Fear is a mental projection of potential failure, not a real external threat. Like watching a scary movie, it triggers cortisol and adrenaline through the amygdala, but the danger exists only in your mind. Changing your mindset can dissolve the physiological response.
Chapters
Fear is an illusion. It's a projection that something's going to go wrong. Why are you thinking that way? Why are you thinking that way? You watch a scary movie and you get scared because it's an illusion. In real life, we do the same thing. If we're about to get up and give a speech, or we're about to go into a job interview or whatever, and we're projecting something wrong, of course it's going to trigger fear. It's going to trigger our hormonal system, the cortisol, the stress hormones, the adrenaline. It's going to trigger the amygdala in the brain, and it's going to basically— your fight or flight. And, and you're going to think it's that thing out there that's scary, that thing out there. And Murphy's going to say, no, it's not. It's what's in your mind that's scary. Change your mind and everything else changes with it.
