita. Asta says I struggle a bit finding my way around in all the sites in the program. Are they getting reorganized in the update? Yes, Asta, they absolutely are. They're all getting reorganized. So, yes, it's been a little confusing. I'm not gonna lie. Again, please understand that confusion really was because I was trying to make things better. One thing that happened this year is I started using an app called Circle, which is a community app. And so my goal was that I was going to deliver the program in the Circle app and the community thing. Everything was going to be in Circle. But Circle did not the program thing. It just had a little weird issues. So finally a couple weeks ago, I decided, that's it, I'm not doing this. We're still using Circle as a community app because it's great for that. But now there's basically, there's the Circle app, which is for the community, and there's the program, the membership area for the program and the membership for the program has been cleaned up. But the biggest thing is that the emails you're getting each morning and night now, if you want them, they're just more navigation. So they bring you through each day's session. There's links there, so if you ever need to get anywhere, it's all right there. And you're getting those every day, so it's easy to find. So I understand as to, and I do believe absolutely that it's getting clearer. But also remember this Asta, that if you ever have any questions, you can open up a help desk ticket and. Or get on the Tuesday live Q A and we will go right through it. Live, right? That's another cool thing that happens is that every Tuesday we have a live Q A where I get on and I'm right in the program. So if you're like, I don't know where to find this? Or I don't know this. I don't know this. I'll show you. Like in real time. I share my screen, show you where to go. If you can't make that call, you can ask questions earlier. So. Yeah, so. So, yeah, if you're confused or you find having any trouble finding anything, Asta, please let me know. But I do think you're gonna find it. It's. It's going to be more reorganized as well. Anyways, what's up, Jenny? Jenny says, I'm a bit annoyed with myself. I'm meeting a group of ladies for a pre Christmas thing and we're all meeting in the pub and having fish and chips. Someone asked everyone for their orders so it could be booked in now. So I did. Then someone else said, I'll skip the food, thanks, but still coming. I'll pinch a chip. Why didn't I think of that? I never even thought of it. And I'm supposed to be thinking about what I would do if I was already the thin me. It didn't even cross my mind to just not order. Will I ever get this mindset in my head? All right, Jenny, well, listen, listen. It's funny. I, I. You, you know, you should. You should re. You should copy and paste what you wrote, Jenny, and then reread it, okay? And. Because this is a really important point, right? So first of all, great job, okay? But you're making a huge mistake. You're thinking that because I'm trying to think like a thin, healthy person, that I already know how to think like a thin, healthy person, Jonah. Mean, so. You're always learning, Ginny. So to me, it's so funny, because what you said can really be seen from either side, right? We can. We can look at it and you can be like, oh, I didn't even think about that. And be upset with yourself because you didn't think about it because you didn't know it, because this is a new process for you, okay? And. Or wait, so hold on. So you can look at that, right? You can be like, I didn't even think about that. What's wrong with me? Am I ever gonna get this? I'm so stupid. And then they thought it. They did it, right? So we look at it that way. Or we can say, oh, I didn't even think about that. That's a great strategy. From now on, I'm gonna start using that. I'll use it next Christmas when I do this thing again if I go somewhere else. And I'll remember I don't have to eat if I don't want to. Okay, so, Ginny, literally, what you discovered here, again, mistakes are our greatest teachers. I wouldn't call that a mistake. I mean, that's just a learning, you know, but you've got to leave room for learning, Jenny. You don't know how to think like a thin, healthy person. You're practicing it, you're working on it, okay? But it doesn't mean you know how to do it. It's like if you're learning a language, it'd be like saying, I've been learning Spanish and all of a sudden I heard this person use words I'd never heard before. Am I ever going to learn this language? I've been practicing it, though, months and I heard new, new words, you know, But. But that's learning, Jenny. Right? So my. What I'm excited about for you, Jenny, what I know that you don't, is the fact that you're even having this conversation with yourself is evidence that you're improving. Because if this whole thing happened last year, you probably would have seen someone say that something like, that's crazy. I could never just skip dinner or whatever, you know. So the fact that you realize that's a strategy you didn't think about is great because it indicates that you're more aware and you're thinking about this stuff and now you have a better strategy available to you. That's exactly what we're learning here, folks. And this is what all you dieters need to hear. Because you dieters have been led to believe that it's