Kevin Surace says Claude 4.6 and 4.7 can now generate entire 20,000-line applications from scratch, forcing developers to stop thinking of themselves as code writers. Instead, they should focus on outcomes: using taste and judgment to shape what users actually want, faster and better than before.

With AI, a lot of people are feeling scared, anxious, they feel their career is over. So I'll give you an example. A coder 3, 4, or 5 months ago maybe could have gotten AI to code 30 or 40 or 50% of an application, but they had a lot of work to do as a human, right? And when once Claude 4.6 and now 4.7 hit and it'll write 20,000 lines of code and it's done and it works. It's done. It wrote 100% of the application. And so that coder says to himself, I thought that my sense of purpose, my sense of being, my very sense of being was to write code because I was such a good writer of code. And now there's a machine that outrights me 100 to 1. And my response to that is we are going to shift our sense of purpose from the doing of these individual tasks to the outcome, because in the outcome, we're going to use our taste and our experience To deliver a wonderful offering or product or whatever it is to the users of that product, right? Users of that output. And actually, that's all the users ever wanted. They always wanted it faster, they wanted it better, and they wanted it cheaper. And now you can deliver that.
