Jim Katsoulis describes a personal technique he discovered over the past couple weeks that has let him drink about 75% less coffee after 30 years of heavy consumption. He calls the method “micro sipping”: take very small sips (like tasting scotch), enough to get coffee on the tongue, so frequency of drinking stays similar but volume per sip is ~75% less — producing a much fuller cup by day’s end and requiring minimal willpower. The video is an informal first-person recommendation and demonstration.

A technique I use to drink 75% less coffee. I've been drinking a lot of coffee for 30 years, and the last couple of weeks, I kind of stumbled upon this technique, and it's worked wonders because I'm drinking literally 75% less coffee than I ever have. And the most amazing thing is I'm doing it literally on autopilot. There's no willpower involved. It's easy. And this is the first time I've ever experienced this with coffee. And so the technique, before I tell it to you, I want you to just encourage you. I know you're gonna be like, oh, that's. That's too simple, and you're just gonna brush it aside. I would, too. I literally. I still don't know how it's working. I don't even believe it, but it's working. And it's been a couple weeks now, and it's just so easy. And so what the technique is, is I call it micro sipping. And what it is, is you drink the coffee almost like it's scotch. And I don't drink scotch. But, you know, you take a little sip just enough to get on your tongue and drink that. And so what happens is I'm not trying to drink less frequently. You know, I'm drinking just as frequently, but every sip is literally, like, 75% less. It's just enough to get on my tongue, and then I swallow it. And yes, it takes a little bit, a tiny little bit of, like, focus and willpower, but it's easy, and I don't dread it. I'm not worried about it. I'm not thinking like, oh, I can't drink coffee anymore at all. I can drink coffee the same times that I'm always doing it, but I'm drinking way less each sip. And that is leading to me having a lot more coffee in my cup by the end of the day. So again, I just. I give it to you. Please try it, because I think you'll find if it works for you, you may find it's the easiest way you've ever seen to way, way, way reduce your coffee consumption.
