What A Real Weight Loss Plan Looks Like

Jim Katsoulis argues that weight loss works when you change your mindset, not just follow a diet. He dismisses one-size-fits-all approaches like keto and intermittent fasting, instead pushing personalized plans built on unconscious competence through lifestyle and eating strategies.

Everyone, welcome to today's program yourself Thin Podcast. Today we're talking about what a real weight loss plan looks like. And obviously this is important. So if you think about weight loss in general and probably your own experience, when you finally decide, that's it, I'm going to do this, I'm going to lose weight and I'm going to take it seriously. What's the process now? If you're like most people, the process is something like this. Like you decide you're going to make the change and then you start following some kind of diet plan. And whether it's a specific diet plan like keto, or you join Weight Watchers or you start trying to intermittent fast or start doing Mediterranean, I'm gonna go vegan, I'm gonna go carnivore, it doesn't matter. Whichever one you pick and, or you say, you know what, I'm just going to do my own thing. I'm just going to start eating healthier, make better choices, say no to the crap, right? It's basically this idea that you have some, some idea that you're going to follow a plan, whatever that plan may be, and you're just going to do it. I'm gonna lose weight, right? And that's pretty much the extent of the plan, that you're going to do the right stuff from this point forward.
I don't know, maybe on the surface that sounds okay, but in my world that sounds terrible because it'd kind of be like if you think of college, getting a degree, getting mastery in some sort of area, if you just decided one day, you know, I'm just gonna start practicing, I'm gonna start reading about accounting, I'm gonna learn accounting, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna learn how to be a plumber. I'm gonna get plumbing books and just read how to be a plumber and work on it every day. I'm just gonna do it. You know, that's not going to work, most likely. Why? Because it doesn't have all the necessary components for you to thrive and learn that subject. Right? You with a book, you with a idea is probably not going to be enough to succeed, okay? Especially if the idea is just basically telling you what to do. Because when it comes to your weight, there's so much more than just knowing what to eat and what not to eat. I could pay for you to go to a nutritionist and have that nutritionist come up with a custom made plan just for you that if you followed, you would absolutely lose weight and you're still not going to be any better or closer to losing weight than you would be before that. Because knowing what to do is not enough.
Do you know this? Right? You know enough about what you should and shouldn't eat at this point already to lose weight. The problem is you can't get yourself to do it consistently. The core problem with your weight is that you really have no strategies. You have no ideas of how to really influence your thoughts, your feelings, and ultimately your behaviors, and a consistent way. And if we take a step back and look at what you typically do with your weight loss, again, you pick a plan and you just say, I'm going to do it. And you do it for a little while and then you make a mistake or you get bored of it and you just stop doing it and you go back to what you always did. And most likely it's been decades that you've been doing that same process, right? You're living your normal life. You get upset about your weight. You said, I'm going to do it. You jump into a plan, do it for a little bit, and then stop doing it. Go back to what you always did and repeat over and over and over again. So one of the key things you need to understand that when it comes to weight loss and the plan you're going to use to actually lose weight, it needs to be more than just an eating plan or philosophy. It needs to be more than just stop eating carbs, just stop eating for 16 hours. Just track your points, right? It needs to be more than that, because again, knowing what to do is really just the first step. The real secret is having the ability to get yourself to do it consistently. And that is something that pretty much no weight loss plan out there really gives you in an effective way. They basically say, here, do this, and then you're on your own to just try and get yourself to do it. And again, that's not a great approach because again, what happens is you do it for a little while and then quit because you don't really know how to fundamentally change how you think, feel, and behave into that of a thin, healthy person who naturally follows those eating ideas that you want to do. And until you have some piece of your weight loss plan that helps you shift your mindset, you're basically going to keep repeating the exact same things you've always repeated. Now, your brain will forget the past. Ironically, your brain's a funny thing, but your brain will forget all those previous experiences trying to lose weight, forcing yourself to do it, and then quitting and it'll make you feel like, well, next Monday is going to be totally different. It's up to you to remind yourself, no, it's not going to be different if you don't do something different. If you jump into a plan the same way that you've jumped into the plan 10 other times when you failed, I can almost guarantee you this 11th time, you're going to fail, too. Even though you want to be optimistic and positive and think you're going to do it. So there's a difference between kind of optimism and delusion. So it's important that you recognize that there's no amount of willpower. There's no amount of I'm going to do it and excitement and motivation in the beginning that's really going to get you past your mindset. You have got to transform your mindset into that of a thin, healthy person. You need to learn how to think differently, feel different, and live and behave differently. And you need that to feel natural and automatic for you. That's one of the key things. So, again, when it comes to learning, what we're looking to do is create a state of unconscious competence, which means you, you can just do it on autopilot. So again, reading, writing, riding a bike, using a computer mouse, driving a car. These are all things you learned. At one point, you broke it down into pieces, focused and worked on each piece, learned it, practiced it, and eventually you got to the point where you can do those things on autopilot. Now, so much so that you couldn't even explain to me how you write. You can't even explain to me how you use a computer mouse or walk across the room. You can just do it. And that's called unconscious competence. But because your mindset shifted, you had the mindset of someone who didn't know how to use a computer mouse, and now you have the mindset of someone