Jim Katsoulis argues that overweight people can't truly enjoy indulgent foods like cookies and ice cream because guilt and frustration follow. Get your weight and health in order first, he says, so you can actually enjoy these foods without the emotional hangover.
Chapters
How much you enjoy food is relative to your weight and your health. What I mean is this: if you're a person who really wants to lose weight, or you're pre-diabetic, or you know your weight is impacting your health or your life in a negative way, when you eat the cookies, the ice cream, the pizzas, these types of foods, you're not truly enjoying them, even if you think you are. Because if you notice, 5 minutes after you finish, there's a part of you that's frustrated, that's sad, that's depressed that you did it again, because you know what the ultimate consequences are. And so it's important to start focusing on these. Get your weight and your health back to a place where you want it to be. Then, then you can truly enjoy those foods when you eat them.
