The worst weight loss motivation is also the most common. It's what I call spontaneous pain-based motivation. This is when you step on the scale, see a picture of yourself, catch your reflection, or the clothes don't fit, and you get so upset you say, I don't care what I have to do, I need to lose this weight. And in that emotional place, you choose an extreme plan that will give you fast results. But the problem is, in this extreme plan, you can't keep it up and you never get the results you want. And you repeat this process over and over again. So how do you fix this? The first step is to take a step back, relax. Calm down and realize you don't wanna lose the weight fast. You wanna lose the weight for good. Start orienting this process around mastering your weight in sustainable ways that will give you the results you want. That puts you on a completely different path. So for the first time, maybe ever, you can start to get better results than you've ever gotten.