who knows how to use a computer mouse. And what that means is that now you can use a computer mouse on autopilot. So when you approach your weight loss, if you just think for the rest of your life, you're going to have to fight against yourself and force yourself to do the right thing. You're already on the wrong path. What you want to do is you want to get to a place where you naturally and automatically make the decisions that get you the weight you want and. And create the results you're looking for. This is the secret, and this is what's missing from virtually every single diet out there is again, that they're just Telling you what to do and never showing you how to get yourself to do it to the point that you probably don't even think about the things I'm saying here. You don't think about your mindset. You don't think about your habitual thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, because you think and have been trained through dieting to just focus on the willpower aspect. Aspect of it, of fighting against yourself, against. Fighting against your mindset. But you can't go through your life fighting against yourself. It's just not an effective strategy. You need to transform yourself. And once you transform yourself, you know, now you're starting on the path of sustainability, you know, because again, we're looking to get to that unconscious competence piece where it's just automatic. And if you approach your weight loss with this approach in mind right from the beginning, this becomes a fundamental piece of it. So that we're not just looking to control the eating, we're looking to also shift our mindset, shift your lifestyle, and then again, ultimately shift your reading. So if you start to look at what the ultimate weight loss plan is going to be, it's going to have a huge mindset component, because of course, your mindset is controlling everything you're doing, including your reading, including your weight. And so as you start to get deeper into the mindset piece, I think you're going to be surprised that weight loss can be much easier than you ever imagined. And I really mean that. I'm not saying this lightly, I'm not saying it's easy, but I'm saying it's way easier than you ever imagined, because you have always subconsciously approached your weight loss as a process of fighting against yourself, as opposed to a process of transforming yourself. And when you start to think about transforming yourself from the inside out into the person you want to be, starting with your mindset, it's a different path. And it quickly dawns on you that this path is way better because again, the. The effort and energy you put in it lasts longer. Willpower kind of just works in the moment, and you need to always draw upon it where when you start to shift your mindset, it starts to work consistently behind the scenes. So you don't need to be as present, you don't need to be as vigilant as you are dieting. You just start to naturally and automatically make better choices and decisions. And that's what real transformation and change looks like. And that's what the ultimate weight loss plan looks like as well. It's got a strong mindset component because Weight loss without mindset is dieting. And dieting absolutely does not work. It does not work. You know, 95% of dieters that lose weight put the weight back on. So dieting absolutely does not work. And you need to approach it differently if you're going to get different results. So I hope this helps you out. If you want to go deeper into this process, click the link in my bio or go to program yourself. Then.com, go get the free hypnosis session I give you. Watch the training I made for you, read the emails I send you. They're all going to help you. They're all free and they will help you kind of get on a better path. If you do have any questions, feel free to ask them. I am here to help you with any questions you may have. Doesn't matter what your questions may be, they can be about food, dieting, calories, working out, even, even. I am not a workout expert for sure. I am a weight expert and.
That'S what I get on here to help people with. So, yes, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask them. I hope you're all having a nice Thursday. We're on Thursday this week, a short week, right? So yeah, yeah, we're Monday off. I find myself, I find myself tired this week. I would say this is in program yourself. Then we have what's called re entry weeks. And reentry weeks are really useful the week after a vacation, holiday, you know, health issues, whatever, good, good or bad, kind of outlier weeks. The reentry is a concept that, you know, when you get off track and it might be vacation, holiday, you're sick, whatever. It's the idea of getting back on track. Right. And so again, most dieters think, well, okay, I was off track, now Monday, here comes, I'm 100% back on. So program yourself then. There's a lot more gradient, right. We live in the all or something world as opposed to the all or nothing world. And so the re entry week is really that concept of something. So I don't need to be perfect, you know, I'm not eating as cleanly as I did a few weeks ago, but it's trending in that direction. I'm getting my, my fundamental pieces of my eating are getting locked back in and next week I'll be in a better position to lock it in even more, you know, so. But I do find for myself, so I don't know if you're in that position. I definitely find myself tired this week and I've been Honoring that, though, I got to go to bed earlier. You know, I'm easier on myself, taking it easy, lower my expectations a little bit. You know, even last night I was so tired. I did play basketball for a while. That was really fun. But then I come in and usually I want to play guitar for a while, and I'm just like, I'm tired. I'm just going to relax. I'm just, I'm not worrying about that. So, so again, I say that to you that, you know, I'm a big believer that so much of your weight loss success is going to come down to your ability to, to manage your energy. And so much of managing your energy is recognizing kind of where you're at and making the right adjustments. You know, not, not just, always with the pedal of the metal and going 100 miles an hour, but having the ability to recognize the situation and pull back as well. I think being able to pull back so you can recover and then move forward, I just think that's so crucial. And I think, you know, our culture here in America does not support that idea. And certainly dieting does not support that idea. Because with dieting, you're just always pushing 100 miles an hour in one direction. And the idea of, like, easing off a little bit is terrifying to most dieters. So anyways, I do just let you know that there is, you do have alternatives and options, you know, more than you may think. So Yanis, Yanis Honey says, do you recommend intermittent fasting?
Do I recommend intermittent fasting? I.
