Welcome to the Business Without Burnout podcast. I'm Kirsten Roldan and I help entrepreneurs make a lot of money peacefully. I'm an Eurekan who went from working in healthcare while cleaning houses and braiding hair on the side to building a business that's generated over $4 million and counting. But there was a time I almost shut my business down because I had a lot of money but no peace. I managed to turn it around, and that's why every week I share the 4 strategies that help you grow without burnout: email marketing, team systems, and mindset. So let's dive in. I made 6 figures with under 100 subscribers. She makes 6 figures from a blog alone without selling any services. And we are two people who built 6-figure income streams without relying on social media and found each other. Now we are collaborating to help entrepreneurs learn how to make sales without social. The Sales Without Social bundle includes the full blog and email system you need to get found and paid without posting. You can only get access to it right now, so don't miss out. Join our upcoming webinar, Passive Profit: How to Get Discovered and Make Sales in 30 Days Without Posting on Social Media, happening one time only on Tuesday, July 28th. The link is in the show notes. Hello, Peaceful Millionaires. Welcome to the podcast. I am so excited to have Janise on today because I can't wait to introduce you to her. I, this is, okay, I just wanna start. You heard the intro, you heard I'm doing a collab. The fact that I'm doing it with Jeniece, I cannot tell you how excited I am about this and how excited I am that you all are going to get to know her if you haven't yet and see what we've been working on together. So Jeniece, please introduce yourself to those who don't know you before I go into a whole thing about it.
Kirsten, thank you so much. I'm really excited to be here. And yeah, I, I, I will say I don't collab with a lot of people, and the ones that I do, it's because they are doing iconic things, and you're absolutely part of that, that crew. So I'm so excited for what we're going to be doing. My name is Janice Torres. I am the founder of Yo Quiero Dinero, the leading personal finance podcast for Latinas. I talk to women of color about how they can increase their income and increase their options through entrepreneurship. And my own journey to becoming a 6-figure entrepreneur, to building up a nest egg that allowed me to retire at 35, like, all of it originated because of a blog, which when people hear that story, they're just like, wait, what? Because nobody tells us that we can create like online income, right? So many of us, and I'm sure you got the same messaging where it's like, go to school, get the job, work for 45 years, hope that you can retire. And so I tried that, didn't love it, started a blog as a side hobby. It blew up into a full-time business. Allowed me to quit my engineering career, and now I'm really passionate about teaching others how they can do the same using your expertise and how you can use the power of SEO and discoverability to make money on demand.
What blows my mind is whenever you post your blog income, and you do it pretty regularly, and every time I see it, I'm like, so blogs are still working? Like, everyone— and of course I know that logically, but I'm really excited to dive into that with you over these next few weeks in this launch to really share the possibilities. Because every time I see you make a post, I'm always like, wow, I can't believe it. Like she has a whole passive income stream just from a blog still. That wasn't, it's not like you don't, you know, that's how you started and now you don't have it anymore. You still have it, which is incredible.
Yeah. It's been around for now 12, almost 13 years, which is crazy. And, you know, I will say, like a lot of things, there is the highlight reel and then there's like what it takes to achieve that. And I know we're gonna talk about that today, but I think the most important thing as we go into this conversation is just understanding that absolutely it's possible and there is a strategy to it. It's not like this happens by accident. There is a method to the madness and I'm an open book to be able to just tell you everything I've learned along the way.
I'm so excited. So for those that don't know me and how I started, my name is Kirsten Roldan. I am the host of the Business Without Burnout podcast. I specialize in email marketing as well as peaceful scaling strategies. So my entire thing that I like preach all the time about is building a peaceful business. And the reason being is because I actually started in this industry as an online service provider. I was building an operations agency that ended up burning me out burned out so bad. And I was not only getting burned out because I did not know how to run a business— I was like doing this all— I didn't have any entrepreneur friends teaching me anything, or any, or any family members that had a business like I had. And on top of that, I was living with chronic depression, and trying to keep up with social media and run a business was so hard for me that at one point I had to decide I need to be able to make money without having to show my face. I do not always have the energy, I don't always have willpower, the capacity, the ability, the mental headspace to show up online. And so I need to learn— I, like, I can't have a business if it relies on social media. And that's counterintuitive for so many people because we know that everyone says social media is like the number one, it's the number one, it's the best way to grow a business. And it's a way to grow a business, but I need to— I personally needed to learn a different way. And so that's a big part of my story. I also remember feeling just so different at that time. I I'm a Puerto Rican from New York. Those who don't know, by the way, you're from Jersey, right? Puerto Rican from Jersey. Yes.
