Stop tracking dozens of metrics. Pick 3-5 KPIs that actually drive results, nail those first, then add everything else. Like baking a cake: base, icing, cherry. Get the foundation right before you scale.

Most business owners are tracking 15 things and they're improving— whoop— none of them. This is what I told a marketing director this week. Focus on your 3 to 5 big KPIs for the week ahead. The ones that actually make a massive difference in your business. Focus there first. And when those are nailed, and I mean genuinely nailed, then you move on to the next stuff. Effectively, we're gonna build the cake first, then we're gonna add the icing, then we add the little cherry on top. Most people focus on the cherry first 'cause that's the glamorous, that's the fun bit. But what tends to happen is if you focus on everything, you have tons of data, and then all you're left with is a massive mess, and you don't actually know which bit works. So simplify first and then scale later.
