Joe Downs explains why RV storage sites lose Class A motorhome tenants: aisles under 50 feet don't fit them, and 70 feet may be needed for truck-fifth-wheel combos to reach gate keypads. Poor design kills reputation.

If your aisles are under 50 feet, you physically cannot serve Class A motorhomes and large fifth wheels. You're looking at needing 50 feet plus to accommodate backing in both ways. For a fifth wheel and truck combination, you need 70 feet just to get from the street to the keypad, which should be in front of the gate. This is not negotiable. If the site design doesn't support it, Class A tenants will go elsewhere. And guess what? They tell everybody why.