the client comes right out of this idea, though. I know what to do. I just need to get myself to do it. No, you don't know what to do. If you've been overweight for 30 years, you'll fudgeing know what to do. No, you don't. Oh, because you can say I should eat less. Who gives a shit? Saying I should eat less means nothing. Having the strategies for how to eat less is everything. And most, most dieters don't have the patience to learn how to think like a thin, healthy person. Because, Jenny, that's how you're learning it. You're learning it through experience. That's literally. It's the exact same experience I've had. You're mad that you're. You're taking a class to learn Spanish and you're mad that you don't already know Spanish. Do you know what I'm saying? Like you're making the mistake that you should already know all these strategies and how a thin, healthy person thinks. Why should you know that? Why should you know that? You've just started kind of really thinking out of this concept of thinking like a thin, healthy person, but you don't know how to think like a thin, healthy person. Most likely, most of my clients don't. And so we're in the process of learning and growing. We're looking at our own experiences, learning, evolving better strategies, seeing what someone else says, oh, that's a good one. I'm gonna start using that. Not like, oh, that's a good one. Oh, why am I so stupid that I didn't know that already? You know what I mean? Like, we can't do that because that will prevent learning, right? Because what's happening, Jenny, is you learn something new, but the old pattern is saying, oh, you're stupid for not knowing that already. Do you see what I mean? So it's a trap that doesn't allow you to learn and grow and evolve. So this is a very important point for you will ever get this mindset in my head? Absolutely. And I would say the fact that you're even thinking what you're thinking about this whole scenario is proof that you're working on developing that mindset. But it's important if you understand you're not taking a fully formed mindset and putting in your head. You're starting with the mindset you have, and you're slowly and systematically developing and creating a new mindset a little bit at a time. You're not taking a fully formed mindset and just putting it in your head. So, oh, now Jenny knows exactly how to think like a thin, healthy person in every situation and knows everything, you know, I mean, like, it's not that. It's that you start to pay attention, okay, how do I get better? What do I look at? And again, you're doing it perfectly from what you wrote. So give yourself the space, though, to learn and grow. Learn from other people. Celebrate that. You didn't even know that. It didn't even come in your mind. I love stuff like that. I love when I say, holy shit, I never even thought of that. That, to me is that feeling, to me at this point is synonymous with big breakthroughs. Because you're absolutely right to the day before you saw that message. It wasn't. It didn't exist in your head. That's what I'm trying to say. Let me give you a different example I like to use. If I tell you all to think of the Chinese word for book notice how there's nothing there, doesn't exist. You have no clue. And so when it comes to how to think like a thin healthy person, it's the same exact there's nothing there. You have no idea. So as you start walking this path of how to learn to think like a thin healthy person. Yes. The entire path is you coming up against new strategies that you had no idea about. Didn't. Oh, I never thought of that. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, I didn't think that. I didn't realize that. That's the whole process of growth and improvement and evolution, Jenny. So I hope that helps. But I think you're on your way. So I appreciate you saying that. That's a really interesting one. So I appreciate you saying that. Please share my email, Jim. We'll be waiting. Yep. Yeah, I got that Sanjita, I'll get that for you. I know it. And if I don't, just remind me tomorrow. Jen says replying to Jenny fish and chips once in a while isn't a problem. Maybe next time order but only half of the meal, then bring it home. Yeah, exactly that too. And again we want to have a plan A, B and C. So. Yeah, but again. And we're not just thinking. We're not like again with program yourself then we're not just thinking about the moment. That's another thing dieting has done that's really screwed up your brains is that with dieting you can only think about right now. If you're not losing weight this week, then it's not working, you know, and that's no way to succeed with nothing. I can't think of anything that if you hold yourself to that standard you're going to do very well with. So again I have a much longer timeline and so to me I'm just looking to develop better strategies each and every day and it's addicting. Okay, but you're well on your way, Jitty. I can tell by what you're. Are you thinking about it? Moira says I've been on a diet for 40 years. It works sometimes. Yeah, so funny it doesn't work sometimes. I. I'll tell you that too. Let me just say that. And I think this is clarifying for you all. So take it or leave it. You know, again, I'm just here to give you some different ideas. Take them or leave them, I don't give a. I'm just here to try and help out as best I can. Everything I say is