Welcome to Milan Design Week! In these upcoming episodes, I'll show you my favorite finds from the conference and highlight the exciting happenings at Milan Design Week. Let's begin by exploring stunning kitchen designs, starting with FIBO Casa's modern kitchens featuring natural and warm tones.
I was thinking this is a pantry, but it's not. It's really cool. So go in. They had their microwave in here, some shelves, basically keeping all the appliances hidden. It's a really cool take.
This is a great example of a modern contemporary kitchen where everything is behind closed doors. Also, what I love are these textured marble countertops, which perfectly complements the sleek kitchen design. What I liked here is the concept of bringing in warm terracotta color into our kitchens. It instantly brightens up the room. I love the detailing on the island, matching the overhang in terracotta color to create an island seating area. As you can see, the countertops, the backsplash, and even the hood are all wrapped in the same material— not a natural stone, but actually porcelain. With a click of a button, the island slides out, revealing your cooktop, sink, and faucet all neatly tucked away inside and only appearing when needed. This is a very cool example for a galley kitchen or small condo. I love how the sink overhangs at the end of the peninsula, creating extra prep space. And what's cool is that this stunning material is isn't even marble.
This is the most representative material that we have. So we start from the laminate, something like this. This is our entry level.
Okay.
The lacquer.
Okay. Different kind of lacquer material. The PC material.
Okay.
Or the wood veneer material.
Got it. On this cabinet that I like. So there's no waste of space, kind of like two cabinets in one. There's some shelving on the door too. Then I'm gonna close it. How it stacks so well. Well, this is just a future kitchen. I mean, just the design. I mean, look at the light fixture up on the ceiling. I mean, come on.
Insane.
The function of this guy right here?
Yeah, this is an aspiration knob, sir. Okay. In this part we have a hood. A hood?
Okay.
In the pipe there's a true filter.
Okay.
Carbon filter.
Ah, got it, got it, got it. Because you have the slider. Okay, yeah. So those have knobs and this just has the buttons.
Okay, okay. It's very cool.
This is basically their steel material, and these are outdoor pods. And this is an induction, but you can always have Also have a gas if you like. I mean, whatever you like, they can make that for you. And it also comes with storage on the bottom. I really like this. Comes in lots of different material. Even your sink kind of like, you know, closes and it doesn't get dirty. I like the foss— the faucet. And then you got your soap dispenser, so everything is nicely put away. This is marble. Oh, okay. Oh, it's very beautiful. I like the texture on it. Yeah, I mean, marble is beautiful, but this textured finish is really nice.
This is the Lattice kitchen here. Fogger is a company, uh, northern of Italy, and Fogger means It's a fireplace in the country houses.
Got it.
Okay.
Right.
That's a neat fireplace where the old people were cooking and living together, you know. First of all, it's all, you know, you try.
Yeah.
I like it. Yeah. Then we do, we do everything. We do the grill. We do the frytop. You can have all grill. You can have frytop. You can have the stone. Yeah. All the stone. And you can have the I show you for the pizza and for slow cooking. This is our grill, you know, very easy to clean, to keep.
You can put it in a washing machine.
All these grills? Okay. Yes, because there are two pieces.
Oh, got it.
It just lifts up. So this is very, very functional. And this is refractory stone.
Okay.
For pizza. So you make the pizza, you put it here, you close. And in 1 minute, 1 minute and a half, you have your pizza.
Wow. Okay.
And you can also bake here. I mean, you can make some cakes, you can make bread, you can make it with the same thing.
Oh, wow.
But this is an accessory. You take it out and you put the grill, you put the stone for the slow cooking. Okay. And here you can put all your chips, wooden chips for the smell, for the air.
The countertop here just glides off and you can push it back in. If you like colorful kitchens, This is it. Behind the main kitchen, we have the second kitchen, which is very popular at the moment. You can cook in here. There is a small sink with lots of storage. It's a pantry and a kitchen.
There's lots of interesting stuff here. I think especially designers, they should all come here. Every few years or every couple of years, however you guys want to do it. It is open to the general public the last 2 days, and this time it will be on Saturday and Sunday. It's already so crazy, I was very overwhelmed. So comfortable shoes, comfortable clothes is really important. And yeah, let's keep going.
Schneider is part of the pillars of Italian design, especially when it comes to kitchens. Yeah. We've been around for about 80 years and our focus has always been on kitchens. Yeah. Started with kitchens as a local manufacturer company, and then obviously we've introduced a lot of technological evolution to our designs. This kitchen in particular has a brand new finish actually, which we launched today.
Oh nice!
So these doors are actually stainless steel front doors.
Yeah.
