Using Your Strengths To Lose Weight

In this live coaching session Jim Katsoulis explains a strengths‑based approach to weight loss, arguing that most people fail because they focus on fixing weaknesses instead of leveraging what they already do well. He guides listeners through a process of identifying personal strengths—whether obvious traits like loyalty or less obvious ones like worrying—and shows how to map those strengths onto weight‑related actions, such as using loyalty to stay accountable to loved ones or turning detail‑orientation into meticulous meal planning. Katsoulis stresses that recognizing strengths builds empowerment and a positive self‑image, which in turn improves weight outcomes. He then critiques the conventional diet mindset, pointing out that willpower is a limited resource and that diets waste it by demanding constant self‑control. Instead, he promotes habit automation and automaticity: develop habits that run on autopilot, reducing reliance on willpower. Daily weighing is presented as a data‑driven habit that helps people see long‑term trends despite short‑term fluctuations, with a rule of thumb that weight trends become reliable after about two weeks. Katsoulis introduces his "Goal Weight Pyramid" – mindset, lifestyle, and eating – as the three pillars of his Program Yourself Thin system. The program combines hypnosis sessions, mindset re‑programming, lifestyle coaching (sleep, hydration, stress reduction), and nutrition guidance (focus on whole foods, fiber, and balanced protein). He critiques GLP‑1 medications as a temporary band‑aid that does not address mindset or lifestyle, warning that reliance on them can lead to weight regain when discontinued. Community interaction is woven throughout: participants share experiences, ask questions, and receive real‑time feedback. Themes of acceptance, self‑compassion, and celebrating progress are highlighted as essential for long‑term maintenance. The session ends with a call to action to access free hypnosis recordings, the "Reprogrammed" training, and a weekly email series that delivers bite‑size lessons. Overall, the video blends psychological insight, practical habit formation, and a strengths‑focused philosophy to propose a sustainable, holistic pathway to losing weight and staying at one’s goal weight.

Using your strengths to lose weight. This is the secret to getting better results because most of the time people are trying to fix their weaknesses in order to lose weight because they focus on what they do wrong and they say, okay, now I'm going to start doing it right. And that is how they attempt to lose weight. But mathematically, it doesn't work out when you focus on fixing weaknesses. It is not as effective as focusing on your strengths. And so this is a completely different approach. We know you got weaknesses, but what we're going to do is we're going to see everything through the lens of your strengths primarily. And so it begins by thinking, what are your strengths? And everyone's different. Everyone's unique. Everyone's got their own strengths in things that they are able to do that they find easy that other people might struggle with. Maybe you're loyal, maybe you're patient, maybe you're relaxed. Maybe you're an action taker. Maybe you are really detail-focused. It doesn't matter. It's any— it's the universe of strengths that are available to us. The first step is figuring out what are your strengths? What are you good at naturally? And on top of that, what are you good at that sometimes doesn't look like it's the best? Worrying can be like this because worrying is kind of two sides of the same coin of being detail-oriented. Right. Right. The more you can worry, typically the more you're able to kind of be very, very good with lots of details. You just worry about them. But again, we can even look at things that we might consider not strengths. But if we look at it from a slightly different angle, they might become strengths. So take a little bit of time and reflect on what are your strengths. And it doesn't have to just be obvious related to weight loss ones like willpower or focus or motivation. Right. It doesn't have to be those. It can be literally anything. You know, so how do you— if you're loyal, how can that help you with your weight? Right. But we can utilize that. And one of the ways you can utilize it is that if you're loyal, maybe you make this process about being there more in a more present, fully present way with people that you love. Right. The people that you're actually most loyal to. How can you weave your weight motivation around them and showing up at a higher level for them by being able to improve your eating, your lifestyle, and ultimately your weight. So when you start looking at things through strengths, even kind of relatively obscure strengths that don't seem like they're related to weight, you start building yourself up. That's one of the first things that happens when you see the strengths in yourself. You start to identify that you've got a lot of strengths and you start to feel more empowered. You start to feel more powerful. And the more you start to feel that, that in itself starts to benefit you. But then what happens is when we acknowledge the challenges, and of course there's challenges, of course there's weaknesses, we frame them in terms of what your strengths are. So if you're, I don't know, you find that one of your weaknesses is that you get distracted and don't just, you don't stick to things. Okay. So what we want to do is we want to find our strengths and say, how can I use my loyalty In order to stick to something. And maybe in that situation, realizing that you are so loyal to your partner or someone else in your life, that if you weaved showing up for them at a higher level and you made this process not just about looking better, but about feeling better, about being better, so that you could show up for them so you could be even more loyal to them, then maybe that would increase the motivation and your ability to carry through. Whereas before you couldn't stick to it. Does that make sense? So again, we're starting to think in more multidimensional ways. We're not just thinking kind of linearly. We're kind of looking at the big picture from a bunch of different angles, and the different angles are your strengths. That's what I want you to do, because most people that I've ever worked with, and most people I work with, are extremely— they're overthinkers, they're perfectionists, they're action-oriented, take a lot of action. But I've noticed that those people a lot of times are not really aware of what their strengths are. They're so in their head beating themselves up and holding themselves to the fire that a lot of times they haven't taken a step back and really acknowledged all the strengths that they have access to within themselves. And so this is the first phase, is just recognizing all the different strengths and all their sizes and shapes too. It's not just things that you're super great at. It's a spectrum. And anything that you feel like in certain contexts you have a strength here, identify it and notice it because you start to build yourself up. And then what starts to happen, in addition to you starting to change the way you define yourself, because you start defining yourself through your strengths, is now you bring those strengths into the different challenges and weaknesses that you have had historically. But again, it's all framed through a solution-oriented mindset that is connected to all of your abilities and powers. that you're bringing into the situation. And it is, for so many reasons, one of the most powerful things that you can do in order to lose weight, because it is built around your best. And this, you're going to find, is almost a complete opposite approach than what you have been doing, because most people think about their weight loss through their weaknesses. And it's very discouraging and it's very frustrating and it keeps us stuck. So this really is the key to changing up the entire approach for how you think about your weight. If you want to go deeper into this way of thinking, click the link in my bio, go to programyourselfthin.com, or if you're over on Facebook, you can just type mind, M-I-N-D, into the comments and it'll send you a link and you'll get that session automatically. In addition to that session, as soon as you sign up, I also give you a training called Reprogrammed: How to Live at Your Goal Weight Without the Fight. That is completely free. So go check that out and go get started with that. How you doing, Pamela? Hey Debbie, how's it going out there in Facebook land? Hope you're all having a nice weekend. Here we are on Monday. Um, boy, middle of fall, it is gorgeous. Gorgey gorge. It's the best time. Yeah, it's the best time. I, I love where I live. I love New England. But, um, fall is definitely one of the, the spectacular times of year. Oh my God, it's so gorgeous out. Weather's crisp. It's not cold yet though, but it's a little cool. Oh man, it is nice, nice. What's up, Jane? How's it going? But yeah, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask them. I'm here every Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern, to talk about weight, weight loss, how you're approaching it. Um, if you're stuck with anything, uh, we'll see if we can figure out a better way forward