In this guided meditation, Joy D. Fanning leads listeners through a practice designed to cultivate self‑friendship. The session begins with an invitation to get comfortable, close the eyes, and take deep, long breaths. Listeners are then guided to visualize themselves standing in Times Square, observing the crowd as projections of who they wish to be, think they are, or think others see them as. The meditation emphasizes that these projections are not the true self. Listeners are instructed to focus on their heart space, allowing the projections to fade until they are alone, and then to call in their "real you" without expectation. A dialogue with this true essence follows, culminating in a symbolic hand‑holding and merging of bodies, signifying integration with one’s full self. The practice ends with gratitude toward the higher self, a reminder that a friend lives inside each person, and a gentle return to the body with a closing Namaste.

Picture yourself now standing in Times Square. Are there others around? Stay there and watch the others around you. These people you see rushing by are projections of yourself. They are who you wish to be, who you thought you were, and who others think you are. They are not you. Know that within you is your energy, your essence that is only yours. Focus now on your heart space, and as you do so, watch as all of these projections fade until you are alone in Time Square. When you are ready, call in the real you. Have no expectations of what they will be like. Just call them in and tell them you are ready to meet them and know them. When they arrive, have a conversation with them.

The real you holds out their hand in friendship. Take their hand and step into them, letting your bodies merge. You are your full self. Friends with your true essence. Give gratitude now to your higher self and yourself for taking this time to focus on being your own friend. Know that whenever you need a friend, one lives inside of you. Return now to your body, opening your eyes, moving around. You did a wonderful thing here today. Being your own friend is a gift anyone can give themselves, but few do. Know that you are never alone. With love and light, Namaste.
