Welcome to the State Shifters Podcast, a show dedicated to helping you discover your true potential through connecting the mind, body and soul. Jumping here to do some live lessons coming at you. So I do these regular live chats every Monday to share lessons along the journey of life that I'm taking and with the intention of giving some value to you guys, perhaps within my lessons, within my challenges, breakdowns, breakthroughs to maybe serve you on your journey. So it's Monday morning out here in Australia and I'm jumping on here just to share insights with you guys. You know, like, like I've always emphasized, Sundays are such a crucial moment to reflect on lessons that you've taken from your week, but most importantly, planning your attention intentions for the week that's coming up. I do this every single day. Sunday night, reflect on my on my lessons and then create intentions going forward for the week. And then on Mondays I just share my lessons with you guys. So this time last week, like, I was going through a lot of energy, which is coming through me, and I was getting really excited about all the things that were shifting in my life and my business. And I got a little bit too carried away with the exercise. I was just, like, exercising a little too much and I didn't take breaks. And that was a huge lesson this week because I came down with a bit of a flu at the start of the week. It's almost like life just goes. Knocks you on the head and says, hey, slow down. And it's your body's way of saying, hey, hey, slow things down, mate. You're doing too much. So I got a bit of a flu at the start of last week, so I did the full slowdown. I had to cancel a lot of calls later in the week and just took a break from exercise and just gave my body a chance to recover. So. So a massive lesson from that, as always, and something I'm always reminding myself is it's great to push, to push to do, to do. But if you're not incorporating times when you're relaxing, you're slowing down and you're actually doing nothing, you can actually overwork yourself and burn yourself out pretty quickly. And it doesn't matter how often you meditate, if you're grinding all the time and you're not giving your body a chance to recover, it will catch up with you, you will get sick, and your body will let you know. So that goes back to, like, identifying where it is you fit within that spectrum, understanding what it is that you need. Because some people easily do nothing. They don't do enough. Actually, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. My default is I try to do too much. So I need to incorporate more of doing nothing, slowing down. So I would invite you, whoever is listening, to check in with where you're at in that spectrum. Are you doing too much and is it time to incorporate more, slowing down, or is it time to do more? And it's finding that sweet balance like it's the poles of life. There's two different spectrums. You know, there's the one extreme and the other extreme. We're really trying to find this, like, middle ground, this middle way. Middle way. Lao Tzu calls it the. The way the Dao Te Ching is the middle ground. It's the path of least resistance. Not trying to do too much, but at the same time, not chilling out and not doing. Not doing anything. So there's a Big lesson that came through that. And listen to your body. Your body will actually be giving you the indicators of what it needs. You'll feel into, is it time for me to chill? Is it time for me to speed up and do more? So check in with yourself and check in with the mind. The mind will keep you stuck in the story of, I'm never doing enough, or there's no point, it's not worth it, or this story of lies that your mind will feed. You. Make it a priority to listen to the body. And straight away, I noticed when I was getting sick, I was like, shit. My body just wants to rest. It just wants to chill the hell out, you know? And weekends, I'm noticing, are the times for that. For me, weekends are no exercise. Chill out on the intense routines where we're trying to get everything done. Just allow yourself to slip into a. Into a flow. Allow your natural feminine energy to take over on the weekends and just do what you feel like. And then within your weeks, have your structure. That's what I do. I create my structure in my weeks where, like, I wake up at a certain time, I do my workouts in the morning. You know, I have. I have a routine and structure because that allows me to get things done effectively. But being too structured all the time creates this rigidity. Rigidity is a great word, rigidity in. In who you are. You need to find this balance between flow and structure. And again, I'm a work in progress. I'm no master at it, but every single week that's going by, I'm getting better at finding this sweet flow of routines and rituals, but flow and flexibility and creativity, because if you can find that balance, you can be. Especially if you're in business or anyone who's on here is in business. That's where it's at. Because most if you're running a business, there's creativity that's required. That's the ability to adapt and be flexible. And I spoke about this last week on my last video was being fluid, like water. Water's flexible. It shifts and molds around things that come up in its way. We got to be the same. If you're too structured and you're too rigid, life will hit up against you and it'll kind of break you down. So routine give you the structure. Being able to take time off and slowing down gives you the flexibility to move with life, depending on what it's throwing at you. So that was a. That was a really key distinction for me. Just. Just within the routines that I create because I have no issues with maintaining routines. And I agree, man. Scheduling times for certain activities. Yeah, 100%. Like on my calendar, like I'll have like