for you. Um, usually there is a better way forward. A lot of times people are kind of stuck in their own diet mindset, and that diet mindset is such a mental trap, you know, that, um, it can feel like there's no way forward in order to successfully manage your weight, when in reality there absolutely is. I promise you, and, uh, I prove it here every day. So if you think you are stuck with some kind of, um, if you think you're stuck with some kind of challenge that I've never heard of or that's impossible to fix, I'm Um, throw it this way. Let me, let me take a swing at it because I bet I can help you. Uh, Debbie says fall in Florida, not— yeah, there's no fall in Florida, huh? I love Florida weather. I, I, of course, I always go to Florida like in the middle of winter, so of course I would. Although last time I went to Florida a couple years ago, and, uh, it was— no, that was actually not that time. Yeah, that was the time before. It was as cold there as it was here in Massachusetts, but Yeah, last time was beautiful actually. Oh man, there's nothing better leaving New England in the freezing cold and 2 hours later stepping out into nice warm Florida weather. Oh, for sure. Oh yeah, Pamela. All right, cool weather in Oklahoma after triple digits. Oh my goodness gracious, triple digits. Yeah, yeah, it gets hot out there in Oklahoma, right? It's flat, it's the sun on you. Let's see here. So Vanessa, Vanessa says, just joined the program. I'm blown away by the amazing content so far. All right, Vanessa, thank you. Appreciate you sharing that. Um, yeah, content's pretty good, right? Yeah, got a pretty good thing going on, and it's just going to keep on getting better. So again, for any of you, uh, that are new here, make sure you at the very least get the hypnosis session I give you. It's completely free if you've never experienced hypnosis, or if you have experienced hypnosis. Hate to say this, I don't want to shit talk my, my fellow hypnotists, but I'm one of the highest paid hypnotists on the planet. Um, and unfortunately, a lot of hypnotists just, you know, they don't have the, the experience, um, necessary to get the results that you really want, you know. So even if you have tried hypnosis, give it another shot. See if how I'm doing is any different, catch any different results, makes you feel any different. And in addition, hypnosis isn't enough anyways. Uh, you really do need a plan. You need a system. You need a comprehensive strategic approach. to managing your weight and then program yourself thin. We kind of summarize that process with the goal weight pyramid, where we basically break it down into mindset, lifestyle, and eating. How to think, live, and eat like a thin, healthy, happy person. These are skills you develop. Obviously, we break them down a little further here, but at the end of the day, you learn how to think, live, eat like a thin, healthy, happy person, and it's a skill that you develop. So that once you have that skill, it runs on autopilot. Think about all the skills you developed. Probably the one of the best ones right here, the old computer mouse, right? I don't know if you remember the first time you ever used the computer mouse. Wasn't easy, right? The little thing was moving all over the place. You're getting annoyed. You're getting frustrated. If you don't remember, use your other hand. Go use your other hand. You're going to find out the knowledge of using a computer mouse does not transfer over to your other hand, really. It's gonna feel awkward. It's gonna feel weird. But if you kept practicing with that hand, then it would feel normal and natural. Okay, so this is the the focus on skills is at the end of automaticity, and you need automaticity in your thoughts, feelings, lifestyle, and behaviors, or you're not going to stick with it because your brain is literally organized to conserve energy, and your diets. Do the opposite of conserve energy. Diets are just blasting through your energy, blasting through your willpower. Willpower is not a finite resource. I mean infinite resource. You only got so much willpower, so it's important that you use it strategically. And dieting does not use willpower strategically. It uses as if it's an unlimited resource. It is not. You only have so much willpower. So if you're gonna really manage your weight, you're gonna have to learn how to influence your behaviors without having to rely on willpower. The answer is not a secret. It's focusing on your habits. It's focus on automaticity. That's got to be part of the focus, though. You can't expect that you're going to micromanage yourself and your eating and your weight for the rest of your life because you're not, unless you just decide to give everything else up in life. Your life is too busy to just be obsessed constantly on food and eating and exercising. But yeah, Vanessa, thank you for sharing that. I'm glad you're in the program. Jane says, I always find it weird that some days I can eat very little and gain or maintain my weight, and yet yesterday I had a massive cookie, chicken cordon bleu, and a bowl of ice cream and I lost weight. Um, yeah, well, that's a really important, really important point. So I hope everyone hears that. Everyone's probably experienced it to some degree. Uh, now this is one of the key reasons why in Program Yourself Thin I always recommend if you're in the weight loss phase Weigh yourself every day. I really think you should. People say, well, I'm going to freak myself out. Well, I never said weigh yourself the way you have every day. Weigh yourself in a new enlightened way where you relax and calm yourself down and you look at it as data and you develop this relationship with the scale where it's just one more tool you use to manage your weight instead of being at the mercy of the scale as if the scale is what runs the show. It does not. You run the show and the scale is just a tool you use to get to your goal. You probably don't feel that way, but again, this is a problem. The scale is a key piece of tool, right? It's a key tool for you to use to get to your goal weight. Being scared of the scale is like a chef being scared of a knife. It'd be hard to be really good at what you're doing if you don't like to use the main tool you need to use to do it. The landscaper scared of a rake. I'll spare you. I won't do any more. But come on, you know what I mean? Like, if it to me, the scale ought to feel like the speedometer of your car. It's just another piece of data. So anyways, that's the first point. But if you start weighing yourself every day, what you'll quickly notice is yes, there are days where you eat like shit and you lose weight the next day, and there are days when you ate great and you didn't lose any weight. That's exactly what you'll notice. That's what all of you will notice, and the reason you'll notice that is because weight is inconsistent and unpredictable in the short term, but very consistent and predictable in the long term. But we got to recognize that because it doesn't work the way you think it works. What do you what do you want from me? So so what if you could eat a bunch of food yesterday and then today you're you're lighter? What does that mean? So what if you ate great yesterday and today you're heavier? What what does that mean? What does it mean? Because I know it absolutely just runs the show for most dieters. But what does it mean? What's it mean when your weight? What what does it mean when you ate good yesterday and now you're heavier? When you ate shitty yesterday and now you're lighter? What does it mean? I've got my ideas of what it means, but what does it mean for you? Because this matters. Because that scale, for most people, that scale is dictating whether they're going to go on or not, right? And if that scale's not what you thought it was going to be— I mean, you're happy this time, right? Because you're happy with this one, Jane, right? Because it went down. I, I didn't eat great yesterday and it went down. Huh, look at this. I wouldn't feel that way. I'd say, this gives a shit. Is it? I care as much about it going down when age like shit is it? I do when it goes up when I. It doesn't matter what your scale shows tomorrow means practically nothing. What it shows is a trend line from last week to this week, last month to this month matters. But I hope you internalize that as yeah, you know what? Jim's right. Weight loss really— weight really is inconsistent, unpredictable in the short term. It really is weird. It really is weird, huh? Weight doesn't really move the way I thought it would. I thought if I ate good today, it would show up on the scale tomorrow, be lighter. Nope, it's— that's not how it works. I don't know why. There's too many factors. I don't know why. You don't know why. Scientists don't seem to know why. I, I've looked it up. I, I can't find an answer. I don't think anyone can tell me absolutely. So in the short term, I've not seen good explanations. This is why calorie calculators are— use them if you want to, but understand they're guesstimators. They're not, they're not like these scientific equations that are going to give you the exact number. There's too many factors to take into account. So yeah, I don't know, Jane. I would just use that as evidence that, yeah, your weight does weird things day in and day out, and It doesn't matter what happens day to day so