not correct. I know this. I just try and Say enough stuff that is helpful and correct to move you forward. But one thing I would definitely urge you all to push back on is when you all say your diets work. Because sometimes I'll like. Because people get on here and they say, dieting doesn't work. I lost 50 pounds. I lost 60 pounds on my diet. It's like, I'm not saying that you can't lose weight on a diet. That's not what I mean when I say a diet doesn't work. Diets definitely can help you lose weight in the short term. I want to make that crystal clear. When I say diets don't work, what I mean is they don't help you lose weight the long term. And that's a fact. And so I would suggest that when you say, oh, the diet works or it doesn't work, I would bet. I would. I would suggest that you start to really evaluate that in the long term. I think that's very clarifying because I think a lot of people confuse themselves by saying, oh, no. Oh, oh. Atkins works really great for me. Atkins is amazing for me. I lost 50 pounds on it. I lost six. It's like, okay, well, what happened? Oh, you know, I didn't go to the bathroom in three weeks, so I had to stop doing it. Oh, okay. Well, that's not. That's not working great. Yeah, that helped you lose weight in an unsustainable way that you can't keep up. But that. I wouldn't say that's working. That wouldn't be my definition of working. My definition of working is that you get to your goal weight in the easiest, most enjoyable, comfortable way possible. Wouldn't that be good? Wouldn't you like that? Wouldn't you like to get to your goal weight and stay there in the easiest, most enjoyable, comfortable way possible? And I know you don't know how, but. But the bigger question is you never even consider that as a possibility. You. You never try and answer that question. You know, that's the part that I think you got to reflect on. The fact that you. You. Most dieters like, never mind that they don't know how to make weight loss easier and enjoyable and comfortable. Never mind they don't know how. I get that. I'm trying to take a step back and say, you don't even think that's even possible. You never even consider or ask the question, how can I make weight loss easier or more enjoyable? It's just hard. It's got to be hard. No pain, no gain. Off. I. I'm sitting here 30 years. In 30 years I lost £50. It's been over 30 years. I haven't dieted once. I don't exercise any consistent way. I kind of do now some resistance stuff for different reasons. I'm older, but I mastered my weight through mastering my eating. Primarily master my mindset, lifestyle and eating. So anyways, yeah, Moira says, yeah, lost weight and then put it all back on again and again again. I, I know Moira, right? I mean that's like, that's, that's the, that's the norm. That's the norm. That's what most people's experience is, is they lose weight and then they put it on. They lose weight, they put it on and it becomes this thing where it's like, oh my God, what's going on? Well, it must be the leptin signaling. Oh, the signaling. Once you're overweight, your body just wants you to be overweight. Bullshit. Because how come there's people that lose weight and keep it off though? Anyone talking to them, what's going on with their hormone signaling? Because I've studied it. I, I, for over 30 years. That's who I'm, that's what I'm transmitting to you. I didn't come up with all this stuff. I talked to people that had lost weight and kept it off for at least two years. That's how I started my journey. And I began to obsessively get obsessed and talk to people that lost weight and kept it off. And when you do that, you notice almost instantaneous. I'm not talking about dieters. I'm not talking about someone who lost £50 last month. I'm talking about someone who lost weight and has kept it off for a couple years at least. They talk totally different. It's night and day. It's so obvious. And when you start speaking to these people, you start to realize it's crystal clear where the problems are. And it's mindset, it's, it's smacks you in the face. It's so obvious. Maddie says hi. What are your thoughts on intermittent fasting? It's really helping me. And I feel great. Then great. You know, again, there's no right or wrong. There's only what works for you. I can speak intermittent fasting as a diet. I don't like intermittent fasting as a concept and an idea. I like a lot. I intermittent fast. But I, I done inter. I don't call it intermittent fasting. I call it nighttime fasting. I came, I started doing this over 30 years ago, before intermittent fasting was a thing. Now, the reason I say that as a point is that when I did it, I did it slowly. I started again. I used to eat pretty much right up until bed. And I started making a bigger window between when I stopped eating and when I went to bed. And that kind of became a fasting window for me, where now I'm, I don't know, 12, 13, 14 hours. I don't eat. Somewhere around there. And so that, that's all great. I love it. My body gets a rest. I think it's wonderful. What I don't like about intermittent fasting as a diet is that it's a diet. And again, now you get this diet mindset. Folks, listen, it's never. It's not the diet problem. Like, again, the diets are all the same. You've got to get this. I think once you understand this, it's very eye opening. You have to stop thinking of each diet as