I, I, I'm having, I struggle to answer because I don't like to just answer things. Just, let's just straight up, I don't have, like, these black and white rules, right? So for one person, intermittent fasting may be great. For another person, intermittent fasting may be terrible. Okay, so that kind of frames what I'm about to say here, that I, you know, program yourself. Then the golden rule is there's no right or wrong. There's only what works for you. So that's my first, you know, kind of shot at that question, is that I think with dieting, we're always conditioned to think, like, it's a one size fits, right? Everybody's got to stop eating carbs. Everyone's got to intermittent fast. Everyone's got to count their points. And diets really sell themselves as, like, this is the only way. That's bullshit. You know, you can lose weight a million different ways. I think the secret is to figure out which way works for you. And if you start you know, go test out intermittent fasting. Go check it out, see how you feel. Some people love it, some people hate it. So I don't know how you would respond to it. So that would obviously impact the answer I would give you. Okay, I will tell you some general things and again, understand you may or may not agree with these. That's fine. Okay. But what I tend to see more often with intermittent fasting, and I like the concept of intermittent fasting a lot. I personally have been intermittent fasting for over 30 years before intermittent fasting was even a thing. I called it something else. I call it nighttime fasting. And it's a little different. So when I started my journey, one of the first things I focused on was my nighttime snacking. And I started weaning that back. And so what happened is I started having a bigger and bigger window between when I stopped eating when I went to bed. And that was absolutely transformative for me because I used to eat pretty much right up until I was going to go to bed, and I was always a crappy sleeper. And so when I started giving myself a bigger window and I stopped eating earlier, I found that my sleep dramatically improved. Okay, so at this point, I've been doing this for 30 years. I probably stopped eating six, seven o' clock on average. And I'll start eating the next day, seven or eight o'. Clock. So most days I'm not eating for 12 to 14 hours, let's say, okay, now I came upon that organically and I started, you know, okay, eight hours when I'm sleeping, right. Or whatever, nine hours and 10 hours, 11 hours, 12 hours. So it kind of gradually developed, right? And so my big issue with intermittent fasting is it's taught in America, right? Because all of a sudden it's a diet and a diet. All diets are the same. Understand that? All diets are the same. Now, they all got their own kind of philosophies, but they're all the same in the sense that you're going to approach that diet exactly the same way. So whether it's intermittent fasting, keto, Weight Watchers counting point, it doesn't matter, whatever thing you're going to do. What makes them all the same is your diet mindset. You're going to jump into that plan 100% on day one, right? You're going to start on a Monday, you're going to be perfect with it, and your goal is to be perfect with it as long as you can. That's my big issue with intermittent fasting. So it's not. Not so much. I think giving your. Your body a break from eating every day is one of the most greatest things you can do on the planet for yourself. My issue with intermittent fasting, as it's typically taught, is, well, it's got to be 16 hours. All the magic happens those last two hours. I know it's hard, but come on, that's where all the magic. That's bullshit in my opinion. And I find one of the worst parts about intermittent fasting is for people is that those last two, three hours are really stressful, and they're starting to get hungrier and hungrier and hungry and hunger. And then all of a sudden, the eating window opens up and now they're binging. So I find for a lot of people, intermittent fasting, the way it's taught as a diet, is a real great way to give yourself, you know, practice being a binge eater. Maybe that's not your experience. Great, but there's a lot of people that do have that experience. And I feel that if they had some flexibility in it, but that maybe going 12, 13 hours would feel really comfortable for them and would be great for them and then build around that. But again, with dieting and intermittent fasting, in that situation, people go into it, I got to do 16 hours. I got to do 16 hours. You know, nothing magical happens those last two hours. Especially if, if you make it the last two hours, then you binge for the next, you know, eight hours. You know what I mean? Nothing good happened. So again, this. This gets to the heart of dieting that is so rigid. You know what I mean? Like, dieting is so rigid, and it's like giving you like, like the 10 comm. It's down from the mountain. You've got to do it this way. You've got to do 16 hours. If you're not doing 16 hours, it's not even worth it, you know what I mean? And you start to develop these real strict, rigid ideas, which is just the. The killer, you know, it's the killer because we're human beings. We need to have flexibility, right? What if all of a sudden, tomorrow's I don't fasting? So again, the rigidity of intermittent fasting, as most people follow it, to me is. Is a huge red flag and a huge issue. The idea of giving your body a break during a period of time to not eat, I think is wonderful. So I'm going to kind of answer that right in the middle, and then you obviously figure out what works for you. If you go 16 hours and it's just easy breezy, you love it, then do it. You know what I mean? But if you're struggling with it and you're really, every day, you're dreading those last four hours, then don't do it. You don't have to do it. Eat a fucking apple, have breakfast, you'll be fine. I mean, the secret, in my opinion, the most important thing is that you build your weight loss on a foundation of calm. So if intermittent fasting for you is really stressful, well, that didn't come. You know what I mean? And so to me it's like, that's my main thing is I want to be relaxed, calm, grounded. Because when I'm relaxed, calm, grounded, I make way better decisions. My hunger isn't as high, my cravings aren't as unhealthy. So everything's easier when I'm calm. So I, that's my main criteria when I'm choosing what I'm going to do. And so if I look at a plan and it's like keto, right? Tell me you don't feel stressed and anxious the night before your keto plan. Tell me you don't feel anxious the, the second night into your keto plan. Of course you do. It's overwhelming, it's stressful. And so that stress just erodes your ability to really make better new decisions, in my opinion. So that's kind of my long winded answer to that question. So I hope that helps out. You know, I do have a lot of thoughts on that, but they all the same. I mean, honestly, you could ask me about any diet, it's kind of virtually the same answer. I think all diets have something to offer. I, I, you know what I mean? Like, I think that there's some valuable insights pretty much all diets will, will have. I think keto is one of the dumbest diets around. However, I do get that, I think people, we obviously the number one source of calories for American adults is baked goods. So you know, when you take a keto plan and you say, well, you know, refined carbs are the problem. Yeah, refined carbs are a problem for most people. Carbs aren't the problem.
You know, like, like, I mean, it's just a whole world of evidence that when you look at the healthiest countries that have ever existed, they're all high carb diets. Carbs are not unhealthy. You know, overeating refined carbs all the time is, you know, that's going to be an Issue. But, you know.
Keto just does what everyone does. They simplify everything. And I think keto's goofy anyways. But. But, but it has some. An offer. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Baked goods, refined carbs. That's an issue for most people. Got to deal with it. Do we need that ridiculous response that we're just going to completely cut all carbs out? I think that's silly, but, you know, but they're, you know, at the core of it. Yeah, there's a real. A real issue for most people there, too. Julie says thanks for all you do. Thank you, Julie. You're welcome. Yes. I love doing this stuff. You know, I will tell you, I'm a little tired this week. Like, it's funny, like, last week I was just raring. I was, like, roaring all my engines going. And this week here, I really hit a wall for a couple reasons.
And it's. It's a little frustrating because. But it is just what it is. You know what I mean? Like, I just. I'm okay with it. I accept it. I'm doing what I got to do this week, but I am looking forward to next week, like, really just hitting the ground. Like. Like, I'm so excited. If you haven't known, I'll show you this, because this is. This is so exciting to me.
The goal weight blueprint. So this comes with the program now. Well, wait, wait, wait. I want to be clear. It doesn't yet because the price is going up, but if you ordered, if you had to program yourself then today and ordered for that price, you get this sent to you. But if you get that discounted price, it's still kind of floating around. This has not come yet. Okay. But you still have the option to buy it. But, yeah, look at this thing. Right? So this is the coolest thing I've ever created. Look at this thing.
