Kim Zoller argues that reframing "I have to" as "I get to" transforms how you experience chores, work, and exercise. She uses a workout story to show how perspective shifts punishment into privilege, and calls it the three P's: punishment, privilege, perspective.

Hi, everyone. I'm so glad we're taking strides today. And I was thinking about punishment versus privilege and I was thinking about working out and today I was working out and I was like, oh my gosh, I have so much to do and I have a million things on my mind. And I started thinking about the difference between I have to do something and I get to do something. And I look at privilege and being privileged to be able to do something as opposed to punishments. And I was thinking about that at work, too, that everything that we're doing that we can make it into something like, I have to do this and it's such a punishment to have to do something or it's such a privilege that we get to do certain things in our lives and this can apply to our work, to our family, to working out, to really anything that we're doing. And so it is all perspective. So it's really about the three P's. Have the best day.