Born and raised.
Yep. So we got Jersey and we got New York here. So you will definitely see that in our energy because we're very similar in that way, which I love. But yeah, I was like this, I don't know, I felt like I was this like loud, bossy Puerto Rican from New York coming into like a, the minimalist vibe space, if that makes sense. I had like my long nails and my hoops and like red lips. Like kind of classic. I'm kind of like classic there in that way. And I felt so out of place and so embarrassed and awkward on social media. So that was another reason why I really leaned on email marketing. I ended up making 6 figures with my first 100 subscribers, and now I'm really passionate about teaching others how to do the same. And you'll learn more about how I do that soon. So I wanna dive into why are we collaborating, starting with how did we connect and what did we recognize in each other's work? So I can start if you want. I do not know how I found you exactly. I'm sure someone shared your podcast on Instagram. I'm sure. And I was like, ooh, I do love dinero. I love dinero. That sounds great. So I'm going to follow this podcast. And I do remember vividly just being so— I loved that you were saying and believing something similar to me, which was this is all rented land. Like, this is— if you're going to build a business and, you know, try to make money outside of a 9-to-5 job, at least build something that can't be taken away.
Yeah.
So that's what I recognized in your work. But I'm curious if you remember what you, you know, how you first met me, what you recognized in mine.
I know a lot of your clients, so I know a lot of people that have worked with you through your programs and your offers, and your name has always come up as just like the queen of email marketing, you know. And email marketing for me was something that I did not lean into a ton until I started realizing that I was the bottleneck in my business in a lot of ways when it comes to social media, you know, like Dancing for the algorithm, it gets old. And especially as I was thinking about, you know, motherhood and like capacity and just pure desire to not want to work 24/7, email marketing became the thing that I realized was an area that I definitely wanted to focus on. And what was incredible, but like so obvious now that I look back at it, is once I started implementing email marketing strategies, like my launches doubled and tripled. And it was just like, this is this is what I need to be doing. And so I think our two worlds are so complementary because they feed off of each other, right? Like, you need a website that you own, but then it's like, how are you going to get people to go to the website? Email marketing, you know? And like, how do you use social media to get people into your ecosystem? You use automation. You get them on your email list, then you can send them links to your website. So it's— you can't really effectively build a business if you're only focusing on one or the other. You really have to do both, I think, to have a robust process and system that is going to make you money even when you don't want to work.
I agree. And I have— I cannot tell you how many clients I have that join the program that are like, okay, great, I can make sales without social media if I use email. Now how do I get people on my list without social media? And I was so inspired because I would see so many of my clients that exclusively marketed through blogging, exclusively. They were like, that's where all my money comes from. That's where all my leads come from. And, you know, actually the reason why those kinds of people joined is because they were like, I have big lists because of my blog, but they're not converting. So can you help me convert? You know? And I would tell my clients, listen, I've got these clients over here that are, getting so many subscribers from their blog. And people were so surprised by that. They were like, wait, really? You can, like, you can just from your website, you know, get leads and, and, and make money and, and all that. And so I always really paid attention to your work for that reason, because I don't teach blogging. I do— what I do is I tell people, this is how I get leads on my list, this is how my clients get leads on their list, and this is what you can do. But I really wanted to be able to collaborate with someone who could really teach that important piece to them of this is everything required if you want to be truly social media optional. You want to be able to not use social at all if you wanted to. This is how you would need to do it. I needed that person and that's why I really wanted to collaborate with you and I'm so happy that we are. So I think it, like you said, it really just closes the loop for both of our audiences.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, you know, the, the discoverability loop and the conversion route, it really closes it.
Yeah, absolutely. You know, and I think there's been enough examples of platforms going down, you know, platforms changing ownership, like problematic people at the top of these organizations that have made people want to opt out of social media for a myriad of reasons, right? And so I think this is a really timely conversation for us to be having.