So this is what my clients go through, and this is your. Your blueprints. And I didn't mention this on the. I was talking about what a. What a real weight loss plan looks like, and I completely forgot to talk about all the things I want to talk about. Oh, well. So anyways, I believe that for you to master your weight, you really need to deal with three areas. Mindset, Lifestyle, eating. And that's what this does. You know, it kind of takes you through these three categories in detail. You know, breaks it down. We have six categories in mindset, eight categories in lifestyle, three categories in eating, and we deep dive into them, and you answer those questions. So you create your own blueprint. You create your own roadmap for how to get to your goal weight and how to live there, but it's built around you. And that kind of gets back to my original point that I think most diets, they really got nothing to do with you. Right. It's the other way around. You with your diets, metaphorically, it's like you're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You know what I mean? That's what most dieters spend their time doing, trying to force themselves to do something that really does not resonate with them at all. And you wonder why you can't stick with it. And of course, you blame yourself for it, but I blame the diet, you know, and so to me, the real solution to mastering your weight is to, again, have to do this. Exactly. Although I don't know anything else that. That's like this. You know what I mean? But the idea to me is that you go through in detail, you know, how to shift your mindset, your lifestyle and your reading, and everything changes, you know? So this is. This has been cool. I just got this yesterday and it is. It's beautiful. So anyways, this is for my clients, but I do, like I was saying yesterday, I got a book coming.
I think within the month. I think I'm gonna have it within the month. I think I'm gonna have it finished next week because I'm about 80, 85% done.
So, yeah, Warco says, I think for some people it works, but me, it is just made me things much worse. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Again, Warko's talking about the intermittent fasting. And that's how it is with everything, you know, that's how it is with program yourself then. You know what I mean? I'm not saying programming. There's no plan that could be for everyone. How could that be? You know what I mean? It's just impossible. And I want you to know in his Instagram, if you're over on Instagram and you're asking questions, it was acting weird. So if you have any questions on Instagram, feel free to write them. If for some reason I don't see them. No, I'm not ignoring you. I just. It's acting weird. It's not. It's not showing up all the people that usually on there like that. It normally is. But anyways. Yeah, I agreed, Warco, that, that. But. But here's the thing. So let's just say you try intermittent fasting, right? And it just doesn't resonate with you. That doesn't make you a bad person, it doesn't make you a failure, it doesn't make you weak willed, it doesn't make you a person who has no self control. It's just not a plan that works for you. I'm, I'm a master of my weight. I've lost over £50 30 years ago and maintained it. Okay, so I feel like I'm a master of my weight, but I, a lot of plans wouldn't work for me and if I approach them and say, oh, I have to do this, I have to do it this way, I'd be setting myself up for failure. The second you stop thinking there's some magical plan out there that's just perfect for you and the more you start to realize I need to create a one size fits one plan that works for me, the sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be because then you can just do the real work of figuring out what works for you. And once you figure out what works for you though, then you're on easy street. It's so much easier. I sit here in front of you like I've got strategies for managing my weight that are custom made for me, you know, and so guess what? It's way easier to stick with those strategies. It's way easier to keep acting that way because I designed them specifically for me.
Does that make sense, right, if I'm sitting here trying to do something I hate? Because listen, by the way, even with the strategies I love, like, I love how I eat, I love how I live, I love all this stuff. That being said, I still have ups and downs. I still, I still, I'm on track really good sometimes and sometimes a little bit off track. That's always the way it's going to be. You're never just going to be on track 100 of Time Forever. So we have to like expect. Well, when I get off track, if I hate the thing I'm doing to get back on track, it's going to be a lot harder to get back on track. I love what I'm doing and I still get off track sometimes. But because I love what I'm doing, it's a lot easier for me to get back on track. Hope that makes sense. So, yeah, if you start looking at it that way, I don't know, it's, to me, it's a much different way to approach your weight than people typically do because most people think they need to be told what to do by a diet. And I think if you start considering yourself and Reflecting on what you like to do, what works for you, what you would enjoy more than others.
That's the better, right? Scarlet says congrats on your book. Thank you. Thank you. Yes. This is so exciting. Like, I don't know if you can tell. Like, this is nice stuff, right? It's like. And I didn't even know it was gonna have this little plastic sheet protecting it, which is even cooler. But, yeah, it's so nice. Feels good. I. I'd gotten these workbooks made before, but this thing is just next level. So you've got the spiral binding, you know, And I. I did that because, like I said, I don't know. I guess I'll ask some people because it'd be so much easier if I just, like, sold this through Amazon. They just take care of the shipping and everything, but. But then it wouldn't be spiral bound. It would be what they call perfect bound. And then it can't go really flat. Maybe it doesn't even matter. I don't know. Does it matter? Do people care? Do people care if it's spiral or perfect bound? I don't know. This thing's awesome. One cool thing about this, right, is you go through it and.
It. It gives you kind of the basics. Again, this kind of gives you the basics of the blueprint, so you can fill it all out. That was my goal. But, you know, you can go deeper. There's trainings for each piece of the blueprint. There's, like, a training I do for it, so if you want to go in depth with it. But one of the cool things about this one, I think it's neat, is Sarah, right? So Sarah is kind of a combination of all my clients I've ever had. And she kind of explains these different parts of the blueprints from her perspective. But I think it's really cool because it's. It gives it like a. It just makes it more understandable, I think, because it puts the ideas in context. So it is cool. I was saying I. I worked on this I've been working on for 20 years, as someone said to me today. But I really focus on it for, like, last six months, and it's. It's cool. Even. We talk about the Weight Mastery Pyramid.
This is the Weight Mastery Pyramid, by the way, right? So you see it mindset, lifestyle, eating, and then we break them down. So with mindset, you got motivation, self, image, habits. I don't know if I'm pointing at the right stuff.