Jordan time blocked out. And that Jordan time might be a two hour block, maybe in a Wednesday afternoon. And I don't know what that's going to look like yet. All I know is it's my time and it's depending on how I feel in that moment is what I'll insert in there. It might be. I might go for a walk around to a nice park and sit in the park and have a read. I might go meditate. I might go and do a yoga class. I might just chill at home and read a book. You know, I might just have a nap. Jordan time depends on what it is that my body needs in that moment. Now that isn't structured, that's flexible, that's fluid, that's creative. If it's too structured, meaning I've got like every single day of the week mapped out at 9 to 10. I do my exercise 10 to 11. I meditate or whatever. I take calls at these times. It's too rigid and my body might be like, I don't feel like exercising today. I just want to chill out. But if you're a tough task master and you keep pushing yourself beyond what your body's telling you, that's when you get sick or that's when things start to feel like it's a grind. And if you're in business and you're in life, or if you just, if you're just trying to create something, it should be fun. You know, this shit's got to be fun, man. And within the spontaneous activities that don't have any structure, where you just go, I'm just going to go for a walk. Because I feel like I don't know where I'm going to go. Creativity, insights and clarity comes through. And I'm telling you guys, this is where it's at. Because if your routine set up correctly, it will allow you to have spontaneity throughout your day. Because routine is allowed you to get stuff done. So you want to get the stuff done that you need to get done so that you can have more of these spontaneous activities in your day. Because if you're in a business that's creative or you're trying to get new ideas and new inspiration, that's when it's going to come through your meditations and your walks and you're just like chilling out, just drawing stuff or, or whatever. Sometimes I'll go to the park and keep the soccer ball around. Just play sport and just, just have fun. And I'll always get the inside. I'll be like, exercising and playing. Oh, wow, that's what I should do next. That's the content I should create or that's who I need to connect with. So really important to have that balance and flow and at the same time, always reminding yourself, right, that, you know, if it's not fun when doing something wrong. And that was the whole reason why I started a business. It's got to be fun. Anytime that I catch myself slipping into old, like, corporate, corporate world mode. I used to be an accountant, so the old corporate mindset of, like, I gotta clock in at this time, I gotta clock out at that time, I have to be productive. If you get stuck, stuck in this old model of, like, work should be work, to me, it defeats the point. Like, and even if you don't enjoy your job, how can you find ways to create some fun and flexibility in your day until you can start your own business and design your own, your own day? So it's going to be fun. And I encourage you to find that. And sometimes fun is growth, sometimes fun is feeling productive. But if you're too obsessed with being productive all the time, and you're not just like, chilling out and doing fun, flexible stuff, then that becomes, that becomes your crux. You get stuck trying to do things all the time. So business is a wonderful lesson in that. Business has taught me so many lessons in life because there's no one on my case. There's no one saying, hey, get up and go do this. There's no one saying, hey, chill out. It's all on you. So ultimately, the growth in life comes down to how willing you're, how willing you are to begin an inner process and better yourself. Because the business or your job or whatever you do outside is just a reflection of what's going on in the inside. So this is where anyone's on here has a business. Your number one priority should be doing that, your inner work, the emotional work. Because the way you show up in your business is, like I just said, a reflection of you. And when you prioritize, you and you start to, like, peel back the layers so that more energy is coming out of you, then that gets translated into your business, the conversations you have, the people you hang out with, and life becomes a flow. So, you know, that's essentially what my work has become about guiding and teaching and supporting others and mastering that internal game. Because I've realized once you master the internal game, I haven't mastered it. Well, I'm on the. On the process, or we're all on the road to mastery. But once you make it a priority, then all of a sudden you realize life can be easy. It doesn't have to be that difficult for a long time. Like, you know, we get caught in this notion that life should be hard, it should be a grind, it should be a hustle. We have to work really hard to get the things we want. A lot of times if you just slow down and looked at what it is that you're holding on to that's getting in your way of you having the thing that you want, you realize you just have to go in and face some shit and let it go. And all of a sudden your energy changes and the things you want come to you. It's a new model of reality. I speak about it all the time. Joe Dispenser talks about the quantum model of reality, that what you want, you already have. It's inside of you and you're actually blocking it from coming through. So the inner process is just about peeling back layers so that you become more free, so that you become more receiving. And I've noticed the more you put peel back the layers and the more you connect with who you really are, the less you actually want or need anything outside of you. And that's when, you know, happens to me all the time. Like, but when it clicks, when