a different diet. They're all exactly the same. Veganism is the same as Carnivore. Carnivore is the same as Atkins. Atkins is the same as Weight Watchers. They're all exactly the same. How? Because the mindset's always the same. No matter which of those plans you're going to do, you're going to start at 100% perfect on day one, right? You're going to jump into any of those plans you're going to do. You're going to jump in 100. And that is the problem. That's the core problem. That's the dieting mindset. That's what's ruining you more than anything else. It's not the specifics. Whether you cut this macro or that macro or whether you do this strategy, it doesn't even matter. That's way a secondary problem to the core initial problem of you as a dieter is that you've got to jump into it 100 on a Monday and change everything all at once. And the same problem exists for intermittent fasting when you approach it as a diet, because what are you going to do? You know, for me, it took a while to get used to not eating at night. It took a while to have a period of time where I wasn't eating anything and make it feel normal. And so intermittent fasters, they got to jump right in on, okay, 16 hours a day, 18 hours, I'm not going to eat right. You turn everything into a fucking endurance test and a fight and a white knuckle affair. And that is the core problem because it's going to cause you to associate stress and stress and strife to your weight loss. And that's the core problem you have right now. If you're a dieter, your core problem is that you've been dieting for so long and it hasn't worked, that you're now apathetic, that you can't even get, get yourself to get started on anything because you don't believe it's going to work. And even if it does work, you don't think it's going to last. And that's where you really get into a pickle. But I'm here to tell you that the core reason for that is the mindset of being a dieter. I can't stress that enough. So again, intermittent fasting, I'm indifferent to it. I like it personally as a tactic. I don't like it as this idea that's the only thing you need to do. I hate that about dieting so much. Dieting is always dieting. Marketing is all built around the concept of the one thing concept, the one thing philosophy. Every single diet is the same because they're trying to boil it all down to one thing. It's all marketing. Dieting is all marketing. It's all bullshit. And so it's this idea that you just, just don't eat for 16 hours and you'll be all set. Just stop eating meat, you'll be all set. Just only eat meat, you'll be all set, you know, and it's not like that. For you to influence your weight long term, you need a comprehensive holistic system. Again, I don't know. Find another comprehensive holistic system. I'm not telling you that mine's the only one. It's the only one I know of, so, so whatever. But, so for me personally though, if I'm going to go after my weight, I'm going to have a mindset component, a lifestyle component and eating component. Those are the big three. And I want to know how to run my mind. It's a little different than mindset, but without that, I don't really know how you've got any chance in hell of living at your goal weight. If you don't know. If you're not looking at how to improve your mindset, lifestyle and eating so it supports you to live at your goal weight. I don't know what is your strategy or plan to stay at your goal weight just to what, to just force it? I. I don't know. So LJ says my work potluck tip offer to bring the Drinks and bring some regular drinks, but also bring diet drinks. You participate while staying in track. That's a good. Yeah, it's a good suggestion. Yeah. So that's me when I went to Weight Watchers. Again, I like Weight Watchers Weight watch, my favorite out of the group. But, but it's goofy. I mean, Weight Watchers, the only reason, and I think Weight Watchers probably the top of the list of most effective diets ever, you know, but, but, but all of that is only because they have social. There's social component to it, you know, and they're cutting a lot of that out because Weight Watchers as a philosophy, as a concept of weight loss is silly, folks. It's just, it's just, you know, cartoonized calorie counting, you know what I mean? They just had to game gamified a little bit. But at the end of the day, the only thing really about Weight Watchers that works is the social piece, you know? But again, it's just not enough. I mean, I get people. I don't know if Vicky's here, but Vicki, she's a lifelong Weight Watchers member in the program. You know, there's a couple of them. So again, but I, you know, winners win, you know, I mean, like, like, again, it's not even surprising to me. That's a lot of my clients that they're smart and successful and so they just keep getting better and better. But I think it's smart, though. All right. I think I got all the questions. I'm gonna get out of here. Got more work to do. I'm kind of hungry. Hungry. I'm gonna myself a salad. Nourish my body here. And there's my body. I've been eating kind of a lot of bread. Not too much, though. I'm still managing it. I'm still managing it. Okay. Oh, there's Vicky. All right, Vicky's here. Superbaby says thoughts on protein and carbs. Yeah, I'm glad you asked that. I always got thoughts on protein and carbs. I think protein's obviously important, folks, but carbs