There we go. Motivation, self image, habits, emotions, thinking, and maintenance, right? So that's the mindset piece. And I say that to you because even if you're like, oh yeah, I got to work on my mindset, figuring out how to work on your mindset is a challenge because very few people, I don't know anyone, to be honest, I made this up myself. You know, I had to. You got Carol Dweck, who's the queen of mindset, and I love her fixed growth mindset stuff. But to be honest, I don't, I don't feel like it's enough. You know, I think again, for me, I got six categories in a mindset piece. And I think once you break it down, you understand how to motivate yourself, how to shift your identity, how to deal with your habits strategically, how to manage your emotions without food, how to think like a thin, healthy person, how to maintain in times of stress and struggle. To me it's like when you break those down and you have the answers to those, it's, you know, it's next level. So anyways, I think it's. The main point I'm saying is that.
If you've struggled with your weight, the primary reason you've struggled is not because you're a bad person or you're lazy or you're weak willed or whatever. It's almost always because you've never learned how to manage your mind. You've never learned how to manage your mindset. You don't know how to motivate yourself. You don't know how to shift your self image and identity. You have no idea how to strategically deal with your habits. You don't know how to manage your emotions without food. You don't know how to think like a thin healthy person and you have no idea how to maintain. I mean, not to be a jerk, but I mean, let's be honest. I mean, do you know those things? Do you? Again, it's not, I don't feel shame that you don't know those things, but it would be helpful to recognize that you don't know those things. And that's probably one of the main reasons why you're struggling with the weight. It's not because you're just a lazy person, you know. So what's up, Lori? Laurie says yes, I like spiral bound for writing and I'll be order. Yeah, I like the spiral bound too. I think it's cool. And I will have. Like I said, I'm gonna do this. I say I'm gonna do it today. I think I will do this today. I'm kind of Backed up. I've had a really busy week and so I'm a little bit behind on stuff. But so, so I. In the Circle app I will put this and I'll send an email out too. So if you want to, if you're in the program and order one, go ahead. And someone said how to get the book, this book, right. This particular book is only for my clients. So it's part of the program. It wouldn't, I don't know, I was thinking about that yesterday. I'm like, would this just be good for anyone? Just like say they had no idea the program. It would, but it's just like I was saying yesterday like, like it's just Program yourself then has a couple different components and the main three are this, the Goal Weight Blueprint, the Program Yourself Thin technique, which is a 60 second self Hypnosis exercise used to program your mind and then the support system. And the primary part of the support system or one of them is the Goal Weight hypnosis system. It's an eight week hypnosis system where you get a five minute hypnosis session every morning. There's a ten minute session you listen to at night. It kind of bookends your day, it calms you down, relaxes you and puts all sorts of good stuff in your mind to some degree. It kind of installs a thin healthy mindset. So I sell that as a complete program. And last year I sold the hypnosis by itself and I got a lot of good feedback on it, but I just know it's not enough to really maintain it. I know it'll help you lose weight, but I do not believe it's enough to really help you master your weight. So I stopped selling it by itself. And I kind of be honest, I think it's the same thing with this. I know for a fact if I sold just this, it would be extremely helpful, but it's just, it's not enough. Because in my world you need to know what to do and you need to know how to get yourself to do it. And so this is knowing what to do. But if you don't know how to get yourself to do it, you're just going to fill this out and you're just going to try and force yourself to do these things. And so I believe that you need to know what to do, but then you need to program yourself to do it. And I just feel like it's fundamental. And so I kind of step away from just selling pieces of the program. But what I am doing What I am going to be doing, like I said within this will absolutely be available in the next month, is that I'm going to have a book, and I got two books coming out. But the first book is. It's kind of a light version. It's hypnotic stories, basically, that go through the whole program. Okay. Because the main program here, I'll show you this. And although this is a little bit of a printing error, the main program, you can see kind of the contents here. We break it down to those three categories. So where it says choosing your goal weight should say mindset. Okay? And then there's those six categories, and then there's lifestyle, and there's the eight habits, and then there's the eating blueprint, and there's those three sections. And so what this first book is going to do is it's going to talk about all those things in a hypnotic way. So it's very light, easy, breezy reading, but as you read it, it's hypnotic stories that change your subconscious as you read it and install these concepts in a very light, general way into your mind. Now, the second book that's coming out is going to deep dive into all of these categories so that you can kind of learn those. And those books will be available to everyone. Okay. Because I know those books alone are going to be extremely helpful and they're going to be complete within themselves in their own way. So those books will be available. So again, make sure you're on my email list. You know, make sure you click the link in my bio or go to program yourself then. And go sign up for that hypnosis session. Because once you do it on my email list, and I'll let you know about the books. But yes, those will be coming out and those will be available to everyone. I'll be selling those through Amazon, so. And I'll be, I don't know how cheap you can make books on Amazon, but selling those through Amazon, so. And I'll be, I don't know how cheap you can make books on Amazon, but I will make those books as cheap as I possibly can. Okay? They. I just want to get them out there.
But the. The blueprint really is part of the program. And again, I do think it'd be helpful, but it wouldn't really. I don't want to just help people lose weight. I want to help you live at your goal weight for the rest of your life on your autopilot. I want you to master your weight. And I always say that to people in the program that it's really for a certain type of person who's kind of an overthinking, a perfectionist, someone who takes a lot of action. You listen to podcasts all the time. You're doing a lot of things, but unfortunately just listen to the wrong things. And so those are the people that I really love working with and get the best results in the program. Because, yeah, the program, I make no bones about it. Program yourself. Then the commitment. I mean, geez, you know, look at this thing, you know, I mean, like you're gonna go through is 144 pages here. You know what I mean? So it's like you're gonna fill this out and, you know, it takes some focus and commitment. It takes some effort. You know, I want you to listen to the training. So I know that's not for everyone, and that's fine. But, you know, for the, for the right person, it's. It's magical. You know what I mean? It's a real.
