John Murphy explains how we interpret events: stimulus, story, choice, result. By starting with identity instead of reacting to circumstances, and repeatedly choosing the story you tell yourself, you close the gap between who you are and who you want to become.

I also believe you start with who, and the model is stimulus happens, we tell ourselves a story, we have a choice and a decision to make. That's right in the middle. That's the Viktor Frankl Man's Search for Meaning. We're all but choice. Yeah. And then we respond and we get a result. So if you win the choice moment, it's really about starting with who you are, right? And so that's the identity and belief work people have to do. And that way, when that stimulus happens and the story you're telling yourself, here we go again, I'm going to fail. No, no, no, no, no. It's, I'm someone who believes I can succeed, or whatever that is for the individual. That's the choice moment. And we make thousands of these choices every single day, but it's that gap. And the more you do it, the more you can, you can close the gap. So I would just add on to, you know, that piece. Start with who, who you're becoming. Not just, maybe it's not who you are today too. It's that Z, who, who that vision is for you.
