Hello, my name is Joy D. Fanning, an astronaut of life. I'm a high vibe storyteller that helps people go inward to explore. I do this through meditation. I love to meditate. I do meditation readings, which are just readings that we do together, um, via meditation, and I get messages and convey those to you. I also offer personalized meditations and pre-recorded meditations. You can find those on my website or my Etsy store. Today's video is about creativity and your inner child and how they're just so connected, right? Like, it's kind of crazy. Um, there's a lot of motorcycles right now. They're basically racing around the mountain outside my window. So if you hear them in the background, I sincerely apologize. I do have a mic on. I'm going to try to edit out all the motorcycle stuff. And of course, Cubie is here to jump on my lap. Let's just get your hello out of the way. Hello, everybody. Okay, so we're talking about creativity and the inner child. When I tap into my inner child, which I did this morning, which was so fun. I don't know about you guys, but I just freaking love my inner child energy. She is so fun. She's so happy. I like— I can't even sit still when I'm in that energy. Like, I'm that happy and I just feel like a big kid and I don't give a flying flip, you know, that I'm being a big kid. I just, I just go with it because odds are it's not going to last forever. And I just love being in that energy, right, Kili? Right. So yeah, when— to me though, now bear with me here— when I tap into that inner child, oh, it feels so similar to tapping into my creativity. To me, they're practically identical energies, slightly different but not really. And I think that's because I'm not an expert or anything, this is just like my two cents, right? But I am like a psychic and an energy person and on spiritual path, so hopefully this resonates with you. But I feel like they go hand in hand because when I'm tapping into my creativity, when I'm writing my novel especially— there they are. So when I'm like writing my novel, because right now for me that's creative part. Right now I'm editing, which is kind of creative, but not creative as writing a first draft, but still creative. When I'm tapping into that energy, that excitement, the excitement that comes from it reminds me a lot of the inner child. To me, the inner child is a— for me, is a little more bubbly, a little more active. But I mean, there's a zillion ways to be creative, and there's a zillion ways to to interact with your inner child. To me, both are in the realm of limitless impossibilities, limitless possibilities, and our imagination. And I just, I just love my imagination so much. I love using it. I love everything about it. I wish everybody had an imagination like mine. That sounds a little braggy, but I mean, like, I just wish they did because I just love it so much. And I— sorry, I'm kind of itchy, but I, I just love tapping into that energy. And for me, it's, dare I say, joyful. I think a lot of times our creative blocks can stem from trauma or unhealed inner child wounds. And this brings me to why inner child work is so important. Now, you want to do this inner child work— I feel like I should back up and explain what an inner child is, which I'm not looking this up. This is just me kind of coming up with it on the fly. So if you're not used to this term inner child, I think you'll still probably recognize this energy because as an adult, sometimes you might feel like you're in that same emotional state that you were when you were happy as a child. That's the energetic feeling of it. But your inner child is just that— it's a piece of you that lives inside of you that is childlike. When I write about inner child in my meditations, I always, um, say it's a child. And for me personally, it shows up as a, as a child, usually like a little girl, right? It's so powerful because our childhoods, we don't— I don't think we always realize as an adult how they affect us, but they do. And Oh, I'd have to look up this study or something, but like, isn't it like in the first 3 years of life, like the most knowledge gaining and things like that are done? And your personality is being created. So it's super important, right? This childhood that we each have. You can't be a human and not go through the child phase. It's impossible. At right now anyway. I'm a sci-fi nerd. To me, everything's possible. But you have to start off as a baby, grow into a child, then an adult, a teen, and then an adult. So that's to me what your inner child is. It's literally what the word describes. It's the childlike presence, childlike personality traits that you still have carried through and all the baggage that goes with it, that's your inner child. So when I talk about healing your inner child, it can get a little dark. And sometimes it's not even like abuse or anything, because it could just be somebody said something to us, right? It doesn't have to be this big scary event. It certainly can be, It doesn't have to be because remember, it's the way— it's about how you felt as a child when it happened. So it could be your brother. I'm making this up. I have a brother, so if he watches this, I don't want him to think I'm picking on him like he picked on me all those years. It's about how you in that, at that age, whenever it happened, you know, felt. So maybe now if like my brother teased me, that's no big deal, but at age 4, it could have really hurt my feelings, right? Like I could be so offended and have this pain and then not deal with it. So it's kind of like past life trauma, but this is about your childhood. That's just a very vague example. Certainly it can be a traumatic experience. This is why inner child work is so important, and it's also why it's so hard, because, I mean, you basically have to relive those feelings. And then most of the meditations I make around the inner child, it's all about scooping up that little child. For me, a little girl And I usually just hold her and she's crying or