Transformative process, a real paradigm shift, you know? But, yeah, but if you have any questions. I don't talk about the book all the time, but, but it's like. So, I mean, I'm excited about it, though. But if, if you got any questions about weight, feel free to ask them. I know people always ask me again, oh, what about intermittent fasting? What about keto? What about this? What about that? And again, my answer is always the same to those types of questions that if, you know, if it, if it feels comfortable relatively now, again, anything new you do is not going to feel comfortable. Right? Because it's going to take extra effort and energy to kind of think about it, do it, get yourself to do it, all the rest of it. But you really do want to measure that to me, you know, as an extreme. If you do the most extreme thing, which would probably be just like a dry fast, let's say. Right. Let's just say you just. That's it. Nothing's going in here. I'm serious. I want to lose weight. I'm not putting nothing in my mouth. Right? And so it's like, in that sense, that's like the hardest thing you can do, but simultaneously it's also the shortest lasting thing you can do. Right. At the most, you're going to make it 30 days, and then what's going to happen? Yeah, you probably lost a lot of weight, but now you got to eat. So what's the point? What is the point of, of investing time, energy into something that's only going to help short term? I don't understand that at all. So, you know, to me, it's like when you. Whatever weight loss plan you choose to follow, make sure you pay attention to how do I feel on this thing. Right? Because if you absolutely hate it, what's the point? I don't know what the point is. What, did you lose weight for a week or two? You know what I mean? So if you start choosing your weight loss plan not just by how much weight you lose quickly, but how relatively comfortable it is for you. That's the secret. Because when it's relatively comfortable, you can build on it, you can get good at it, you can normalize it. You can gain that unconscious competence I was talking about, you know, but before that, it's always going to be a struggle. So, anyways, just something to keep in mind. Cece says, are you Greek? Yes, I am Greek. Half Greek. Say, I always focus on the Greek parks. My name's Catsulas, but the other half of me. And what is that? English, Irish, all that stuff. English mostly. I guess I don't feel English. I don't look English. I guess I look. I look more Greek, I would say. Get that. More. More Greek skin than. Than English skin.
Anyways, all right, no more questions. Okay, we're done. We'll wrap it up. Fans, got a question, feel free to ask it. I apologize to Instagram. I think the questions are acting weird over there.
So if you did ask a question, I apologize if I. I didn't see it, you know, So I am here every day. So remember, I'm here Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern. Between noon and 12:30 Eastern. I pretty much pop on here. I'm happy to help you out. Any questions you may have, you know, feel free to get on here and ask them. If you're not in my world yet, go click the link in my bio or go to program yourself. Then go get the free hypnosis session I got ready for you. Watch the training I made for you. And.
Yeah, go check out all that stuff. Right. What's up, Buzzo? Yeah, Cece says, nice to know I'm Turkish, but I live in the Netherlands. Thank you for your motivation and tips. Yeah, you're welcome. You're welcome. Thanks for watching Queen Victoria. So thanks for all you do, Jim. I've been in the program for a while. Great job, Queen. Yeah. Did you see this? And. And even again, if you're in the program, I want to make it clear this is in the the Circle app. Now. Did I put it in the membership area? I got to change that, I gotta update that. Let me write myself a little note so that I don't forget. Update membership area. Because.
But in the Circle app, this is in there.
Art book.
Okay, I'll forget that now. So, yeah, this is available in the membership area. It's not. It's obviously not the physical version, but the digital version. The PDFs up there and the PDF version is fillable. So you can just download it and just fill it up right in there. It's pretty cool. So that's there, that's ready to go. And so feel free to grab it again if you're in the program. You don't need to get this right. This will be available if you want one. I'm going to send an email out and a thing. I'll send this out today or tomorrow and you can get one of these. But if. If you don't want this, you don't pay for it. You can just use the PDF digitally and. Or you can download the PDF and just get it printed at Staples or something. I keep meaning to look that up. I don't know how much it would be. Now let's see. I don't know if this is a quick answer. Let's just see if staples. Because I mean, keep meaning to do it. So why not do it now? Staples printing.
See, same day printing. All right, that's pretty good. Ready to create something?
Let's try document printing.
Simple print.
From 24 cents a page. All right. What's that mean? My brain's breaking. It's a quarter. A quarter of 144.
Yeah, I told you I'm tired. My brain's not working. 100.
Oh, yikes. That can't be right.
Is that really right? I don't know. Maybe I'm looking up something wrong. That can't be right. Maybe it is. Holy crazy world. Right? Well, anyways, I guess at that point just be better. Either just use the digital PDF version or just get one from me because this is 40 bucks shipped and everything, you know, for. If you're a client right now. And this is way better than what Staples will probably do. Maybe. Anyways, so yeah, that's there if you're all interested in that and you're in the program.
Because it's cool. It's cool to have it. Uzo says, I feel like I'm doing everything right, but still am not losing weight.
Well, I mean, the first question is, is the time frame right? How long have you been doing everything right? How long have you not been losing weight? Have you lost any weight up till now? You know what I mean? How long you been doing this? So there needs to be more context. You need to have more context. I think people really do themselves a disservice by explaining their situation. Real simpleton. I don't mean simpleton. Real simplistic terms. Okay, so they do like, oh, I'm doing everything right. I'm not losing weight. I, again, it was. I'm not picking on you here, but I bet you're not. I, I bet you're either not doing everything right or you kind of are losing weight and just haven't lost weight this week or something. It's been a whole month. Okay, great. So a whole month you've been doing everything right. You're not losing weight. If I'm not mistaken, you have been losing weight, right? So it's like, give me the big picture. I've been eating so clean. Give me the big picture of like, how long you've been working on your weight, how long you've been eating better, how much weight you've lost. Until this last month. That, that's very important context. And this might be helpful to you all because I see this all the time. I mean, I think that's the biggest, ah. I say that's probably the biggest challenge in life. Anything you're doing is giving up too soon. I always like to say that weight loss is extremely unpredictable and uncertain in the short term and very predictable and certain in the long term. And so I find a lot of people will, they'll be really clean and a whole month goes by and they lose any weight and they just, they're at their wits end, they're ready to quit. You know, he's like, oh, what the hell, it's been a month. But the reality is, so what? You know what I mean? Because how long you plan on eating clean, by the way, I swear it's your body's way of protecting you almost. Because if eating clean is like such a challenge for and you're only doing it to lose weight, then who gives a anyways? Because at some point you're gonna stop losing weight. You get to your goal weight, you know.