much. Now, one thing I learned from weighing myself every day as well is that for me, I came up with a new rule from weighing myself every day that it takes about 2 weeks for the weight to show up consistently. So if I kind of, you know, get a little off track and start eating more shittier stuff, my weight will— it might go up, might go down for the 2 weeks. It's kind of fluctuating. And then after 2 weeks, it kind of like it nudges up. That's just a ballpark general figure, but that's a general ballpark figure. Based on my body, over years of weighing myself every day and just noticing the pattern. Do you think if you don't think that's really valuable information to have? You're wrong. It's super valuable because it works both ways. Because if I start eating well, same shit. I'm expecting about two weeks of just weirdness, and then after two weeks, it it it lowers down. And so, if I start eating well and I'm gonna do it for a week and I step on the scale and it's up or down or whatever, I don't give a shit. I'll step on the scale because I just—I'm tracking what the data says. But I don't care if it's up or down because I really care about—I get to two weeks—that's when I start to measure it. And depending on the situation, might be four weeks before I really consider or measure it. Yeah. Oh nice. Yeah, Jane's up in Vancouver, BC. Can play pickleball today in the sunshine. Yeah, the sun is out, it's so beautiful. I'm about to take my dog for a walk. It's so nice, so nice. Very good. Yeah, Debbie says, using willpower to be nice to myself, that's about as far as it will go today. That's fine, that's fine. And that's so true, that's such a real statement, you know. I think I mean, in my opinion, understanding willpower is crucial to managing your weight. And I think most dieters have no idea what willpower is or what it's doing or how it operates. And so what most people do is they think there's just this unlimited amount of willpower. Let's, let's do it. We're going to change all our behavior now. This is Monday, so everything's going to be different. I'm going to completely eat differently. And it's like, no, you're gonna eat differently for a couple days and then you're gonna go back to normal because you're gonna burn yourself right out. I always say the way people rely on willpower is as if you were running a marathon and you're gonna run it like a sprinter. And it's like, how far are you gonna get before you pass out? What's up, Happy Life? Yeah, but yeah, what are y'all dealing with? You know, thinking about weight anymore? I don't know, people just— if they're thinking about weight, they're just going GLP-1s. I know it's a lot of people, but we'll see. Because I told— I was saying this last week, it was so interesting. I was in a forum and it was a bunch of people on GLP-1s talking about stuff. But one of the patterns I noticed is a lot of people saying, I'm gonna do the GLP, I'm gonna do it for a few more months until it gets my weight. And I said, oh shit, you know, uh-oh, the diet mindset's so installed that people are approaching their GLP-1 with it. And this is going to be interesting because, well, I think most people know that you have to be on the GLP-1 for it to work. It's so if you lose 50 pounds on it and you come off it, you're going to put 50 pounds back on and quickly, most likely, because now your body composition starts to change because you lose weight quickly with the GLP-1, so you lose muscle quickly as well. And so if you do decide to come off the GLP-1, now you put more weight on But now comes back as more fat, less muscle. And I'm curious to see what happens when people go through a few rounds of that as well. And a lot of people I know have—they're approaching the GLP-1s. I'm just going to do this till I get to the goal. That's the wrong approach. It's you're going to be sorry. I think you're going to be sorry if you're approaching it that way. Now, if you want to, if you plan on being on a GLP-1 for the rest of your life, fine. You know that that's there's evidence that that'll be relatively safe. And fine, then then then you know that's a long-term plan. But the idea that you're going to do it to get to your goal weight and come off it is the exact same approach that people have been doing with dieting their whole time. Because dieters always say, "Well, I'm going to do this until I get to my goal weight," you know. But now they're doing it with the GLP-1. It's important for people understand you if you're going to do GLP-1 and you want the consistent results, you got to stay on it. And or you're like the people in the program in my program who. Are on it. They're on it, but they're actively learning to reprogram themselves. They're learning how to think, live, and eat differently while they're on it, so that if they do decide to come off it, or when they decide to come off it, they're prepared. They've got a plan. Because if you're just on it and you lose weight, and then you think you're gonna come off it and stay at that weight, you're not. It's a chemical. Intervention. And I just think that's important for people to recognize because you— I think I'm curious to see because I think what's going to happen is people are going to come off it, they're going to put the weight back on, then they're going to want to go back on it. And I don't know how many cycles of that— I, that's— I'm curious about that too. I'm curious about a lot of things about it, but that's one of my big ones is what's going to happen when— if people cycle on them. Because again, the weight loss is kind of rapid and you're losing muscle. And so every time you cycle through it, you're kind of losing more and more muscle. That's that's kind of scary, but we'll see. Happy Life says the only way I managed to lose just over whoop where'd that go? The only way I've managed to lose just over six stone is changing my mindset. Yes yes yes Happy Life there we go again folks everything I'm sharing with you was first learned by me by interviewing people that had lost weight and kept it off. I've interviewed over a hundred people that have lost weight and kept it off for at least two years. Over all these years, and there's a real pattern there. And the pattern is always— I've never seen someone who has not had a mindset piece of the whole thing. You know, now again, in Program Yourself Thin, I don't even think mindset's enough. I think it's the most important thing. Like, you've got a real rock-solid mindset, you got a good chance of figuring things out, but it certainly is not in any way guaranteed, in my opinion. If you're really serious about living at your goal weight, I think there's three core areas you've got to master: how to think, how to live, how to eat like a thin, healthy, happy person. And bonus step: you got to learn how to run your own mind too. Is that too much? I don't know. It's not for everyone. It's not for everyone, but it's a. I think we need a bigger approach. I always say that, you know, that, that it's— you need a comprehensive holistic strategy to manage your, your weight ultimately. So I appreciate someone who's lost 6 stones talking about being a mindset, you know. I mean, I don't know more proof you would need. That's a big accomplishment, right? Gluten-free Izzy says, yeah, GLP-1 thoughts. I was literally just talking about it, um, and in summary, I mean, I have a bunch of questions about it. My biggest question about the GLP-1 And I was just saying this. I noticed this last week is that a lot of times people are approaching GLP-1 as if they're dieters, and they're gonna use the GLP-1 temporarily because because again, dieting is a temporary mindset. Dieting is I'm gonna diet until I get to my goal weight. And this is the core problem all dieters have: is that you can't think of your weight loss as just a phase. The weight loss phase is just the first phase of a few of them. The main goal is not to lose weight. The main goal is to live at your goal weight. And so most dieters are just focused on losing it. And that's what I was saying, that I was on a forum and I was noticing a lot of people were talking about GLP-1s as a temporary solution. Meaning the way they were talking about is I'm going to be on GLP-1 until I get to my goal weight, then I plan on coming off of it. Well, then you plan on putting the weight back on. This is what I mean. And it's so— it's, it's very interesting to me because it's so clear-cut. I say this all the time with, um, I say this all the time with dieters because dieters are always, I'm gonna diet until I lose the weight. So what are you gonna do after that? I'll figure it out then. Will you? Will you figure it out then? Because it's estimated that 85 to 95% of dieters that lose weight put the weight back on. So what exactly are you gonna figure out? And what exactly are your chances of success? They don't seem very good to me. And we're now we're getting the exact same thing with GLP-1. It's the exact same mindset. It's just now it's GLP-1. It's not a long-term solution. And again, most people want to come off GLP-1. That was the other thing I learned. I mean, I know this thing, I've interfaced with this all day long, but it was interesting in the forum that how many people were planning on coming off it. And that gets to my second piece of information that I'm really fascinated by the GLP-1 is that I think most people, human