I feel like, hey, I'm so topped up on gratitude and love and appreciation for life that I don't need any more money, I don't need anything else, all of a sudden the people show up, the opportunity show up, the things you need in your journey just show up. When all of a sudden you don't need it. So think about it. If you want more money, if you want more and a bigger house, you want another car, if you want more friends, what are the emotions you want to feel after you get those things? If it's a feeling of abundance, a feeling of appreciation, if it's a feeling of joy, gratitude, kindness, if whatever that feeling is, identify what's inside of you that's blocking it from coming through. Maybe there's an excuse that the mind's creating that's distracting you from an emotion that you're afraid to feel. So all of a sudden your work then becomes about how can you carve out time in your day where you can get out of your mind and into your body? I read this great thing the other day I was talking about that the next chapter in your life, the doorway to the next chapter in your life is always right in front of you. But the price of entry is your mind. But that one sink in the doorway to the next chapter is always right in front of you. But the price of entry is your mind. Your mind can't come along with you. The minute you can silence the mind and put it to the side and look at the next chapter is actually behind an emotion, a suppressed emotion or feeling that is trying to be felt. Once you're able to go in there and feel that and let it go, bang, level up, just walk through the door. Next chapter. So that can look like for example, at a phone conversation with someone. And she was suppressing her emotions. She'd never done much of the emotional work before, so this was a completely new thing for her. I was like, look, look, you're gonna have to slow down and start to look at what are the old patterns that your mind has created that keeps you distracted from feeling these emotions. Those old thinking patterns are tied to old behavior patterns. Watching tv, flicking on social media, distracting ourselves through food, just doing unproductive tasks, that's the old way of being in the old patterns. The next step in your journey is identifying, okay, this is the old pattern that's there. And the new pattern I want to create is I'm gonna go into these feelings now instead of running from them. And she was like, fuck, that's scary. Wow, I'm really nervous. This is overwhelming. I was like, yeah, probably is gonna be overwhelming if you've never done this before. This is scary shit. Because in the past we're so used to these instant pleasures, we're addicted to the magic pill. Social media, watch tv. It's these little instant pleasures that we give ourselves so that we don't have to feel the uncomfortableness, the discomfort of our emotions. So like this, this isn't the easy route, but it's short term pain for long term gain. It's like going to the gym. Every time you go to the gym, you work your muscles fucking. Nobody loves going to the gym because it's uncomfortable. But you know how you're going to feel afterwards, you know how you're going to look facing your emotions. The exact same shit. Short term pain, long term game and just creating new patterns inside of yourself that says, every time that I feel down and shitty, this is what I do. I don't default into numbing, distracting, hiding, avoiding, actually go in to where the emotions are held and it's all in the body. So your practices are built around how can I silence my mind, step into my body and give space towards down there to be felt? Meditation, yoga, journaling, walking, spending time in nature, having coaching calls, whatever it is. And once you know that it's down there, you go in with that intention. So the goal is very simple. The intention is very simple. Keep the mind silent, be aware of what's going on inside the body so that you know, anytime you come up against resistance or triggers that you know where it is, your awareness is sharp. One of the ways I've been doing that is just through mindfulness. Like I love meditation. Meditation for me is like the deeper practice where you sit for long periods. Mindfulness is just a simple way of training your self awareness. It's like a muscle. Mindfulness is like we sit for 10 to 15 minutes and just focus on your breath. That's like the gym for your mind. And you know, going to the gym for my mind is a daily thing. I go to the gym for my body, but I go for the gym for my mind every day. That shit doesn't get missed yet. I keep talking to people and I'm like, do you meditate? Do you have a mindfulness practice? Nah. But they work out every day. They're training their body, but they're not training their mind. This is just as important, guys. Like, you know, I just want to acknowledge everyone who's on here and I want, I want that to sink in. Prioritize your mind and your emotions just as much as your body because they're all interconnected. You can't have one without the other. So start prioritizing the gym for your emotions in your mind. Make it a number one priority and you're going to notice some big shifts because when you start to do that, your mental muscle gets stronger, you get more awareness, you start to notice things, you're less reactive. And breathing is another great way. Breaths are the anchor in which you train your mind to be more in the present moment. The breath is the way you train your mind to be more in the present moment. Powerful tool. It's always there, it's always available. Every time you focus on your breath, guess what? You're in the moment, you're out of your head, you're aware of what's going on. That's your superpower, guys. Superpower is your self awareness to notice your triggers and notice when things come up, they get in your way. Cool, wanted to share that.