are important too, okay? And I think that we live in a time in life where there's a lot of money being made off of protein. So you're getting a lot of messaging coming at you about how important protein is for you, when the reality is that the healthiest societies in the world, in the modern world, have a high carb, low protein diet. So there's not a lot of argument about that. So I know we live in a culture that's Telling you that carbs are really bad and protein's really great. Do not believe I, I don't believe it. Now again, take what you want. I'm not a nutritionist, so whatever, okay, I think protein's important. Please let me just reaffirm that. Let me say that one more time. I think protein's important, but I think healthy, natural, whole carbs are more important. And I think that's the biggest missing piece in people's diets is that they're not getting enough whole natural foods into their body. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, not getting enough of those. And I think without question, if you go by the blue zones, I believe the blue zones. I believe the blue zones. The science of the blue zones. And I believe just the concept of the blue zones. It makes a lot of sense to me that pretty much every culture with the healthiest weight in numbers of health are all high carb, low protein diets where they're eating a lot of healthy natural carbs and protein. Enough protein. It's not hard to get enough protein. No one's protein deficient unless you have a really, really unique situation. But if you're eating enough calories, you're eating enough protein. So again, we live in a world though, that, that's gonna us and sell us. I get, I get ads every single day. I get, people ask me if I want to sell protein stuff. You understand? I'm on the other side of this too because I'm constantly getting stuff from. It's such a racket, you know what I mean? Like the whole, the whole weight loss supplement, this thing is such a racket, you know, I get all the time about to promote stuff. I don't do it. As you can tell. I'm not promoting, I promote program yourself then, I suppose. And even here I make it a point not to promote my program. I don't want this to be an infomercial, but I'm not going to get on here and promote all this. But what I'm saying is there's a lot of money to promote protein. And that's why you're hearing so much about protein. And you would have to tell me if you love protein so much, you tell me the society you're referencing as the pinnacle of health. You tell me the high protein society that you're basing your decisions on. And it better not be the Inuit, Eskimo and the tribe out in Africa. It better not be them. Okay, so I want something else. You tell me the big society, civilization, population. You're referencing that consumes a lot of protein for a while now and has the health markers and ratings that you want to emulate. You let me know that. Okay? I can sit here and tell you all day long about the cultures and societies that, and populations that eat high carb, low protein diets that have generational health. I can list those. All right, again, you start with the blue zones and pretty much every country on the planet. As you watch them shift from a high carb, low protein diet into a high protein, refined carb diet, you watch them all get unhealthier. So again, I do think that the protein stuff is way overstated. Personally, I think the amounts of protein they want you to eat are, are blown up. I, I don't agree with them, and that's just my opinion. Take it or leave it. But I do think that's a thing these days to watch out for. Moyer says, let me promote your program. It's great. Thank you, Moir. I appreciate that. I'm glad you're here. So, all right, everyone, we'll get out of here. I do have a lot more to do with what's up. Vicki says Yep. Yeah, here you go. So I'll kind of close up with Vicki again. She's, she's in Weight Watchers. She's a lifetime member because she's been successful with it. But again, as like I said with most successful people, they just keep getting better, they keep improving. And Vicki's no different. So she's in the program, you know, and so, you know, she still goes in person. Weight Watchers meetings, a lifetime member when schedule permits. But as I would say, PYT was my missing mindset link. PYT helps me deal with lifelong diet mentality, even at goal weight. Here's the PYT and all, or something always. Thank you, Vicki. I appreciate that. And I like the way you put it because that's what we need. We need the mindset work. Even successful people need the mindset work because we, we never learned it. We've never learned how to create a thin, healthy mindset. It's that simple. You know, I'm not saying this is simple, but I'm saying it can be explained simply to understand at least. And the idea, you've never learned how to think like a thin, healthy person. What you have done through dieting is trying to fight against yourself, and it doesn't work. All right? So remember that. And if you want to start walking a different path, go click the link in my bio or go to program yourself then and go get the free hypnosis session that I give you. That stuff's all being updated now too. I'm also within this week here, I'll be giving you all a free report about how to use the program yourself then method which is primarily built around the redo rehearsal technique.