whatever from whatever pain, which is me. But like adult me is holding her and I'm like, hey, you know what? This is over. We don't need to hold on to this anymore. This doesn't serve us to hold on to what Markie said when we were 4. We don't need to do that. We're in a safe place now. And sweetie, you are so loved. And I just kind of hug her just like I would a normal, like, a kid in the 3D, like my reality, right? And I comfort her, which is essentially comforting myself. It's, it's inner work. As a creative, I feel like this is important because if you don't do this inner child work, it's, it's gonna be harder to get into that childlike excitement around creating. It's to me, it's just like putting a yoke. It's like putting a yoke around your neck. And as a creative, like, obviously that's the last thing I want, right? I don't want a yoke around my neck. I want to be free. I want to move. I want to dance. Well, for me, I want to write. I want to make videos. I want to make cool graphics. But if, if, if we're not in touch with that inner child, And, and if you have a different opinion, I'm actually more than open to it. Please list it below. But if we're not working with that inner child, if we're not regularly tapping into that blissful— not blissful, but like joyful, I don't give a fuck, I'm a little kid, I'm gonna dance around in my tutu whether I'm in the recital or not energy— and that energy that that child has, that you had as a child, that you can still tap into. So powerful. So powerful. Why in the world would you not want to use that with your creativity? I mean, right? Basically, all I wanted to share, um, to me, that's how creativity and the inner child kind of work together. They kind of play off each other. And I feel for myself personally is what I'm speaking from. It's easier for me to create when I'm in that inner child energy and I'm channeling my inner child and I am just little Joy and I am having so much fun and I want to get my hands dirty. I want to dance around. Great ideas come then, everything. Oh, I just love it. And, hmm, now I feel like I should give a tip on how to get into that inner child energy. Sometimes I just wake up and I'm in that energy. If it's a random I don't know how I got into it, but I know I'm in it. Oh, I just enjoy it. I'm like, you know what? I'm happy today. I mean, I like— I want to go play or something. Being creative can help you tap into that inner child energy. Doing a fun thing, you know, a non-work thing. So that could be playing a game, watching a movie. To me, it's more active though. Like, go to a playground and slide down a slide if you have to, or go sit on a seesaw with somebody else and play. Just play. That's how you tap into it. Don't be afraid to be silly. I think most people are silly by themselves, so you might already do that. Like, if you dance around, use your hairbrush as a microphone. You guys ever watch that movie Hot Rod? Oh my gosh. Where like his like brother, like one of those lonely— is it Lonely Planet? You know what I mean. Where he's like singing to his stuffed animals. Sorry, I totally fell on the floor laughing during that scene once. But like, that's when you're by yourself time where you act like a fool and you don't care because you're by yourself. Ding, ding, ding, ding, jackpot. You're like, Joy, I don't do that. Try it. What did you do as a kid? You know what? I'll use my— I always use my family members for example. Last week was my dad. Now it's my brother because my brother loved maps. As a kid. He liked Hot Wheels too, but maps. Like, he had atlases and globes, big Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego fan. And like, I had Barbies and stuffed animals, right? My brother had maps. He was much more, um, into that than me, which he has a degree in geography, so that is no surprise at all, right? But like, if I was— if he was like, Joy, how do I tap into my inner child? For him, play was learning about the globe, learning maps. I feel like my brother, he had toys, but I just remember like being, hey Mark, you want to play? And he's got maps all over his floor. So if my brother came to me now and was like, I don't know how to tap into my inner child, I mean, like, remember that joy you had when you were looking at a map And like, I would come in and you would tell me how, like, all about the statistics of Nigeria or something, and like the capital and their biggest exports. And that excitement you had when you did that, maybe look at a map, try to learn something new that you don't know, which I know you know a lot, but just try. Bring in that excitement. You know, you don't have to play with Hot Cars or Hot Wheels. Hot Cars. Well, you know, but if you want to, fine. Playing actually is— if you have children, play with your children. I don't have children, but I used to work in a daycare and I like freaking loved playing blocks or playing, um, make-believe with them. I mean, they were 2, but, um, it allowed me to tap into my own inner child. I think that's why teaching was so fun for me was because I got to tap into my inner child. Like, I would play games and it would be educational, but it was almost like little Joy was right there with my students. And so play, play, creativity, right? They go together. So if you don't know how, just play whatever sounds fun. Go play, go play baseball. Go join a club, whatever you need to do to bring that in. And you'll notice as you tap into your creative energy, it's going to mix with that inner child. And to me, when you get them both aligned, oh man, is it amazing. So since this month we're talking about creativity, that's the whole reason for this video, which I probably should have said in the beginning. But, um, I'm gonna say it now. Um, I didn't talk about my readings. If you're watching this before the 22nd of February, which I know is only like— I'm putting this video out on Sunday, so if you see it, um, on the 22nd, I made a meditation today that we will do that day in a large group.
