Welcome to Restoration Hardware in England, also known as RH to many. For anyone who wants to come here, unlike your typical showroom, RH England is located in a converted old 17th-century estate showcasing products in a museum-like setting. This is an interesting approach as it allows customers to view furniture and decor in a realistic, lived-in environment. The old estate adds a touch of English history and luxury. It's a special place for people looking for high-quality home furnishing with a sense of British style.
You must be wondering, why am I here? Well, last year while I was working, I came across a video a designer posted about RH opening in England and we were gonna be in England in next few months, and I was like, I gotta put this on my list because it was nothing like the RH in the US. It was very different, unique. So I'm like, let me look it up. I looked it up, and then to my surprise, it was just an hour away from Cotswolds, and I was like, this must be added on. How is RH England different than the ones in the US? Well, immediately when you get to this beautiful piece of land, you'll notice that it's not our typical showroom in the US. It doesn't have the gray walls, it has a lot of light inside, and It's heavily influenced by European design and it's stunning. There was one staircase I saw with a beautiful Hercules sculpture at the bottom. The staircase was lit with lots of natural light. There was a skylight right in the center of the staircase that illuminated the whole area beautifully. As you walk up, you see a mix of different moldings and sculptures used as wall decor, which is quite interesting. As you come across other staircases, this becomes a common theme throughout. Nearly every staircase featured an oversized antique mirror which added depth and character to these spaces. I personally love a gallery wall in hallways.. It gives any home a museum-like feeling, a sense of a lived-in space. RH's use of oversized black and white artwork really added a statement element to these hallways. Some hallways featured windows on one side and floor-to-ceiling mirrors on the other side, creating an illusion of a well-lit space. There's about 60+ rooms in this building. You'll see a lot of usage of European artists' sculptures, decor, and painting that really brings all the RH furniture to life. RH is known for its oversized furniture. Lighting, and mirrors, and this was evident in every single space I saw. All the rooms were designed to complement the high ceilings. This is what I love personally as an interior designer. With high ceilings, you can do so much. I noticed that even the small living spaces featured oversized mirrors, artworks, and coffee tables. High ceilings offer endless possibilities Even in smaller rooms, that allows you to create an illusion of a bigger space. These dining rooms are small. But compact spaces are quite common in European cities, and these rooms are doing just that. When we have high ceilings in a small space, adding unique eye-catching chandeliers adds drama to the room. What impressed me most about all these rooms was the constant use of beautiful sculptures as centerpieces on the dining tables. Looking at all the bedrooms, there is so much inspiration here. As you can see, each bedroom, big or small, features a seating area. Larger rooms have a full-on living space, while in the smaller rooms, a single eye-catching chair serves as a focal point. A seating space in a bedroom creates an illusion of a bigger space. You'll see many rooms had windows which was overlooking the deer garden. This made me realize how a garden or landscape view can add sense of calmness to any bedroom. Looking at all these different designs, which room was your favorite? I would love to know in the comments below. I sat outside after going into every single room. Yes, I went to every single room inside, and I was not overwhelmed at all. I was in awe of inspiration and thinking to myself, what a beautiful piece of land, and what RH have done here is brilliant. I mean, I even thought to myself, I want to sit in those rooms upstairs looking over to the deer garden and create some fabulous design for my clients in the future. I mean, it's just an experience. So guys, if you are someone who loves inspiration as an interior designer, or someone who loves design and wants inspiration, you'll love this place. So guys, come here.