The stainless steel is treated with a method called PVD. Okay. So basically the door is put in an airtight environment, and in that environment it's It's surrounded by vapor that's charged with a metal, and this metal attaches to the door thanks to like an electric charge to the door.
Oh, and what's this top again?
The top is ceramic.
It's ceramic.
Yeah, so it's a very durable material when it comes to, you know, kitchen benchtops. Obviously, they're used as ceramic floor tiles as well.
Yeah.
It allows a thickness of 12mm, which gives this very sort of minimal, beautiful look. So this is our pocket door system, which is very popular if you want to, you know, hide away a section of your kitchen. So it's a very clever mechanism.
Yeah, this is why it's quite dark, and it just disappears. It's like a foldable door.
Yeah, and it's my personal favorite, to be honest. I, when I first saw it, I thought it's leather. Oh, you know, it's this very, uh, it does give that effect, very soft, very textural, but it's not leather. Yeah, um, it is the base of it is a mudlucker. In your case, it's a red mudlucker. And then what happens is each single door is hand scratched.
Oh, okay.
Uh, by a person singularly, very, very lightly. Uh, and then on top of, uh, those, uh, scratches that have been created, um, there is a dust of, you know, like a metal, a golden metal dust in this case, that gets sprayed and a Phoenix top to, to basically matte that with. Yeah, matte lacquer. So it creates this very sort of monolithic sculptural almost look, all in the same or similar type of material. I love Yeah, so this is a range hood system with some integrated wine glass holders. I like that. And also some light.
Oh, nice.
For basically the workspace.
So like a prep.
So we call that Boiserie system.
Okay.
It's basically paneling for the walls. You can add shelves at whatever heights you need them. And in this case, we've got these LED lighting which really make the kitchen, you know, it's something— it's quite nice.
Is this metal?
Yeah, it's aluminium. Oh, so I'm not sure whether it's— oh no, this is the fridge, sorry. So it's all aluminium inside as well. And like the—
yeah, okay.
But this is definitely one of our most popular. It's called Frame. Okay. And it's been designed by Italian architect Massimo Iazzaghini. Okay. So definitely a big name and an iconic design associated with it. We have almost like a classical kitchen, you know, with this shaker style doors with the frame around it. I think it's very interesting because although it is a classical take on a kitchen. Saint Laurent marble, I'm not sure, but I think it comes from Maybe Brazil?
Okay.
You know, enriches any kitchen so beautifully. It offers a lot of transparency.
Yeah.
You can, you know, you have the opportunity to put some design, you know, pieces in there as showcase pieces. The backing, we've seen it in the other kitchen earlier, was in the quartz side. Maybe you've got the island in one finish and the cabinetry here in another finish, and you can sort of marry them both in here by recalling the same. Very big, very heavy.
Yeah.
Um, and very beautiful when, you know, integrated in this type of door. This is a glass door. Um, we've got a 3mm glass panel with a metal mesh at the back of it. I, in terms of the look of it, I really love the gas.
Oh really?
Uh, yeah, because they're quite chunky, like a very big I think they have a couple of different finishes. The brand is called Pitt, and this is their induction model. It's actually the first time I see it installed. I love it. Yeah, it is absolutely—
yeah, they're so beautiful. I love the detailing on it.
Yeah.
Okay.
If you want to impress your guests and want a stylish and very cool bar, look no further.
Oh, oh, oh, you know what this is for?
Here's a clever storage feature inside the door for your cling wrap and foil. As we wrap up our kitchen exploration, let me show you bathroom designs that will completely transform your idea of luxury living. This is luxury at its best, with top-of-the-line marble, lights integrated in the vanity system, and lighting surrounding the whole vanity as an accent light.
That's a nice hall. Oh wow.
Wow, this is so beautiful! A green marble bathtub. I'd actually even have this outdoors in a beautiful garden surrounded by nature. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
Oh, this is so nice. As you get up close, it's a really nice color. Love it. Look at all these. I would call this a little pop of sunshine in your bathroom. It's a cool take on a bathtub being something as colorful as this. So it's not your plain old white bathtub or something with marble. I mean, this is really fun. I'm liking these small powder rooms that are compact but at the same time have a pop of color. It's contemporary, it's clean, and it's beautiful at the same time. Wow, it's nice and deep. I didn't think it would be this deep. So— looks cozy.
I want to relax in here.
If you are someone thinking, okay, the first day might be too many people, then maybe the last 2 days will be a little bit better because there are a lot of people here. But overall, a really good conference to come to, and especially to Milan. Like I said before, there is lots of inspiration all over the city, in the Design District, at the conference, um, every little places that you'll be turning into, you'll see a lot of cool things happening.