Yeah. So now we decided and I, oh my goodness, I keep saying I'm excited, but genuinely I'm so excited. We decided to bundle our programs together one time only. We were like, we're going to do this once. We're going to go big. We're going to help as many people as we can. But for the first time ever, both of us are going to bundle our programs together. You will get Blog Bootcamp, which we're going to go over everything inside, and Million Dollar Email. And I, if I were y'all, I would be very happy right now. So let's start with what's inside Blog Bootcamp.
I think the better question is what's not inside the Blog Bootcamp because I've had students come from other programs and have told me repeatedly, first, the amount of value in this program, it's like, ma'am, you need to be charging like 5 times what you're charging for this, which I take as the ultimate compliment. But also just the level of comprehensiveness is unlike anything I've seen, and I've done a ton of market research to see like who else is teaching this stuff. I start from the foundation, right? Because it's important for you to be intentional when you're starting your blog so that you are not then trying to retrofit something that you built without any plan to fit into your business. So we're talking about everything from how you name it, how you set it up, how you design it, how you actually write blog posts, okay? It's not like you're writing a book report or like an essay for college. The science of search, right? Search engine optimization is a huge part of the discoverability process, and there's a method to it. And so I teach that. I teach obviously monetization, so all the different ways that you can make money with your blog. I teach you the business finances because you are starting a business, and I want you to take tax deductions for that new laptop that you're buying or that conference that you're going to go and like, you know, learn more about what what you're doing. I teach the legal aspects, so how to protect yourself so that you are not having to worry about somebody stealing your brand or, you know, violating your copyright. And I also teach about AI because hello, it's a brave new world out there. And for those folks who want to be able to implement AI with their blog in a way that's not actually going to sabotage you, because there are wrong ways to do it and there's the right ways to do it, so I'm teaching you that as well. And, uh, not only me But I gathered together a group of bloggers that I've come to know in the industry in all different types of niches. We're talking about like fashion, tech, food, travel, finance, and they also have recorded masterclasses that are included inside of the program to teach you how they've built their business. Because I don't claim to be like the only way to do it. I wanted to bring people to show you like there's a million different ways that you can monetize, that you can grow your brand.. And it all starts foundationally with a blog. So that's just a little bit of a preview, Kirsten, but I don't even think like I can adequately describe, um, just how much content that's in there. And the great part is that you're gonna have like a year's worth of access to this program, so you don't have to feel like you're stressed out and rushed to implement this stuff. You have time to sit there, absorb it, take it in, implement it, which I think is so important.
Yeah, and it sounds like by the end of it you're going to have a fully up and running functional blog that can get found.
Yeah, absolutely.
And you know, I've been talking to my husband, you know, it's so funny. Now we need to get him in on this, right? Because funny enough, he does YouTube and he's been really— it's so funny. He's been really like the kitchen table conversation has been SEO and searching. And he's like, you know, people still use Google a lot. They use Google a lot. And the conversation has been around AI and, you know, all this stuff. And he was like, he was explaining to me how it's prioritizing video content and now it's sorting between short videos and long videos and all this stuff. And he was like, and blogging, like blogs are also still getting found. Google is making sure, and I think you mentioned this as well, you know, Google is, you know, yes, there's an AI summary which everyone is so worried about, but your blog can show up in the AI summary.
Yes, yes. The AIO, which is the new frontier of search traffic. Is also something that I teach about because it's not only important for you to show up in search results, in traditional search results, but it's also important for you to be able to now show up as like the one or two recommendations in AI, which is still another way for people to find you. So again, it's one of these things where I have this conversation with people so often where they're just like, well, what's the point of a blog if like AI exists? And what people don't understand is that AI sources blogs. Like, AI is not creating unique content. It's just taking in everything on the internet and jumbling it together and giving you something based on that data. But the datasets that they're working with is content that is created by humans, AKA us.
Yeah, yeah. And it's really gotten me thinking about just how important my Google presence is. And I want— when someone types in my name or someone types in email marketing, I don't want them to see no one else but me. And that requires me to feed it content and feed it, you know, whether it's video content, blog content, et cetera. So yeah, blogging is still so important and I'm so glad that in your program you're answering that, that objection that people have around AI. It's like it didn't kill blogging, it made the strategy slightly different, right?
