In this short video, interior designer Kanika Bakshi‑Khurana shares the oldest decorative item in her home—a pure silver tray that is over a century old and was inherited from her grandmother at her wedding. She emphasizes the tray’s sentimental value, describing it as "very close to my heart," and highlights its unique qualities: it is made of pure, unmixed silver, exceptionally delicate, and features intricate hand‑carved designs. Kanika contrasts this heirloom with contemporary silverware, noting that modern pieces often contain mixed metals, making the pure silver tray a rare and cherished artifact in her collection.

Hi Kanika, what's the oldest piece of decor you have in your home? Um, it's actually something very special, very close to my heart because it belonged to my grandma, and it's right here in my hands. It's a silver, um, tray, and it's more than 100 years old, and it came with my grandma when she got married. And I absolutely love this piece because we don't have silver like this anymore. It is so delicate, so light, like there's no mixed material in the silver. Like these days, other you know, metals are mixed into it. This is pure silver. And then I'm going to take you guys a little bit closer, like all the carving on it. It is so beautiful. Like, I love this piece. It's very, very, very close to my heart.
