In this travel‑and‑design vlog, Kanika Bakshi‑Khurana (Kanika Design) documents a brief two‑night stop in North Macedonia before heading to Corfu, Greece. She begins in the lake town of Ohrid, exploring the 11th‑century Church of Saint Sophia and noting how its historic murals use colour and pattern to create calm interiors. Walking the streets she spots lantern‑style light fixtures and visits the Aquarius Café, highlighting how everyday details inspire her design sensibility. A conversation with a local artist leads to a discussion of contemporary abstract works, colour combinations, and the value of understanding artistic intent. Kanika then explains the logistics of crossing from North Macedonia into Albania and Greece, taking a car‑friendly ferry to Corfu. In Corfu’s Old Town she observes a blend of Venetian, French and British architectural influences, likening the main square to Venice’s Piazza San Marco. She visits Danilia Village, a 1930s Spanish‑style replica built by two brothers, describing its brick walls, fireplace, blue‑ceiling stars, and the surrounding courtyard that feels like a historic wedding venue. The vlog also features a 14th‑century ghost town on a hill, noting recent preservation efforts and the quiet resurgence of local life. Throughout, Kanika reflects on the contrast between winter in Macedonia and warm off‑season weather in Corfu, emphasizing the creative benefits of slowing down, connecting with locals, and observing regional design details. Hi everyone, so we are in North Macedonia, and like I said before in the previous episode that we're not going to shoot any content here because this was simply a 2-night stay before we got to Corfu, Greece. But I guess there is inspiration everywhere around the world, so let's go into the city and find What's out there? Border crossing to North Macedonia. Inside the old church, beautiful murals cover the walls. As an interior designer, I was amazed by how these old artworks Use color and patterns to make the space feel peaceful and calm. Built in the 11th century, the Church of Saint Sophia is one of North Macedonia's most important historical buildings. Fun fact: the city is also known as the City of Churches. As I was standing by the lake, I remember thinking to myself, "Oh man, I finally feel like I'm on vacation." Being by the water and mountains is where I find peace, and I wish it was the summer months and that I could have stayed longer. Walking around the streets of Lake Oret, there are so many hidden inspirations. For me, it started by noticing these light fixtures that look like lanterns, and you could see them in all corners of the city. So where am I in North Macedonia? I am at a lake town called Lake Ohrid. Guys, it's absolutely beautiful even in the wintertime. It's definitely a summer destination, but I would say, you know, if you are around these countries, you should do a little stopover. There was this one spot that caught my attention. Was the Aquarius Cafe, which happens to be my sun sign. The city's artistic charm reveals itself around every corner, making it perfect to explore on foot.

Yes, it's not about— yes, well, that's very nice. It's been a short stay, and if I had more time, I would have enjoyed exploring the country's roots and understanding what truly inspires people here in their design choices. Through my conversations with locals, I discovered that most people only come here for day trips. This is truly a place that deserves a longer stay. Spend time here, connect with the locals, and you'll discover why I consider this place the heart of Eastern Europe. North Macedonia Ciao for now, until next time. So why am I here in Corfu, Greece? Well, because it was 3 weeks on our journey on this road trip and we were honestly very exhausted, so we thought Before heading to Albania, let's go to Corfu. And the weather was fantastic. So imagine going from freezing temperatures to upper 70s. It was the right time and we took that chance.
Look at this person driving 150, 160 in the speed of 130. Look at this person freaking out.
How we got to Corfu. We crossed the border from North Macedonia into Albania, then from Albania into Greece, and caught an hour and a half ferry to Corfu Island. What's interesting is that you can take your car on the ferry. The journey was scenic with beautiful views of the sea along the way. The ferry system is well organized and runs multiple times daily, making it convenient for both locals and tourists to access the island.
Hello!
I absolutely loved the Old Town. The main square by the entrance reminded me of Piazza San Marco in Venice. I am so glad we are here in off-season. The streets were not overrun by tourists and the weather was great. You could see the locals outside enjoying their own city. The architecture throughout the Old Town is a fascinating blend of Venetian, French, and British influences, reflecting Corfu's unique history. The narrow cobblestone streets are lined with charming cafes and boutiques, making it perfect for my afternoon strolls. So I'm supposed to be relaxing on my mini vacation, guys, but you know what I found? I found a Spanish town on a Greek island. Let's go in. Danilia Village was inspired by two brothers who fell in love with the charming Spanish village during their travels. Upon returning to Corfu, They created this place as a 1930s replica of that village. The place was closed for many years after it caught fire, and they finally reopened to the public in 2022. The events hall takes you back centuries. The brick walls from floor to ceilings and a fireplace that reminds you of what life was like in the 17th century. As I walked through the village, you can't help but feel you have stepped into another time. The courtyard outside was a perfect place for a summer wedding. This space has character and old-world charm. Sure, there's a cute little church by the courtyard. And I love the golden stars on the blue ceiling. The museum is full of interesting items from Corfu's past. You can see the old pots and pans, phones, cameras, and typewriters. It was like stepping back in time to see how locals lived and worked. This place is an outdoor museum that shows off the best of Corfu's local culture and historic buildings. Walking through it feels like traveling to the past. If you enjoy learning about history or want to try something unique, you'll really like this place. It's perfect for seeing traditional Corfu buildings and learning about local culture. This ghost town on top of a hill dates back to the 14th century. When I first arrived, I thought no one would be here, but as you explore, you'll discover restaurants and signs of people slowly moving back. In recent years, efforts have been made to preserve and restore this town. Traveling is fun, peaceful, and everything in between. You need these whether it's a mini break or a longer break from your daily life routines. So just come and find yourself again, then go back, kick ass, and do it all over. Corfu, you taught me that sometimes the best ideas happen when you let yourself slow down and simply observe the beauty around you. As we leave this beautiful island, all of these memories will stay with me in years to come. Hey Corfu, till next time, ciao for now! Hi everyone, I need a favor. I am watching over 98% of you watching my video but not subscribing. Guys, Please subscribe because this really helps our channel.
