Jim Katsoulis asks viewers whether they have chosen the right goal weight and defines the “right” goal weight as the weight that gives you the best quality of life. He argues people often pick targets that are too low because they aren’t willing to live or eat at the level required, and advises choosing a sustainable weight that gives the best return on investment for lifestyle effort.

Are you choosing the right goal weight? If you're like most people, you're probably not. Now, before we figure that out, let's define what is the right goal weight. And I would suggest that you use the definition, the weight that gives you the best quality of life. And in order to figure out what that is, we can't just look at the number, we can't just look at the weight, because your weight doesn't live in a vacuum. You need to eat and live a certain way in order to achieve that weight. And most people I see that struggle with their weight are choosing a number that's too low because they're not willing to live and eat at that level. So in order to get a weight that's congruent for you, the proper goal weight for you, you need to find the weight where you can get the best return on investment, where you're willing to live and eat this way for the weight that you want to be at. And once you figure that out, it makes the whole process much, much easier moving forward.