Yeah. And it also killed the lazy blogging. Okay. Because I think there's a lot of people who think, well, I'm just gonna go on ChatGPT and have it write all of my blog content. And unfortunately, or fortunately I should say, um, Google's smarter than that, okay? Like, their algorithm can tell if your content is AI written or genuinely human created. And if your blog is just a bunch of AI slop, you're gonna disappear. Like, nobody's ever going to be able to find you. So there's not this like fast-track way of cheating the algorithm by using AI. It's actually going to hurt you if you're not taking the approach that I teach inside my program, which is like Teach from your expertise, teach from your lived experience, teach from the thing that makes you unique. And that is what is the, um, your, your unique value proposition that's going to get you noticed not only by clients but also by the algorithm.
Yeah, and I know both of us are really passionate about building real businesses, you know, companies that can't be taken away from us, companies that aren't relying on anybody. And I just think about— I'm just already envisioning all of our new clients in this bundle and how they're, they're presence there when they're discovered, right? How their Google presence, for example, is just going to be so much more professional, so much more valuable to the people that find them, which is not only getting you discovered, amazing, it's going to convert a lot faster. Your funnel is going to convert so much faster now with Blog Bootcamp alone. And we haven't even talked about Million Dollar Email yet.
Yeah. You know, one thing I want to say, uh, for those creators who are exclusively using social media right now, It's very frustrating for me to witness, and I have a really soft spot for food bloggers in general because I started as a food blogger. And so when I see folks who are dedicating all this time and energy to putting all of their recipes on something like Instagram, and you have to go to the captions to get the recipe, I think to myself all the time, like, do you guys understand what is at stake if your platform disappears? Like, there goes everything, every piece of IP that you've created, all those thousands of hours of building followers, like it's gone in an instant and it doesn't have to be that way, you know what I mean? It's just like you have to understand that yeah, building a social media platform is quote unquote easy because it's built for you, right? You just show up and you do your thing but because it's not yours at any given moment, everything that you've created and put out there in the world can just disappear. And I think like that is just a recipe for disaster.
Absolutely, absolutely. Which brings me to Million Dollar Email. So you're going to learn how to set up a blog, get discovered even in the AI era on Google, right? Being able to be top search, being able to get people that are searching for you to find you specifically. And not your competitors. Then from there, we want to get them on your email list. That's going to be very, very important. But we don't just want to build your list, we want to convert your clients. So Million Dollar Email is the program I created with the strategies that have helped me have crazy high conversions, like industry, like way above industry standard. A lot of people will tell you 2% is the good conversion rate. No, my clients are doing 10, 20, 30, 40, 50% conversion rates. Because of this strategy, because what I teach you is the first thing is actually how you communicate your offer. So a lot of times you join an email program and the first thing they do is have you set up a lead magnet. They're like, here's the opt-in. No, I start with how do you communicate your offer? What are you actually selling and how are you talking about it? Because your lead magnet doesn't matter and your copy can be very good and it not sell if you are not communicating it in a way to where it feels attractive to your ideal client and to where it makes them want it right now. So I start with what I call your buy now messaging, which is how do we get people that want to buy now, not later? That's step one. Then once we have that, now we know what your lead magnet is going to be and we're going to create your opt-in, which is going to actually be what you tell your audience on your website and anywhere else that you market, this is, this is what I'll give you if you join my email list, right? And then from there, I teach you sales copywriting. This is very different than general copywriting. Most copywriting is— most people, pretty much everyone, I've never seen bad copy, right? I've never seen bad copy. But just because it's good doesn't mean it's converting. So I actually teach you the skill of writing persuasive copy. And Janice has actually seen me do this in action.
Um, it's very impressive.
Yeah. She's seen me do this in action herself with her clients. It's very different. It's very different than what you think. So I teach you step by step how to build an email from scratch to be so persuasive that it makes you want to buy your offer right now. Like, that's what I work on. And then from there, I teach you how to launch, how to set up funnels, all of that. That's just the course content. But the best part of this program, in my personal opinion, is my AI copywriting suite. So I have developed a custom copywriting suite. It's not Claude, it's not ChatGPT, it's my own custom copywriting AI tool that will write copy for you from scratch that converts. I used it in my last launch for myself. I got 100 clients in my launch. It's proven. Now this helps you with email topics. It helps you with your subject lines, your preview text, your pitches, your CTAs, but it also helps you with all of the copy as well. So it will write an email for you completely, as many as you want, and that is completely included in the program. So you're going to learn all of the skills that you need to improve your copywriting, to increase your email sales. But if you're someone that's like, I don't have a lot of time for that, I'm a side hustler, or I'm a busy parent, or I just don't wanna be writing all my emails, I give you a proven AI copywriting suite that literally does the emails for you and from start to finish, from topic all the way to the copy.
