In this interview excerpt, Kevin Surace explains how generative AI is revolutionizing content creation by dramatically cutting cost and time. He contrasts the traditional model—paying $500‑$1,500 to a writer for a week‑long blog post—with the new capability of using AI to draft an entire year’s worth of blog posts (52 drafts) in a single day, illustrating a potential 1,000x productivity boost and suggesting that the old approach is becoming obsolete.
Businesses spend thousands of dollars a month creating content, but AI is making the old way of doing it look obsolete. And here's how.
When you look at this era of GenAI, a lot of what it does is generate content. So an example, I'm in the tech industry, and if I wanted someone outside to write a blog post for me, I would hire that person, and it might be $500 to $1,500, and it might take a week or so, and they'd write my next blog post. And I go, that's it for that week. I'd do it again next week and do it again next week, right? And we'd go back and forth, et cetera. Well, today, if I really want to write a blog posts, I start thinking about writing all 52 blog posts for the year today.
Yeah.
And I can ask a modern model, first of all, go review my entire website. From that entire website, generate 52 possible topics for my blog post. Then I start going to each one and say, now generate 1,000 words for each one that align with other things we're already saying on the website, but promote what we're trying to say without being too commercial, etc., etc. So I can set those bounds. So basically, at the end of that, I've got 52 blog posts, and I have that in under an hour, maybe 30 minutes. And then after that, I'm gonna spend the rest of the day editing those, cleaning them up, throwing a few out, replacing them, etc. By the end of the day, I've done blog posts for a year. I didn't hire anyone. I'm done in a day. That is at least 1,000x improvement over any other way we've ever done this. 1,000x. That is market-changing. That is a complete change.
