Kevin Surace argues AI removes tedious work, not meaningful work. Making PowerPoint presentations used to take a week of fine-tuning fonts and sourcing images. AI tools now do it in hours, leaving more time for the actual thinking.

I heard from employees over and over, oh, AI is taking the joy out of my job. And I go, no, no, no, no, it's taking the joyless work from your job. And let me give you an example. So everyone who's listening here has created a PowerPoint. What everyone hated was the week or two in between where they were moving this font over a few pixels and then coming up with some image they have to generate and then saying, how do I say this in the right way? I don't want to upset anyone. All those things that go into that, right? I'm telling you, it was joyless work and it's stupid work because today all of my keynotes, all of my PowerPoints are done by AI 100%, and the layout is gorgeous, and it says exactly what I want to say because I told it up front what I wanted to say in paragraph after paragraph. And so it has taken what used to take me a week, and I'm pretty fast, down to— well, it takes me still a couple hours to opine on what I want to say, but after that it works for a couple hours. I'm done. It saved the week. So I am much more joyful because of this.