So, ma'am, sign me up. Like just alone, like for that alone, you're getting insane amounts of value. And I say that as somebody who has hired people to do this type of work and knows how expensive that is. Like, get outta here.
No, seriously, a copywriter, we always say we save you thousands of dollars a year, usually around 5 figures on copywriting expenses. And it's so ple— oh my God, you better watch. Compare it to Claude when you join, you'll see the difference. It's crazy. And on top of that, I actually designed my copywriting suite. People really appreciate this. I have it write the copy for you, but then I also have it audit it for you just to double, double make sure that it is as like good as it possibly can be. So it really closes the whole loop. So that's Million Dollar Email.
That's incredible. I'm obsessed because, and you know, I've learned so much from you, Kirsten, personally. Just like I had a huge limiting belief around people getting sick of me like quote unquote emailing too much, you know. And I would watch your— because I'm, I am subscribed to your email Duh, like dropping gems all the time. And I just watch you like during launches. I'm like, yo, this, this chick is really out here like sending like 10 emails on closing. Sure. And I'm just like, if she can do it, I can do that shit too. And let me tell you, once I started implementing your strategies, like the game was changed forever. And so it's not like you're out here teaching something that only works for you. Like, no, absolutely not. You have such incredible testimonials. I know so many people who just rave about your content and like your unique style of teaching that, I mean, it's a no-brainer.
Oh yes, I appreciate that. And I feel like that's another thing. So something I always, I, I say a lot is I'm like, stop learning email marketing from boys. Like stop learning email marketing from the white bros, right? Like learn from, from us. You're gonna get, you know, it's gonna be a different perspective and it's gonna be enjoyable and the style is gonna be fun. And it's just different.
Yeah, absolutely. Like, we don't need any more like ClickFunnels crap. Like, we're— I think people are smarter than that too, you know. When we think about just the power of email marketing, it's as much about the system as it is the content. And what I think you're so good at is just really helping people understand that it's not about sending 1,000 emails, it's about sending impactful Yes. Useful. Like stuff that makes your ideal client feel like she's in my brain. I need this now. Here's my credit card. Like who doesn't want to create that type of energy in their business?
Yes, exactly. And I just want to answer just a few objections that people might have. I'll start with email and then we can go into blogging. So as you were saying that, I was thinking, you know, what might people be thinking when it comes to blogging or email marketing? And the top thing that I get is, will this work for me if I have nobody on my email list right now? Or if I am just like not a good writer, don't know where to start, starting from scratch? I just want to let you know the answer is yes. We start you from ground zero. Even if you don't have an email marketing platform right now, we can help you. And you don't have to be— if you're someone that already has an email marketing platform, don't worry, you don't have to be on a certain one. In order to join, but we will help those that need that help to get set up with those initial steps. And then the other thing that I want to say as well around email marketing is people will often ask, well, do people actually buy high ticket from emails? Do they buy, you know, I know Janice is shaking her head. I— hello. Yeah, like, what if I'm selling something that's higher price? Would someone actually buy that? I just want you to know I am selling a $12,000 offer right now. I have people paying me today $12,000, no sales call from my emails. Okay. So absolutely any offer you sell can sell through email. I think those are like the top ones I tend to get. What about you, Janice? Like, what do you think people might be worried about when it comes to a blog?