Uzo says, I've only lost about eight pounds from my 40 pound goal. And how much, how long has it taken you to lose eight pounds?
But again, I can hear it, Uzo, I can hear it in your, your little text there. I can literally hear it. But this diet should have been making me lose so fast. I'm confused now.
I'm not confused. I see this a lot. Okay, so I'll give you an example. And I'm going into woo woo land a little bit because I have not found real good scientific explanations what for why a person can eat really clean over a month and not lose any weight over a month. I don't. I know it's true. Because you can go look up metabolic lab studies, there's tons of them. And then you want. They put a group of people in a metabolic lab where they're tracking literally every calorie and gallery out. They're all the same, and people lose wildly different amounts of weight over the time they're in there. That, that's, that's every. Every study shows that there's never been a metabolic lab study where everyone loses the same amount of weight. So that's the first thing you have to understand. But know weight loss is inconsistent, unpredictable, and different bodies are in different situations. They just respond totally different. And one of the worst things you can do is set your expectations of weight loss. Because what are you basing them on?
You know, as soon as you say, should I should have been making me lose it so fast. Why? Why do you think that? Why? Because your friend did and you said, no, Jim, it was gonna be some reality. It just ain't true. Believe me, I've done. With 6, 000 private weight loss sessions, people lose weight wildly differently in the short term. Now in the long term, it all comes out right. If you stick. So, Uzo, if you stuck with your clean eating plan for the next year, I can guarantee you will lose more weight. Yeah, it's taking about four months. Okay, so. Okay. So, Uzo, you're one of those people. I'm sorry to tell you, I. I wish it wasn't this way. I wish. I have to tell you this, Uzo. It's taken us of four months to lose eight pounds. That's relatively slow weight loss. Okay. And especially when you live in a world that's always talking about £2 a week, you're losing £2amonth. Yeah. Honestly. Yeah. My friend's also losing weight and she's managed to lose almost twice as much. Yeah, I get it. Not fair. It's not fair. Let me be the first to mention that. But you know, I already know. I'm going to say life's not fair. It's just not. You know what I mean? Like. Like it's just not. Go start a business and your friend starts a business and maybe, you know, they start making a lot more money than you do. Who Gives a go, take a class, and maybe they get the information faster than you do and you have to study twice as hard. I, I wish it wasn't that way, you know, I mean, like, I wish everything was easy and the same for everyone, but it's not. And so now you have to make the choice, oh, I'm, I lose weight slowly, so am I going to accept that and move forward or not? Because a year from now, Uzo, it's not going to matter, you know, I mean, a year from now, you know, if you stick with it, at the rate you're going, you're going to be 24 pounds lighter. Added to the eight pounds, you're 32 pounds down and you need another four months to get to your goal and then stay there.
So, you know what I mean? Like again, time's a funny thing and time messes with more dieters minds than anything else. So I know this is probably upsetting for you to hear us, but let's just be honest, right, that you lose weight slowly and people around you lose weight quicker.
So what are you gonna do? I mean, again, I'm, I want to be supportive in the sense, but, but this is just the reality of the situation. So what can we do? Well, you can either quit or you can keep going. Those are your options and it's the same options for all of you.
But I can tell you one thing. A year from now, you're gonna wish that you kept going.
How long did it take you to lose weight? Who gives a. You know what I mean? Like, who cares? I really want you to think about this for a second because we never get to have this conversation enough in life, in my opinion. You know what I mean? We really don't. Because the whole diet industry, your entire life has conditioned you to think about fast weight loss and just to value fast weight loss. I don't give a. About fast weight loss. Give a. I don't care if you lose £50amonth. I don't care. I don't care. I care about, once you get to your goal weight, how long can you keep it off for? How long can you stay at your goal weight? That's what I'm curious about. My dozo says it's really sad to hear. I've been really trying to lose it fast. I know it's sad, I mean, it's disappointing for you, but it's the reality of your situation. So again, let's just let go of all that for a second. Let's just step into here and now. You lose weight slowly, your friend loses weight quicker. So what are you going to do?
Are you going to quit because you lose weight slowly? I mean, again, I want to be supportive, but it's like I've been working on my business for over 20 years. You know what I mean? Are there's people that have been way more successful in 20 years than I have? Yeah, of course. I don't give a. What do I care? My life is my life. I'm concerned about me. And so if I was someone who lost weight slowly, I wish I lost weight quickly. There's lots of things I wish. I wish I was taller. I wish I had nicer hair. I. I wish, you know, I don't know, I look like Brad Pitt. Whatever. There's. I wish I was smarter. There's lots and lots of things I wish I had and I don't. Okay, and what are we gonna do? You know what I mean? And I think that's the conversation I want to have, and I think it's the conversation most dieters never have, and they stay stuck in their boohoos. Boohoo. Susie. Lost weight twice as fast as I did. Well, so what? Who gives a. Oh, it's gonna take me twice as long. No. And what are you gonna do? Are you gonna take twice as long and do it or are you gonna quit? Yes, I want to try everything, but it feels exhausting. Exactly. And this is the problem. You know what I mean? When we focused on fast weight loss, the flip side of fast weight loss is extreme weight loss. This is always true. The fastest way to lose weight is the most extreme way to lose weight. As I said, the fastest way to lose weight is to completely stop putting anything into your mouth. No liquids, no food. That's the fastest way. But it's also the shortest lasting way because you've got to eat and drink. So we have to look at both sides of the equation. And what most people do is they want to lose weight fast, so they choose extreme ways to do it. And they get to a point where the weight, by the way, the weight's never. It never comes off fast enough.