beings have been on Earth for a million years. Everything about us is geared towards eating food. Now, in the last 50, 100 years, it's really been hijacked, you know, by the processed food industry and just, you know, nonstop food advertising and offers. Um, but at the end of the day, food is a very fundamental piece of entertainment and connection and rapport and all this other stuff in our lives that it represents. And I think that, you know, when people are losing weight, they don't give a shit. All the food noise stops, I'm losing weight, I don't give a shit. But I think once you get to your goal weight, and now you don't get to look forward to the weight loss anymore, you're just at your goal weight. But now you're like, I don't really even give a shit about food. Well, now we're talking about an entire different quality of life, where the real high point is that your weight is where you want it to be, perhaps. But holidays coming, you don't give a shit about the cookies grandma makes, you know, the lasagna aunt makes that you love used to love every year. Um, you go on vacation, you don't really give a shit what restaurants you go to. You don't really care. Just think about it, right? I mean, that's how it works. It increases your satisfaction, which makes you feel full, and it also tweaks your aversion system a bit, so you just feel right under nauseous. How much are you going to enjoy food when you feel that way? You know what I mean? Now, well, food noise is gone. It's a blessing. It's, it's, it's amazing. I, I understand. I've been helping people quiet food noise down for over 30 years. I get it. But when you do it unnaturally, you don't get it back unless you get off the medicine and put the weight back on. So you're talking about a life where you just never give a shit about food anymore. Fine, fine. It's not the life I want to pick. I love food. So that's just another thing. That's another, you know, everything's a, I guess, you know, a process, give and take decisions that we get to make. But, um, that's a pretty important one. That I'm curious to see how people deal with over over time. We'll see. We'll see. But I'm watching, and then the muscle one. Yeah, flipping through. So so I think a lot of people are not gonna want to stay on GLP ones long term. I think they're gonna find that their weight goes down and their quality of life starts to go down too. Oh my god! Even though you're at your goal weight, folks listen. There's nothing fucking magical that happens when you get to your goal weight. It's now you get to your goal weight and you're just like, oh my god! This is the most incredible thing that's ever happened. I'm never gonna overeat again. I'm never. Gonna put this weight back on. If that was how it was, you already been at your goal weight. You've been at your goal weight in your life. If it was so amazing, if it fixed all the problems, then why did you ever put the weight back on? Why did you ever put the weight on in the first place? So, you know, again, we've gotta— what the diet industry does, what the GLP industry does, which is a Slight, it's adjacent. Just a little skewed over. What these industries do is they get us to focus on the short term, just losing weight. This is why I wrote a book called *The Tao of Living at Your Goal Weight*. Please look at this book. It's living, living, living at your goal weight, living at it, living at it. Because getting there— are you kidding me? 2026? You cannot think that getting to your goal weight is the goal. It's part of the goal, right? It's part of the goal, but it's not enough just to have a goal of getting to your goal weight. You've all done that. You've all gotten your goal weight. Do you live in gratitude and happiness that you got to your goal weight one time, or do you feel frustrated and annoyed that you're overweight now and you're not there now? So I know that's the more accurate description. So moving forward, you can't just get seduced by short-term weight loss, in my opinion. You've got to think about how can I live at my goal weight in the easiest, most enjoyable, comfortable way possible. Are you asking that question? I don't know. Probably not. If you started asking it and answering it, wouldn't you be better off? How could you not be? That's what I think. Happy Life says, I used to feel guilty if I ate bad. Now I have a day off but get straight back to it the next day. Yeah, again, that's a One of the top, top strategies of people that successfully manage their weight, and it's why in Program Yourself Then we literally learn it right from the very beginning. First day, maintenance. We focus on maintenance from day one because the goal is maintenance. The goal is living at your goal weight. That's the goal. The goal is not just do crazy shit to lose weight. It's how do I live at this weight for the rest of my life on near autopilot? That's our that's our bar that we're setting for ourselves. And I want you to notice that as much as you've been thinking about weight loss and dieting, um, for decades at this point, guaranteed, you have never once in your life articulated your goal as, yeah, you know what, I actually want to get to my goal weight and then live there for the rest of my life on near autopilot in the easiest, most enjoyable, comfortable way I can. And I'm obsessed with that. Let's go. You had never done that. So you, with your big overthinking smart brain, are aiming it at how can I lose weight as fast as possible? Which is a dead end, or at best it's a rotary where you just keep spinning around. It's not what you want. Your goal is not to lose weight. Your goal is to live at your goal weight. Please make that distinction. And once you do, you very quickly realize, ah, fucking diets have no answers for me because diets are about how can I lose weight as fast as possible. They're about that first part of the phase. Not enough. It's not even what you want. So yeah, being able to get back on track is one of the most important skills there is. And dieting sets you up to not be able to do that because dieting is an all-or-nothing mindset. You're either doing it all perfectly or you're not doing it at all. Program Yourself Thin is an all-or-something mindset. You can do it all, but if you're not doing it all or can't do it all, then we're still doing something, which means we're always getting better. And that's the other philosophy we live by— the 1% better every day. Every day we get a little bit better at something. And when you start getting a little bit better every day at something related to your weight, After a year, you're not 365% better. You're 3,650% better because each improvement builds on the previous improvement and they start to exponentially compound. This is the secret to success. It's the secret to success in every area of your life. But you've never applied it to your weight because the diet industry has conditioned you to think about your weight in a time frame that's this big. How can I lose as much weight as possible today, this week? And if I don't lose weight this week, fuck it, I quit. That attitude ain't gonna do it. It's just not. It's not the right mindset, but it's not your fault. You just have never been shown another way to approach this, you know. But again, what you always notice here, if you ever hang out here, is people just pop up, and everyone who talks about like being successful with their weight for any period of time always says the same shit. It's always this mindset piece. It's always how they think differently about things, and that applies to everything. They think differently about the food. They think differently about themselves. They think differently about their lifestyle. These shifts have happened, and dieting never teaches you that. You know, so you're left to try and do the diet with your broken mindset, and as long as your mindset continues to be the same, you're going to continue to get the same results that you've gotten. So, what's up, Pat? Pat says yesterday son prepared a chef's table for the family. I overate but enjoyed every bite. Was too full, but my most amazing, exciting thought was I can't wait for tomorrow to get back on track. Thank you, Jim, for my now mindset. That is so awesome. I love that so much. And Pat's in the program. But that in a nutshell is it. I literally went through the same thing. I, I don't know what it was. I ate yesterday a little different than normal, slightly, but I was so full and And then even like— it— like, then I had my dinner. I'm like, I'm kinda— I'm so full. And it was like— it was the same thing. I— it was— I— it was good. Like everything I ate was so good. But it was like Monday, I was like, I can't wait to just go back to my normal Monday routine. And that's one of the biggest things you'll notice with Program Yourself Thin people is they'll get off track or they'll go on vacation or they'll— you know, whatever. Something will go on where they kinda get off track a little bit, whether it's a day or a couple weeks or whatever. But it's like they can't wait to get back on track. That's one of the biggest differences between Program Yourself Thin and diets. Because with diets, when you get off track, the last thing in the world you want to do is get back on track because it feels so monumental, feels so difficult to do it. So thanks for sharing that, Pat. I appreciate