Yeah, definitely some of what we already spoke about with regards to AI and like the relevance of a blog. So I think it's important to remember that context and then Another one is that you just have to be like creating content forever, and I think that comes from the perception of like social media and how that algorithm works versus Google's algorithm is like completely different, and I like to tell people that like most of my over $100K a year in passive income from the blog comes from content that I've written at least 7 years ago, so just think about that. I've created a singular blog post that brings in thousands of dollars a month that just has lived on Google. It's just hanging out there. It's not gonna disappear after 2 days on Instagram. And so I think that is like such a fundamental difference when we think about the power of discoverability when it comes to a blog. It's not about continuously performing, it's about creating very helpful, high-quality content. And so that's one of the things that I teach about is like, how do you actually structure a blog post to effectively tell Google, oh, this is the post that's going to answer this person's question, and I know that because of how it's structured, the way that it's written, the way that it's titled. Like, all of that stuff matters. And so once you understand how to create SEO-optimized content, you're gonna be the type of person that gets discovered for whatever it is, whether it's like selling, you know, to clients, whether it's speaking engagements. I mean, I've gotten media opportunities like brand partnerships, getting flown out across the country to go and talk. And it's not because of Instagram, it's because I found you on Google. And it's like, hello! I think if more people understood the power of that, they would stop worrying so much about the follower count and all the crap that's going on in social media and like really put effort into these things that matter. So good.
And I was just thinking too, I think a big objection to blogging, at least my objection before I joined Blog Bootcamp, was around, does this actually work for my industry? You know? And I just was like, does it work? And I remembered, and this is what sold me and was like, man, imagine if I were actually intentional. I will never forget someone said, I typed in million dollar funnels and it linked me to your blog, which all I had, y'all, was a blog page on my website, but it was actually just my podcast links. It had nothing else. I know Janice is like, oh my God, we need to fix that. Podcast links, right? But she found me, went to the blog, and then found my podcast, and then was able to— ended up joining. And when I was thinking about that, I was like, wow, imagine if when she clicked on the blog she thought she was getting, there was actually blog content. Like, imagine how many people would— how many more people would convert from there. And so me being unintentional is converting. Imagine with intentionality how much better it could be. So this is definitely on my radar too for, for 2026. I'm a student of Blog Bootcamp and I'm going to be a success story.
Hell yeah. No, absolutely. And it's crazy because, you know, it's one of those things that it is an investment in your time and energy, you know, like building your own website versus doing something like starting a Substack. It's not the same. You know, and I think platforms like Substack and Medium and, you know, all the other ones that have been created to start blogs, they sell ease, right? It's like easy for you to start the website, but what they don't tell you is that you don't own the ecosystem, right? And so you don't actually own the full structure, you don't own the discoverability, you don't own the ability to monetize in a ton of different ways. And you don't ultimately own the platform, which, you know, all right, maybe like you don't care about that now, but if Substack decides one day to charge you $200 a month to use their platform, are you still going to be okay with that? You know, it's like they're— we're subject to all these terms and conditions that we have zero control over on these platforms, whereas with a self-hosted website, you can move it wherever you want. It's like having a modular home that you can pick up and put somewhere else. You could move it to the next block, or you can move it to another state. Whereas, you know, if you're buying an apartment in an apartment building, babe, you're stuck. You're stuck there.
Yes, exactly, exactly. It's, it's so true. And I know you and I can go for days, but I'm so glad we're gonna do more episodes like this. Don't worry, everyone. And there's gonna be a lot of content. Y'all are gonna get a lot of emails, and there's gonna be a lot going out, but don't you worry. But if you're wondering, okay, what does this bundle include? It includes all of it. It includes Million Dollar Email and Blog Bootcamp. And we are doing a special bonus after the webinar. So we are opening up after the webinar on July 28th. Make sure you join, the link is in the show notes. And then we're doing a special bonus Passive Profit Pathway workshop with myself and Janice, where we will provide you with custom guidance on how to increase your passive sales off social media. Not just when you're selling services or you're selling, you know, your time and energy, but how can you truly make passive income. And it's going to be really amazing because it's going to come from the perspective with Janice's financial background and how, how she looks at things, and my business background. And it's going to be such a good workshop. So that is going to be the bonus, as if, as if you don't have enough. That's going to be the bonus. So make sure you join.
For real. Like, at the end of the day, yes, it's great to make money selling high-ticket active income offers, but babe, like, we also need to be making money in our sleep. Okay. Yeah. And I'm so passionate about that. And so a blog and also email marketing, because duh, automation, anything that you can automate, you can have it making money for you. So I can't wait to help folks streamline their offer suite and make sure that they're making money regardless of what is going on in the world.
It's going to be so good. Thank you so much for coming on the podcast, Denise. I can't wait for this launch.
Yes, thank you for having me, guys. Do not miss this webinar. It's going to be a show.