When you're doing something extreme, you're losing weight quickly. It's great the first couple months or whatever, but at some point, the weight slows down a little bit. And to keep up the extreme thing is very difficult. And then how about this one? You get to your goal weight, doing something extreme. Now what happens is it's almost guaranteed you're gonna put the weight back on, because you can't keep the extreme thing up because you don't have the excitement and the motivation of getting to your goal weight anymore. I know you all think being at your goal weight is as motivating, exciting as getting to your goal weight, and it's not. Because when you're getting, when you're, when you're going towards your goal weight, it's a dopamine thing. And so it's this idea that getting to my goal weight, what you start to do is you start to project this fantasy land onto your goal weight. And the diet industry has really, you know, done a lot to this, to you, but you start to think like, oh, getting to my goal weight, everything's going to improve, everything's going to be great and things are better for sure, but there's still bullshit waiting for you. And again, once you get to your goal weight, you're gonna be like, oh, what do I look forward to now? Now you're not looking. What most dieters do is they trade the excitement and the pleasure of the food for the excitement and pleasure of the scale going down. And so as soon as they hit their goal weight, now they don't have the excitement and pleasure of the food and the excitement and pleasure of the scale's gone. So how are you staying motivated? And this, I believe, is a core reason why 95% of dieters put the weight back on. So I. To me, it's like, if it takes a long time, I swear, it's just like, that's a gift for you.
Why? Because, like you just said, Uzo, you're starting to burn out, right? If as soon as the wave stops, you're just like, I can't keep this up.
That'S a good sign that what you're doing is probably too much for you. If you feel exhausted, how long are you going to stay exhausted for, Jonah? Mean, I don't feel exhausted at all. The way I live my life. I mean, I'm tired this week, I have a tired week, but it's. I love living the way I'm living, you know what I mean? And I've intentionally built it this way. I have not died. I've kept my weight off for 30 years. I've not done one single diet. And to be completely honest, I've done no consistent exercising other than the last six months. I kind of started doing push ups and some resistance stuff. I've done no consistent exercising. I am an active person because I like doing activities. They're fun for me, so I do a lot of active stuff. But I have not done any consistent workouts. I've done no diets. And that's been very intentional because I don't like doing them. And so I've built my whole plan around things that feel relatively comfortable for me. And so again, I think, Uzo, I think this is a gift that you're experiencing this now because you know what would have happened. You just go a thousand miles an hour, you lose the weight, and then you can't keep it, put the weight all back on. So I think now you're lucky to have this moment where you get to really reflect. Okay, this is going to take me a while. Just relax. What's the rush? And ironically, you might find that you start losing weight quicker because there is, it's a cortisol. It just seems like such a simplistic explanation, but I'll just use it. I think there's more to it. But I swear that for some people, they stress themselves out so much trying to lose weight that I believe they probably start increasing their cortisol levels in their body. And I think that prevents some of the weight loss, at least in the short term. Ultimately, the calories are going to come out in the wash, but in the short term, I think high cortisol levels can lead to slower weight loss. And I can't tell you the number of times I've seen people that have been like, really doing intense things to lose weight. We start working together, they kind of calm down with it, relax, and then they start losing weight. So I just seen that so many times that I got to mention it to you. Again, I wish I had a better understanding of the science behind why that happens, but I don't. I don't. But I just see it constantly. So, yeah. So again, I'm sorry for all of you out there that lose weight slowly. I. It sucks. It sucks. It's an extra challenge, but so what? I mean, everyone's got challenges.
I, I don't want to sound heartless with this either, but let's be honest, right? If you're, if you're someone who loses weight slowly, you got two options, either keep going or quit. And I can promise you next year at this time, you're going to wish you kept going. And that's my main point to you, that if you can start to slow down and relax with the process and do it more comfortably and easily, you set yourself up for long term success. My favorite quote for weight loss is that most people overestimate how much weight they can lose in a month and underestimate how much weight they can lose in a year. And I see that that, to me, encapsulates it all. And if you start changing the way you're approaching this and intentionally prioritize that, the way you're going to lose weight is comfortable and relatively easy for yourself. What happens is you start to develop a system and a plan that's just profound because it's not a constant struggle. It's relatively easy. And relatively easy things are easier to do than difficult things. You know, weight loss doesn't have to be this difficult thing. You all make it difficult because you, you treat it like a sprint, you treat it like a race that you got to get to your goal weight as fast as humanly possible. And that's what get, that creates more stress than anything else. It's not even just the change in the transformation. It's the rate and speed that you're trying to create it at. And if you just slow the down, what is your rush? Say you want to lose 40 pounds. Okay? Say you lose 25 pounds this year. That's a lot of weight. That's more than halfway to your goal. Enjoy the process. Jesus Christ. What do you think happens when you lose the £50 versus when you lose the £25? What's going to happen for real? What do you think's going to happen between those £25? Right? So you want to lose £50, you lose £25 and you, oh, let's look at £25 to go. Enjoy the £25 you just lost. Right? Because if you get halfway to your goal, you don't even appreciate it. What do you think's going to happen the next halfway? Oh, I don't want to. What, what's the reasoning? What is the reasoning that you will not appreciate the journey along the way? I don't know. I, I, I, I, I can't tell you this. You know, everyone's got to guess their own reason, but I think mostly it's diet conditioning that you've just been conditioned to think this way. And I don't know, this is one of the main key reframes you got to do because weight comes off slower than you think, and then the process of maintaining it's just way different than you think, you know? But anyways, I'm out of here. So again, if you're not my world, make sure you click the link in my bio. Go get the hypnosis session, Watch the training video I made for you, read the emails I send you. They're all going to help you. And I'm here every day, Monday through Friday, usually around noon Eastern. Get on here if you got any questions about weight. I'm happy to help you out, give you some different perspectives, you know, move you forward in a way that resonates with you and feels good. And if you miss the lives you like listening to them. It's also a podcast, so you can go to the podcast, any podcast platform, search program yourself then and up it will pop, and you can listen to it whenever you choose to. So I already want to have a super duper day and we'll talk soon. Bye.