you saying that because that is such an important piece of the puzzle. And again, it goes right in line with what Happy Life was just saying, that if I get off track, I get right back on track the next day. You know, that's why in Program Yourself Thin, we spend a lot of time on that. Your ability to get back on track when you make a mistake, in my opinion, is probably the number one most important skill of living at your goal weight. And that is the exact opposite kind of mindset of a diet, because dieting is really much more about, um, being perfect, right? So dieting is always giving you the message that you need to be perfect in order to get those amazing results. And if you can't do that, then what's the point? But the point is that it's what you do consistently that really, um, is dictating your weight. You know, yeah, there we go. Happy Life. Yeah, I still, I still have a lot to lose, but I know I will get there. It's not a race, it's a journey. Yeah, and you've already done so much, Happy Life. So for you, it really starts to become this process where you balance out what you want to accomplish with what you've accomplished and really allowing yourself to truly enjoy and appreciate what you've done so far. So many people I've worked with, um, dieters especially, they lose a bunch of weight And they never really appreciate the weight loss because they're so fixated that they're still not at their goal weight. And I'm talking about sometimes there's people have lost like 100 pounds and they got 10 more pounds they want to lose, and they're just like— if you talk to them, you wouldn't know that they'd lost 100 pounds because they're still so stressed out and anxious about losing the next 10 pounds. So, you know, as you start to get successful and you go deeper and deeper into your journey I think what starts to become part of your process is balancing out where you want to go and the reasons you want to get there with really steeping yourself in what you've done and who you are now, you know, because it's really, in my opinion, program yourself in it. It's an inside-out process. So it's not just about acting different so that you look different. It's about thinking differently in your mind, feeling different, behaving different so that you look different. So it's a different approach. But so when you get to this point where you're 6 stone down, to me it's like again, you you've got to do some work on your new self image, thinking of yourself as this new version of you, appreciating it, steeping yourself in it, realizing you're different, noticing those differences, noticing how they happen, and really steeping in that. And again, you can still want to achieve more results, but don't keep whipping yourself. I, I— that's what I'm trying to say. Like, the person who's lost 100 pounds and still has 10 more pounds, like, they're still whipping themselves as if they still hadn't lost any weight, you know what I mean? Like, and again, because dieters get so like superstitious that if I'm nice to myself, I'll lose all my results. If I celebrate my success, they're gone. And that is really evidence that you're not set up to live at your goal weight. And most dieters feel this because most dieters Their mantra before they start losing weight is, "I just want to lose weight. I just want to lose weight. I just want to lose weight." And then once they start losing a significant amount of weight, now it starts being, "I hope I just don't. I just don't want to put it back on. I just don't want to put the weight back on. I just don't want to put the weight back on." And I think that's evidence that you're not set up to live at your goal weight. You're set up to fight against yourself for a little while to lose some weight, and they're two totally different things. And when you get those set up right, I think it goes a far way towards supporting you. And if you don't set them up right, it goes a far way towards sabotaging you. Yeah, I feel like— says thank you, thank you, you talk so much sense. You're welcome. Yes, I appreciate you saying that, and I do talk a lot of sense when it comes to weight. I come at this from such a different angle than you'll usually hear. Um, so Anne says GLP-1 scares me. Been on Weight Watchers for 14 months, lost 95 pounds. I've totally changed my thoughts and approach to food and how I eat for life. I'm not on a diet. I'm retraining myself to live, eat completely different. You've helped me tremendously. Thank you. That's so awesome. Like, that— that makes me so happy, Ann. And this is what I'm talking about, you know, 'cause I know that, you know, what the GLP wants— wants— what the GLP-1 wants you to believe more than anything in the world is that the only way you can lose weight is if you get on this medication. And you have to understand, like, my reality is totally the opposite of most people's reality because every day I'm seeing people successfully drop weight And stay there. Like, one of the things you'll notice if you get on these podcasts regularly, you'll hear people popping in like, oh, I've been on my goal weight for 2 years, I've been there for 3 years, 11 years. You know, we're talking about how long you've been there because that's what the whole focus is. So, you know, great job, man. I'm proud of you. And it feels good, not even just because you did it yourself. I'm not even talking about that piece of it. I'm talking about because you have a real solution. There's a difference. GLP-1's like a Band-Aid, you know? It's like you got shot with a gun And you got a Band-Aid to put on it. Well, it's better than nothing, so we'll put it on it. Um, but it's not the real solution. It's not a real— so the real solution is something you can stop. You can come off a GLP-1 and still maintain your weight. That's a real solution. Come on. Again, it's fine if you want to use a Band-Aid. That's fine. I'm not— it's not a judgment, but there's got to be some identification of the difference between being on a GLP-1 and managing your weight that way and, and doing it not needing any medicine at all. Um, but doing it through transforming your mindset, lifestyle, and eating— they're, they're two different things. I'm not saying which one's better or worse, but I'm saying they're two different things. And when we start to acknowledge their differences, you can make your own decision about which one you think is better. But I just want you to know that an option does exist, because they would make you think that there was absolutely zero option at this point. Every diet doesn't work. Well, we already fucking knew that, and you're the ones that ran the diets for all those years. No shit, diets don't work. But there's another way. You have to look, you have to look between the behemoths of GLP-1, diet, stomach surgery, and you got to kind of look through there. Then you can find me. And I'm over there saying, wait, there's one other way. The mindset— no one's talking about this. No one's ever talking about this. Believe it or don't, think it's a bunch of shit or don't, I don't care. But can we at least just for a second, can we talk about— we're gonna talk about weight. Okay, cool. Can we talk about mindset, lifestyle, and eating in a strategic way? Can we talk about how to run your mind? Can we just, just for a second? Can it, can it just be a possibility? And shit, this is my first fucking year teaching this. I now have a whole bunch of people that have successfully lost weight and kept it off. So it works. It's not just me who's dropped 50 pounds and living at the same weight for 30 years. It's a bunch of people. So when you end, all of this was created by studying people that had done it before even this. There's always been people that have been successful. How did they do it? Well, all we want to know is what would you eat? What exercise did you do? But I asked a different question. I said, what did you think? How did you change? You struggle with weight over here and now you got control of it. How did your eating change? Why did it change? What did you think in your mind? What motivated you? What happened? How did your behaviors change? How did you institute that? How did you stick with it? Oh, then you made a mistake. How'd you get back on track? What'd you say to yourself? How'd you deal with people trying to sabotage you? What did you do with cravings? I asked these questions for the last 30 years to every person I've ever seen successfully lose weight and keep it off. I was like a little sponge. Please tell me all your little secrets and strategies. Then I put them all together into Program Yourself Thin, add a little hypnosis so you can program your mind and make it happen quicker. But there is an alternative. And they would make you think there was none, but there is. There is. And if you want that alternative, again, click the link in my bio or go to programyourselfthen.com and go get the free hypnosis session I made for you. Because again, I not only give you the hypnosis session, I also made a whole training for you called Reprogrammed, um, where I break the entire thing down. I mean, it's 20 minutes. I even show you the redo rehearsal technique, the program yourself then, the main technique we use to program our mind. I take you through it. I keep it secrets here. Again, this is a mission for me, and it's there Um, but you take a little action. Again, if you're on TikTok, click the link in my, my bio. If you're on Facebook, all you need to do is type Mind in, M-I-N-D, and it'll send it to you. What's up, Vicki? Uh, Debbie says, I no longer have a goal weight. Been there, done that. I now have a size weight. All right. I want to lose pounds to get to a comfortable size and feel like I look the way I want to feel value to myself. All right, nice job, Debbie. Yeah, and again, I mean, like, whatever your answer is for that, it requires a little bit of thinking is what I'm saying. Because a lot of people walking around with a goal weight that really doesn't mean shit to them. A lot of people walking around with a goal weight they've been saying to themselves for 30 years. It just doesn't really mean much. It's not really moving the needle much, you know. So whatever you got to do to make your goal more meaningful, do it. That's time well spent, I would suggest. Yeah, and I'm glad Jane said this. She was replying to someone else, but I just want— I want to point this out too because here's just one more thing. I never really talk about this piece because I don't really want— like, yeah, the mechanics of the GLP-1, I talk about the big picture stuff. But, um, Jane says being on the GLP-1s helped with food noise, but I do find that even though I don't feel like eating as much or as often, I still want sweet food over good food. And that this is what I'm saying, because again, if we can get past just the weight loss piece and the weight's important, okay? So so for a lot of people, bringing the weight down is the most important thing you can do for your health, your happiness, your longevity. Okay. That being said, if we're gonna go further beyond just losing weight so you can live longer right now again, that's very important. Okay. But when we start to look at more reasons to follow a more comprehensive holistic plan, let's say, than just GLP-1, is that yeah, GLP-1 is not— GLP-1 is not going to help you change your mindset, your lifestyle. It'll change the calories you consume, but it won't change the core of your eating. So again, in Program Yourself Thin, we take the weight and wrap it in personal development. It's about becoming the best version of you possible. And in order to become the best version of you possible, you can't just cut calories. You've got to transform those calories into a higher quality calorie and lower the calorie consumption. Of course, they both—they tend to work together when they're used together. But still, to me, I think you just deserve to have a higher goal than just the weight going down. You know, and part of that goes into again: your weight can go down, but if you're eating bullshit. Your health's not as good as it could be if you're not living a lifestyle where you're getting the sleep, the hydration, the relaxation, the nourishment, the movement, the gratitude, the meditation that you deserve. You're leaving, you're leaving happiness and quality life on the table. You know, I know some people don't give a shit about that. They just want to lose weight. I get it. But that's not really a program sells for anyways. It's for people that want more. But yeah, Happy Life says, since eating food I enjoy but quality, I have no food noise. Yeah, exactly. I know, folks, food noise has been around forever. And you know what's fucking irritating is that food noise was literally created by the processed food industry. And now, I don't know, they all seem like the same thing to me. These pharmaceutical companies, these, these food companies, they all seem like the same. But it's like they gave us the food noise and now they're going to sell us a pill to take or injection to take it away. I want you to know there's natural ways to quiet the food noise down, and Happy Life just said it. When you start eating less processed food and more whole natural food, that will reduce the food noise. When you start to live a more grounded, calm life, that'll help with the food noise. So I can't—I don't have no time, Jim—to work a more calm life. Yes, you do. Yes, you do. It's not—it's not so hard. See, diets are hard. Program yourself then's easy. Feeling better is the easiest thing in the world. It really is. Weight loss takes a little bit longer. Weight loss is harder, I'll give you that. But feeling better immediately today is like the fucking easiest thing on the planet for, for 95% of people, because most people are, are kind of living and eating so shitty that the smallest improvements can, can feel so much better. This is true. But yes, happy life. I appreciate you saying that. You know, I'm tired. I say it all the time, you know, talking about the food noise. I'm glad you said that too. There are other ways to deal with food noise. It takes a little more effort, I guess, than injecting yourself, perhaps. But, um, hey, all right, thank you, Pam. Pam says food noise is less now on PYT. Yes, of course, we do it a natural way. If you don't think your relaxation level has anything to do with your food noise, then you don't know anything about food noise. So part of program yourself thin is it's, it's like it's hiding in plain sight with the program, because program yourself thin It's got a few different components to it, but one of the main components is hypnosis sessions. So every morning you get a 5-minute hypnosis session. Um, every week you get a 10-minute one to listen to at night. But the main thing is you wake up in the morning, the first 5, 10 minutes, listen to that hypnosis session. And what happens is now every morning you start off calm, grounded, and relaxed. Because a lot of people overlook the idea that with hypnosis, it's no different than meditating. Brainwave-wise. So if you think about whatever benefits you imagine if you started meditating more, you get those same benefits from listening to hypnosis sessions. So if you start starting your day calm and relaxed for 5 minutes with good ideas going into your mind, it grounds you, it calms you down, it makes you more present, relaxes you, reduce your cortisol. Everything gets— starts flowing better. And that impacts food noise, and that's just one piece. You know, then we obviously work on the lifestyle pieces: your sleep, your hydration, your relaxation, your nourishment. All of these things can quiet food noise. So again, food noise is not the you know it's not like the GLP one is the only thing that can reduce that. Makes me crazy. Um, all right, let's see here. Yeah, yeah, Debbie says shitty food equals cheaper. Yeah, well, it's true, but that's not really true either though. I know. Yeah, I don't know, the skill of— the skill of cooking's been lost in just a simple single generation. It's kind of wild when you think about it. But, um, at the end of the day though, um, shitty food is cheap. But it's not so much as cheaper as much as it is it's easier for us at this point, because I will put rice and beans up against whatever your cheap shit. Um, my kid got Doesn't matter. But, uh, the prices of stuff, um, I don't know. I don't know. I'm kind of out of the junk food and fast food world, but when I see the prices now, I don't, I don't know where's the, the deal. Where's the cheap food? And is it— I don't see it at these fast food places. It doesn't seem that cheap to me. So funny. I'll tell you what inflation hasn't affected, if you want to know: rice and beans. So it's definitely cheaper to eat healthy. I will let you know. Pamela says sleep is currently a problem. Yeah, only getting three to five hours a night. Oh yes, that's a big problem because sleep's going to affect everything. Sleep's one of those kind of fundamental things because it has an exponential impact on everything else. Your sleep does. So sleep and program yourself then. I mean, again, so Pam, right here, goal weight blueprint, boom. Oops, lifestyle. First thing is sleep. Why sleep the first thing? Because it's the most important. So how do you get to be a better sleeper? Well, you know, again, Pamela, you got— there's a whole training in the program. So what I'd suggest is go to the blueprint tab, go to lifestyle blueprint, then go down to sleep blueprint. It's a 20-minute training. Watch that. You know, I don't know what you know about sleep hygiene and just what I consider some basic stuff initially, but watch that first. There's some really good stuff in there. And understand that sleeping is a skill. A skill. I was the shittiest sleeper alive. I'm now the best sleeper alive. I'm such a good sleeper, I created a program called Sleep at Will. I can literally just fall asleep anytime I want. Okay? And it's not just me. This is a big yogi thing. Yogis could just go to sleep. Right? So, um, it's not some crazy thing. A lot of it has to do with your ability to relax your body and quiet your mind, and those are 2 skills. And as you develop those skills, your ability to fall asleep goes way up. There's other things too, but go watch those, Pamela, because if you get good at sleeping, if you get better at sleeping, you'll find that that makes everything else a lot easier, most likely. All right, yeah, Debbie said, I went to buy chopped meat, $9 a pound. Yeah, holy shit. Yeah, I don't eat meat. I mean, I eat, um, a little bit of fish here and there, but, uh, yeah, you people with the meat. And that again, why is that? Well, because meat is very, um, resource intensive. But this isn't a vegetarian show, so I'm not gonna sit here and talk about vegetarianism. But, um, what I will say is that meat's really expensive. If I ate meat like I used to, I might— if I ate meat, I used to eat meat every single day. And if I ate meat the same way I did, my grocery bill would easily be doubled, at least double or triple. For real, meat's expensive. You already know that. What's up, Christina? Christina says there's nothing more gratifying than gaining control of your life and yourself, knowing I got this. Yeah, exactly, Christina. Christina's one of those people that's had a ton of success and kind of like— I don't say halfway, but a significant way towards their goal, you know, working on kind of balancing it out, you know, still wanting to achieve more but also appreciating what they've accomplished. And, um, once you start dealing with that, you start to realize that the weight and the scale number alone isn't enough. A lot of times you need to literally work out the muscle Of appreciating yourself, of loving yourself, of acknowledging and celebrating yourself. For a lot of people, they don't really have that muscle; is not very well developed. So you gotta develop it. That's part of the process of getting to your goal weight. Happy Life says, "I fell. I feel asleep and woke up with you on a loop the other night. I was out like a light. Thank you." Yes, yes, you're welcome. And that's again as a hypnotist. Please understand that as a hypnotist, you bring people right to the edge of sleep. You keep them there ideally so you can give them suggestions. That's how it works. But I'm bringing you right to the edge of sleep. So that was another thing. I mean, I could put people to sleep. I might do— you can go to my YouTube channel. I got a bunch of sleep hypnosis where I help you fall asleep. Um, so yeah, check them out. Yeah, Deb says fall asleep. How about stay asleep? Um, yeah, well, you can't control if you stay asleep, but if you get good at falling asleep, who gives a shit? You know, and that's part of it too, because I can even— I see capital letters Debbie's written, STAY, in all capital letters. There's a lot of intensity there, and, um, we need to calm that intensity down, right? Because that's what happens to people that start struggling with their sleep, is even when they're going to sleep, they're just— they're ready to wake up and be pissed off about it. Because most of the time when we wake up, especially if this is something you've been dealing with for a while, you wake up and you're like, oh, fucking— I knew I was gonna wake up. Oh man, I'm gonna be so tired tomorrow. I'm gonna be so miserable tomorrow. It's gonna be the worst day ever. I'm gonna be so exhausted. Oh my God, I'm barely gonna make it through the day. And you do this shit at 3 in the morning at night in bed, and you're getting yourself all worked up and angry and upset. That's the exact opposite biochemistry of sleep. It's the exact opposite mindset of sleep. So we got to start to learn to relax. And one of the best things you can do is realize that I'm either going to sleep deeply all night long, or I'm going to wake up and just relax. I'm going to stay super relaxed. I'm going to rest one way or the other. I would like to sleep and get the deepest level of sleep, but even if I'm not sleeping, I'm gonna do relaxation things. That's a starting point for you to work on. But, um, I mean, I don't know. And don't tell me— I mean, like, I wake up, so I don't know, like, I don't know, it's been years now, but I all of a sudden I started waking up at like 3 in the morning. And I mean waking up like boop, like I'm up. I'm like, oh shit, I can lay there and do whatever. But again, I'm adaptable, and that's what we learn in the program. You got to be adaptable because things change over time. So how are you going to adapt to them? So all of a sudden I'm waking up, what am I going to do? Well, I started meditating. I meditate and I go back to bed and sleep great. So again, I just give that to you as an example, not that you're going to do that, but just to show you that when things happen, if you stop getting mad about them or thinking things have to be one way, if you just relax and look at things from a calm, grounded place, you, you tend to find the right way forward. Because now I, I love waking up in the middle of the night meditating. I love it. I do it every single night. And I love it, so I don't mind waking up. So anywhoos, it is a skill. Please, folks, please believe that sleeping's a skill. Um, Bookworm says, Jim, what do you eat for protein besides beans? Um, I mean, first of all, everything's got protein in it. You generate your own protein. A lot of people don't realize this, folks. Look at fucking silverback gorillas. They're eating leaves all day. Look at them. You know, I'm— I'm saying I'm a silverback gorilla, but what I am saying is that protein deficiency fears are so crazy because all of you out there, I know you're all aware of protein and you're probably concerned about your protein levels, but I also want you to reflect on the fact that in your life, unless you've had some real outlier situation where you couldn't eat, basically, you've never had a protein deficiency test. Protein deficiency tests are so rare, you probably have never even had one or know someone who's had it. So this obsession with protein deficiency is so weird to me, especially considering that the healthiest populations on planet without questions are always from cultures that have high carb, low protein diets. How about the how about about that? You know. So what do I eat? Yeah, I eat beans. I mean, I eat a little bit of fish, but. Again, there's protein in everything to some degree. Now I say this, I know people, people don't agree with me. You know, I know, I know protein maxing is a thing now. I know that maybe, maybe I'll crumble into dust when I turn 60. I don't know. Maybe I will. I'm certainly in good shape now, so I don't know when this is going to happen. I mean, I can look at any number of cultures that have existed on high-carb, low-protein diets and watch them age beautifully. Again, go look at the Blue Zones. Blue Zones, if you haven't heard of it, go check it out because they looked for what, what cultures around the world have the highest level of people getting to 100 years old. Let's pick the top 5. Okay, let's go research what they're doing. What are all 5 of them eating? You're never gonna believe it. You're never gonna believe this, but none of the 5 ate a high protein diet. Can you believe it? Not even one. Isn't that shocking? Not even one of the cultures that leads to the highest number of 100-year-olds, percentage of people getting to 100 years old. And these aren't just people getting to 100 years old, um, in bad shape. These are people getting to 100 years old, they're thinking sharp, they're moving, they're active, they're still doing stuff. Not one of them was from a high-protein diet place. So I will tell you honestly, I swear, I swear on my kids' lives, I have been a vegetarian for over 25 years. I have never tracked my protein once. Now maybe I'm taking my life in my own hands. Maybe I'm really making a huge risk here, but I feel amazing and I feel, you know, as strong as I need to feel. So Yeah, I don't. I just don't even consider it. So I wish I could give you a better answer, but it's it's literally something I really don't consider. And I love doing that now. I I love not considering my protein because for 25 years, that's the number one question I've gotten asked as vegetarian: Where do you get your protein from? And it's like now now though. I mean, now we live in the protein. It's so funny. My God, talk about— it's like, um, the whole, the whole, uh, protein thing. Watching that thing happen is so crazy because it keeps coming back. It's like, you know, it's almost Halloween, right? We get the scary movies. But if you watch Halloween, like Michael Myers, you know, you just can't kill this guy. Just keep coming back. That's what this shit's like to me. You know, it started with Dr. Atkins. Um, then it goes into, you know, keto and then paleo, and then we get to carnivore, huh? And now we're just at protein and fucking everything. Put it in everything. You're gonna have a coffee drink, fucking put protein in there. You're gonna have some yogurt, put some protein in there. Get more protein there. It's so weird. And I will tell you what's behind that. It's not nutritional information, it's money. How much money there is to sell protein. I get, I get Offers every single day to promote protein supplements, bars, bullshit on my my things. Every single day, there's so much money behind it. So when you wonder why all your fitness influencers are shoving protein bars down their face all day, they're probably making money off of it. And if they're not, they're just as susceptible to bullshit as everyone else. But there's nothing magical about this protein. You know, you eat a shit ton. You double your protein intake. What do you think? You're gonna be all muscled out. You don't think you gotta worry about muscle density if you eat lots of protein? That's not how it works, but that's what they try and sell you kind of low-key. Yeah, yes, yes, Bookworm says yes. Happy Life, fiber is what I start each meal with. Yeah, fibers— I mean, protein's important too, please understand. But again, if you consume, if you consume enough calories every day, you have nothing to worry about with protein. You will not be protein deficient. The only way you can be protein deficient Maybe if you have some weird-ass condition, so there's maybe something out there, but the only way you can be protein deficient is if you're calorically deficient. That's it. So if you're consuming enough calories, you got enough protein, and that's all you need to know. And I know that may be shocking, and maybe I'm totally wrong. Maybe I'm crumbling into dust as you watch me. I don't know, but I think fiber for most people is going to make a way bigger difference than protein. More protein. Yes, Vanessa says, I'm also vegetarian and fiber is so satiating, I love it. I think fiber is the most satiating thing there is. I know, I know, of course you hear about the satiation of protein because there's a lot of money made from selling you protein. And it's true, protein is more satiating than carbs and fat. Okay, but fiber is more satiating than that. So Babs says, how do you keep up your energy? I feel with protein I feel full and have more energy. I feel the exact opposite, you know. Now again, I have plenty of protein. Please understand, I'm not protein deficient. So please understand, I don't even give a shit or think about protein. I'm not protein deficient, and I don't, I don't believe that about the energy. Now listen, everyone's different though too, so let me just say that. Uh, program yourself in. There's no right or wrong, there's only what works for you. So if eating a bunch of— I mean, I know people that are carnivore, they swear that they love it. Now, they haven't been doing it all that long, so, you know, I tend to really only listen to people that have been doing something for at least 2 years. But whatever, they feel like all of a sudden they're energized, great. Most people that I've worked with, they, they say that they start the carnivore, the keto, whatever, protein maxing— holy shit, I got so much energy, I feel amazing. Let me know how you feel in a month or two. Let me know how you feel in six months. That's all I care about. Let me know. I don't want to talk about it now. Let's just talk about it later. So I don't know, Babs, how long you've been protein maxing perhaps, and I don't even know if you're a protein maxer. But I that's the normal pattern that all takes is that you start the protein maxing in whatever form you take, and oh my god, I feel amazing! And then you know a week goes by, a month goes by, a couple months go by, and you're like oh. You start feeling sluggish. Your body is not— you're not a carnivore, folks. It's pretty cut and dry. Your body has evolved over history to primarily, most efficiently use carbs for energy. We— there's, there's virtually no society that lived primarily on protein. Protein is a— it's a very— and I'm talking meat protein. It's a very energy-intensive Food. It's a lot easier to pick stuff. And so I, you know, I don't know. So yeah, no, I feel, I feel a shit ton of energy. Um, so I don't know. Uh, yeah, yeah. Happy Life said, makes me cross. They market high protein so people think it's healthy, but look at the sugar. Oh yeah, just a lot of protein doesn't make something healthy. And that's just what they do. I mean, they've been doing this now for, you know, I mean, shit, it's been really 50 years technically, you know, basically from the '70s on. Um, they just have marketed food so in such a dramatically compelling way. Um, yeah, yeah, Bev says all good points, thanks. You're welcome. Yeah, but I know a lot of people are scared of protein. Again, I'm not sitting here judging it. I just know, you know, if you, if you're not obsessed with this shit, if you don't read about this stuff all the time You're just conventional wisdom would be that I need more protein, you know. But then you'd probably also be thinking that if I get more protein, I'm gonna have more muscle. You're not. You're not. Just eating more protein doesn't give you more muscle. And I don't know, there's just there's a lot of money being pumped out, and doctors too. Doctors generally don't know shit about nutrition. Honestly, doctors generally don't know much more about nutrition than you do. I know that's a weird thing to understand, but they don't study nutrition and then. medical school. Being a doctor in 2026, it's not about how can you have the highest level of health and energy, so they don't study that shit. So anyways. What's up, Jody? Jody says, PYT, I've been at my goal weight now for almost 3 years. First time in my life I hit my goal weight without gaining it all back. Yeah, and Jody's awesome at this because Jody really is committed. But one of the coolest things about Jody is that Jody is such a great example of getting to your goal weight and then the real work begins in a way. I, I think Jody has done a lot of her best work at her goal weight. That's what I'm trying to say. Like, like, there's so much more than just losing weight. I know that seems like a weird thing to say, but there really is more to it than just losing weight. There's also— there's other aspects to it. Jody, you're a great example of that. Um, yeah, Debbie says, I want to move to a Blue Zone. Yeah, the Blue Zone sounds, sounds pretty nice, but you can create your own Blue Zone though. You know, and that's a great book too, by the way. I strongly recommend that book. I think it breaks a lot of, uh, just ideas we all have, you know, if you live in America. Um, yeah, I see something Jane wrote that, yeah, weight loss is so weird. I'm losing weight off my face, which I don't want, and then also my chest, but not losing my weight in the areas I would like to lose. Um, yeah, but you know, I mean, that, that speaks to something else. And, and I'm just gonna say it, we're almost done here, so I'll say the part no one probably wants to hear, but your body is your body, and your body is your body at the age it's at. Okay, and so I always say this, and program yourself, then there's always 2 phases of the goal that we're aiming at. Part of it's action, right? You got to take new action and do new things to get the results you want. That's part of it. The other part though is acceptance. And I think you've got to actually focus on acceptance as a muscle you need to develop, because in this culture we live in, it's the opposite. You have been conditioned to not be accepting at all of your body. And so a lot of times the weight starts coming off, but you don't look the way you thought you're gonna look in your mind. And this is very, very common, to the point that it's almost 100% this way. And so, you know, at some point the process of losing weight is also the process of accepting yourself for who you are. So I get it though, but that's just what it is, you know. All right, I think we're good here. Let me get off again. If you're not in my world, make sure you click the link in my bio. Um, if you're on TikTok, click the picture of me on the top left there. Go get that free hypnosis session I give you. Uh, if you're on Facebook, type Mind, M-I-N-D. Uh, into the comments and it will, uh, send it to you automatically. And go get that hypnosis session and watch the training I made for you. It's called Reprogrammed, uh, How to Get— How to Live at Your Goal Weight Without the Fight. And it's completely free. All those things are free. Um, go check them out. And, um, oh, actually, and I even give you— now everyone gets automatically— you can opt out if you don't want it, but now automatically I send you daily emails. So it's kind of a weekly program. So every Sunday there's kind of a focus to focus in on. Um, each day there's a little lesson, you know, just a little bite-sized lesson to give you. Go check it out, it's completely free. So, so again, I, um, I always say I'll give you, you all more than any, anyone else will give you for free. Um, and here I am proving it to you. So again, I, I don't know how much more I can give you here. Uh, this stuff could really, really help you, and it's all free at this point. So go, go get it. All right. Yeah, Bookworm says yes, got your email this morning. Thank you. Yes. So everyone, everyone should be getting those now. All right. If you're, if you're in my world, you can get those. And again, if you don't want them, there's a little link at the bottom, just click it. It'll take a couple days for it all to figure itself out, but it'll stop sending them to you. All right, but if you want them, what a great way to start your day with these little messages, um, that'll teach you something and give you a different perspective. Um, test it out. Okay, and, um, if you like this, I'm here every Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern. Uh, so pop on here and ask questions. Uh, one thing I am doing is, uh, gonna get some question forms out ahead of time. So if you do have questions, you don't necessarily have to be on the live. Uh, to ask them. And then if you do like the, the live but you can't make it live, it's also a podcast. You can search Program Yourself Thin on any podcast platform. Um, you can follow the Program Yourself Thin page on Facebook, and the replays are automatically put up there. Um, but you can check them out anytime you want. So, all right, everyone, have a super duper day, and we'll talk soon. Bye, everyone.
